| 14 year old boy dies after posting photo of his pet cobra bite on socialmedia | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 19 Dec 2017 02:12 AM PST  The boy named only as Aril, was bitten on the arm by the pet snake while trying to take a picture of it at his home in Bundung Regency in Indonesia's West Java province. The 14-year-old posted the first of two images to his WhatsApp account at 9.50am local time, showing the snake spreading its hood moments before striking. According to Mailonline, the photo, on December 11, was captioned 'Why not smile a little' and has been reported as Aril's attempt to photograph his cobra after having given it a bath. The second picture at 9.54am showed blood on the boy's right arm, and he had also attempted to tie a shoelace around his limb to stop the venom from spreading to the rest of his body.  Between life and death' was the caption that came with the picture. 'Aril's status wasn't to boast [about his injury] but to ask his friends for help,' the boy's mother, Neuis Marpuah, was quoted as saying, adding that her son had been at home alone at the time of the incident. Reports said the boy later also wrote: 'If anyone considers themselves my friend, please take me to the hospital.' Someone arrived to take Aril to a hospital an hour later, but he was declared dead by medics at 10pm the same day, with emergency treatment failing to revive him. A police report said that Track had broken a window at the Palin home in the city of Wasilla to gain entry after his father Todd Palin refused to open the front door and threatened him with a gun. Track was later arrested after a short stand-off with police in which police allege he called them "peasants" and told them to disarm, and in which he at one point appeared on the garage roof and "moved around in a strange manner." Todd later told police the dispute began when Track called to say he was coming to collect his truck and Todd told him not to because he had been drinking and was on pain medication. "Track had told him that he was [going to] come anyway to beat his ass," the police report by officer Adam LaPointe read."Todd retrieved his pistol to protect his family." Track later told police that after Todd refused to open the front door, he looked through the window next to it and saw his father pointing a gun at him. "Track stated he told Todd to shoot him several times," the report said. Track then allegedly punched through the glass to gain entry, got Todd on the ground and began hitting him in the head. Todd, who had "blood from several cuts on his head and had liquid coming from his ear" when police interviewed him, was able to get away and as LaPointe arrived he said he saw Todd and Sarah driving away in separate cars. Sarah was "visibly upset," LaPointe said. After the stand-off with police, Track, who was still inside, eventually left the house and was arrested and charged with assault and burglary. He was still in custody on Monday, according to the LA Times and his bail had been set at 5,000 dollars. The Palins would not be commenting on the incident, according to a statement from their lawyer cited by the paper. Track, an Iraq war veteran, was arrested in January 2016 at the same house in Wasilla for punching his girlfriend. According to the LA Times, he later pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm while intoxicated in a plea deal that meant other charges were dismissed. Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, was the Republican party's vice presidential nominee in 2008, running unsuccessfully alongside presidential nominee Sen. John McCain. She quickly became a divisive figure, with many questioning her experience and knowledge, while others admired her outspokenness and willingness to take on the Republican establishment. The introduction of biometric visa was announced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mr Abubakar Magaji, at the 2017 End-of-Year Dinner and Award Night of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja on Monday. He represented the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), at the occasion. "You have made us proud because at this moment, Nigeria is the only country in Africa that is issuing biometric visa. | Does God Answer the Prayers of People Living in Sin? Posted: 19 Dec 2017 01:26 AM PST  But does God hear his prayer? Will God listen to the prayers of an unbeliever? This is a question I've received quite a few times. And it is one of which you can find many articles if you ask Google. The general consensus is that God does not hear the prayers of unbelievers, except for the prayer of repentance. Verses like John 9:31 and Isaiah 59:2 are given to show that God does not hear sinners while they remain in their sin. God answers the prayer of the righteous. In a very helpful article John MacArthur lists fifteen reasons for unanswered prayer. And it serves as a basic profile of an unbeliever. In my mind, though, we aren't asking the right question. The real question isn't whether or not God is going to give a person what they ask for if they are an unbeliever. That is not the nature of prayer. God is sovereign and he may or may not answer our requests. The real issue is whether or not an unbeliever has relational access to God apart from Christ. And that is a resounding no according to the Scriptures. I appreciate John Piper's words on this... As far as unbelievers are concerned, there is one prayer that we know God answers for them, the earnest plea to Christ for salvation. Whether God answers any other prayers of those who reject Christ is irrelevant. It is irrelevant whether persons who throw away eternal life and insist on going to hell are given a few earthly pleasures along the way. The only thing such pleasures will do for them, if they persist in their unbelief, is to make their guilt and their torment all the worse because they don't use them as an occasion for repentance. | Ex-Union Bank Manager Jailed For 19 Years For N27m Fraud Posted: 19 Dec 2017 12:51 AM PST  Owoleye, a Manager at the Union Bank Branch of Bank Road Kano who was prosecuted by the EFCC, for offences bordering on Obtaining by False Pretence contrary to sections 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and section 371 of the Penal code law, had pleaded not guilty and the prosecution, through its counsel A.T Habib, presented ten witnesses and tendered numerous exhibits in order to prove the case against him during his trial. On the 20th day of June 2012, the Kano State High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Dije Abdu Aboki found the accused person guilty on the three count charge that were preferred against him by the commission and convicted him accordingly. The appellant was subsequently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on count one, 7 years imprisonment on count 2 without option of fine. However, on count three, he was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with option of N300,000 fine. While the sentence in count one and two were to run concurrently, the appellant was to serve consecutive sentence in count three. Owoyele's road to prison started when the commission received a petition from one Ashiru Munzali Gambo that the convict obtained the sum N27,000,000 (Twenty Seven Million Naira) under a false pretence that he had $185,000 (one hundred and eighty-five thousand United States Dollars) to sell to him. Being dissatisfied with the judgment of the trial court, the convict approached the Kaduna division of the Court of Appeal in a bid to set aside the judgment of the lower court on three grounds. In a judgment delivered by Honourable Justice Bdlya Ibrahim all the issues raised by the appellant were resolved against the appellant and in favour of the respondents. The appeal was dismissed for lack of merit. | Suspected Assassins Kill NDDC Official Posted: 18 Dec 2017 10:01 PM PST  The incident came just six days after a similar incident, in which a banker, one Obaro Oji, was gunned down by yet to be accosted armed men around the Ekpan Bridge. According to eyewitnesses, the killers, who drove against the traffic in a Toyota Camry, trailed their target to the hospital, where he was said to have taken his wife to for medical care... He was reportedly shot pointblank as he came out of the hospital. An eye witness who simply gave his name as Onoriode said the deceased was a member of staff of the NDDC, adding that he hailed from Isoko ethnic group in the state. When contacted for confirmation of the incident, the Director Corporate Affairs of the NDDC, Ibitoye Abosede, said he couldn't not immediately confirm if there is anyone by the name of the deceased at the Warri office of the commission, but promised to do a check with some of those running the Warri office and get back with information. Meanwhile, when reached for an official confirmation Monday evening, the spokesman of the Delta state police command, Andrew Aniamaka (DSP), told The Nation that he was yet to get any situation report indicating such an incident. "You are about the second person who would be calling me over this, but the DPO of Ekpan has not given me any sitrep to indicate any such incident. I'll reach back to him and get back to you soon", Aniamaka said. Last week Tuesday, a gang of armed men had killed one Obaro Oji, an employee of an old generation bank branch in Warri, around the Ekpan Bridge, less than 500 metres away from where Agba was killed Monday. Speaking at the end-of-year seminar of the State House Press Corps at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Prof. Osinbajo said he earns about N1.5m as Vice-President; President Buhari earns about N1.75 million. To him, the pay is not commensurate with the offices they occupy. The vice president also expressed misgivings about the remuneration of journalists and lawyers, saying journalists' case is unique because many media owners make big revenue but simply refuse to pay good wages. He recalled his brief encounters working with media houses as legal adviser and how in all the months he worked he was not paid despite the irregular hours he put in. Osinbajo spoke of entry into journalism as not rigorously regulated or enforced by professional bodies because untrained persons are allowed in. He added: "I realised first of all that this (journalism) is not a profession from which one could make a decent living in the first place unless you find a really good way of doing so. The Vice-President urged journalists to brighten their prospects and future by always seeking ways of improving themselves and getting better job opportunities with attendant improved income. Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Kwara, was the chairman of the ceremony. | NYSC promises justice on Corps Member’s murder | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 18 Dec 2017 09:32 PM PST  Mr John Okpo, the Ogun NYSC Coordinator, gave the assurance during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Ibadan. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tawose was raped and killed on Dec. 9 in Ogun. Tawose, 23, a 2017 Batch 'A' corps member serving with the Ogun State Ministry of Housing in Abeokuta was allegedly lured to her death by her driving instructor, Festus Udoh, 29. Her decomposing body was discovered in a bush on Wednesday at Abule Ayo in Odeda Local Government Area where she was tied by her hands to a tree. The suspect, who had since confessed to the crime, is being remanded in prison while awaiting trial. Okpo, who said the NYSC was deeply saddened by the occurrence, prayed God to console the family and grant the deceased rest. "The NYSC family nationwide is sad over the raping and eventual murder of our beloved and patriotic corps member, Late Miss Modupe Tawose. "We strongly condemn the act and will go to any length to defend and fight for the rights of our members and in this case, ensure justice is delivered. "We will do all to ensure Mr Festus Udoh is brought to book as this will serve as a deterrent to other miscreants and evil doers in the society," he said. The NYSC boss used the opportunity to advise corps members to be security conscious always and promptly report any security threat to the appropriate authorities. "Corps members are to save the distress call centre numbers given to them during the orientation course in their various camps on the phones in case of emergencies. "They are also advised to move in groups and not to follow strangers, even known people with questionable characters," Okpo said.
