5 ways Wizkid and Davido's concerts were similar . | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 04:24 AM PST

Many observers have spotted the similarities between Wizkid's concert last weekend and Davido's 30 billion concert last night.

If they hadn't made peace already ,it may have been another subject of a supremacy battle ..

Here are some similarities between both shows and its obvious they ' inspire eachother '

1. Both brought their first kids on stage ..While Wizkid brought his son,Boluwatife on stage,Davido brought his daughter,Imade on stage.

2.Both wore glittery outfits and black pants ..It was obvious Davido's sparkly shirt and black pants were inspired by Wizkid..

3.Both brought lots of supporting acts on stage..
Wizkid brought a horde of artists to perform and Davido did the same with over 20 acts performing at his concert ...

4.Both events served as a centre stage for peace .While Wizkid made up with Davido at his show,Davido reunited the Mo Hits on his own show for the first time since their 2012 split.
.
5 .Both sang eachother's hits at their respective shows ..
When Davido walked into Wizkid's show, they both sang his song FIA. . During Wizkid's appearance at Davido's show, they both sang Manya.

It's safe to say this is one bromance made in heaven 💕💕

Regulars spoilt the show ,smell everywhere-Davido's concert attendee leaves bad review | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 03:49 AM PST

A Nigerian man has taken to Instagram to express his displeasure after splashing N50k on a Davido concert ticket and not enjoying his experience .Victornj123 wrote ..

Didn't really enjoy the 30Billion Concert of Davido mhen!! It Started from the Nigerian/African time factor, the Concert was to start by 7pm, but they started at 10:30pm. Fans struggled hard to enter the Auditorium, by pushing themselves violently due to bad coordination of the organizers.

Their was no real difference between VIP and VVip & the "Regulars", bcos the "regulars" eventually covered the walk ways, they came to stand right in front of we the vvips and vips, Myself and friends had to walk some little guys and girls out of our sights & I can go on and on.

They stood and covered sights, which prompted the VVips & Vips to stand on their chairs, Just to catch a Glimpse of the show. Fans like myself were left to watch the screens as I didn't feel like standing on chairs, Like - I was decently dressed to stand on chairs. At some point, Most of the people/fans who paid for "tables", had to stand up too, to watch the show properly.

Regulars covered the whole place, it was less than what I expected. Abuja shows ain't like that, I was decently dressed for the show but it was more like a mess, The "upcoming artistes" took a larger part of the show, but I can understand and endure that!!. Hmm, heat and bad smell everywhere too.

Lest I forget, @official2baba came on stage drunk, @davidoofficial had to prostrate for him, to "stylishly discharge" him. Mo-hit reconciliation performance was the main catch of the show. I won't be going for another lagos concert anytime soon, I'm dissappointed. Abuja shows seems OK to me. My large screen TV and travels seems more Fun!! #30billionconcert #Davido #TheEnd!! @davidoofficial 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾..

India to jail muslims divorcing wives with ‘triple talaq’ | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 01:29 AM PST

The Indian government on Thursday introduced a bill in parliament aimed at prosecuting and jailing Muslim men who divorce their wives through the "triple talaq", or instant divorce.

Indian muslim women have  complained that 'triple talaq' violates their right to equality.

In August, the Supreme Court ruled as unconstitutional , the religious practice which allows Muslim men to divorce their wives simply by uttering the word "talaq" three times.

Muslim women had petitioned the court, arguing that  husbands who divorce them through "triple talaq", including by Skype and WhatsApp, not only violated their rights but left many women destitute.

"Only a law can explicitly ban triple talaq, we have to enforce legal procedures to provide allowance and protect custody of children," said Law Minister Ravi Prasad.

The bill, if approved, would make the practice a non-bailable offence with a possible three-year jail term.

Muslims are the biggest religious minority in Hindu-majority India and relations between the communities have been occasionally strained since Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party won a 2014 election.

India is one of the few countries where the practice of instant divorce has survived and some Muslim groups have said that while it was wrong, the law should be reviewed by the community itself.

Members of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board said the government had no right to outlaw instant triple talaq, as it was directly interfering with the Muslim personal law.

Fayose to Osinbajo: I Like You Because You Are A Pastor, Don't Join the 'Liars' In Buhari's Government

Posted: 28 Dec 2017 01:07 AM PST

Ayo Fayose, Ekiti state governor, has criticised Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo over his recent claim regarding fuel subsidy.
But speaking on Wednesday, Fayose wondered if there was any difference between the NNPC and the federal government.

On Tuesday, Osinbajo had said the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) bears the cost of fuel subsidy and not the federal government.

His comments came after Maikanti Baru, NNPC group managing director, said the landing cost of petrol is now N171 as against the official retail price of N145.

But in a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, his spokesman, Governor Fayose asked: "What is the difference between NNPC and the federal government? Who is NNPC and who is federal government? Is NNPC now an autonomous agency of the federal government?"

He said contrary to what is being presented, the NNPC does not have the rights "to swap crude oil for subsidy" nor to spend money it generates from the sales of crude oil.

He asked: "Where is NNPC getting the money with which it is subsidising petrol with N26 per litre? Is NNPC spending money from the sales of crude oil that should be paid into the federation account to pay subsidy?

"I like the vice-president, he is a pastor and I don't believe that he will also join others in Buhari's government to lie to Nigerians.

"However, this one that he presented NNPC as an agency of the federal government that can allocate fund without the approval of the president is very strange to me."

Fayose also wondered where the money "is coming from" if subsidy is being paid by the NNPC.

"Is it from sales of crude oil? Does it now mean that the NNPC is spending part of the proceeds of the sale of crude oil outside allocation to the federal government by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC)?" he asked.

"We were in Nigeria in May 2016, when the federal government announced the removal of subsidy on petrol and went on to increase the pump price of petrol to N145 per litre.

"The same APC people, who protested against removal of subsidy and increment of petrol price to N140 in 2012, defended the removal in 2016 and increment of pump price to N145.

"In 2017 budget of the federal government, provision was not made for the payment of fuel subsidy, so also that of 2018. So where is the N26 they are subsidizing one litre of petrol with coming from? Is the Buhari-led government spending fund not appropriated by the national assembly?"

Private Refinery Vows To End Fuel Scarcity In Nigeria

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 10:42 PM PST

Bayelsa industrial businessman, Dr. Azibapu Eruani has rekindled hope in Nigerians that the hydra-headed malaise of fuel scarcity and acute unemployment would be reduced to its barest minimum, if not eradicated as licensed privately owned refineries commences operation.

Eruani, President of the Azikel Group, conglomerate comprising Azikel Petroleum, Azikel Dredging, Azikel Power and Azikel Air said this while speaking with journalists in Yenagoa.

Decrying the yearly fuel scarcity debacle, particularly during festive periods in the country, he pointed that this challenge has become embarrassing and biting, as it has virtually crippled economic activities in the country.

The company disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. Accordingly, Eruani noted that the challenge persists in the country because the efficiency level of existing refineries is low to satisfy consumers demand; just as the nation depends solely on the importation of fuel for local consumption.

The Azikel Group President averred that the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari took a pragmatic step to redress low supply, importation of fuel and price hike, by issuing licenses to privately own refineries to Nigerian businessmen, Azikel Group inclusive.

He noted that Azikel Petroleum has achieved 65% completion; and that it would soon begin operation, even as he noted that when all licensed privately owned refineries begin to dispense fuel it would shore up production capacity and fuel scarcity and insufficiency would be outlawed, and Nigeria would be like other countries where availability of petroleum product would no longer be an issue.

Said he ''Azikel Petroleum refinery, phase 1, 12, 000 bpsd hydro-skimming refinery would produce, premium motor spirit, liquefied Petroleum gas, heavy fuel oil, Kerosene and diesel, which is scalable as it will increase geometrically in the phase 2 level of production with over 50,000 bpsd.

''Azikel Group is irrevocably committed to bridging the industrial deficit in Bayelsa, we are on a fast lane of making history, building the first hydro-skimming privately owned refinery in the state and the Niger Delta, and as we pioneer this course others would follow," Eruani submitted.

''it might be difficult yesterday, but we have move beyond the point of difficulty to success, and we believe that fuel scarcity in Nigeria would be a thing of the past soon.

He dismissed the erroneous impression that Bayelsa is a militant state, stressing that the people are enterprising and a whole lots of small and medium business is also thriving in the state.

Eruani alluded that the multiplier effect of adequate supply of petroleum product in the country would drastically reduce the problem of unemployment, which is responsible for brain drain, illegal means to greener pasture, particularly the Libya returnees, as well as other in pathetic conditions faced by young Nigerians in other countries.

He shared the optimism that synergy between the private sector and government at all levels is needed to advance technology driven industrialization to absorb graduates from our universities, as a well as create room for middle and low class manpower.

The Azikel Group President noted that subsidiaries under the group have created industrialization in Bayelsa and the Niger Delta, stressing that with over 1000 employees from the six geo-political zones and still counting, we have reduced unemployment challenge in the state, Niger Delta and in the country.

''We do not want Bayelsans, Niger Delta youths and Nigerians to be idle, we don't want them to become illegal migrant begging for jobs and been lured into abominable social vices, such as prostitution and drug addict, cultist and robbery.

To this end, Eruani noted that an industrialised state and nation is the cardinal key to stable economic prosperity, which would in turn create institutions that would stamp out unemployment, even as he pointed that Azikel Group is on a mission to create the right values towards industrial growth, bring unemployment to its lowest ebb and promote financial freedom among all Nigerians.

She wrote

Please allow me to shine my incomplete 32 teeth 😃 This God has been good to me! 💃

This time last  December 2016 I was struggling to survive! Stuck in a burning building inhaling the superheated hot air and thick black smoke. I thought i had met my end but God said 'not just yet my daughter '! I had no idea if everyone was out of the building  or burning alive in their rooms. Ohhhh i needed air! Screamed and banged on the wall cos I was blinded by the smoke! Disoriented! I Couldn't find the door!
Fire fighters nko? No they didn't show up o! even with all the calls.  And Nobody would agree to risk coming upstairs because of the intensity of the fire. At this point the fire was coming up through the walls from the room right beside mine!
Breathing got harder...i'm burning my body is burning i kept screaming! am I going to die like this? I kept asking myself 😣
I somehow struggled through, crawled past the burning room and fell down the stairs! Few bruises to the knee and elbow 😢 better  than waiting for the help that wasn't coming. Till today, I still can't answer the question HOW? How did I survive that! 🙏

Sometimes when you think it's all over, it's really not! Just keep pushing your way through.
God gave me a second chance at life and I don't take it for granted!

Cameroon set to expel to US detained writer Nganang | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:39 PM PST

New York-based Cameroonian novelist, Patrice Nganang will be freed from Cameroon jail and expelled from his native country to the United States, his lawyer said today.

Nganang was arrested three weeks ago on charges of insulting and threatening President Paul Biya.

The award-winning writer was arrested on Dec. 7 as he prepared to board a flight to Kenya, and accused of insulting President Paul Biya. The government later said he had threatened Biya in posts on Facebook.

A literature professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Nganang was born in Cameroon and holds dual Cameroonian and U.S. nationality.

Nganang's lawyer, Emmanuel Simh, told Reuters that a judge had dismissed the government's charges and ordered his client released. Simh later said the authorities had retained Nganang's Cameroonian passport and that he would be placed on an afternoon flight to the United States.

"According to (the government), he is an American who does not have a right to this passport," Simh said.

Nganang's supporters say the accusations against him were politically motivated and related to a Dec. 5 piece he wrote for Paris-based magazine Jeune Afrique, in which he criticized a government crackdown on Cameroon's English-speaking minority.

Since last year, the government, which is dominated by members of the French-speaking majority, has repressed protests by English speakers who say they are socially and economically marginalised.

Dozens of civilians have been killed in unrest that has fuelled support for separatists seeking an independent state. Some separatists have launched armed attacks on state forces, creating the most serious challenge to Biya's 35-year rule.

Thousands of English speakers have fled across the border into neighboring Nigeria.

Cameroonian law forbids adults from holding dual nationality, although the prohibition is unevenly enforced.

English speakers make up around a fifth of the population of Cameroon, which was formed when parts of a formerly British-ruled territory joined the larger, newly independent French-speaking Republic of Cameroon in 1961.

The past year's violence is the latest example of how Biya's rule has grown increasingly intolerant of dissent, with opposition activists, journalists and intellectuals routinely arrested and sometimes prosecuted.

A Cameroonian reporter for Radio France Internationale was released from prison last week after more than two years behind bars for contact with the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, in a case that drew international condemnation.

Man who went viral for tattooing his wife on his back allegedly strangles her to death | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 05:14 PM PST

In September this year, this beautiful couple went viral after he tattooed her face on his back to mark their wedding anniversary.

Now,he has been accused of strangling pregnant wife and pushing her down a flight of stairs.

According to the NY Post,

A pregnant mom was found dead Wednesday at the bottom of a basement staircase inside her Brooklyn home – and cops suspect her husband strangled her, police sources said.
Investigators are treating the death as a possible homicide, Deputy Chief Michael Kemper, Commanding Officer of Detective Borough Brooklyn North told reporters.

Tonie Wells, 22, was found dead with bruising to her neck following the 9:50 a.m. incident at the Crown Heights residence on Sterling Place after neighbors reportedly heard the cries of her two-year-old daughter and called the cops, according to cops..
Sources say cops are "actively looking for" Wells' 29-year-old husband, Barry Wells, for questioning.

"Witnesses heard an argument and something falling down the stairs," a high-ranking police source said.

Neighbor Michelle Ruiz, 22, who last saw the young mom three weeks ago, confirmed that Wells was pregnant and sources say police are aware of a social media post by Wells detailing that she was 8-months pregnant.

"They seemed like a nice family," Ruiz said of the couple, whose Facebook pages are both filled with photos of each other.
"I would see them together. She was nice. He was always pleasant. This is a very quiet block, I didn't hear anything today. I'm still in shock," Ruiz said. "I would never think in a million years something like this would happen."

Kemper said Wells' death was deemed suspicious.

"Preliminarily, the deceased female has bruising on her neck and it appears as if she was either pushed or fell down the flight of stairs leading to the basement," Kemper said.

The Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of the death.

Cops have previously responded to a report of one other domestic incident at the home, authorities said
