I have not had sex this year - Orezi | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 04:02 AM PST

Singer Orezi, has revealed that he is yet to sleep with anyone this year.

Speaking on his relationship status and letting it remain so, Orezi told Sunday Punch;

"I am not in a relationship at the moment because I have yet to meet a lady I like. I have been single for about a year now and I have not had sex with any woman since I'm not dating anyone. But I must admit that it is not always easy to stay away from women because they compliment us.

He continued;
"If you are not successful, women will not come after you. I am aware that I must get married someday, but I don't know when because I must plan things well. No doubt, there is pressure from my father and mother, but I believe it will happen at the right time.

"Inasmuch as we have promiscuous women in Nigeria, I believe we have the good ones too. But the truth is everyone cannot be good. Even in the Bible, we have good and bad people. In the church too, we have bad and good women."

On Rihanna, Orezi said;

"I have yet to meet Rihanna. The last time I thought I met her was in my dream. Something interrupted the dream and I woke up.

"I admire everything about her. Apart from being a pretty woman, she is a goal getter and she has achieved so much in life at a very young age. She ventured into cosmetics this year and she is doing well. I just admire her as an artiste and individual."

On meeting his goals for the year, he said;

He explained, "This year is better for me because I am now my own CEO, which is a big progress. Though I have been doing things on my own, I plan to unveil my record company in January. So far, I have released three singles and they are all doing well. The recent song I released two months ago was Halleluyah. I didn't exactly meet all my goals this year, but I still give thanks to God."

I once prayed for my enemy to die - Daddy Freeze | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 03:47 AM PST

Controversial media personality has made a shocking revealation.

According to him, he has once prayed for an enemy to die, but that was when he was ignorant about God.

You have been fed so many lies and such malicious heresy from the pulpit, that you have become so repulsed by the truth, when confronted with it, develop a severe allergic reaction.
Suffer a witch to live is NOT Christianity, it's taken from the same part of the Bible that admonishes us to kill our stubborn children.
I won't lie, I have prayed for an enemy to die before, but that's when I worshiped God in ignorance of his grace. There is so much we were taught in error that we all need to 'unlearn' before we can abide in the fullness of his grace.
Remember what I did to that pastor that drives a black G63 when he cursed me? I blessed him with my forgiveness, hard as it may be. Not only did he curse me, he went ahead to try to get me fired from my place of work. Yet not once did I curse him or wish him evil.

Why I am angry with M.I - Vector | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 03:32 AM PST

Ace rapper Vector, has finally revealed why he is angry with M.I after the latter's track 'You Rappers Should Fix Your Life,' a song taht bluntly stated S.A rappers were better than Nigerains.

this of course did not go down well with Vector.

Speaking on his hurt, Vector said;

"No matter how much your parents flog you, they will not tell outsiders that you are a stupid child. He doesn't have to say it openly that SA rappers are 'killing' Nigerian rappers. I have never said this before, but the simple truth is that we shouldn't wash our dirty linen in public. It is fine to discipline people at home and I support that. If your children mess up, you can discipline them.

"When Jay-Z released the Death of Auto-Tune, he addressed everyone and said they should all go back to rap music. He didn't say a group of rappers is doing better than one group. I didn't like the fact that he called out Nigerian rappers openly and was comparing us with SA rappers."

On why he is yet to collaborate with M.I, he said;

"We tried to work together on two different occasions, but it just didn't happen. The first time was when he sent a beat to me to work on and he was supposed to be on the remix of my song, King Kong. Classiq later took his verse and did very well. We can still do something together later in the future. It is music; it is nothing serious," he noted.

Comedian Akpororo finally reveals why he chose to build his mansion at Okokomaiko | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 03:17 AM PST

Cmedian Akpororo needs little or no introduction in and out of the entertainment industry.

The funny ma who made news a few week ago for building a mansion in Okokomaiko area of Lagos has revealed his reason for choosing that location.

Read his interview with Sunday Punch.

Jephthah Bowoto, aka Akpororo, speaks with OLUSHOLA RICKETTS, about his rise from humble beginnings, marriage, Yung6ix, and other things.
Was the turnout at your show, Akpororo vs Akpororo, what you expected?
I had a sold-out show, and I was so happy. I am preparing for next year, which will be the fifth edition. We bless God for the turnout this year and for making it a success. I must confess that this year has been good for me and you can see that yourself too. You can see that I am moving forward.
Do you have plans to venture into movies like some of your colleagues?

I would love to go into acting fully, but the job has to be good. If the scripts I get are good and the money is okay, nothing stops me from acting. The truth is, many directors have approached me, but I am usually not okay with the money they offer. I wouldn't take an acting job if it is not worth it. We all know that acting is time-consuming.
You seem to be a good dancer; why did you settle for comedy?
Yes, I dance quite well, but I have never thought of being a professional dancer. While growing up in Warri, Delta State, I went for competitions. I was very young then, my mother was always with me. I love dancing and it is even part of my craft as a comedian. You can see that I dance a lot on stage while performing. If I decide to take dance seriously now, I will still do well with it. My wife also dances well and it is certain that we must learn from each other. In the near future, I plan to dance with my wife on stage during my annual show.
Did you ask your wife to stop dancing after you got married to her?
Every man has what he wants or likes. Before we got married, we discussed how to live as husband and wife, and I don't need to share what we agreed to with the public.
How would you describe your marital experience so far?
We have been married for two years and we are still growing. I am grateful to God for seeing us through. When I look back, it seems like it was just yesterday that we got married. As I pray for a happy home, my wife prays too because we all want the best. I am happy that I have a home now. When you cross the bridge with the right person, you will be very happy.
For how long did you know your wife before you got married?
We had known each other for many years. Before we started dating, I was already a friend to her family; I mean the Xplicit Dance Group. You know she is a dancer. Though I liked her from the outset, I didn't show interest early because a colleague claimed they had something together. But three years ago, I knew I wanted to get married and I made my intention known to her. I let her know that I wanted her for marriage; I didn't even know she was thinking of marriage too at that point. For someone who is into entertainment, I think the best thing is to marry a woman who can stay at home. I know some entertainers don't mind getting married to someone in the same industry. Different things work for different people, but we should always pray to God for direction.
Is it true that your wife is an orphan?
My wife's father is still alive. But her mother handed my wife and her brother over to the founder of Xplicit Dance Group, Mr. David Abraham, when they were little. The mother did that because of certain things I am not at liberty to discuss. She is no more now, but the reason she asked Mr. David to be their guardian was more of a domestic issue and she felt they would do well with him. They were four children and she needed to keep them safe. When I first met them too, I thought they were all orphans. So, I don't blame anyone who thinks she is an orphan.
Why did you choose to build your house in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos?
I have my privacy because I have my own house now. I tell people that if you like what you see in Lekki, Magodo or Victoria Island, you can recreate it wherever you stay. That is what I did. Okokomaiko is not a place you should be afraid of living. Even in Lekki that we think is a place for the rich alone, there are some parts of the area that are not nice.I was born on the streets, so I cannot be harassed. I walk freely without fear. I also go to the field to play football with friends in the evening. The reason bad things happen to people is that their minds are full of evil. My belief is that anything you think of would come to pass in your life. In anything I do in life, I always look at the positive side.
Why don't you want to live in Lekki or any other highbrow area?
Okokomaiko is where I choose to live; it is my plan. If God asks me to move, I will surely move. For now, this is where I love and I believe being in the area gives hope to people. I organise a monthly programme tagged, Street Praise, where we come together to praise and thank God. We dance and encourage each other. I just love the place. I feel there is something about that area that makes people work hard. I am not interested in living in Lekki or Magodo for now. When the time comes, I will go there.
Why didn't you address the allegations that your wife was promiscuous while in the university?
I am an entertainer, so I didn't need to reply them. I am not normally a man to bear grudges. I have spoken about it in the form of a joke and I have moved on. Being silent has really helped me. If you followed the story well; at the end of the day, I won. Though I didn't talk, my fans later replied them. Yung6ix is my friend, we are not fighting. The problem was that the so-called DJ wanted to take it to another level, which was not needed. That should tell you that I am a God-fearing person. If I like fighting, I would have taken it up with the DJ. But I don't have that time.
Have you made peace with Yung6ix?
If you watch the second part of the video, you will know that I meant no harm to him. It was just a joke. When the second part was released, everyone calmed down. I believe the media also aggravated everything. If the media wants to scatter things, it costs them nothing. And if the media wants to arrange things, it costs nothing too. As an entertainer, you have to understand this. So, anytime they scatter it, you stand firm and whenever they build it again, you are there as well. A good name is better than riches and that is the legacy I am trying to maintain. I want to help the people around me. I understand that one cannot be good in the eyes of everyone, but I always try to give my best.
How are your parents?
They are fine. I don't just fancy the idea of sharing certain things on social media. Yes, I am an entertainer, but I choose to keep some things about me private. My parents are based in Warri, Delta State.
How many siblings do you have?
I am the eldest of five children. I have a brother who is a DJ and rapper; he is doing well in Warri. My mother's brother, known as Oga Prince, is a comedian too. He performed at my last show. He is funny, so people should get ready for him.
Is it true that Nigerian comedians are divided?
I don't belong to any caucus. I am on my own. Akpororo is a friend to all. I don't think there are caucuses because everyone in the industry gives me jobs.
What would you have ventured into if not comedy?
I might have been a musician or footballer. If I didn't do music, I would have pursued a career in football. I took football seriously before, but there was no one to sponsor me. I just had to leave it, but I still play football for fun.

If we end SARS, robbers will take over — Police | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 12:52 AM PST

The Force Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, has revealed why they can't end SARS ,noting if the unit is scrapped ,Armed robbers would take over .When asked why the re-organisation of SARS took so long,he told Punch
I won't argue that it took some time for the re-organisation. Since the IG assumed office, he has been instituting internal reforms in the operation of the force. He also fashioned out some creed which is like our Bible or Quran guiding our work. This creed has been drummed into the operatives and everywhere he goes, he impresses it on the personnel to respect human rights, shun corruption and indiscipline and to be civil. To say it took us long to re-organise the squad would not be correct because when he assumed office, he directed the training of SARS operatives by some civil organisations and the Red Cross. What we are saying is that, some of the complaints in the social media are genuine, and some happened five, six years ago and some are bringing them up now. We know that any organisation that is subject to public opinion has to grapple with the responsibility of educating the public constantly. We can't say because there are one or two infractions, we should end SARS because if you end SARS, robbers would take over. We appreciate the patriotism of those demanding an end to SARS, but other groups are equally saying, reform SARS. So if they have any complaint against the unit, let them tell us and it would be addressed.

Since you admitted that some complaints against SARS were genuine, why did you say those behind #EndSARS campaign are armed robbers?

We issued a press release and there was nowhere I mentioned that those calling for end to SARS are armed robbers. I never said that, but people can twist any issue. As a well-bred public relations officer, I would never call anybody armed robber. People should know where the calls are coming from, so anybody that has complaint against SARS should come forward. Like I said, some of them are genuine, but people should follow up on their complaints. We want those behind the campaign against SARS to have a rethink and join us in supporting SARS for the safety of all Nigerians.

What punishment awaits any SARS operative indicted for professional misconduct?

We don't spare anyone found wanting. If anyone is found wanting, the appropriate measure would be taken. In this regard, if it is the rank and file, such officer would be defaulted, or dismissed from the Force if he was indicted for discreditable conduct. Most of the time, what we witnessed is the complainant pleading on behalf of an indicted officer or not showing up in court to give evidence.

I auditioned for 8 years before getting into BBN -Bisola | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 12:27 AM PST

Bisola Aiyeola ,the second runner up of the 2017 edition of the Big Brother Nigeria reality TV show revealed she auditioned for 8 years before she got her chance this year.

Read excerpts from her interview with the Nation

Let's talk about Big Brother Nigeria (BBN). What gave you the drive to do the things that you did on the show?

It is quite interesting because I had been auditioning for about eight years before I finally got it last year. The truth of the matter is that I didn't know anybody but I was determined to make the best from that experience. Right now, I am having auditions here and there. From all the experiences, I would say that no two auditions are the same. Everyone is different and it was always a refreshing experience. So for the Big Brother Nigeria, I went for the audition and gradually I was selected.14 of us contested and I got in, tried my best. The truth of the matter is that it was a tough contest, not like a music contest. Here, you can't really tell how it was going to go.

What is life as a celebrity like? Is it something that you enjoy?

It has been very interesting for me. It is part of my life now and I would say that it is what I signed to be. I am living it out and it has been an interesting journey.

Are there things that you used to do that you cannot do anymore?

Yes, there are so many things that I used to do that I cannot do anymore. I love taking a stroll around my neighbourhood but I can't really do that anymore. I also love to go to the markets like Ketu and Mile 12 markets but these days I can't do that anymore.

Women born to older mothers are less likely to have kids | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Dec 2017 12:27 AM PST

The older a woman's mother was when she was born, the less likely she is to have children, according to a new study.

Canadian researchers analyzed health records of 43,135 American women and found that nearly 20% of women born to mothers older than age 30 remained childless. The figure was 15% for women whose moms gave birth to them between 20 and 24. Of women born to teenaged mothers, 13% of them never went on to have kids.

Those figures are not adjusted for such factors as education level, number of siblings, birth order and other variables and further study is needed to fully understand the link, study leader Olga Basso, an epidemiologist at McGill University, told the Daily News.

Still, the findings published in the journal Human Reproduction are noteworthy because women in America are having babies later in life for a number of factors, including pursuing advanced degrees and establishing careers.

"I do not have an explanation for this link — the findings were very consistent, so it may be biology, but it may also be social or familial factors that we have not considered," Basso told The News.
"I am thinking about examining other aspects of this link this further — as I think it is interesting and important, given that couples wait longer to have children. I plan to examine other aspects of this in these data, and also collaborate with others interested in the question."

10 Facts About Miracles That Will Build Your Faith

To some, the word miracle is used somewhat promiscuously to describe everything from healing a paralytic to finding a parking space at the mall on the day before Christmas. So we begin our ten things we should all know about miracles with a definition.

Max Turner, a professor of New Testament at London Bible College, uses the term in the semi-technical sense of an event that combines the following traits:
it is an extraordinary or startling observable event; it cannot reasonably be explained in terms of human abilities or other known forces in the world; it is perceived as a direct act of God; and it is usually understood to have symbolic or sign value (e.g., pointing to God as redeemer and judge).
Part of the problem is that many Christians envision God as remote from the world, removed from any direct involvement in their lives on a daily basis. Yet there are numerous texts that assert God's immediate involvement in everything from the growth of a blade of grass (Psalms 104) to the sustaining of our very lives (Acts 17; Colossians 1:17).

For this reason we must reject the definition of a miracle as a direct intervention of God into the world. The phrase "intervention into" implies that God is outside the world and only occasionally intrudes in its affairs...

1. God can work outside (or within) the natural realm to bring about a miracle.
Some define a miracle as God working in the world apart from means, or an instrument, that would bring about the desired result. But God often uses instruments in performing the miraculous, as in the case of Jesus' feeding of the five thousand by means of multiplying one little boy's lunch.

Others define a miracle as God acting contrary to natural law. But this implies there are forces (natural laws) that operate independently of God, forces or laws that God must violate or override to perform a miracle. But God is the author and providential Lord over all natural processes.

A more helpful definition of "miracle":
Wayne Grudem has proposed a definition that avoids the virus of deism while seeking to remain faithful to the Scriptures: "A miracle," says Grudem, "is a less common kind of God's activity in which he arouses people's awe and wonder and bears witness to himself." What's important for us to remember is that no matter how we define a miracle, we must not think that a miracle means a typically absent God is now present.

Rather, the God who is always and everywhere present, upholding and sustaining and directing all things to their appointed consummation, is now working in a surprising and unfamiliar way. This also helps us answer the question of whether unusual answers to prayer are miracles. I would say yes—if such answers are sufficiently unusual to arouse awe and wonder and to evoke acknowledgement of God's power and activity (e.g., 1 Kings 18:24, 36-38; Acts 12:5-17; 28:8).

2. Miracles are part of the work of the Spirit.
It will help us to understand miracles by looking at Galatians 3:1-5 where the apostle Paul clearly describes both the initial reception of the Spirit at the moment of salvation ("Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?" v. 2) and the on-going supply and provision of the Spirit throughout the course of the Christian life ("Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?" v. 5).

3. We don't "earn" miracles by doing good.
Clearly, God never gives his Spirit at any time or works miracles because we have put him in our debt by doing good things. Obedience to the law, says Paul, is not the reason why or the instrument through which God gives his Spirit to his people, whether that be at the point of their conversion or at any time during their Christian lives. In other words, Paul is ruling out any form of legalism or works-based approach to our experience of the Spirit. Twice in this paragraph, first in v. 2 and then again in v. 5, Paul rules out "works of the law" as the reason why we experience God's Spirit.

4. Faith is the grounds for our experience of miracles.
Just as clearly as Paul ruled out works as the reason why we receive God's Spirit he affirms that faith is the cause, faith is the instrument, faith is the grounds for our experience of the Spirit. Again, in both v. 2 and in v. 5 it is "by hearing with faith" that God bestows his Spirit. It is when we believe and trust God and his promises that he is pleased to pour out his Spirit, not only for the purpose of saving us and causing the Spirit to indwell us permanently (v. 2) but also for the purpose of working miracles in our midst.

5. The faith to experience miracles comes from hearing...
The faith to which God responds by giving us his Spirit comes by "hearing". Hearing what? Obviously we "hear" the word of God when it is proclaimed or taught or read. Anytime the truth about God and the gospel of Jesus Christ is heard and believed and trusted and treasured and embraced, God responds by pouring out his Spirit.

...but hearing must be followed by faith.
Merely "hearing" isn't enough. We must have "faith" in what we've heard. Simply listening to a sermon isn't enough. Just reading your Bible isn't enough. Memorizing Scripture is wonderful, but if you don't believe what you've memorized it serves no good end. Reading theology books is wonderful, but if you never move beyond understanding to faith in what you've read, it profits you nothing. God doesn't reward us with the Spirit simply because we're smart or well-educated. People can know a lot about the Bible and can out-argue anyone theologically and never be the recipient of the miracle-working power of the Spirit.

In both Galatians 3:2 and 5 Paul says that our hearing must be the sort that leads to faith. In other words, we have to "believe in" and "trust" and "treasure" what God has taught us or said to us in his Word. That's what pleases God. That's what serves as the instrument through which he pours out his Spirit.

6. God promises to supply His Spirit – continually.
Observe closely how God himself is described in Galatians 3:5. He is portrayed as "he who supplies the Spirit to you." This is a present tense participle. In other words, God is by his very nature and also by his choice a God who loves to give more of his Spirit to his people when they humble themselves and trust the truth of his Word. This is almost a badge of identification. God is saying, "This is who I am. This is what I do. I continually supply the Spirit to my people."

7. Miracles – and other provisions of the Spirit – happen among God's people.
Don't forget that Paul is writing to Christians! These people in Galatia have already trusted Christ for their salvation. Back in Galatians 3:2 Paul referred to the provision of the Spirit that God made to them when they first trusted Jesus for salvation. But now in Galatians 3:5 he is saying that God continues to make provision for believing men and women. I stress this point simply because this is one verse that should forever put to rest the debate about whether God continues after our conversion to supply and provide us with more and more of the Spirit. He doesn't call this experience in Galatians 3:5 "Spirit baptism" or "Spirit filling". He doesn't use the word "anointing". But does it really matter? All that matters is that God is the sort of God whose very nature and purpose it is to give more of his Spirit on an on-going, daily basis to his people.

8. We need to have confidence in the character of God...
What specifically is it that God wants us to believe? In other words, what is the content or object of our "faith" to which God answers with the extraordinary supply and provision of his Spirit? We aren't told explicitly, but I think I know. There are several things Paul likely has in mind.

Given the larger context and purpose of the letter to the Galatians, he surely has in mind our faith in the finality of Christ's death and resurrection and our confidence in that gracious work of God as the only hope for salvation. In other words, believing that we are justified by faith alone, through grace alone, in Christ alone is central to what we must believe. This is obvious when we read on in v. 6 of Galatians 5 where Paul speaks of Abraham "believing" God and being justified as a result.

I also think Paul has in mind our faith and confidence in the character of God. Do you believe God is the sort of God who loves to do wonderful things for his people? Do you believe God is the kind of God who delights to build up and restore and heal? Do you believe that God is of such a character and nature that he has compassion on his people and rejoices to do them good at all times? Believing this about God is crucial to our experience of the supernatural work of the Spirit.

...and know He is able to do things.
Related to the former point is our faith that God is able to do such things. You may think that goes without saying. Surely if you are a Christian you know and are confident that God can do miraculous things for us. But may I remind you that Jesus always responded to that sort of faith with healing and deliverance and blessing. Let me give you a couple of examples of this. In Matthew 9:28-29 Jesus said this to two blind men: "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord." Then Jesus touched their eyes saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." And they were instantly healed.

According to what "faith"? What exactly had they believed that led Jesus to heal them? It wasn't their belief or faith that it was his "will" to heal them. Jesus never asked them, "Do you believe that I am willing to heal you?" He merely asked if they believed he was "able" to heal them and when they said Yes, he healed them.
The leper in Matthew 8 said to Jesus, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean" (v. 2). The leper didn't question Christ's ability. He trusted that completely. He did have doubts about the willingness of Jesus to do it. But Jesus didn't rebuke him for such doubts, as if it were a shortcoming in his faith that might jeopardize his healing. He healed him because of his confidence that he could do it.

9. Miracles weren't just the work of apostles – they happened among average Christians.
God is working miracles among and through these Galatian Christians in the absence of any apostolic influence. As far as we know, there were no apostles present in Galatia when Paul wrote this. Thus contrary to what most cessationists say, miracles were not exclusively or even primarily the work of apostles but were typically found among ordinary, average Christians like those in first-century Galatia.

10. The word often translated "miracles" in 1 Corinthians 12:10 is actually the Greek word for "powers".
In conclusion, consider how this passage relates to what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:10 and the spiritual gift of "miracles". The most literal translation of Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 12:10 is "workings of powers" (energemata dunameon). Although all gifts are "workings" (energemata) or "energizings" by divine power (compare to vv. 6, 11), the word is used here in conjunction with "powers" (dunamis) for a particular gift. The word often translated "miracles" in 1 Corinthians 12:10 is actually the Greek word for powers (dunamis). Thus we again have a double plural, "workings of powers," which probably points to a certain variety in these operations.

So, does God "work miracles" among us, or do gifted individuals "work miracles" among us? Yes! God "works miracles" among us by awakening faith in his Word, in conjunction with or as a result of which he imparts a gracious divine enabling (i.e., a charisma, a gift) so that the believer can "work miracles" among us.

Finally, what are these "workings" or "effectings" or "productions" of "powers"?

"Workings", "effectings", "productions", and "powers":
Whereas all the gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 are certainly miraculous, the gift of miracles must primarily encompass other supernatural phenomena as well. Simply put, whereas all healings and prophetic words are displays of power, not all displays of power result in healing or prophetic words.

Several possible manifestations of divine power may be included in what Paul means by "workings of powers" or "miracles." Consider the following: see Acts 9:40 where Peter raised Tabitha/Dorcas from the dead (although even this is a healing in the strictest sense of the term). Or consider Acts 13:8-11 where Paul induced blindness on Elymas. One might also include here Peter's word of disciplinary judgment that resulted in the immediate death of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11). Perhaps nature miracles would be included here, such as turning water to wine, stilling the storm on the Sea of Galilee, reproducing food, and causing the rain to cease (or commence), as with Elijah. We might also include supernatural deliverances (exorcisms) are in view as well.
