George Zimmerman threatens to feed JAY-Z to alligator | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 18 Dec 2017 01:07 AM PST

Controversial gunman George Zimmerman took a verbal shot at JAY-Z over the weekend, threatening to "beat" the rapper and feed him to "an alligator" over the Jiggaman's role in a Trayvon Martin documentary, according to a report.

Zimmerman, who gunned down 17-year-old Trayvon in February 2012, said he has a score to settle with the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, over the way his family was treated by Carter's camera crew, according to entertainment website Blast.

According to NY Daily News, an unrepentant Zimmerman was whining about a production team that made unannounced visits to the homes of his parents and an uncle in Florida, and he said JAY-Z and executive producer Michael Gesparro indirectly "harassed" his family.

"I know how to handle people who f--k with me," Zimmerman said Saturday, crassly adding "I have since February 2012."

Zimmerman says he is holding JAY-Z and Gesparro responsible, and "anyone who f---s with my parents will be fed to an alligator."

The 34-year-old Zimmerman also complained over money he claims has been paid to his ex-wife for her participation in the documentary. He said producers have refused to pay his parents or family members for their cooperation.

JAY-Z is the man behind a six-part docuseries titled "Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story," based on the book "Suspicion Nation" by attorney Lisa Bloom. The project will chronicle the too-short life of Martin, his fatal shooting by on Feb. 26, 2012, and Zimmerman's acquittal the following year.

Family Fight Dirty Over Late Female Bank Manager’s Wealth... abandon her corpse

Posted: 18 Dec 2017 12:56 AM PST

It's more than a year since the death of Miss Mabel Okafor Mang, a successful Zenith bank official who was reportedly murdered by her security guard on August 17, 2016.

Barely two weeks at his job, 22-year-old Tanko Abdullateef, was reported to have stabbed his 50-year-old boss, Mabel, in her apartment at No J68B, Close 9, Victoria Garden City in the Lekki-Ajah area, after which he ran to his village, Bali community in Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State. Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State police command, later arrested him.

Although there was a confession, The Sun investigation revealed that some of the deceased's siblings have accused each other of the death of their sister. It was gathered that they are at each other's throat over the wealth that she acquired while alive when they could not agree on how to share her wealth...

Some of the assets include a fat bank account, a house at Chevron drive, Lekki, two Bureau de Change offices in Lagos and several other property.

Despite the outcome of the investigation conducted by detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, the senior sister to the deceased identified as Miss Oyediya Okafor Mang wrote a petition alleging that her elder brother, Dr Nduka Okafor Mang had a hand in the death of their sister.

Before the crisis
According to earlier media reports, the body of the late bank official was discovered after she was not seen at a meeting she was to have with some top government functionaries. Calls put through to her phone lines were also not connecting.

This was said to have made some people to go to her house to find out what was happening. On getting there, they noticed that water was dropping from the air conditioning panel outside. The people were said to have peeped through an opening they noticed, only to see her body lying on the floor of her living room.

But the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, who started working on Abdullateef after he committed the crime, tracked him to his village where they spent about three days before his arrest on Saturday, August 27.

In some of his words after his arrest, Tanko told the police: "I can say that as this thing [killing) happened, it was the devil that got into me, because I never believed that I could kill a human being. On the day it happened, my boss returned home at almost 8.30p.m. She went to her room and later called me.

"She had earlier broken some branches of overgrown flowers within the premises. She asked me whether I did not allow DISCO officials to enter her compound when they had no means of identification and I replied her that I did not. She then asked me to go and trim the flower branches.

"At the time she called me, I had a knife in my hand to cut onions and pepper to prepare my dinner, and as she opened her door and gave the instruction, I just felt a spirit passed through my body. The next thing was that I stabbed her and I found her on the floor.

"I stabbed her two times but I don't really know I did it. As she fell, she looked at me and called my name repeatedly: 'Abdul, Abdul." I said 'sorry Ma.' I lifted her legs and straightened them on the floor by the three-sitter in the sitting room. I noticed blood stained her dress and the knife I used.

"I pitied her as she called my name so I went to put on the air conditioner so that it would blow directly at her body. I left for her room, which I ransacked to pick some trinkets and clothes. I went back to the living room to pick her phones and N10,000 from her purse which was there.

"One of the security men close by heard her when she screamed in pain after I stabbed her, so he came to knock on the gate to enquire what was wrong. But I dismissed him by telling him not to mind my boss, as she was only scared by the sight of a cockroach."

His shocking confession while at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) ended the investigation while those who were initially arrested were released on bail. Tanko was charged to court and remanded in prison while his trial progresses.

Dr Nduka, the new suspect
Bearing the heat of the crisis is Dr Nduka Okafor Mang, who claimed that the outcome of the petition by his sister led to his arrest and incarceration. Although police insist that he was arrested because he failed to produce the corpse of his late sister for further investigation.

In a chat with The Sun, Dr Nduka who alleged that the police was used by his sister to tarnish his image and accuse him of murder, decided to tell his side of the story.

According to him, on August 19, 2016, the pastor of his late sister called to inform him of her death. "I immediately rushed down to her house at Victoria Garden City (VGC). On getting there, I met on ground the VGC police post team and the VGC estate security team, church members and neighbors outside the house.

"The pastor introduced me to the police and asked for my approval to break open the padlock key in the rear entrance of the house. My sister was found lying on the floor of her sitting room facing up with four stab wounds on her abdomen. After conducting their investigation, the VGC police team handed over to me the keys to my sister's residence and offices and a security guard was posted to guard the premises.

"The VGC police assigned a police officer with the police extract to accompany me to the mortuary. We proceeded to the mortuary and deposited my sister's corpse and I paid the mortuary fees and was issued receipts.

"On August 26, 2016, a forensic pathologist from Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja performed the autopsy and her body was embalmed. I was then issued her death certificate. The matter was later transferred to the State CID Panti, Yaba for safekeeping and I was the complainant in the matter.

"Luckily men of RRS traced the fleeing security guard, Abdulateeef Tanko to Bali, Taraba State and brought him back to Lagos. In his possession was my sister's three phones, a large quantity of assorted dresses, jewelries and other personal effects."

Back in Lagos, Tanko was taken to his sister's residence in Lekki where he demonstrated how he killed her. "He also told the policemen where he hid the murder weapon and it was discovered still covered with blood stains. He told the police that he does not have an accomplice.

"After the conclusion of their investigation, Tanko was charged to court and was remanded in prison."

Preparation for the burial of his sister was on-going when his sister Miss Oyediya Okafor Mang returned to Nigeria after more than 25 years abroad. "She returned in November 2016, this was after the death of our sister, autopsy and embalmment. Long before then, police had arrested Tanko and charged him to court after his confession.

Initially, she was very happy that our sister had gotten justice and indicated her interest to take over our late sister's businesses and if possible reside in her house. When she realized that we were not comfortable with that decision, she decided to write a petition to CP Jonas Jackson Marvel alleging that I was the one who killed our sister."

He further alleged that soon after the petition was written, a lot of efforts were made to transfer the suspect to Abuja, seize the corpse of their sister but failed.

He and other members of the family with the help of traditional ruler of their community got an approval from the police to bury her sister. They couldn't because the police in Abuja who claimed to have taken over the case thwarted the ceremony.

His journey into police cell began on July 26, 2017 when heavily armed policemen attached to Federal SARS Adeniji Adele invaded his house seeking to arrest him.

"They alleged that they acted on the instruction of DIG Dagala of Force headquarters, Abuja based on alleged petition against me by Miss Linda Oyediya Okafor Mang. Those policemen led by one Festus Olaniyi proceeded to break down the gate to my house and accessed the premises.

"As soon as they entered, they manhandled my wife and two daughters twisting their arms and pushing them vigorously to the floor. My house was thoroughly searched and in the course of raiding my house called my family members murderers.

"Fortunately I was not at home when they arrived but decided to honour their invitation on August 9. I reported at their office and was detained by DC Kojoe for 17 days in a cell full of suspected notorious criminals. DC Kojoe was kind enough to inform me that I was arrested based on the telephone request by DIG Dagala. On August 10, I was forced into a vehicle by heavily armed policemen led by Festus Olaniyi to the morgue on the allegation by my sister that I and my senior brother had already buried our sister's corpse. At the morgue, Mr Festus Olaniyi and his men took series of photographs of my sister's corpse.

"On August 11, I was also forced by the same officers to my residence where a search was conducted by the same Festus Olaniyi and his men. At the end of the search , the items returned to me by State CID, Panti after the investigation was seized and these include keys to my sister's residence and offices , Laptop, company files and other documents. The next day I was also taken to my late sister's residence at VGC, Lekki but the estate security refused us access.

"According to them, my sister, Oyediya had locked and chained the gate on her last visit with DSP Sanni Fatai. Finally on August 23, a team of officers from Force Headquarters, Zone 10 led by one DSP Sanni Fatai of Cyber Crime Unit and my sister Oyediya bundled me again at gunpoint to the mortuary and ordered me to remove my name as the depositor of the corpse of my sister to the name of DSP Sanni Fatai which I did so that they will not kill me. They also forcefully retrieved from me all copies of receipt with which I deposited the corpse at the morgue."

He was later moved to FCID cell in Abuja for further interrogation. " On August, 25 was again bundled into a vehicle by Sanni Fatai like a common criminal to Abuja by road not minding my age and health status. On getting to Abuja, I was detained inside Zone 10 police command cell. Days later, I was summoned to the office of DIG Dagala and as expected my sister was also there. She kept boasting in front of DIG Dagala that she spent N9million at the Force headquarters, Abuja. I was later released days later under stringent conditions.

"On October 16, on the invitation of DSP Sanni Fatai, I went to the Lagos police command, Ikeja to meet him but he arrested me again and detained me for days at the State CID, Panti. On October 20, I was rushed to magistrate court, Ebute Meta and was remanded in Ikoyi prison pending the advice of Lagos State DPP. I was detained in prison for eight days till October 27 when DPP's advice was issued stating that I have no case to answer. They ordered that I should be released."

How DPP's advice saved him
Saturday Sun was able to get a copy of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) advice dated October 27, 2017," which requested that Dr Nduka should be released as he had no case to answer based on the evidence presented to the court.

"I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your letter with reference number CB: 3515/X/FHQ/ABJ/PDEFU/VOL.1/138 dated October 11, 2017, and the accompanying duplicate case file forwarded to the office for legal advice.

"We have carefully studied the duplicate case file and it is our considered opinion based on facts contained therein that there are insufficient facts to establish a prima facie case of conspiracy to commit murder and murder contrary to section 233 of the criminal law, Cap. C17, Vol.3 of Lagos state, 2015 against Page B1(James Aikhiobare) and Page B3(Dr Nduka Mang).

"The case was investigated by police at SCID Panti, Yaba, Lagos, wherein one Abdul-Lateef admitted he stabbed the deceased to death on August 17, 2016, stole some of her valuables and escaped from the scene in early hours of August 18, 2016. Page B2 (James Aikhiobare) and Page B3(Nduak Okafor Oyediya) were arrested by police from Fed SARS based on suspicion raised by Oyediya the petitioner, a sister to the deceased person. The petitioner alleged that the investigation into the murder of her sister by the Panti was compromised and was dissatisfied with the investigation hence the re opening of the case and re-investigation", the DPP advice reads in part.

Police react
On the role of the police in the crisis, Saturday Sun gathered from at the SCID, Panti, Lagos that investigation was concluded and the corpse had been released to the family when Oyediya Okafor Mang arrived the country alleging that her elder brother was behind the death of their sister. "They decided to fight themselves over the property of their late sister. The suspect was arrested and he confessed to the crime. It is a clear case, which the deceased's elder sister, Miss Oyediya applauded initially when she returned till they could not agree on who to inherit her wealth. She was 50 years and single. She had a lot of money in bank and businesses. She also had a house in the highbrow area of Lagos.

"The police in Abuja have investigated and still no new evidence was found." Confirming Nduka's arrest , Public Relations Officer, Federal Criminal Investigation Department(FCID), CSP Chike Nwabunwa told The Sun that detectives re-assigned to the case arrested Nduka because he attempted to obstruct investigation. "We acted based on a petition by his younger sister, one Miss Oyediya Okafor Mang. She was not satisfied with the outcome of the investigation conducted by Lagos SCID. She sought for a transfer and the matter was transferred to Force CID, Abuja.

"When detectives requested for the body of the deceased, Dr Nduka refused to grant them access. These were obvious signs to justify his sister's claim. After much effort by the police, they were able to find where he hid the corpse, conducted another autopsy and arraigned him in court. He was remanded in prison by the court till DPP's advice was presented to the court requesting that he should be released. No one has arrested him since then."

When asked why they are yet to bury the late Mabel, CSP Nwabunwa said no member of the family to his knowledge has come forward demanding for the body of their deceased sister.

SO SAD! Burial Poster of Daughter & Mother Who Died While Travelling To Prepare For Her Wedding

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 11:36 PM PST

A woman, late Deaconess Juliana Adaeze Wagoha and her daughter identified as Dr Elizabeth Ihuoma Wagoha, died tragically leaving their family and friends in lament. The 49-year-old woman was said to be travelling with her 25-year-old daughter from their base at Port-Harcourt, Rivers state to Onitsha in order to get some things for her (daughter's) wedding meant to take place two weeks ago - before tragedy struck.

Both mother and daughter died in a fatal accident.

Their burial arrangements have been concluded as they are to be laid to rest on Friday, December 22. May their souls rest in peace.

Read what Chinyeaka Jane‎ shared below;

May this, never be our portion, in our season of celebration...........

She was just 49 , a Registrar in a University. Her first child/daughter was already a Medical doctor at 25 And about to get married. Invitations have gone out and they were just waiting for the great day which never came!
The marriage was to take place 2 weeks ago. Mum and daughter left their base, PH to Onitsha to get souvenirs/ stuffs for the wedding and that was it! Death struck!
My heart goes out to their families.

How would one begin to console them? What would you say to the man who.lost a wife and a daughter? Or the children or the young girl's husband? OMG!!!

Life and Death!

Just before you brag and boast and threaten others, remember that this life is so transient, so fleeting and ephemeral.
Before you complain of all the things you couldnt get, remember that BEING ALIVE IS A PRIVILEGE.

I am just imagining the feeling in their households now. The man of the house and the bridegroom of the dead lady will still not have recovered from this shock, if they will ever. Sad!!

Rest in peace mother and child. At least, you won't have any more worries again!

My condolences to the family. May God give you and your entire family the fortitude to bear this IRREPARABLE LOSS.

Something interesting is happening and I'm excited. The last two weeks have been wonderful. I got a lot of calls from people and for those who were ready, intervention started through prayers and some have already started seeing the difference between when they were struggling "blindly" and now that they are "cleansed" and are succeeding with clear knowledge and Divine Favour.

Most big Millionaires and Billionaires you know or are hearing about have Pastors praying for them and their endeavours. Big Entertainers, Politicians, MDs and CEOs have Pastors who pray for them.

Don't live by chance, hoping things will just change One Day. Many like that live and die struggling.

Some motivational speakers will tell you not to go to Pastor, but they are just interested in you coming to their seminar to pay for training, as that is their source of survival. Be guided!

Seek Prayers. Get cleansed Physically and Spiritually. You will see the DIFFERENCE in your life.

Police arrest, detain Lagos lawyer for client’s offence | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 11:07 PM PST

A lawyer, Olufemi Ajiboso, has protested against his arrest and detention by the police in Lagos for an offence that was allegedly committed by his client.

Ajiboso, who said he was preparing to file charges against the police, said he was put in a cell with hardened criminals for two days and forced to sign an undertaking.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the lawyer had been introduced to a businesswoman, Mrs. Loveth Olayinka, who asked him to file a fundamental human rights suit regarding a matter.

Olayinka, after the job was done, was said to have promised to recommend Ajiboso to a business partner in the United States.

The supposed business partner, one Captain Edward Williams, was said to have called the lawyer and asked that he assist in writing a letter to a company he owed $112,000, explaining the difficulty he had in repaying them.

The lawyer told our correspondent he wrote the letter to the firm after he discovered that the said Captain Williams had been transacting business with the firm for a long time.

"We spoke on the telephone. He said he had made an arrangement to pay the firm on October 29, 2017. Based on the facts he gave me, I wrote a letter to the firm. A few days later, a policeman, ASP Sule Moses, sent me a message on my mobile phone. He said he was calling from Abuja, and he was from the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Team. He said there was a complaint against me in a case of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.

"After reading the message, I called the policeman and asked him the nature of my involvement. He said I wrote a letter to the company. I asked him how I could have been involved as a lawyer. After some discussions, he agreed that I had nothing to do with it. He said if my attention was needed, he would contact me.
"Surprisingly, on November 20, I saw three policemen in my office with one Alhaji Abdulmalik. They said I undertook to pay the money the man owed the company and the Inspector-General of Police had asked them to arrest me. I asked them to read the letter I wrote to the company and see if there was anywhere I undertook to repay any money. After a brief argument in my office, I was moved to the state police command, Ikeja." Ajiboso said.

He explained that at the police command headquarters, he was asked to write a statement, which he did, adding that he was asked to name the person who introduced him to Mrs. Olayinka, the woman who referred him to the captain.
He noted that after giving the police his friend's name, he was surprised that he was put in a cell.

He said, "I protested, but I could do nothing. I slept in the cell till the following day when I was brought out. They arrested the man who introduced me to the woman. The man, Prince Joseph, further named another woman, who introduced him to the woman, one Ebenezer. In all, three more people were arrested and thrown into the cell with me.

"I was arrested around 6pm on November 20, and kept in detention till November 22. Late that night (November 22), they said the IG had asked them to bring us to Abuja. I told them I was ready to follow them anywhere because I wanted to know my offence.
"But when I got some death threats, I became afraid. Some of my colleagues, who had also come to the station, advised that we should be careful. Before our release, they asked us to sign an undertaking to produce the woman who introduced me to the captain.

"I am amazed I had to be arrested for writing a brief for my client. If someone abroad was wanted by the police, can't they use INTERPOL to arrest him, instead of such an illegal action?"

A copy of the undertaking sighted by our correspondent showed that the said Mrs. Olayinka and Captain Williams were business partners, who owed the firm N32,170,000.

Ajiboso and the others promised to assist the police in apprehending the two suspects.

The Force spokesperson, Moshood Jimoh, did not pick his calls and had yet to respond to a text message on the incident as of press time.

David Mark Denies Receiving, Sharing N2bn Campaign Fund

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 10:21 PM PST

Former President of the Senate, David Mark, has denied receiving over N2bn from the Peoples Democratic Party through a National Assembly account for distribution to senators.

Mark, in a statement on Sunday by his Media Assistant, Paul Mumeh, said as a law-abiding citizen, he had answered an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to deny the allegation.

He noted that it was "the first and only official statement from the office of Mark on this issue."

The statement read, "Our attention has been drawn to media reports wherein it was reported that former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, was quizzed by EFCC over some alleged financial transactions.

"To set the records straight, Senator Mark was invited by the EFCC via a letter addressed to the National Assembly to answer questions on the 2015 presidential election campaign funds as it concerned Benue State.

"As a law-abiding citizen, Senator Mark honoured the invitation.

"Curiously, they also alleged that the PDP paid over N2bn into the National Assembly's account which he, as then President of the Senate, allegedly shared among the 109 senators, including PDP, Action Congress of Nigeria and All Nigerians Peoples Party (members) in 2010.

"Again, to the best of his knowledge, Senator Mark is not aware of such transaction. This simply did not make sense to any right thinking member of the society.

"Senator Mark wondered why anybody would think that PDP will pay money into National Assembly account. He, however, clarified all the issues raised before returning home.

"Senator Mark believes in due process and the rule of law. He has maintained a clean record of public service over the years and will continue to uphold the highest standard of conduct expected of public servants."

The statement added that politicians across party lines, friends and well-wishers have been on "pilgrimage" to Mark's house ever since, to identify with him "at this moment."

He, however, appealed to his supporters, friends and associates to remain calm and see his current travails as a price he has to pay for leadership," the statement concluded.

Try to let your posture and balance rely more on your calves. You will see that this will help free up the rest of your upper body to relax and take on a more upright posture that relieves pressure from your back, shoulders and neck and works on your ab muscles.

Teach Your Body What Good Posture Feels Like This basically involves training your body to adapt to good posture. From time to time, stand with your back against a wall, with the back of your head, your shoulders and butt just touching the wall. This will help you develop your posture as well as train your body to adapt to good posture. While sitting, ensure you sit up straight. Align your back with the back of the office chair to help you avoid slouching and leaning forward, keep your shoulders straight and both feet on the ground or on a foot rest. The more you do this, the easier it will be for your body to adjust to it and thus develop good posture.

Do Some Stretches
Doing these stretches in the morning, after you get up from bed, is a great way to relieve your body of the muscle lethargy of sleep. Also, doing these stretches periodically throughout the day helps to raise your energy level and have your body feeling great and relaxed. Some of these stretches include: gently tilting or stretching your head in all four directions over your shoulders (forward, back, right and left), and gently massaging your neck etc.

How Successes In Agric Is Diversifying Nigeria's Economy, by VP Osinbajo

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 09:51 PM PST

**Agriculture and aquaculture in particular, is easily one of the most critical of the multiple engines that will help diversify our economies, and create jobs and prosperity, especially for our young people.

**We have focused on agriculture as being the pathway for sustainable growth for our people, and providing much needed jobs for the hundreds of thousands of young people graduating from various levels of our educational institutions.

ADDRESS BY VICE PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO AT THE 10THMINISTERIAL CONFERENCE/ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE FISHERIES COMMITTEE FOR THE WEST CENTRAL GULF OF GUINEA (FCWC) AT TRANSCORP HILTON HOTEL, ABUJA, ON DECEMBER 15, 2017.

Protocol
It is my pleasure and privilege to express the warm felicitations of the Government and people of Nigeria to you all on this occasion of the Tenth Conference of Ministers and the Tenth Anniversary of the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC). Please accept also, our congratulations on the occasion of your tenth anniversary.

Let me also extend the gratitude of the Government and people of Nigeria, to the FCWC for giving us the opportunity to host this anniversary, I'm told this is the second time Nigeria is hosting this yearly meeting and I hope we will be given the chance to host it frequently.

It is important to remind ourselves of the objectives of this regional body, which includes the strengthening of sub-regional cooperation in fisheries management, monitoring, surveillance and enforcement operations; and the development of the capacity of small-scale fishing operators in member countries, to create sustainable livelihoods.

On the matter of small-scale fishing operators, a point that we cannot overlook, is that most of our national economies thrive largely on the combined energy of multitudes of individual entrepreneurs and small businesses – farmers, fishermen, artisans, traders. Our policies and programmes as governments must therefore, be directed towards supporting the aspirations and ambitions of these small-scale-but-big-energy entrepreneurs.

All six member-countries also need to deepen strategic cooperation, to harness the enormous fisheries potentials in the Gulf of Guinea for the benefit of our people. I implore the secretariat of the FCWC to prioritize the speedy sharing of information between member states, in order to more effectively checkmate the activities of foreign vessels fishing illegally within our territorial waters.

Your Excellencies, it is in the common and vital interest of our nations that we continue to give the FCWC our full support for the sustainable management of our fisheries resources.

On the part of Nigeria, we will continue to play our role in the support of FCWC. In line with this, I am happy to inform you that we have paid almost about $200,000 of our debt to the FCWC this year. I say the figure just to encourage everyone else, to toe the line of repaying debts as quickly as possible.

The safety of Nigeria's maritime waters is also of principal concern to us. To this end, President Buhari has approved the purchase of some patrol vessels for the Department of Fisheries, which will be managed in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.

These vessels will boost the search and rescue capacities of the relevant security agencies, deter illegal fishing, prevent illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing, and help secure our vessels at sea.

In the Northeast of Nigeria, terrorist activities of Boko Haram have devastated a fishing industry that has historically supplied much of West Africa. President Buhari earlier this year, approved the establishment of a Lake Chad Naval Base, to boost security, and fast-track the restoration of deprived livelihoods in that zone.

The theme of this conference which is: "Investing for Growth and Sustainability for Fisheries in West Africa" is an important one, both in terms of sharing experiences and laying out our aspirations for the economic well-being of our people.

Perhaps I might ask that you indulge me for a minute to share some of our success in agriculture and investments generally. Agriculture and aquaculture in particular, is easily one of the most critical of the multiple engines that will help diversify our economies, and create jobs and prosperity, especially for our young people.

We have focused on agriculture as being the pathway for sustainable growth for our people, and providing much needed jobs for the hundreds of thousands of young people graduating from various levels of our educational institutions. We think that fisheries and the whole aquaculture economy, will supply what we need in terms of opportunities for several of these young people and there are several initiatives we are proffering which the Ministry of Agriculture has been leading in the past few months.

I'm pleased to note that our efforts to reduce fish imports and increase local fish production, by encouraging the private sector to invest in aquaculture, is yielding positive results. Our domestic fish production in the last two years has increased from 450,000 metric tons to 1.1million metric tons.

This is no doubt regarding the result of the work we're doing to encourage and enable investment in Nigeria. Our conviction is thatNigeria's economic revolution must be led by private capital, and that government's primary role is to create the enabling environment for commerce to thrive unhindered and this has greatly assisted our work in this respect.

We have worked quite hard, to ensure that we create the environment for investments; small, medium-sized and large investments.

We have worked at this especially in the last one year, by implementing a series of reforms that have earned us a place on the World Bank's list of top ten most improved economies in 2017, from a business climate improvement perspective.

These reforms range from simplifying registration processes for new businesses, to making it easier for investors and entrepreneurs to access credit, to implementing a visa on arrival scheme that takes just about 48 hours to process. We are also effecting reforms aimed at easing bottlenecks in our seaports, for the benefit of importers and exporters.

Many of these reforms are in nascent stages, we are working daily to improve and fine-tune them. We have realized that we need to have an enabling environment, not just for foreign investments, but in particular for local investments to thrive. It is when local investments thrive that foreign investors may then feel enabled and inspired to come in to invest. Our focus is ensuring local investments thrive through several of the initiatives we have introduced.

I would like to reiterate the philosophy behind these reforms; Nigeria is open for business and investment. We would like to see investors take us up on this pledge. You're very likely aware that there is a great deal of opportunity in Nigeria's aquaculture industry – the size of our domestic market and our status as a gateway to West Africa together constitute a compelling business case.

On this note, let me once again express the sincere gratitude of the Nigerian government and people of Nigeria to the FCWC for giving Nigeria the opportunity to host you all. I hope that all the visiting Ministers and delegates have in the last few days, found the time between the busy sessions to experience and enjoy the beautiful scenery and warm hospitality of Abuja. If you have not, there is still a bit of time to catch up on that.

I trust that you have had successful and result-oriented deliberations so far, and that this Ministerial Conference will be ending on a fulfilling and productive note.

Thank you very much and God bless you all.

Man Facing Life In Prison For Killing Girlfriend’s Convicted Molester Says He's Not Sorry | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 17 Dec 2017 08:17 PM PST

On Thursday, a Louisiana man was found guilty on charges of second-degree murder after he admitted to killing the man who molested his girlfriend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to reports, the incident occurred in July 2015.
Brittany Monk, the girlfriend, testified in court that she and her boyfriend, Jace Crehan, broke into the convicted molester's trailer and tried to scare him. However, things took a turn for the worse after she sprayed cologne in Robert Noce Jr.'s face. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As she stood before the court, Monk said she told Noce, who was convicted of sexually assaulting Monk for nine years, that he ruined her life.

She said her boyfriend then instructed her to get a knife, to which she complied, retrieving the "biggest" knife she could find. Crehan then used the knife to stab Noce repeatedly, just before wrapping a belt around Noce's neck, using his foot to pull it tighter.

After the struggle, the two threw Noce's body in a 55-gallon container and threw the knife in a lake. Days later, Daily News reports, Crehan admitted to the murder, as he believed the justice system "failed" his girlfriend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The incident occurred just days after Noce pleaded no contest to sexually molesting Monk while he was dating her mother. However, Crehan said he was "not sorry" for his actions, in fact, he revealed that he felt "a lot better." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although Crehan's attorney attempted to argue that his actions were in passion, prosecutors said they were "vigilante" justice, adding that, "We do not live in a country where we as a society are allowed to take the law into our own hands and do justice." As a result, a jury found Crehan guilty of second-degree murder, he is now facing life in prison. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Monk, on the other hand, pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this year and is facing 40 years in prison.
