| Reps Members Reject Official Cars, Demand For Money Posted: 06 Nov 2017 03:30 AM PST  According to Daily Sun, the Green Chamber is spending about N6.1b on the procurement of 360 units Peugeot 508 for members, at a unit price of N17 million. The cars have been coming in trickles, since December 2015, when plan to procure them was agreed. As at August 2017, about 200 units had been procured and distributed to members. But, a source told Daily Sun yesterday, that some members who were yet to get their vehicles are now mounting pressure on the House leadership to give them the monetary value of the cars. The demand for monetisation of the cars, it was gathered, is against the backdrop of the cash crunch affecting the federal legislature. Besides, the source said "some of the legislators believe there is no need for the cars as they have spent more than half of their tenure." A member, who declined to be named, confirmed the development, and noted that "majority of those yet to get their official cars prefer to be given cash, in lieu of the cars." | Billionaire Saudi Prince Killed In Helicopter Crash After Crown Prince Ordered His Arrest Posted: 06 Nov 2017 02:45 AM PST  Prince Mansour Bin Muqrin was killed in the crash "while performing an inspection in remote parts of the governorate." A spokeswoman for the Saudi embassy in Washington told NBC News. The Saudi-owned, Dubai-based satellite news channel Al-Arabiya reported seven other people also died in the crash. Prince Mansour was the son of Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz, a former intelligence director and a one-time crown prince of the kingdom. Hours after the fatal crash, a Saudi-led coalition of Arab nations closed Yemen's land, sea and air ports. Saudi officials said they had intercepted a missile near Riyadh's airport on Saturday that was fired from war-torn Yemen, the Arab world's poorest country. The coalition blamed the launch on Iran and warned it could be "considered as an act of war." The day before the helicopter crash, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman ordered the arrest of 11 of his royal cousins, as well as nearly 40 powerful military officers, businessmen, government ministers – some of them potential rivals. No connection has been drawn between the events. On Saturday, Prince Mohammed, 32, arrested billionaire Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, one of the world's richest men, with major holdings in Western firms, as well as two of late King Abdullah's sons. The crown prince said the mass roundup is part of a larger crackdown on corruption targeting senior royals and their business associates, who have long been seen as operating above the law. | How This Female Student was Killed During Shiite Procession In Kano Posted: 06 Nov 2017 02:45 AM PST  The group members, whose activities have been banned in Kano, had a clash with the police during their annual Arbaeen trek in some parts of the state, leading to her death. According to report, the Shiite members were intercepted by the police at the popular Lado overhead bridge along Zaria road in Kano metropolis. The policemen allegedly stopped them by firing teargas and live bullets. Many sustained injuries in the incident. The lady who died is said to be the best Engineering student in her department.  Ibrahim Zakzaky, leader of the group, has been in detention since December 2015 when his followers clashed with some soldiers. Adeboye Enumerating secrets of breaking forth, used the opportunity to react to controversial online personality, Daddy Freeze who said no Nigerian Prophet, Pastor or General Overseer is qualified to receive tithes from their members. According to Freeze, tithe was meant to be eaten with our families in the house of God, it is biblical to use your tithe and buy beer and drink in the house of God. Adeboye however debunked Freeze's opinion saying 'even mad people will not come to church to drink alcohol'. He said "Avoid divine curse like a plaque, somebody show me something on the internet on the question of paying tithe or not and the fellow said tithe is suppose to be used to buy alcohol and drink in the church. "Now you know who is talking, even mad people will not come to church to drink alcohol, no matter how crazy that fellow is, asked him to come to church and drink beer, he will tell you that he is not that crazy, because even in his madness, he knows that it is the house of God and he will refuse to do such thing. | Forced marriage: 13-year-old girl regains freedom from Emir's palace | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 06 Nov 2017 01:53 AM PST  Hauwa, an SS1 student of the Brighter Academy Secondary School, Gashua, is a daughter of a former Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria. She was abducted and allegedly kept at the palace of the Emir of Gashua for 'Islamic evangelism.' Hauwa was, however, released on Sunday from the palace of the Emir, Alhaji Abubakar Suleman. A civil rights organisation, Stefanos Foundation, which blew the lid off the alleged plot to force the teenager into marriage, had vowed that it would pursue the case till the girl was released. The Executive Director of SF, Mark Lipdo, had then appealed to the relevant authorities "to step in and help this poor woman who has been nursing her sick husband for the past six years." Hauwa's elder brother, Jonathan Dadi, broke the news of her release to Northern City News in Jos on Sunday. He said, "Thank you, Mr. Journalist, thank you, The PUNCH. I am pleased to inform you that my sister has been released to us. When contacted, the Gashua Police Area Commander, Joseph Aloefuna, confirmed that the case was brought to his knowledge by the Gashua Divisional Police Officer He said, "I wasn't directly involved but the DPO said he was involved and he confirmed that he was invited into the matter. Before her release, the mother of the girl, Deborah, had, in an interview, given a detailed account of how the abduction plot was perfected. She said, "On Thursday afternoon, I had a meeting in ECWA Church, Gashua. Her twin brother, Zachariah, took wheelbarrow to fetch water for us. My daughter removed her uniform, put on her personal clothes and left. When one of her sisters asked her where she was going, Hauwa said she was going to fetch water with Zachariah and disappeared. The mother said when she went to look for her daughter in the area, she heard that she had been abducted by her neighbours and was taken to the Imam of Gashua, Babu Alkali Mamman. She then reported the matter to one Inspector Melody Habila at the Gashua Police Command. But when Imam Alkali was invited to the police command, he pleaded to be allowed to take the Jumma'at prayers before coming but he never came. Instead, the Imam's lawyer later came to the police station and invited Deborah to the Emir's palace. | Nigerian Coach, Paul Banigo, Slumps & Dies During Training Posted: 06 Nov 2017 01:40 AM PST  A popular sports coach and fitness trainer in Cross River State, Paul Banigo has slumped and died at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar. The sad incident happened on Saturday November 4th. Read the account by Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke, the CRS Sports Commission below: "He jogged into the UJ Esuene Stadium in the morning to keep a rendezvous with the members of the public and sundry state Athletes, who had adopted him as their personal coach and Aerobics Instructor. However, today's rendezvous turned out to be with death. As coach Paul Banigo was putting together his exercise tools, he slumped and cried for help, but none was rendered. All those present, initially ran to different compass directions, for sundry reasons. Paul Banigo died. The Stadium Clinic is not functional and I am working with the Hon Commissioner for Health to remedy this anomaly. Today's tragedy caught us by surprise and came to us at a time that we are financially unstable. Since no hospital would accept Coach Banigo's Corpse without the requisite financial commitment, we were left in a quandary. But initial help came our way through ex Gov Donald Duke and his wife Onari... (God bless Their Benevolent Souls). Mrs Duke reached out to the Navy Hospital, Calabar and they agreed to receive the body for "autopsy and embalmment". We have visited the hospital for the third time this night, the Corpse is in good hands and His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade has been briefed accordingly and the needful will be done. As a staff of the CRS, Paul had taken up the extra responsibility of taking up those who had recently been dislocated from using the House of Assembly hill for exercise purposes, due to recent security concerns. On the fateful Saturday morning, Paul died on duty, on official duty. But when he fell, initial help could not be rendered. Not even a CPR? So sad. The 8 years relegation of the Sports Commission created the rot... No Ambulances, offices, buses,facilities etc. The process of rebuilding the infrastructure and repositioning sports is on and it is "work in progress". The CRS Governor will fund and staff the UJ Esuene Stadium Clinic, we are committed to work with the Commissioner for Health, SA Budget and the CRSHA to achieve this with the 2018 Budget. "During the police operation, 10,128 other DRC nationals voluntarily left the diamond exploration areas," Angop quoted Lunda Norte police boss Rodrigues Zeca saying. Illegal migrants were often attracted to Angola for diamond exploration and business opportunities. Angola has extensive diamond reserves, principally in the Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul provinces in the northeast. A fortnight ago, Angolan authorities expelled 432 illegal foreign nationals from Cabinda Province. The majority of the deportees were from the DR Congo, with a few others from the Republic of Congo.
