Kogi suicide: My husband rolled on the floor day triplets were born, says wife | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 01:36 AM PDT

Mrs. Grace Soje, the wife of the Kogi State civil servant, who committed suicide on October 16, 2017, says her husband's death remains a shock.

The widow told Sunday PUNCH that her husband, Edward Soje, showed no signs of depression the last time she saw him alive.

Mrs. Soje, who is a federal civil servant, was still in a private hospital in Abuja when our correspondent visited her on Saturday.

Although her husband took his life on October 16, it was learnt that she was only informed of his death on October 31.

Still struggling to come to terms with reality, the widow said,
"I learnt of my husband's death on Tuesday. I was not even informed because my phone was taken away from me after I gave birth. But on that particular day, I saw my phone lying around and it was switched off.
"So, I turned it on and saw my brother-in-law's text message in which he said he had gone to pick up his dead brother's corpse. It was at that point that I started screaming that they have killed my husband."

Grace told our correspondent that she saw her husband alive on October 14, during the naming ceremony (christening) of their triplets– Elijah, Elisha and Enoch.

She explained that she was the one who asked him to go home to rest and put things in order and then come back to the hospital.

Mrs. Soje stated, "
We did the naming ceremony at the hospital on October 14 and there was no quarrel whatsoever. We only asked him to go home and rest because the hospital was filled up and the nurses were driving people away.
"So, I told him to go home to rest and return in the evening so that we could plan how to move our car and some other things from Kogi. That was the last time I saw him.

"On Sunday, we waited for him to come but we never saw him and his phone was switched off. So, my cousin, who was staying with me, went to the house but didn't tell me anything but she told my elder sister what she saw in the house such as the cardboard where he left a message.
"He said God would preserve me and that I should take care of the boys. It was on Monday that my elder sister called me to ask if I saw what was in the house but nobody was explaining anything to me."

Mrs. Soje said her husband never showed any signs of depression, adding that on the day the triplets were born, he was rolling on the hospital floor thanking God for finally giving them children after over 17 years.

She added, "One of the nurses told me that when I was in the theatre and the babies were born, my husband was rolling on the floor, praising God. He bought banana for the nurses. Even my tenants in Lokoja said on Friday, my husband was very joyful and told them that he was going to stay in Abuja for a long time to take care of his children.
"We never quarrelled. In fact, my blood pressure was high and he was the one who calmed me down and asked me to rest and keep my phone aside.
"He never gave me any sign of anything; nothing! On Tuesday, his nephew, who lives with us and happens to be a civil defence official, called me, saying that my husband came to his house and was saying some things that he didn't understand.
"He said my husband was complaining that he didn't own any property and that all the properties belonged to me. So, I asked him, when my husband was saying all these things, why didn't he take him to relatives' house or lock him somewhere?"

When asked if it was true that Edward committed suicide because he had not been paid by the Kogi State Government for almost a year, Grace said she could not say.

She admitted that her husband had not been paid for several months but explained that they were both living off her salary.

The widow said, "I don't know if it is because of salary because I am not a Kogi State civil servant. After all, he has not been collecting salary since January but we have been managing my own salary. So, I don't know."

Making a concerned plea to the Federal Government, the National Assembly, the Kogi State Government and well-meaning Nigerians, Mrs. Soje explained that the hospital bill had run into millions of naira and she needed assistance.

She said one of the triplets, Enoch, had been transferred to the National Hospital for a surgery and his own bill was separate.

Grace said, "Nigerians should assist me so that I can take good care of the children. We have not been able to settle the hospital bill. We have been given a bill of N1, 627,000 by the hospital but one of the triplets had to be taken to the National Hospital for a surgery and I don't know how much his own bill is right now."

When asked if she suspected foul play in her husband's death, she said, "I leave everything to God."

How To Access The Supernatural Ability of God

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 12:31 AM PDT

"When our own thinking has the upper mind, we interpret everything with soulish logic. We look at our own resources and the scale of the problem in front of us, and we make a rational intelligent judgment of our chances of pulling it off. If the circumstances look too huge and awesome, we will not even attempt the matter. We will be like the ten spies who returned from spying in Canaan. We will give an 'evil report' of what the opposition is like and of our chances of victory.
However, when we are moving in faith regarding God's ability, we put a different complexion on things. Like Joshua and Caleb, we will give a report that is full of regard for the anointing of God, even at our own expense." – Graham Cooke
Dear intercessor,
My heart was enlightened when my perspective changed early one morning while I was sitting at the beach. Clouded by overwhelming thoughts, I sat looking intently at the ocean. My husband had gone on a bike ride, and I decided to have some time with the Lord at the beach, one of my favorite places. The ocean is quite incredible. So with headphones on, I put on some good music and began to worship God. As I praised Him, I began to think. I had been going through a particularly busy time and I was very tired. The workload looked enormous at that point. The circumstances looked huge, my resources looked small, the opposition looked great, and the chances of victory looked slim.

But as I sat on that sandy beach - staring intently at the ocean and quietly listening - I began to see things from a new perspective.

The ocean was so vast, so wide and immense. All I could see was miles and miles of ocean. In that instant, I began to see God with eyes of faith. I felt he was saying to me, "Is anything too hard for me?" As I looked at the sea and worshipped the Lord, I saw the incredible ability of God. He is great and in control. He can do absolutely anything. Suddenly everything seemed different because my perspective had changed, and I had begun to see the supernatural ability of God.

I thought back to the beginning of my dream for spreading encouragement for intercession to the nations. Intercessors Arise began one week after 9-11. It was birthed in my heart years ago, yet there came a time when I had to take action and do something about it. It was beyond what I could do with my personal resources both inwardly and outwardly, but a worldwide prayer movement had moved my heart.

I couldn't get away from it, so I stepped out by faith. That was many years ago. In every step of the way since then, there were obstacles, testings, and lots of endurance. And I continue to run into these radical faith challenges on a regular basis, but God has proved to be faithful over and over again. Every obstacle would appear to be insurmountable from a human standpoint, but God wanted to show me an important lesson.

It was His ability, not mine. He could do what only He alone could do. My part was to trust and obey.

Are you in a place where you are looking to your own abilities and present difficulties you are facing, or are you looking to the supernatural ability of God? Do you have a dream on your heart that only He can do?

This is a question we must all answer again and again. Will I trust God with all of these impossibilities? Will I continue to believe Him for the breakthrough? It's so easy to look at our inabilities and say:

"Lord, I don't have the gifting. I don't have the strength. I don't have the resources and people. I don't have the money. But I do have one thing - I have You, and You are more than enough."

In your present situation, God has supernatural ability to do the impossible through you. Continue in prayer and don't give up. Always remember that the Kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force. We must see the greatness and the supernatural ability of God.

A young boy was flying to see his grandparents for a visit. On the airplane, he happened to sit next to a seminary professor. During the flight while the boy was reading a Sunday school paper, the professor thought he would have some fun with him by testing his knowledge of God. The professor said, "Young man, if you can tell me something God can do, I'll give you a big, shiny apple." The boy thought for a moment and said:

"Mister, if you can tell me something God can't do, I'll give you a whole barrel of apples!"

That little boy had faith in the supernatural ability of God in a far deeper way than most of us. I'm sure he made that professor think about his answer during the rest of that flight. We need to have this kind of childlike faith in God. We need to have radical faith in a God who is able to do the impossible and who has limitless resources and ability.
"As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you... Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:5, 9).

Marriage Issues: How Couple's Heart Affect Their Behavior

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 12:21 AM PDT

"I'm tired of waiting for him to change," a woman said to me recently. "I'm tired of hearing apologies," she went on to add. "My husband apologizes and then does the same things, over and over again. I'm growing colder towards him."

I've heard this complaint thousands of times. Perhaps it fits your life as well. You want change, you complain, nag and grumble, only to receive arguments, pushback and promises.

Why do problems persist in some marriages with no apparent change?

Why do spouses argue and fight over the same issues, only to end in dismay and discouragement?

Arguments continue for several reasons. They persist because the real issues are not being addressed. Perhaps the person in the wrong hasn't fully owned up to the problem and, more importantly, hasn't fully determined to change. They promise to change and perhaps even intend to change, but inwardly they are not different. Change comes first from the heart and then moves out to behavior.

The question is whether there has been a 'heart change' that will lead to true behavior change

Consider that a heart changed by God will exhibit the following traits, according to the Apostle Paul: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5: 22-23). If a person's character does not reveal these traits, one must question whether a heart has truly changed.

Contrast these qualities with what is said about the heart of stone: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh" (Ezekiel 36: 26).

How does this apply to making changes in our marriage?

First, a heart of stone is cold and hard. A heart of stone – filled with self – pushes for its own way. This stony heart is filled with pride and resists humility. While we may offer a brief apology for wrongdoing, if it doesn't come from a soft, reformed heart, true behavior change will not follow. A stony heart can be dead and cold;

Second, hearts not softened become harder and harder. A stony heart may be warmed temporarily, but will soon enough become cold again. Apologies are short-lived and behavior change is superficial. If you want true change, look for a changed heart. You might wonder why you don't see true, lasting change – it is because resentment and anger reside in the cold, stony heart. This heart actually becomes harder and even more resentful, turning away from you;

Third, change cannot come from willpower alone. Rather, change comes from a heart given over to God. Determination alone is not enough to bring about true, deep change. For as much as one may want to be different, difference occurs from a changed heart;

Fourth, a heart of flesh, controlled by the Spirit, is warm and soft. A heart of stone is cold and hard while a heart of flesh is warm and soft. The heart of stone is dead while the heart of flesh is alive. The heart that is alive will want to please others. That heart will be sensitive and warm toward the needs of others. You will feel the difference;

Finally, a Spirit-controlled heart exhibits the fruits of the Spirit. A heart of flesh, controlled by the Spirit, is open to the work of the Spirit. Feeling that 'Godly sorrow that leads to repentance,' this heart leads to true, deep change. (II Corinthians 7: 10) Having repented, owning our wrongdoing, we are changed by the work of God in our heart.

Do you hear apologies again and again with no lasting behavior change? The problem may not be intentional, but rather a heart issue.

Amnesty Students In The US Disassociate Themselves From Planned Protest

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 11:51 PM PDT

Students sponsored by the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the umbrella of the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta/Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (OSAPND) led by Brig. Gen. P. T. Boroh (Rtd), has drawn the attention of the Nigerian public to the activity of faceless fraudsters in the United States of America who are using the platform of social media to spread misleading and mischievous information about our welfare as government sponsored students in different institutions of higher learning in the United States of America and the activities of OSAPND under Gen. PT. Boroh.

Jimmy Iwezu, student leader in Alabama State University in a statement made available to journalists yesterday said, "We wish to disassociate students from any attempt to tarnish the image of Nigeria in the US through outright lies, falsehood and blackmail being peddled in the social media by a faceless group that has called on people to join them on Saturday, 4th Novemeber, 2017 for a public demonstration against the government of President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House in Washington DC, USA."

The statement reads:

"We wish to put it on record that our allowances and tuition fees have been paid up to the month of September, 2017 and the Office has promised to pay up to November, 2017 when the next payment is made in October, 2017.

"We wish to express our appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment and dedication to sustainable peace and development in the Niger Delta through his support and continuation of the Presidential Amnesty programme. We also wish to commend the able leadership of Gen. PT. Boroh for the positive changes that he has brought to bear on the programme through prompt payment of our fees and allowances.

"While it has not been all rosy, we note that despite the economic recession that Nigeria went through, it was still able to sponsor our education abroad and we are very grateful.

"We want to use this opportunity to appeal to all detractors and sponsored saboteurs to cease from their evil activities of blackmail and distraction from the good job that OSAPND and Gen. PT Boroh have done since 2015. We also appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria for sustainability of the program which has achieved its mandate to ensure peace and stability in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria."

You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made... "how to stay fit"

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 11:51 PM PDT

If you've read much of the Bible, you've probably read the following verse:
"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it (Psalm 24:1)."
As a Christian, I believe what the Bible has to say. And according to this verse, I belong to God. And if I belong to Him, I am not my own. In fact, here are a couple verses that speak to that very point:

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, emphasis added).

And the fact that the context of these verses is referring to sexual immorality doesn't then mean that we are our own in other circumstances, that we were only bought at a price as it relates to our sexual purity. In fact, verses 12-13 talk about not being mastered by anything and even use "food for the stomach and stomach for food" as an example. And what sense would it make to honor God with our bodies only sexually but not in other ways? To be sexually pure but gluttonous would be inconsistent with scripture. The Psalms say it. 1st Corinthians says it. We are not our own.

You know what else the Psalms say?
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well (Psalm 139:13-14).

I am fearfully made. You are wonderfully made. Why then wouldn't we want to get and stay fit? Why wouldn't we want to take care of this incredible gift of a body that He has entrusted to us? We should want to. We should strive to. I'm not saying we can't enjoy food. I certainly do by practicing the nutrition tithe and cheating the right way. But as a lifestyle, we shouldn't be putting salt water in our gas tanks. What kind of steward would that make us?

And that's what it comes down to for Christians: we are stewards. We are stewards of our money, our time, our families, our talents… and yes, we are steward of our bodies.

It's only when we learn to own this fact, that we are not our own, can we then begin to change our view and avoid the pressure we put on ourselves to do it for ourselves. I'm not saying it's wrong to do it for ourselves. In fact, it can often being a catalyst motivation (it certainly was and is for me). But it somehow becomes easier when we are doing it for someone else! These bodies are not really ours. The owner was kind enough to entrust them to us and we want to take care, the best care, of these depreciating assets we can. Someday we will have to return our bodies to the One who made them. Until then it's my prayer that I can learn to live outside my own motives and seek to be the kind of steward he finds faithful.

Keep in mind, all of this really isn't worthwhile, or even possible without God's grace. And he extends that grace to our fitness lives as well. While we shouldn't use his grace as an excuse to not take care of ourselves, we also shouldn't feel condemnation (Romans 8:1) if we haven't taken the kind of care that we should. That's not what his grace is about. His grace is bigger than that. His grace covers us where we are at, irrespective of our "performance." Therefore, our fitness ambitions should NOT be a response to the guilt we may have for years of poor body stewardship, but rather a response to the perfect love that God has extended to us. A love so great that it can deliver us from our cycle of defeat and strengthen us to tend to our bodies in a way that honors the One who gave them to us.

So if you're a Christian and you're struggling with your desires to get fit, perhaps it would be good to examine your motivations, to pray for his strength to help you, to trust that he will, and to remind yourself of this simple fact: you have to return the minivan!

You've been challenged… now GO!

Billionaire Al-Waleed bin Talal, 10 princes arrested in Saudi crackdown | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 11:51 PM PDT

Saudi Arabia in a sweeping crackdown arrested 11 princes, including a prominent billionaire, Al-Waleed bin Talal and dozens of current and former ministers.

Separately, the head of the Saudi National Guard, once a leading contender to the throne, as well as the navy chief and the economy minister were replaced in a series of high-profile sackings that sent shock waves in the kingdom.

The crackdown was reported immediately after a new anti-corruption commission, headed by powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was established by royal decree late Saturday.

Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television reported that the princes, four current and dozens of former ministers were arrested as the commission launched a probe into old cases such as floods that devastated the Red Sea city of Jeddah in 2009.

State-run Saudi Press Agency said the commission's goal was to "preserve public money, punish corrupt people and those who exploit their positions".

There was no official confirmation yet that Saudi billionaire Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal was among those arrested, Saudi news websites said. AFP reported that the Prince was unreachable on phone.

Texas Restaurant In Trouble For Transphobic Photos Of Caitlyn Jenner On Bathroom Doors | Mr Olumide's Blog

Dodie's Place Cajun Bar & Grill is under fire for using pre and post-transition pictures of Caitlyn Jenner on it's bathroom doors. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The door of the women's bathroom featured a picture of Caitlyn's 2015 Vanity Fair cover where she debuted as a woman. The men's door had a picture of Jenner competing at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal as a man. ⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Social media erupted after Dallas Morning News editor Dom DiFurio posted the images on Twitter on Oct. 30. But according to Dodie's Facebook page, the images have been in use since at least August. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"First and foremost, our intention was not to make fun of or offend anyone when we installed the pictures of Bruce and Caitlyn on our bathroom doors," the restaurant said in a statement. "It was merely a lighthearted gesture to push back against the political correctness that seems to have a stranglehold on this country right now. We believe that political correctness has done more to silence rather than encourage important discussions that our society probably needs to have." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

5 Tips To Keep Your Money & Bank Account Secure

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 11:21 PM PDT

This holiday season is a great time to kick back and relax with friends and family as you splurge on one or two things you or your loved ones desire.

Unfortunately, as relaxing as this season can be, it can also be quite dangerous because of the thieves and fraudsters prowling around for easy prey.

Jumia Travel shares 5 simple tips to keep your bank account secure this ember season.

Be Careful at the ATM
Try to avoid withdrawing large amounts of cash at a go this holiday. Also try to limit your withdrawals at the ATM to day time periods in public settings (preferably ATMs at bank branches). One can really never be too cautious when it comes to protecting personal funds, so additionally avoid being a victim to thieves with card skimming technology and limit your withdrawals to ATMs at bank branches which are monitored by cameras. Also, if anything looks off about an ATM or its surroundings then please walk away immediately and find another ATM machine.

Don't Neglect Personal Safety
Remain alert when walking to and from your car at whatever car park, especially in the evenings. Don't let strangers help with your packages or help you to your car especially when you are at a general market. If you must get help, get help from the staff of the stores or shops you visit and no one else. Keep your phones, wallets and other valuables as secure as you can from pickpockets and the like. If you are using public transport, try to avoid bringing out your phone, wallet or other valuables unless absolutely necessary.

Favour Cash over Credit Cards
Try ensuring that during this season you take along with you as much cash as you think that you'll need (this, of course, doesn't mean that you should then carry large wads of cash all over the place). Leave your credit cards at home so that in case of the unexpected no one would have direct access to your bank account through your cards. Additionally, you can go a step further by deleting or hiding your mobile banking apps so that, again, in the case of the unexpected, none will have direct access to your bank account or be able to force you to give up access to your account through these mobile apps.

Monitor Your Accounts Closely
Be sure to pay close attention to your bank statements – check your bank account regularly. You must be able to explain every credit and debit alert that you get. If any of your banking details have been stolen and are being used, this is one of the fastest ways you'll know about it and be able to immediately take action against it.

Be Wary of Deals That Are Unbelievably Good
This ember season is that of many 'mega deals', 'black friday deals' etc. Be careful of these so called 'mega' deals and only shop from reputable shops (online and offline) and on secure websites (when entering credit card information online). Secure websites often have a padlock displayed at the top or bottom corner in your browser, and the beginning of the web address will be 'https' instead of 'http'. Generally, if you're suspicious or something seems shady about the deal, the store or venue the deal is taking place or the person facilitating the deal, then please walk away. It is better to walk away and opt for a reputable store, than take the risk and have your financial information stolen and your bank account compromised.

"Gospel Singers Have No Business In Clubs"

Gospel sensation, Palmira, has said gospel ministers have no business in clubs. Speaking in a chat with Tribune, at the fifth edition of the Inner Beauty Outward Riddance (IBOR), she said:

"A gospel minister is not expected to be seen in a club. What is a club for? Jesus Christ was able to penetrate places to win souls because he had a motive.

"We, as Christians, have different doctrines. It is going to be difficult to explain your motive to the Christian world. We live with wisdom. Whatever you do that would make your neighour fall out of the faith, you should stop it."

How I met my wife –Oristefemi | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:51 PM PDT

Singer, Oristefemi Majemite Ekele, otherwise known as Oristefemi, has opened up on how he met his PR exec wife, Nabila Fash and how he managed to win her heart despite being a street boy.

He told Punch
I met her at a show in Nigeria. I had just returned from a tour in 2016 when I was hired by MultiChoice to perform at an event.
When I was backstage with Daddy Showkey and other colleagues, she was the one attending to the needs of everyone. Despite her beauty, I also liked the way she related with the artistes at that event. I was far from her, so she didn't notice I was observing her.
After my performance, they invited us upstairs for a certain Nabila Fash's birthday. I didn't really show interest because I was tired and I didn't know she was the one. When I saw her pictures the following day, I wished I had attended the party. The event lasted for five days; we moved from one place the other. I knew she was a nice lady and I felt terrible that I didn't honour her birthday invitation.
We later met backstage at the next day's event. The first event was held in Port Harcourt while the other was in Enugu. I introduced myself to her and she did the same. From the outset, she knew I wanted something from her. She told me she was not my kind of person, but I should let her know what I wanted.
When I told her I wanted to marry her, she thought I was joking. She said she knew Oritsefemi's music but didn't know the person behind the music. She said she needed to know me more before she could say a word.
To cut the long story, she thinks I am down-to-earth regardless of the fame and she feels she can handle me. She had already taken her time to know me more before she started hearing negative things about me. All that she later heard didn't change her perception of me.

How did a street boy get to convince an educated lady like her?

Most women are very intelligent. But I have always told God that among these intelligent ones, I need just one to stand by me for the rest of my life. I think she saw that I was sincere to her from the beginning. I am always truthful to her and she is always truthful to me.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:46 PM PDT

Anxiety can be a good indicator that we should be concerned and heighten our awareness about certain situations to remind us to be prepared or stay safe. But anxiety in vast and unnecessary amounts can cause an unhealthy level of tension in our lives and hearts.

When anxiety runs the pace of our lives and not God we can find ourselves frustrated and wanting to give up. Psalm 55:22 however, reminds us that the cure for an anxious heart is to give our cares to God and trust Him with the results.

REFLECT: What care or worry can you place in the hands of our Father today?

PRAY: Dear Heavenly Father, today I release my cares and anxiety to You. I trust You can do more with my worries than I can. I pray your peace overwhelm me as I place my trust in You. In Jesus Christ Name I pray. Amen.

MMM Returns But No Money... announces a "RESTART"

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 10:46 PM PDT

Popular ponzi scheme MMM has officially announced a "RESTART" of the system, leaving many of its previous subscribers wailing with thousands and millions of Naira trapped.

In a message posted on the home page of participants Saturday morning, the scheme said that it had struggled to stay afloat after going on a break in Dec. 2016 but had been forced to do a system restart.

Many of the participants who commented in various MMM Whatsapp groups recounted sadly how they and family members had lost millions to the scheme.

MMM is a ponzi scheme which gained popularity in Nigeria in 2016. It promised to pay participants 30 per cent return on investment every 30 days.

Despite various warnings by the Federal Government and its financial regulators, many Nigerians adamantly went on to participate in MMM.

Recall that in 2016, the Federal Government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) warned Nigerians against putting their money in the scheme.

In December 2016, the scheme went on "Pause Mode", freezing the funds of participants and allegedly bolted with N18 billion but promised to resume payments by January 2017.

MMM kept its promise by resuming in January but it had new rules: 2016 money was to be paid back in percentages of new money "invested".

This also did not stand the test of time and by July 2017, the scheme went on a semi pause mode when it could not pay withdrawal requests.

It even introduced 100 % return on investment to encourage more Nigerians to participate in August.

Apparently unable to meet its promises to pay back June/July pledges and faced with more challenges, the ponzi scheme on Saturday announced that it was going on restart, blaming the Nigerian government and the media for its woes which started in 2016.

Full text of the message:

RESTART
Unfortunately, we were unable to overcome the consequences of the crisis triggered by the authorities and mass media incautious actions at the beginning of this year. Despite all our efforts. The problems have been accumulating and, as a result, we have to announce a restart.

So, there is a restart:

All old Mavros (acquired before this announcement is posted) are frozen. We will gradually buy them back as the System develops.

All transactions with new Mavros (acquired after this announcement is posted) will be carried out on the usual terms with no restrictions.

Some amendments have been made to the rules:

Mavros will now start growing at the moment the request is confirmed (not at the moment it is created, as it was previously).
Consequently, bonuses will start growing at the moment when the main contribution is confirmed (upon which bonuses have been rewarded on).
Mavro-50% for the first contribution will not be available.
We launch three-month contributions of two types: 40% and 50% (see more details in WHAT IS MMM).
We're confident that this measure (especially paragraphs 1 and 2) will significantly reduce the load on the System while also significantly improving its stability.

As a matter of fact, a restart is not the end of the world, it's just a restart of the System and nothing more. Continue to provide help and you'll get it all back (even if you've lost something now). It all starts from the beginning. It's the most opportune time for participating.

We would also like to remind you (just for form's sake) that everyone had been fully aware of all the risks and had read the WARNING which they had also confirmed by checking the relevant box in the process of registration.

Hoping for your understanding,
MMM Administration

Some of the participants of the scheme expressed regrets for ever joining MMM.

One of the participants (names with held) said that if he had known he would have used his money fro something better rather than investing on the scheme.

"This MMM people are very useless, they just came to dupe us," he said.

On the promise by the scheme to buy back the debts it owed Nigerians when it restarts, he said: "Restart? who are they restarting with? Nobody will join MMM in Nigeria again".

"MMM is gone and gone for good," he said.

Face of the American woman arrested for allegedly insulting Mugabe on Twitter | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 03:01 PM PDT

An American woman was  thrown in jail in Zimbabwe on Saturday because police say she is behind a Twitter account which mocks the country's president even though someone else has taken credit for it and continues to mock the leader from it.

Martha O'Donovan, 25, was arrested on Friday morning at her home in Harare, Zimbabwe, by police who accused her of being behind a tweet posted by anonymous Twitter user @matigary on October 11.

The tweet labeled Mugabe, 93, a 'selfish and sick' man and suggested he was relying on a catheter.
Police claim they traced its IP address to her home and they say she is behind the entire account despite the fact that it was still active on Saturday even after she was thrown in jail.

"I’m Ready For Atiku, Others In 2019 Battle" – Buhari

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 02:51 PM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari has thrown an open challenge to his party, the APC, to free the space for other leaders of the ruling party who are eyeing his seat in the 2019 contest.

Exclusive details of discussions at the APC National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting obtained by The Sun from three prominent members of the party's NWC, who attended the meeting, show that the President threw the challenge soon after the well attended NEC meeting kicked off and motions were being moved for consideration by party leaders.

The motion seeking an automatic second term ticket for Buhari was the first at the meeting and it was moved by a party chieftain from the North, simply identified as Alhaji Nosiru.

Former Zamfara state governor, Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima, seconded the motion. At that point, it was gathered, some state party chairmen at the back of the hall were shouting 'No vacancy in Aso Rock.' President Buhari then raised his two hands and pleaded that the motion be stepped down to avoid closing the space for other aspirants who may be nursing presidential ambition on the platform of the party.

"President Buhari intervened after the motion was moved and seconded. He said there will be no need for that because he didn't want the democratic space closed. He said 'let's allow others to contest, that's the beauty of democracy.'

"It was after the President's intervention that Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha in his capacity as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum moved the second motion seeking to pass a vote of confidence on Buhari and the party's leadership. Okorocha assured the President that while moving his motion that all the APC governors were ready to go to any length with Buhari and that he can rest assured they will give his aspiration full support and en-bloc", a party leader from the Northwest who is also a member of national caucus of the APC stated.

The presidency has also confirmed this account of what transpired at the NEC meeting. A similar narration was given by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina in his article at the back page of this edition of Saturday Sun.

According to the presidential spokesman, "The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the party's secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday. I was there. The atmosphere was friendly, almost convivial. At a point, someone moved a motion of confidence in the Buhari administration. The seconder, a former state governor, added to the motion, seeking an endorsement of the President as candidate for second term in 2019. As he raised the motion, I saw the President gesturing, with his two palms downwards. The gesture meant, please, cool down, not now. This is premature. And the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, weighed in, accepting the motion of confidence, and deferring the one on automatic candidacy. Everyone was satisfied."

While stating that what a section of the media reported about discussions at the meeting was largely inaccurate, Adesina said rather than governors shooting down the motion for a second term, it was Buhari who rejected the offer, stressing that "it was the President himself who had dissuaded those who made the move, by his gesture."

Preparations for President Buhari's second term bid went into full swing last weekend when his close allies opened a secretariat for the Buhari Support Organisation, BSO in Abuja from where the re-election campaign activities of the President will be coordinated.

Meanwhile, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has said that only Nigerians will determine his fate because of his interest in acts that will help deepen democracy in the country. The ex-VP's spokesman, Mr Paul Ibe said his boss stands with Nigerians on whatever that will make the country and her democracy better.

Another of Atiku's aides who pleaded anonymity claimed that reports so far about Atiku contesting the 2019 presidency are mere speculations. He argued that the former VP has processes he follows each time he wants to go for elections stressing that he was yet to activate any of the processes.

Asked to name such steps, the aide said Atiku must seek the face of God, consult his family and meet with key political associates and friends before seeking elections. So far, he said the politician was yet to take any of the steps.

He however challenged President Buhari to publicly declare that he would want an open contest for the ticket of APC instead of speaking through his aides.

Egyptian cleric says men can marry their own daughters if ..... | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 02:36 PM PDT

A prominent Egyptian Salafist cleric has suggested Islam allows men to have sex with their illegitimate daughters and marry them.
Mazen Al-Sersawi cites prominent Muslim scholar Imam Al-Shafi'i as saying because illegitimate daughters are not officially attributed to their fathers they can be married to them.

He makes the claims in a video which has gone viral and he has been widely criticized for the comments.
In the video, Al-Sersawi said Imam Al-Shafi'i is known for saying men may marry their own daughters that are born out of wedlock

Al-Sersawi, who teaches at the prestigious Egypt's Al-Azhar University, claims Al-Shafi'I says a girl born in an adulterous relationship is 'not really his daughter'.
Because an illegitimate daughter does not carry her father's name, 'she is not his daughter according to Sharia. She is not officially attributed to him'.

The video was made in 2012 but has recently resurfaced online.
Many have expressed their revulsion about his claims.
