EFCC Detains Jonathan’s Campaign Chief over $48m Fraud Posted: 22 Dec 2017 02:12 AM PST How was $48,485,127 diverted from the accounts of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF)? This is the knot Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is battling to untie and a top woman has been arrested. Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, former NSITF chair, was quizzed for hours yesterday over the alleged diversion of the fund. Olojeme, who was declared wanted a few weeks ago by the EFCC on the order of a court, turned herself in. The EFCC had arraigned a former Managing Director of NSITF, Umar Munir Abubakar and four others for alleged diversion of N18billion. The cash was said to be the Federal Government's contribution to take-off grants and Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) for Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The others are Henry Ekhasomi Sambo, Adebayo Adebowale Aderibigbe, Chief Richard U. Uche and Aderemi Adegboyega. According to a source, the ex-NSITF chairman reported to EFCC after going underground for a while. The source said: "We have been investigating over N62.3billion fraud in NSITF during Olojeme's tenure between 2009 and 2015. Out of the sum, preliminary findings indicated that the ex-NSITF boss allegedly diverted $48, 485, 127. "She allegedly used her account officer in First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) to collect the $48.4m from some NSITF contractors through a BDC operator." The Nation obtained the report on the probe. It states: "That through this process, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, the then NSITF board chairman, has collected $48,485,127 from her account officer at FBN, which cash he collected on her behalf being the dollar equivalent of monies paid to BDCs by NSITF contractors. "She and others also diverted huge cash allocated for allowances of its staff and compensation to contributors. Detectives actually traced some of the NSITF funds in the personal accounts of Olojeme and the former MD, Umar Abubakar. "For instance, Abubakar and others converted N18billion, being contribution from the Federal Government as take-off grants and Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) for MDAs. "The said sum was diverted into personal accounts by an e-payment mandate jointly signed by Umar Munir Abubakar and Henry Ekhasomi Sambo." The report added: "It was discovered that the NSITF accounts in First Bank and other banks have witnessed a total turnover of over N62,358,401,927 between 2012 and 2015 from the Employee Compensation Scheme contributions. "That out of the N62b, the Federal Government contributed N13,600,000,000 while N48,758,401,927.80 was contributed by the private sector. That there were several payments to individuals and companies from the NSITF bank accounts for purported contracts or consultancy services. "That some individuals and companies that received these payments, in turn, transferred part of the monies directly to the NSITF officials while others transferred huge sums to bureaux de change operators who changed them to dollars." The source said: "Olojeme has made useful statement to our team of investigators. We are probing clues that some of the looted cash had been diverted to the prosecution of the 2015 general election because Olojeme was the Deputy Chairman, Finance Committee, of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation. "From preliminary findings, she is likely to face trial like other top officers of NSITF." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

5 Nutritious Foods That Slows Ageing Posted: 21 Dec 2017 10:17 PM PST There are certain foods that could slow ageing by improving your metabolism and boosting your energy. So, even by the time you hit forty, your skin will still appear smooth with little or no wrinkles. Accordingly, Jumia Food identifies anti-ageing food you should be eating. Seafood Seafood such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, and sardines contain substantial healthy fats that help moisturize your skin. It also protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation damage naturally. Eggs To protect your eyesight, eat the yolk. It features nutrients that lower your risk of cataracts and age-related eye degeneration. Cucumbers There is a lot of water in cucumbers, which makes it an excellent choice for additional hydration that replenishes your body cells. Also, its silica content is a natural wrinkle fighter that gives your body a radiant skin. Strawberries Strawberries contain flavonoids (healthy chemicals that give fruits and veggies their colour) with antioxidant powers that could keep your heart young. Regularly eating them and other flavonoid-rich foods like apples and pears could also reduce the risk of heart disease. Milk As you age, you lose bone and muscle. Milk helps counter this because it's packed with two anti-ageing nutrients—protein and calcium. Downing a cup of milk daily won't be a bad idea. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Photos: Woman stopped by police who thought she was walking naked | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 21 Dec 2017 12:28 PM PST A woman was stopped by police who thought she was wandering around the streets half-naked in the middle of the day. Abbie Crawford was walking in a tiny pair of hotpants that were obscured by her coat. The 25-year-old, who went viral after confused locals in Newton-Le-Willows in Merseyside took photos of her after mistaking her for being naked. She told The Sun: 'They're my pulling shorts. I wear them when I crave attention – and obviously they never fail me.' Abbie added that she found it 'hilarious' that her favourite pair of shorts, from Topshop, had got so much attention. She said: 'I had my music in, so didn't notice anyone saying anything or looking at me in a funny way. My friend only just showed me the picture yesterday – I was stunned, I couldn't believe it.' As Abbie walked along the pavement with her headphones, people stopped and stared, believe she had gone out without underwear. Officers eventually caught up with Abbie and, after establishing she was in fact wearing clothes, advised her to dress appropriately. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Charles Manson’s body remains ‘on ice’ over a month after his death | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 21 Dec 2017 11:08 AM PST The body of mass murderer Charles Manson remains in limbo, more than a month after his death. "His body is still here. He hasn't been cremated," Sgt. Stephen Wells, a spokesman for the coroner division of the Kern County Sheriff's Office, told the Daily News. "Basically, he's on ice," Wells said. Manson died from heart failure and colon cancer on Nov. 19 at a hospital in Bakersfield, Calif. A heavily redacted prison worksheet obtained by The News said the wild-eyed cult leader weighed only 127 pounds when he took his last breath at age 83. His grandson Jason Freeman, 41, filed a probate case for Manson in Los Angeles County on Dec. 7 and has a court date next month. Two other men who were prison pen pals with Manson have claimed they received wills from the convicted killer over the years and planned to seek custody of his remains. So far, the Kern County Sheriff hasn't formally recognized anyone as next of kin. "We've been in contact with somebody, but nothing has been established. So we're still actively seeking the next of kin. Once that is established, they'll make the decision," Wells said. "The next of kin chooses the manner of disposition." Manson's followers killed six people during a terrifying two-night murder spree in August 1969. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Innoson boss arrives Enugu amidst jubilation | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 21 Dec 2017 11:08 AM PST Jubilant crowd Thursday stormed the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu to receive the Chairman of INNOSON Vehicle Manufacturing Company, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, who was arrested Tuesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations of jumping bail. He was later released by the same commission after being flown to Lagos. As early as 10am, traditional dances as well as masquerades gathered at the airport waiting the arrival of the industrialist said to be the biggest employer of labour East of the Niger. His aircraft touched ground at about 2.05 pm. As soon as the crowd sighted him, they went into wild jubilation. A long convoy of cars joined in escorting Chukwuma to his Enugu residence, with chants of solidarity songs. Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the EFCC to newsmen on his arrival at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Chukwuma said EFCC operatives jumped into his house and took him away to Lagos in short-knicker and singlet. He, expressed surprise that the EFCC, which arrested him, could not tell him the offence he committed, disclosing that he refused to go after he was released until the commission tells him the offence he committed. Chukwuma told newsmen that after the GTB wrote a false petition against him, the EFCC jumped into his house and whisked him away, regretting that up till now the EFCC refused to tell him the offence he committed. His word: "I thank everybody who fought for this matter because I was surprised that in the early morning they jumped into my house, I thought it was kidnappers or armed robbers but finally I noticed it was EFCC. Around 7:30 in the morning they said they want to arrest me and I joined them to their office and up till now they have not told me my offence. "When I got there, they said I should go but they didn't tell me what I did. They arrested me like a criminal took me to their office and after to the airport on shorts and singlet to Lagos. He further volunteered in a statement he personally signed that he intends to work faithfully with the EFCC on the alleged investigation so as to clear his name, which he said has been badly damaged, adding that he will follow up the so called investigation to its logical conclusion. He expressed his gratitude to fellow countrymen who stood by him in this period of "my illegal arrest by the EFCC". "May I use this opportunity to express my gratitude to fellow countrymen who stood by me in this period of my illegal arrest by the EFCC. Firstly, I want to thank Mr. President, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR for his believe in the rule of law. The Nation culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
