"FG Building New Prison, Planning To Arrest Us In 2018"-PDP | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Dec 2017 02:12 AM PST The Peoples Democratic Party, on Tuesday, alleged that the Federal Government was building more prisons. It also said that the government was planning to descend on PDP members in 2018. The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus, stated these in Abuja at the opening of a two-day retreat for members of the newly elected National Working Committee of the party. Secondus warned that those building the prisons might be the occupiers, adding that it was wrong for the Federal Government to be persecuting members of the PDP because of their refusal to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress. He said, "We learnt that they are building more prisons. Let them go ahead and build more. They will be the one to stay there. "APC should stop intimidating our leaders. We will no longer take it; enough is enough. "Enough of this; we are not in a military era. What I am telling them is that God is not sleeping. When the time comes, the people will speak through their votes.Punch culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Philippine president defends 17 year old granddaughter's lavish photoshoot | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Dec 2017 01:22 AM PST Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has defended his granddaughter's lavish photoshoot after she posed in a £10,000 dress for her coming-of-age ceremony. Pictures show 17-year-old Isabelle Lovelie Duterte, the daughter of the President's first son Paulo, in a red ballgown at the presidential palace in the capital, Manila. The opulent shoot has sparked anger online amid claims the dictator's wife, Imelda, was known for amassing a vast collection of more than 3,000 pairs of shoes. The photo session, which involved a host of make-up artists and stylists, was part of her 'debut' party ahead of her 18th birthday and the dress is said to have been made by top designers including Garimon Roferos Couture, based in Dubai. According to Rappler, he said at a birthday party for boxing star Manny Pacquiao: 'She is my relative. It's a small matter to use Malacanang. I wasn't there but even if I were, my granddaughter having her picture taken is just like visitors who go there and take pictures of themselves.' Durterte's spokesman Harry Roque said there was 'nothing wrong' with Isabelle's photoshoot. 'I think his relatives, including his own grandchildren, can have their pictures taken in Malacanang,' he added. I don't think it should be an issue because they should be living in Malacanang but they chose not to do so. They're like ordinary citizens who can have their pictures taken in Malacañang.' Rodrigo's eldest son, Davao City Vice-Mayor Paolo Duterte, is said to have paid for his daughter's phootshoot. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Parents pull kids from school as Ivanka Trump visits | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Dec 2017 12:42 AM PST First daughter and presidential adviser Ivanka Trump made a surprise visit to a Connecticut high school—prompting some parents who oppose President Trump's agenda to yank their kids from classes Monday. Trump appeared at the Norwalk Early College Academy to talk to its students about the importance of career education. "To see the passion and enthusiasm for bringing real life skills into a classroom environment but then coupling it with real life experience through internship creates this really beautiful virtuous angle," she said, News 12 New Jersey reported.Parents say they didn't know that Trump was scheduled to speak to their kids—information they suspect was withheld due to security concerns. "This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons," parent Karey Fitzgerald told News 12. "I think we should have had the choice to send our child to school or keep them home." she added. Not all parents were opposed to the visit. Parent Angela Yaneth Guzman replied to a photo from Trump's visit on Facebook, and thanked her for speaking to her son. "My son Nicolas Guzman is a NECA student and you talked to him today and he's so excited about it. It's something He will never forget. Thank you Ivanka," she wrote. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
6 Things To Do Before Moving from 2017 into 2018 Posted: 20 Dec 2017 12:41 AM PST For those who journeyed through a difficult 2017, the possibility of a new slate is a welcomed outlook. For others, the year was filled with fond memories and hold the hope for continued blessing. The end of a year has this unique and beautiful optimism that only a closed chapter can bring. We often reflect on the good and the bad, and look to the future with hopefulness. As you take in this time and embrace reflection, how can you make the most of this gift? What should you be doing to close 2017 and take on 2018? Here are things you can do as you step out of this year and into a new year; Write down what you learned in 2017 You would be remiss to exit the year without reflecting on what you learned. What did God teach you and show you about life, ministry, calling, and Himself? What lessons do you never want to forget? Take some time to think through all the lessons you acquired throughout the year. Maybe you learned something about yourself the hard way through a difficult trial. Perhaps truths were made aware of to you in Scripture. Consider all the ways God spoke to you and gather those lessons into one place so that you never forget. Account for your 2017 blessingsNo matter how hard your year was, surely God moved in beautiful and gracious ways. Every good gift--everything good thing you have--was given to you by God (James 1:7). Which means He deserves all the praise! Write down your blessings for the year and what you have to be thankful for. Then take time to bring thanksgiving to God for all the good He has done in your life over the last year. It's important to end anything with praise and gratitude, being sure to keep the focus on the One who deserves the recognition for it all! Forgive Unforgiveness can eat away at you and steal the joy offered by reconciliation. Don't take that kind of baggage into 2018 with you. It's time to forgive others and yourself. If there is a family member or friend you've been unwilling to forgive, pursue it now. Perhaps you were the one offended and now wait for them to approach you - make the first move. Forgiveness is such a beautiful gift extended to us by God; share it with others. Maybe it's not another person. Are you struggling to forgive yourself for making a heart-breaking decision or epic fail? If God can extend grace to you, how about extending a little grace to yourself. No person is perfect but God's love is and He'd rather you live in the fullness of His grace than in condemnation. Step into 2018 with a full heart made possible by forgiveness. How will 2018 be different? Now is a good time, after reflecting on 2017, to determine how you'd like the next year to look different. Maybe it's walking in forgiveness this next year, for example. Perhaps you're ready to make a go at pursuing your dreams instead of settling for less than what God has purposed you for. Do you feel the pull to be a better leader of your family, men? Or ladies, to put aside comparison? I don't know what you struggled with in 2017 but if there is something you're ready to leave in the past for a better 2018, what does that look like? Identify a theme for 2018 Every year I spend time in prayer and determine a theme for the new year. A word and Bible verse to guide an area I'd like to grow in. I would highly encourage you to pray and get into the Word to determine a guiding theme for the next year. An area you could grow in. Do you want to go "deeper" with God? Perhaps pursue "humility" to conquer a spirit of pride. Whatever that may look like for you, determine it, get it in you, and pursue it in 2018! Write out your 2018 goals Some might call them resolutions but I like the term goals a bit better. Something to aim for. You might not hit the mark on all the items but if you don't aim for something you'll never achieve anything. Write down goals for the year that you would like to aim for. Start that small business you've dreamed about for years by writing a business proposal. Finally take that cross-country road trip with your family. Increase your giving in finances, time, and kindness. This is a place for your dreams to begin or be renewed with commitment. [written by Brittany Rust] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Photo: Police arrest man with bag of stolen phones at the Experience concert | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 19 Dec 2017 07:27 PM PST The police have arrested a suspected pickpocket with seven stolen mobile phones belonging to gospel faithfuls that attended the annual musical concert tagged 'The Experience'. The suspect, Lateef Nurudeen of 10, Obadina Street, Lagos Island, was arrested by men of Rapid Response Squad in early December, 2017 at around 12:45 a.m. at the programme in Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. Lateef, 19 years old, who was in company of his six other colleagues at the convention, was sighted holding a bag where he concealed the seven stolen phones. The suspect who on interception by the officers posted to the venue of the convention told the police on interrogation that he was a barber. On further scrutiny, Lateef claimed that he saw the bag underneath a flower bed when he couldn't give satisfactory answer about the contents of the bag.. Found inside the bag were seven different mobiles phones, charms and purse. The purse contained identity card and ATM debit card belonging to one Chris Nkum Chinedu. The suspect, sources revealed, confessed to be the owner of the charms found inside the bag. Sources confirmed that he used the charms for protection. Already, investigators have identified four owners of the seven phones. The owners, who reported at the RRS headquarter in Alausa were: Ukwajiba Felix, Ekhorelen Ruth, Kpanou Estelle and Kemi Ahmed. The four owners reported at the RRS headquarters when officers called their relatives whose numbers were found on the stolen phones. The owners who have been looking for their mobile phones before leaving the venue of the programme noted that they didn't know when their phones were removed from their bags and pockets. One of the owners, Ukwajiuba, stated that immediately he discovered that his phone was missing, he reported the theft at Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos, where his details were taken.. The suspect, Lateef, an ex – convict stated that he saw the bag inside the flowers at TBS but owned up to being the owner of the charms found inside the bag. He confessed that the two charms found in the bags were for his protection, adding that he came to the church programme to pray and not to steal. Defending being in possession of charms at church crusade, he said, "I pray a lot. The charms are for my personal protection. They have been with me for ages. They were specially prepared for my protection against evil. I came to the crusade to pray. Efforts to track down the suspect's friends who were with him at convention by RRS proved abortive as they have all abandoned their hide outs. The Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal directed that the case be transferred immediately to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department while effort be intensified to arrest all other suspects involved in the theft. He ordered that the stolen phones be released to their owners once they can provide evidence of ownership. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Harvey Weinstein to give estranged wife $12m if she divorces him now | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 19 Dec 2017 12:32 PM PST Harvey Weinstein's predatory behavior could end up costing him more than just his reputation. The disgraced exec's estranged wife Georgina Chapman stands to walk away from their 10-year marriage with nearly $12 million, thanks to a solid prenuptial agreement, TMZ reports. The Marchesa co-founder,Chapman, 41, announced shortly after sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein broke in October that she was leaving the producer, but their marriage officially hit the 10-year milestone last week. When Weinstein, 65, wed the fashion designer in 2007, their prenup reportedly stated that Chapman would get $400,000 for each year of marriage should they stay wed at least ten years. Had they divorced before their tenth anniversary, she would have received $300,000 for each year. The rest of the money comes from her chunk of marital assets — for their first five years of marriage, she will receive $250,000 per year, and for the rest, $700,000 — and a housing allowance. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
