DPO Arrested over escape of man who Killed Girl for Rituals

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 03:47 AM PDT

A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Rivers State has been arrested on orders of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zaki Mohammed Ahmed, in connection with the escape of a suspected ritualist and r*pist, Ifeanyichukwu Maxwell Dike, from police detention.

Dike, a 200 level student of the University of Port Harcourt was arrested by Okporo Police Station in Port Harcourt while trying to dispose the dismembered body of his eight year-old female relative, Chikamso Victory, who he r*pe and later killed for ritual purposes

Also, a Police Inspector (names withheld) who led the team of policemen that brought the suspect to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Port Harcourt, where he was handed over to the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), former Sergeant Johnbosco Okoroeze, who has already been dismissed from the Police, was last Friday arraigned and remanded in prison custody by a Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly aiding the escape of Dike.

According to sources at SCID in Port Harcourt, the DPO and the Inspector were arrested following revelations that they were in the know of what happened before the escape of the suspect.

The source said, "The father of the victim was uncomfortable when the police team stopped on the road for the Inspector to answer a call. It was later found out that it was the DPO who called him to expect a call from an IPO, who will be in charge of the case.

"When the Inspector's phone was checked, there was a call from one Johnbosco, who was the IPO and by the rules of the force, a DPO cannot assign an IPO to a matter that is no longer under him. So, the DPO and Inspector were invited and arrested."

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has assured that he is committed to rearresting the suspected and getting every other person involved in the murder of the girl arrested.

I've been through the mill. My entire tour was cancelled within 24 hours, because every single theater got all these death threats. These Trump fans are hard core. 8 Things To Confirm You're Ready To Get Married

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 02:02 AM PDT

My husband proposed 6 months after we started dating. Everything was moving like clockwork, until it wasn't. We hit an unanticipated mammoth sized bump on our road towards marital bliss that halted our journey towards happily-ever-after indefinitely.

Our church told us, in so many words, that we were not ready to get married. We both had some more introspective to be done before we could say "I do". Although we could have packed our bags and headed to the county courthouse, we opted to submit to the leadership of our church. It was difficult, embarrassing, slow, and absolutely one of the greatest decisions I've ever made.

As a lady, that "NO" forced me to work on the marriage rather than the wedding day. There were no dress fittings or cake tastings. It was just me working on myself...

This is a practice often left out of the marriage preparation equation. Our culture is obsessed with Bachlorette romances and fairy tale weddings that more so characterize a soap opera than a bona fide union. Marriages, however, are not made amid the Hollywood glitz and glam, but in the imperfect and often challenging behind the scenes work of becoming one.

Intuitively, we know this, but when a woman is blinded by bliss often her desire to experience a day she's dreamt about overrides common sense. She may be reluctant to listen to the voice of wisdom, tempted to override internal checks and determined to ignore massive red flags indicating she is not ready to get married.

Although it was tough to yield to that still small voice, I did, and as a result I have a few indicators for women who want to know if they are ready to get married.

1. She has a healthy growing relationship with God.
Before a woman gives her heart to a man she should give it to God. He controls the outcome of all things and will direct her path, even romantically, if she allows Him. A willingness to put God first keeps a woman from making an idol out of a man, a wedding, or the state of being married. Yes, they are gifts from God but they are not gods themselves and should not be worshipped. We are instructed in Psalms 37:4(NIV) to "Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." A willingness to develop a relationship with God and submit to His way, timing, and choice is an indication that a woman is ready for marriage.

2. She knows herself.
By establishing a relationship with God, He then teaches us about ourselves. InPsalms 139:13-14 (NIV) it says," For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful," A woman should know everything she can about herself prior to getting married: her temperament, quirks, pet peeves, talents, passions and abilities to name a few. The more a woman knows herself the better she is able to make a discriminatory decision regarding the man she will spend the rest of her life with.

3. She has processed any childhood hurts.
Jeremiah 29:17 (ESV) says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" Often we are not aware of the contents of our hearts until we are in an unfavorable circumstance. What's in us seeps out, spilling onto anyone and everything in our path. This could look like a heated argument or a financial crisis. Moments like these trigger our unhealed wounds and cause us to respond in ways that are unhealthy. A woman who is prepared for marriage has taken the time to explore the pain of her past in order to enter a marital relationship whole instead of fractured.

4. She has her finances in order.
Money has never been my strong suit. While I was single I did however, attempt to work on my financial footprint. A woman preparing for marriage should know her net worth, live below her means, get out of debt, invest, save, and pay her bills on time. If her finances are in disarray prior to marriage getting hitched won't solve the problem; it will only make things worse.

5. She is emotionally healthy.
Emotions are tricky. They are a part of us but sometimes relying on them can be problematic. A woman who is emotionally healthy is able to not only process her pain but articulate and communicate her feelings in a responsible way. This is absolutely vital in order to build strong communication in the union between a man and a woman. If a woman does not prioritize this area in her life it will eventually show up in her behavior. Philippians 7-8 (NIV says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

6. She has eliminated questionable males in her life.
No husband wants to take a back seat to another man. Great marriages are birthed with exclusivity. A woman who is serious about laying a strong foundation for her marriage will eliminate all undefined relationships with the opposite s*x; ignore former male colleagues, ex-boyfriend(s), etc.

7. She has a good support system.
Everyone needs at least one other woman who is intimately involved in her life. She needs someone who can look her in the eyes and tell her the truth. A woman who has not established these types of relationships should consider doing so prior to getting married because she will need them. A husband can be a best friend but I wouldn't recommend he be the only friend. Proverbs 17:17 NIV) says, A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."

8. She has counted the cost.
Marriage is a commitment that should not be taken lightly. In God's eyes marriage is forever (excluding the reasons outlined in the Bible). For this reason a wise woman evaluates possible outcomes she may face: financial loss, painful arguments, sickness, and even addictions. Before she says, "I do" she needs to know if she can commit in good times and bad.

Luke 14:28 (NIV) says, "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?"

Considering these 8 indicators would bring a sense of sobriety to wedding planning. It could potentially take the focus off the day and place it on the lifetime. This is most important and what a woman should think about if she is ready to be married.

Ex-teacher who asked students to rub lotion on her sues Education Department | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 01:46 AM PDT

An ex-Manhattan teacher who asked students to rub lotion on her legs and comb her hair is suing the Department of Education so she can get another job.

Monica Johnson claims she has overcome personal issues that led to the unusual classroom activities, and needs to be cleared to work for a school vendor.

Johnson, who taught the fifth grade, was pulled out of Public School 123 in 2006 following an array of accusations.
In one instance, she called a student "a liar and a thief" and threw an object across the room, according to papers. In 2004 and 2005, she received formal warnings over allegations of corporal punishment of students.

But that wasn't all.

"You instructed students to massage lotion on your legs and feet, and to comb your hair during instructional time," the Department of Education wrote in a letter.

She was officially fired in 2008 from her job that paid $57,370 a year.

The ouster came back to haunt the 49-year-old educator last year, when she was offered a job as an after-school site manager for the social services organization University Settlement.

The job offer was rescinded after University Settlement — a Department of Education vendor — learned the reason for Johnson's firing, court papers indicate.

At the time she got in trouble, Johnson said she had been misdiagnosed with cancer, had endured a nasty custody battle and was homeless.

Johnson, who is representing herself in the case, said she now knows that "professionalism is a non-negotiable" and wants a second chance.
Ms. Johnson's behavior was inappropriate and completely unacceptable, and she is no longer eligible to work in our schools," an Education Department spokesman said.

Vice President Osinbajo Commissions Cement & Fertilizer Plants In Edo State

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 01:07 AM PDT

REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OFNIGERIA, PROFESSOR YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN AT THE COMMISSIONING OF THE EDO STATEFERTILIZER AND CHEMICAL COMPANY LIMITED NPK FERTILIZER PLANT, AUCHI, EDO STATE TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2017.

PROTOCOLS
First let me say how pleased I am to be here in Auchi, I was here in camp as a Youth Corper in1979. I lived here among the warm and friendly people of Auchi for 6 weeks.

I have had the unique honour and privilege of visiting two great industrial enterprises in Edo State, all in one day. Earlier, we were at Okpella to commission the Edo Cement Plant of the BUA Group and the groundbreaking of their second 3 million tonnes per annum line. Now we are here at Auchi and what we have here is a 60,000 metric tonne fertilizer plant.

This state-owned fertilizer plant has been recently rehabilitated, as a Public-Private Partnership. The clear objective of establishing the plant is to boost farming activities and the agric value chain nationwide. This investment is a direct response to the Federal Government's strategy of growing the Nigerian economy on a zero oil assumption.

Agriculture is that well-known but abandoned pathway to our economic diversification and national prosperity. The fundamental constraint to optimizing agriculture is access to inputs, fertilizer being a fundamental input. On the average, a Nigerian farmer uses 13kg per hectare of fertilizer compared with world average of 100kg per hectare.

This explains why Mr. President negotiated the December 2016 Fertilizer initiative, working with the Moroccan King, aimed at achieving local production of 1 million metric tons of NPK fertilizer for 2017 wet season farming. Reducing costs and delivering finished products at N5000-5500 per bag (formerly between N8-9,000 sometimes N13,000.

This, again, is an enterprise that will create at least 500 direct jobs and several more indirect jobs. It will bring us closer to self-sufficiency in fertilizer production and, perhaps most importantly, boost food production and reduce food prices, ultimately enhancing food security in Nigeria.

To the extent that it makes import unnecessary, this plant will also help us to conserve our hard earned foreign exchange. And to crown it all, I am happy to learn of the plan for a gradual extension of this project so as to steadily boost its output.

I am informed that this is an integral part of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki's plan to support and actualize the job creation and food security objectives of President Muhammadu Buhari especially the NPK fertilizer initiative.

I must therefore hasten to congratulate the dynamic and far-sighted Governor, as well as the great people of Edo State, on this great achievement. Not only will this boost the local economy, it will also impact the national economy in a significant way. It is therefore a gift from Edo State to our great country.

As you are all well aware, the Buhari administration takes private enterprise very seriously. We believe that government resources cannot bring about the rapid roll out we need, especially in the areas of infrastructure and industrial development.

It is the private sector that can do so. We are therefore committed to making it easy for businessmen to invest and do business everywhere in Nigeria.

This accounts for the Presidential Enabling Business Council set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, the work of which was fortified by the Executive Order No. 1, which I executed on May 18, 2017, on the promotion of transparency and efficiency in the business environment and facilitation of the ease of doing business.

This efficiency and transparency drive is not a challenge to the Federal Government and its officials alone.

Every State and Local Government must be involved in the effort to ensure that private businesses thrive and create employment opportunity for our growing youth population.

By harnessing private capital and the great entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerians, I believe we can seriously leverage government resources and accelerate economic development.

Let me therefore commend the Edo State Government for this partnership with WACOT, already well known Afro processing company. Barely 3 weeks ago, I was in their rice milling plant in Kebbi State.

Your Excellency, I am therefore very happy to commission this plant, which will further assist us to realise our potentials in this area.

To the Glory of God and for the benefit of humanity, it is my singular honour to commission this fertilizer plant.

Christians, 3 Questions To Ask Yourself About Social Media

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 12:32 AM PDT

From political arguments with family and friends, time-sucking Facebook snooping, unhealthy comparisons, and TMI moments, most of us have witnessed the ugly side of social media. But what are the driving forces behind what we share, write, and comment on, and why do we feel the urge to compulsively check social networks several times a day? Whether we post frequently or rarely, strategically or not, now is a good time to assess our motivations for making our mark online.

Social media has become a modern-day idol for many, but the root of this addiction is nothing new. It's an ancient sin delivered in a modern approach.

Three Questions to Ask Yourself About Social Media
Sin can be traced back to pride, and we know it's rearing its ugly head when we're thinking too highly or too lowly of others or ourselves. Unfortunately, social media is a great means of fueling the teeter-totter of self-worth. One moment, we're overly confident, humble-bragging about ourselves, and the next, we're beating ourselves up, feeling worthless.

Pride is a vicious cycle that never satisfies, and like all sin, it has the need to be fed regularly.
Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:12-14)
So how can we discern our errors as we use social media? How can we use it so our words and thoughts are acceptable in God's sight? Here are three searching questions we can ask ourselves about this modern medium:

1. Does my confidence depend on it?
At different points throughout the years, I've been drawn into the virtual world where it's easy to create a persona of confidence. But it was all a charade. I didn't actually like myself, but I temporarily received the attention and approval I felt was lacking.

This unhealthy approach to validation is all too common for people who fear never getting noticed or being forgotten among the "more valuable." For the self-confident, it's just as easy for the desire for praise to grow and consume at an alarming rate.

While it may seem normal for anyone to want approval, there's a fine line between needing encouragement and desiring self-glorification. Whether we have too much confidence in ourselves or not enough, the problem remains: We're not putting our full confidence in who God is, who he made us to be, and how he views us as his cherished children.
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness. (Psalm 115:1)
The Bible calls us to be humble, give God the glory, and boast only in him. Sure, we can share thoughts, humor, experiences, and the like, but social media doesn't give us a free pass to be self-glorifying.

In Philippians 4, Paul tells us to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, which filters out many of the posts we see and create ourselves. Before posting, we should consider whether it will be encouraging to viewers and honoring to God, or if it's feeding a desire for attention.

If it's the latter, we should remind ourselves through God's Word of the position we hold through Christ, one that should humble and astound us. We are sons and daughters of God and his servants, granting us both freedom and responsibility. So let's take time to step away from the computer or phone and think before we seek attention.

2. Does it keep me from loving others?
I wish I could say I haven't made snide remarks, wrong assumptions, and quick judgments about things people share, but I have. It's ugly, it's mean, and it's sin. It's something the Lord has been calling me out on over the years, and with his help, I've become slower to share unnecessary opinions with others offline about judgments I've made online.

The Bible talks a lot about the tongue and its power to curse or bless others.Proverbs 12:18 says, "The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."

The mind and heart transfer sin through our fingers as we type words of condescension, pretension, and disrespect. But as we're told in Colossians 4, our conversations should always be full of grace and seasoned with salt. Kindness, respect, and wisdom should saturate every form of communication, especially because our words are a witness to unbelievers.

There are times when we should address concerns with the author of questionable posts in a gentle and loving way, but we should take a humble step back before we react in self-righteousness. Our sin has been graciously and miraculously washed clean by Jesus' blood and righteousness, so let's seek to show that same grace to others, listen before we respond, and love as Jesus loves through our patience.

What may seem witty or hilarious to us in the moment can cause permanent damage in the long-run. We may be able to delete some comments, but the memory of what we've said will remain. As David sang in Psalm 141, may we ask God to set a guard over our mouths and keep watch over the doors of our lips.

3. Am I holding myself accountable?
Social media is often a platform for pride, disappointment, jealousy, and anger. So we seek to act with self-control and hold ourselves accountable for what is said and done behind the false security of our screens.
Do our words, thoughts, and actions reflect God's light and wholeness, and do they bring him honor?
Are we building others up or tearing them down?
Are we basing our worth on the opinions of man or God?
Will the things we're tempted to brag about ultimately matter in the scheme of eternity?

Social Media in Perspective We may feel alone, misunderstood, and trapped by our sin, but Jesus is the only way of escape and true freedom — from the opinions of others, ourselves, sin, and, ultimately, death. He purchased our freedom at the costliest price, his very life, and took on the unbearable, the unbelievable, and the impossible for us at the cross — All so we might taste life without the shackles of sin, even within social media, and know eternity in his presence.

Realistic sex doll brings in hundreds of new customers for brothel | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 12:09 AM PDT

A "realistic" sex robot has brought in hundreds of new customer's for an Irish brothel after they began renting it out.

The Dublin establishment made headlines last month after advertising its lifelike sex doll for a reported €100-an-hour.

The robot, dubbed Passion Dolly, has been described as "Ireland's most realistic sex doll" and was shipped here from the US, reports the Irish Mirror .

The doll has achieved such great success that it's owners, two Eastern European bordello workers, now want to expand the business overseas.
The ad on an adult website reads:
"Are you wasting money paying for sex… or watching porn? Why not have the full pleasure of having sex with the most beautiful girl whenever you want and as many times as you want? Passion Dolly is an ultra-realistic sex doll for your pleasure.

Story Of 2 Corpers Who Fought, Leaving One With Injury

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 12:02 AM PDT

The news trended in sections of the media on Saturday of a corper who attacked another corper with weapon in Akoko south east in Ondo state. But the issues was blown out of proportion.

According to our Fab Info findings, it was a case of a quarrel between two corpers, Yakubu Suleiman and Adina Josiah. The quarrel led to a fight and Suleiman got injured in the process.

The incident got to the notice of the NYSC State Coordinator Ondo State, Mr. Sunday Aroni, who intervened earlier today to put the matter to rest.

Though before this intervention by the State Coordinator, some persons have intervened, however the victim felt justice was not done to the case because he was not compensated for his hospital bills as promised by the Chairman of Akoko South East local government.

Hence, Yakubu Suleiman presented his grievance on the social media without recourse to the NYSC management, and it was discovered that some mischief makers capitalized on the occurrence.

The State Coordinator got wind of the case, and swung into action by inviting both parties and the president of Muslim Corpers' Association and that of the Nigerian Christian Corpers' Fellowship to a reconciliation meeting at the NYSC State Secretariat, Igbatoro, Ondo State.

The Akoko South East Local Government Inspector was also summoned, and some management staff were equally present at the meeting.

The victim was pacified and compensated at the meeting, while the member that provoked the other, Adina Josiah, was asked to write an apology letter and an undertaken that he was not going to torment the victim any longer.

At the end of the reconciliation, both parties shook hands, embraced each other and also assured the management of the NYSC, Ondo State, that nothing of such would happen again.

A Prayer To Stand & Defeat The Enemy

Posted: 30 Aug 2017 12:02 AM PDT

"If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all" (Isaiah 7:9b NIV).

Being from North Carolina, I love the old black-and-white Andy Griffith television programs. In one episode, the neighborhood bully is picking on Opie. After Andy, the wise father, figures out what is disturbing his moping son, he gives him a little lesson in standing up to bullies.

The next day, when the bully threatens Opie, the little freckle-faced boy looks his opponent in the eye and refuses to crumble under his threats. Opie never had to throw the first punch. All he did was stand his ground and the enemy backed away.

Bullies don't like it when we stand up to them. Never have. Never will. And it is the same way with the devil. He's just a bully...daring you to stand up to him.

In Ephesians 6:11-14, Paul admonishes us to stand three times. "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then…"

No one can stand for us. We have to stand on our own two feet and stand up against the enemy — and we stand on the Word of Truth.

The Lord said through the prophet Isaiah, "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all" (Isaiah 7:9b). As the old songwriter penned, "On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand."

Paul wrote, "Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ,"
(2 Corinthians 1:21 NIV).

Maybe you've been running from the bully for way too long. He's all bark and no bite. He's a toothless cowardly lion. Go ahead. Take your stand.

Pray: Heavenly Father, give me the courage to stand against the enemy today. I put on the armor of God: the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the sandals of the gospel of peace, the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and the shield of faith. Thank You for the promise that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Posted: 29 Aug 2017 09:49 PM PDT

Suspected cultists numbering about 20 Monday night stormed the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) hostile at Ikorodu injuring four.

Those injured were said to be students of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, who were asleep at the time their attackers struck.

They were identified as Masud Sanusi, Sherif Muhammad, Kazeem Adebayo and Salawu Jamiu.

It was gathered that the cultists had earlier stormed the premises in the guise of looking for a rival cultist and some items he might have dropped there.

The Nation learnt that when they did not see anything, the hoodlums left only to return around 9pm and started attacking occupants of the hostile.

According to the state's MSSN President, Dr. Saheed Ashafa, the attack was to forcefully initiate a Muslim student.

He said: "Our members in Ikorodu were attacked by cultists in their hostel last night (Monday). According to the report sent to me on Tuesday, they (the attackers) were actually trying to initiate a brother (Muslim student) in Ordinary National Diploma (OND) one (part time).

"So they wanted to intimidate the MSSN hostel where he resides to get their way. I was informed that the cultists have been threatening him from school with the support of a lecturer.

"They had access to the hostel at first by claiming that they are searching for their missing item but later said they were looking for a student who usually hung around the hostile.
"They left and around 9pm, returned numbering aboit 20 and started attacking our brothers. One was seriously injured and three others sustained minor injuries.
"When I got there four of the suspects have been arrested and handed over to the school security.  They were interrogated and released but the school management said they would investigate the matter and get all those involved.

"They said they allowed them to go because they need to get all those who took part in the attack. They also said that some of the suspects already have previous cases hanging on their necks."

Irked by the attack, MSSN LASPOTECH chapter described the attack as injustice of the greatest order, which they would not condone.
