Trusting God With Your Tomorrows

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 03:42 AM PDT

God interrupted my new normal. He made it undeniably clear that His plans for me were different. Bigger. God's intentions were for freedom — the freedom of His people, the women who were captives, slaves to their life-wounds. God called me to face the pains of my past so that my Girlfriends in God might face a future of freedom when they hear my testimony.

His plans of emancipation required that I obey Him, listen to His voice, follow His instructions.

I quivered and doubted. I made excuses about why I couldn't do it. I felt completely unfit and unqualified for such a task. It was risky. But God met me at my doubts. He called me to courage and is using my broken-into-beautiful story as an instrument of deliverance, truth, power, and freedom. Yes, I make mistakes along the way, but God is powerful in, through, and in spite of each one. Through each surrendered day, God is leading as only He can. With power, with purpose, with love. And I pray right now that this story — my story — will bring you to a new place of promise and freedom through the grace of Jesus Christ.

What fresh and fiery mission is God calling you to trust Him with, friend? Let me encourage you to stop with the excuses. I'm living proof that God will free anyone from her shame and can use anyone for His purpose. Step up to the burning bush — into God's presence. Listen to His voice. Obey. Follow. Take courage. Trust Him with your past and with your tomorrows. Allow His grace and love to decide what your mission should look like.
But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. (Exodus 9:16)

Let's Pray;
Dear God, with a trembling heart, I approach Your throne of grace today in reverence and humility, fully aware that You are holy and I am not. Speak, Lord. Show me the plans You have for me. Bind me to Your Word and to Your strength so I will have the courage to obey. May my brokenness be restored for the beauty of Your glory. Please help me to trust You with my today and my tomorrows. In Jesus's name I pray, amen.

How Herdsmen Kill 32 People In Kogi, Burn Houses

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 03:07 AM PDT

Blood flowed freely in the early hours of Wednesday when some suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Oganeinugu community in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State and killed no fewer than 32 people.

Two people were also reported dead in the adjoining town of Iyale, where the people of Oganeinugu ran to take refuge. Similarly, it was gathered that another group of Fulani herdsmen simultaneously launched attacks on five other communities, Obakume, Idrisu, Ogo, Ayojeju and Ikboba, all in Omala Local Government Area, killing several people and setting their houses ablaze.

According to Daily Sun, earlier, Joshua Angulu was said to have been killed by some herdsmen while working on his farm at Abejukolo. According to reports, the man was hacked down for raising the alarm when the herders raided his farm.

The killings in Oganeinugu were said to have taken place after the herdsmen stormed the community with guns and other weapons and slaughtered residents, mostly women and children.

According to a witness, the bandits killed four people in a particular house belonging to a serving policeman, wiping out the whole family.

As at the time of filing in this report, the killings were said to be ongoing as members of the community were still running helter-skelter, making the actual casualty figures uncertain.

Investigations showed that the killings by herdsmen in Kogi increased to a frightening dimension following the blanket invitation Governor Yahaya Bello gave to all Fulani herdsmen late last year.

The governor, who was the first to embrace the proposed establishment of cattle colonies, even threatened to depose any traditional ruler who failed to cooperate with the herdsmen.

Many are reportedly missing after fleeing into bushes, which makes it difficult to have a clear figure of those dead or wounded.

Meanwhile, there are reports that a new set of Fulani herdsmen/terrorists has crossed into Omala Local Government Area across the River Benue from Nasarawa State. They are said to be camped in the Obakume forest, preparing for attacks on Abejukolo, the local government headquarters, and adjoining villages.

National president of the Ife (Omala) Development Association, Dr. James Odaudu, has appealed to both the federal and Kogi State governments to take urgent steps to forestall the planned attacks.

According to him, the people are yet to recover from last year's attacks on Bagana and other villages in the local government, which led to a number of deaths. Odaudu also appealed to the people to refrain from actions capable of breaching the peace.

The acting Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Kuryas Monday Bala, confirmed the attacks and said his men have been drafted to the areas to forestall further killings. He declined to give the casualty figures but promised to brief the press later.

Why Should We Disclose Our Earnings? - House Of Reps Refuse To Open Up On Salaries

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 02:07 AM PDT

Lawmakers of the House of Representative at the National Assembly, Abuja, have declined requests to disclose their salaries and running cost.

While speaking with The Cable, spokesman of the house, Abdulrazak Namdas, on behalf of his fellow lawmakers declined requests to disclose their salaries and running cost, and expressed fury when contacted over the issue.

Recall that recently, the senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani, disclosed that apart from the basic monthly salary of N750,000, each senator gets N13.5 million as "running cost".

In a swift reaction when asked to confirm the claim, Namdas said; "Democracy is not only about lawmakers…why should I disclose what I earn as a lawmaker.

"I'm not talking about the running cost of lawmakers. I can't talk on that for lawmakers in the house of representatives because we have done that before. Why should I disclose it? If you think it is a public information, then go to the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

"Do you know the salary of a minister? Is he not a public official? Why are you bothering on our own? Democracy is not about only legislators.

"I cannot say this is what I earn because you don't know the salary of a minister, and they are public officials too. But if a member of the house of representatives says he earns this amount, then I can clarify."

When told that the public is interested in knowing the earning of the lawmakers, he said: "If people are asking questions, let them be asking. It is natural for them to ask questions.

"The people don't want to know about legislators alone. They also want to know about the executive and judiciary. So, why are you only asking the legislators?"

Jerry Alagboso, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Imo state, feigned ignorance of his earnings, and when asked to give details of the earnings of lawmakers in the lower legislative chamber, he said: "I don't know anything about that (the earnings)."

When probed further, the lawmaker fired back in anger: "Why do you have to ask me about that? Go and meet the clerk of the national assembly."

An All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker from Adamawa, Abubakar Garba, in a response to an enquiry of their salaries, said; "I am not supposed to talk about that."

Seriously? Senate Gets Legal Advice To Override President Buhari

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 01:42 AM PDT

The Senate has been advised to ignore the reasons given by President Muhammadu Buhari for not signing the Electoral Act 2010 Amendment Bill passed by the National Assembly.

Based on the advice from the Senate's Legal Department, the upper chamber of the National Assembly would proceed with the process to override the President's veto on the bill, which seeks to reorder the sequence of elections.

A new Section 25 in the Electoral Act states that the sequence of the elections will commence with National Assembly, to be followed by governorship and state Houses of Assembly, while presidential poll will come last.

Buhari had written to both chambers of the National Assembly on his decision to withhold assent to the amendment bill.

In the letter dated March 8, 2018, the President had said the amendments made by the lawmakers were in conflict with the existing laws.

The Senate had resolved on Tuesday when the letter was read to members to seek legal advice from the Legal Department.

A copy of the document containing the advice given to the Senate was sighted by The Punch on Thursday.

The department listed what it considers to be the holes in all the three arguments raised by Buhari.

The lawyers said while the President claimed that the amendment introducing a specific sequence for elections under Section 25 of the Principal Act 2010 infringed on the discretion of INEC to "organise, undertake and supervise elections," the section cited by Buhari had been amended.

They argued that the correct legal position was contained in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 First Alteration Act 2010, Act No. 1, "specifically Section 5 provides that 'Section 76 of the Principal Act is altered thus…(a) Subsection (1) Line 2, by inserting immediately after the word 'commission' the words 'in accordance with the Electoral Act.'"

The department stated, "From the above amendment, it is crystal clear that the power to regulate the principal elements of all federal electoral process were expressly, by the above amendment, removed from the Independent National Electoral Commission and vested in the National Assembly, which has the power to pass laws for 'peace, order and good government' of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or any part thereof."

The department further said the President argued that the sequencing of the elections under Section 25 infringed on the discretion of INEC, "without expressly pointing out in what specific aspects or ways and manner cannot be a basis for legal or constitutional argument or decision."

The lawyers added, "With due respect, the opinion expressed is too general to establish a basis for the exercise of a legal or constitutional power, more so because 'discretion' is a principle governed by the rules of Administrative Law and not that of Constitutional Law, which the President claimed to have anchored his arguments."

They further argued that the term, 'organise, undertake and supervise,' might have conferred a wide discretion on INEC in matters of logistics in the preparation and conduct of elections, stating that the issue of discretion only comes to fore in the actual details of the preparation, organising and conducting elections.

"It is respectfully submitted that the sequencing of the elections in a bill as to which was scheduled as first or last in the conduct does not in any way hamper or affect the discretion and capacity of INEC to organise, undertake and conduct these elections into various constitutional offices provided," the department stated.

The lawyers also said the new Subsection 3 introduced into Section 138 of the Electoral Act, which the President argued repealed two crucial grounds upon which elections could be challenged, "is not entirely correct and the view could be misplaced."

Citing reasons for the displacement of Buhari's argument, the department stated that the new subsection actually clarified the ambiguity contained in Subsection 1 of the Principal Act and reinforces the constitutional standards specified in Sections 65, 106, 131 and 177 of the 1999 Constitution.

"In addition, it further provides that no person shall be qualified to contest elections in breach of any of the Sections 66, 107, 137 or 182 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended," the lawyers said.

The department further stated that the amendment to Section 152 (3) to (5), which collectively imposed an obligation on the State Independent Electoral Commissions to apply the standard of 'free, fair and credible elections in the conduct of local government elections is within the competence of the National Assembly' to make laws in respect of the procedure regulating elections into the local government councils.

This, they said, is in accordance with Item 11 of the Concurrent Legislative List of the 1999 Constitution.

The lawyers said, "It is therefore not entirely correct, with all due respect for the Mr. President, to argue that the amendment may raise constitutional issues over the competence of the National Assembly to legislate on local government elections. The Supreme Court of Nigeria has decided on this issue in the famous case of Attorney General of Abia State & Others vs Attorney General of the Federation & Others."

Lekki Wife Tortures, Locks Maid Inside Toilet In Lagos

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 01:07 AM PDT

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a fashion designer, Bisi Olukayode, for allegedly torturing her maid, Anjuah Sunday, aka Titi, at her residence in the Lekki area of the state.

Sunday had been living with the suspect at her residence in Lekki Gardens Estate Phase 3, for two years.

The Togolese, who arrived in Lagos with her grandmother, was allegedly renamed Titi and handed over to the Olukayodes by an agent.

It was alleged that Bisi tortured the 14-year-old girl with sticks, wire and canes, during which the victim sustained injuries in different parts of her body.

Bisi allegedly usually locked up Sunday in a toilet anytime she (Bisi) was going out.

Some residents, whom the victim reportedly begged for food through the window of the toilet, alerted officials of the Office of the Public Defender.

A social worker at the OPD told The Punch that the agency visited the estate on Tuesday with a view to rescuing the victim.

She said the officials first reported at the Adeniji Adele Police Station and got police back up for the operation.

"We got there around 10am. The estate security guards cooperated with us after we told them our mission. We, however, discovered that the suspect's house was locked; though we suspected that the woman and the girl were inside the house. We called her telephone number and told her we had come to see her about the girl. She immediately switched off the phone and refused to talk.

"We didn't leave until around 3pm because we learnt that the husband usually brought the children from school around that time. When we didn't see him, we called him as well, but his phone rang out," she added.

She noted that while the rescue team was leaving the estate, the security men were asked not to allow the couple sneak out with the maid.

Around 7pm, the suspect's husband was said to have returned into the estate with the children in a cab.

The husband reportedly asked the cab driver to switch off the vehicle's inner light, as he took their three children into the house.

The Punch gathered that when it was dark, the man and Sunday entered the cab.

The cab driver was about to leave the estate when he was reportedly stopped by a mobile policeman, who demanded the identity of the cab passenger.

"The policeman usually complements the security guards on the estate. He asked him if he was Mr. Olukayode, but he said no. The cop asked him three times, but he denied. A female guard checked the cab and identified him as the man they were looking for.

"At that point, the policeman asked him to step out of the cab. That was when they saw that he was sitting on the girl in the cab. The man was arrested and detained. The girl was rescued, and we were informed around 10pm," the OPD source added.

The victim, Sunday, said she got beaten most times for eating the food in the kitchen.

She said, "Sometimes, they don't give me food for a whole day. There are times they give me food without water. Other times, they will not give me food, but ask me to take a bowl of water as food. Whenever she is going out, she locks me up in the toilet and blocks the door with a big object.

"Sometimes when I am starving, I enter the kitchen to steal food. I got beaten many times because of this. Sometimes when I see that she has kept money on the table, like N50, N100, I will keep it. When she has gone out, and I see people passing, I will beg them to buy me snacks and soft drinks. Sometimes, she will eat oranges and give me the peels to eat as food."

The victim said when the OPD officials attempted to enter the house, the suspect locked all the doors and begged her for forgiveness.

"She said I should sit quietly in a place. When her phones rang continuously, she switched them off. It was that afternoon that she made my hair and asked me to take my bath.

"She knelt in front of me and asked me to forgive her. I told her to stand up that I had forgiven her. She then asked me to follow her husband out that he would take me to a church for prayers. She gave me two wraps of fufu and a tin of ketchup to eat it, with a bottle of water.

"Her husband went out in the morning with his car, but brought a cab to take me. As he was taking me out of the estate, he asked me to lie down on the chair and sat on me. A woman on the estate rescued me," she added.

The couple were arrested and transferred to the gender unit of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.

The Punch gathered that the man was, however, released over his ill health.

A source said he would not be prosecuted because he had "kidney and liver failure."

"Ordinarily, he was supposed to be prosecuted for obstruction of justice and abduction, but the major focus is the woman who abused the girl," the source added.

The Director of the OPD, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, said the state government would leave no stone unturned in the fight against child labour and abuse.

She said, "The OPD decries the high rate of child trafficking for cheap labour in the country. The government will leave no stone unturned to curb this menace. As we fight against child abuse, we are pleased to know that residents are joining us in the fight and becoming mandatory reporters."

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident.

He said there were visible marks of flogging on the vicitim to show she was abused.

"The woman was reported by good Nigerians who had seen how she locked up the girl in the kitchen from morning till night even after overworking her. She has been charged to court," he added.

FG Staff Hires Gang To Beat His Boss Over Posting, Arrested By Police

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 12:37 AM PDT

A staff member of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kehinde Adeoye, is cooling his heels in police custody after allegedly leading a gang to attack his boss at Oposuru, in the Lemode area of Ogun State.

27-year-old Adeoye was in charge of selling tickets to passengers until recently when he was posted to a railway terminus, Kajola Railway Terminus, in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that prior to the transfer, the father of one realised about N3,000 from ticket racketeering on a daily basis.

He accused his boss, Eze Ejike, of instigating his transfer.

He was said to have led Johnson and one Chibuzor (still at large) to Ejike's residence at Oposuru around 6pm last Friday to attack the boss.

During the attack, a resident was reportedly killed by one of the gang members, Kayode Johnson.

Johnson, who was beaten up by a mob, was also taken into custody.

The Punch learnt that while the attack was ongoing, Ejike raised the alarm, which drew the attention of residents as the assailants fled.

A resident, Abeeb Oluwafemi, aka Eleja, had wanted to prevent Johnson from escaping when the attacker stabbed him in the chest.

It was gathered that Oluwafemi was rushed to a hospital where he died while a police team from the Agbado Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Sunday Omonijo, rescued Johnson from being lynched by angry youths.

Adeoye, a native of Araromi, Ondo State, said he had told his friends to break Ejike's leg to teach him a lesson for allegedly blocking the extra money he made from ticketing.

He said, "I hold National Diploma in Business Administration and work with the Nigerian Railway Corporation. I live on Adekunle Adekemi Street, Itoki. I was posted to work on the train in July last year. I was in charge of ticketing. I made about N3,000 everyday.

"In December, one of my bosses, Mr. Ejike, was also posted to work on the train. He reported me to our superiors and I was reposted to the Kajola Railway Terminus. I was pained; I have a wife and a child. I decided to do something that would make him to sit at home for two months.

"I invited my friends and told them to injure my boss in the leg. I took them to his house in Oposuru. While they were beating him up, he raised the alarm. We flagged down a tricycle and hopped in. The rider refused to go when he saw some people chasing us.

"Chibuzor and I ran away, while Kayode (Johnson) was caught. It was when I went to a police station to report myself the following day that I learnt that Kayode stabbed somebody to death."

Johnson, 31, who was hospitalised due to the injuries inflicted on him by a mob, said he stabbed the deceased in defence.

"Kehinde (Adeoye) is my childhood friend. He told me that his boss orchestrated his posting to where he did not like and begged me and Chibuzor to help beat him up. While we were attacking him at a junction, he shouted. Some people around the area responded and chased us.

"One of them stopped me from escaping. He stabbed me in the finger. I collected the knife from him and stabbed him in the chest. I was held by the crowd and beaten up," he said.

The Director of Operations, Nigerian Railway Operations, Mr. Niyi Ali, said the corporation was aware of the incident, adding that the police had commenced investigation.

He said, "It is a criminal matter being investigated by the police. It is being handled by the police."

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command was making efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect.

He said, "The railway worker mobilised his friends from Ebute-Meta, Lagos, to beat up his boss.

"The worker and his accomplice, who stabbed a man that wanted to catch him, have been arrested and transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta."

NJC Sacks Suspended Abia Female Chief Judge

Posted: 16 Mar 2018 12:37 AM PDT

The National Judicial Council said on Thursday that it had recommended the earlier suspended Chief Judge of Abia State, Justice Theresa Uzokwe, and Justice Obisike Oji, who had a brief stint as the Acting Chief Judge of the state for compulsory retirement.

The NJC also said in a statement by its Director, Information, Mr. Soji Oye, that it had set up committees to probe an unnamed Justice of the Supreme Court and Chief Judges of two states.

The allegations against Justice of the apex court and the two Chief Judges were also not disclosed.

According to Oye, the NJC, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mr. Walter Onnoghen, took the decisions at its 85th meeting which held on March 14, Wednesday.

The Abia State House of Assembly had on January 26, 2018 passed a resolution suspending Justice Uzokwe as the state's Chief Judge.

It directed Governor Ikpeazu to appoint an acting Chief Judge pending the completion of investigation by its committee into alleged acts of Justice Uzokwe's misconduct.

The governor had subsequently appointed Justice Orji as the acting Chief Judge of the state.

But the NJC on January 31, 2018, declared the suspension of Justice Uzokwe, by the House of Assembly of the state as unconstitutional, the step having been taken without any recommendation by the council.

The Punch reports that while directing Justice Uzokwe to step aside, the NJC had also suspended Justice Oji for submitting himself for unconstitutional swearing as the Acting CJ.

Oye said in his statement on Thursday that the NJC recommended for compulsory retirement earlier on Wednesday "following the findings of two investigative committees set up by the council".

"The committees investigated petitions against her by Umeh Kalu (SAN), the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice of Abia State, alleging illegal constitution and working with a parallel Judicial Service Commission instead of the one constituted by the state governor and confirmed by the House of Assembly.

"Justice Uzokwe was also found to have misconducted himself in suit number, HU/131/2005, wherein he delivered judgment in the sum of N825,000 only in favour of a litigant, but subsequently signed a garnishee order of N109,612,500, only."

Concerning Justice Oji, the statement said he was sanction for allowing himself to be sworn in as acting Chief Judge.

The statement read in part, "Hon. Mr. Justice Obisike Oji was earlier queried by the council for allowing himself to be sworn in as acting Chief Judge, and thereby colluding in, and aiding an unconstitutional process."

People Will Stop Shouting Over What Senators Earn If I Reveal What Governors Earn - Peter Obi

Posted: 15 Mar 2018 11:52 AM PDT

As millions of Nigerians continue to condemn the high allowances paid to Nigerian lawmakers, a former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, has said that if he exposes what governors earn, people will keep quiet.

While speaking as a panelist at The Dialogue organised by Ripples Centre for Data and Investigative Journalism in Lagos on Thursday, he said that what governors earn in Nigeria is immoderate.

According to The Cable, the influential politician told the audience that if he revealed how much a Nigerian governor earns, the outrage would be hotter than what trailed the N13.5 million monthly pay of senators.

He said; "None of you knows what a governor earns, quote me anywhere if you know you won't be here.

"It is something you can't imagine. You just know the one of senators, and you are shouting, but what if you know that of the governors?"

While comparing Nigeria with the United States, Peter Obi spoke of the modesty in the earnings of public office holders in America.

He said; "America's GDP is way above Nigeria's but an American senator earns $174,000 (about N50 million) a year and you can imagine what his Nigerian counterpart earns in a month," he said.

"In America, governors earn according to their state. The governor of California is the highest paid in America, and he earns $192,000. The smallest state earns $70,000. But in Nigeria, I can tell you because I've been there, the cost of just keeping convoys alone is in millions. And when people ask me why am I saying these things, I tell them that even if we made mistakes yesterday, can't we correct it today?"

Peter Obi said while in power, he reduced the vehicles in his convoy to four, adding that he never used a bulletproof car.

"I asked them, why are all these vehicles following me, and nobody was able to explain to me. I didn't stop it because of them following me, but the cost of maintaining them was high. I asked them why do we need to spend about N30 million fueling these vehicles that 60 percent are empty when following me?" he said.

"What is the essence of a bulletproof car? Anyone who wants to kill you would come when you are out of the car. For eight years I didn't use, and they didn't kill me."

Peter Obi also noted that politicians are fond of making promises they cannot fulfil when voted into power.

"You told us that you are going to solve a problem, and we voted you, and now you are telling us that you met a problem, what do you expect to meet?" he asked.

"You shouldn't tell us the story of what you met there, we do not expect 100 percent result, but 100 percent effort. We voted you because you said you are going to solve this problem."

Government Has Removed Dichotomy Between HND and B.Sc

Posted: 15 Mar 2018 11:52 AM PDT

The Federal Government has said it has removed the dichotomy between holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelor of Science degree in the Federal Civil Service.

With this new development, it has enhanced the entry Salary Grade Level for all category of Higher National Diploma (HND) holders in the Federal Civil Service from Level 07 to Grade Level 08.

Speaking at the 40th National Council on Establishment holding in Owerri, Imo State capital, the Permanent Secretary, Service, Policies and Strategies Office (SPSO), Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Ndubuisi Osuji said this was in compliance with decisions reached at the 39th National Council on Establishment.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday in Abuja by an Assistant Director, Media Relations, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Timothy Akpoli, on behalf of the Director of Communications.

Osuji was quoted to have said that the decisions arrived at the 39th NCE were fully implemented through various circulars conveyed to the relevant stakeholders.

He listed some of these decisions to include uniform Scheme of Service for all category of Nurses with the common nomenclature of 'Nursing Officers': Internship for graduate Nurses who do not possess the professional Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife qualification.

Others are enhancing entry Salary Grade Level 08 for all category of Higher National Diploma (HND) holders; and creation of Assistant Education Officers Cadre SGL 07 – 14 for candidates with the requisite qualification in Special Education.

He also said that the meeting would consider a total of eighty memoranda comprising eighteen reference cases and sixty-six new memoranda, submitted by State Governments, Federal Government Agencies and other stakeholders.

In addition, he said the reports and recommendations of both the Standing Committees and Joint National Public Service Negotiating Councils were part of the agenda for the meeting.

According to him, the previous decisions of Council on the creation of new cadres, amendment or elongation of existing cadres, have been collated for inclusion in the on-going review of the Scheme of Service due to be published soon. This, he noted, would achieve the twin objectives of producing a single reference document for all cadres/professional groups in the Civil Service, as well as reduce the numerous requests for clarifications and interpretation on various establishment decisions of Council.

Osuji urged the participants to bring their wealth of experience to bear during the deliberation, saying that the experiences of the officials have place on them a unique position to evaluate the memoranda and recommend measures that would have positive impact on service delivery, as well as improve the processes and system of operations in the Civil Service.

The Head of Service, Imo State, Mr Callistus Ekenze, in his address said that the meeting will signpost a lot of issues and throw up matters that will at the end gladden the mind of workers.

He called on all participants to give their best and contribute constructively to issues that will be raised. The NCE is a forum where the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Head of Service of the 36 states of the Federation and Permanent Secretaries (Establishment) in both the Federal and State Civil Service meet yearly to deliberate on matters affecting the Civil Service, especially the scheme and conditions of service.

Stop Shedding 'Unjust' Tears, Deal With The 'Bloodthirsty Terrorists' - Soyinka tells Buhari

Speaking while delivering the keynote paper at a dialogue organised by Ripples Centre for Data and Investigative Journalism in Lagos on Thursday, Prof. Wole Soyinka slammed President Muhammadu Buhari over his "inability to get justice" for victims of herdsmen and Boko Haram insurgents attack.

The Nobel laureate said what we need now is justice and not sympathy, adding that rather than visiting the affected areas, Buhari should speak to people's security needs, and bring perpetrators to book.

He said: "I get impatient when I hear things like Buhari has failed to go and sympathise with the people of Benue, with the people of Nassarawa, with the people of Dapchi or wherever.

"Who needs sympathy? Is it sympathy that will reorder their broken lives?

"Is sympathy the issue? We are speaking here of one commodity that is fundamentally human deserving - Justice.

"There should an internal measure to avoid repeat. We are speaking here of a president that will respond with massive action and not showing up at the arena of human desecration to shed any unjust tears, but give orders that the bloodthirsty terrorists are brought to book."

According to The Cable, Soyinka said failure on the part of government has been the reason the country is yet to get over the security challenges.

Shock As Nigerian Mother Confesses In Church To Cursing Her Own Daughter's Womb

Posted: 15 Mar 2018 04:37 AM PDT

This story tells you how some women can be going to church, carrying Bible like true Christians but they are actually terrible demonic agents, causing damages to their children's life and to anyone who gets involved with their children. Such women are often members of big churches where the Pastor or Bishop hardly sees "Spiritual Operations".

A Nigerian identified as Michael Ose George-Ukhuegbe, has taken to social media to share a heartbreaking story of what a mother did to her own daughter.

Read the shocking story below;

"A colleague told me at work: A woman in Nigeria wanted to visit Israel for Pilgrimage, a week before leaving, the church Pastor said if there's anybody in the congregation who's planning to travel to Israel for Pilgrimage, they should go and make peace with anybody they may have hurt or else they won't return alive.

"After service, the woman picked up her phone called the daughter who lives here in London then started confessing and apologizing to her and seeking forgiveness saying that she placed a curse on her womb among other juju she did.

"She said the daughter has forgiven her. It takes God to be able to forgive. I was like, her own daughter? The lady in question is a friend to my colleague. This happened some few days ago!

Only God sees the heart of those who cover their faces with the pretentious veil of 'Christianity in public while they go behind to sacrifice chickens to idols!"

This is a reality in some families today. The Right Prayer is key!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 secured the conviction and sentencing of one Paul Onwughalu, a former Head of Operations, Union Bank Plc, Head Office, Marina, Lagos, before Justice S.S. Ogunsanya of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere.

The convict had been arraigned on February 24, 2014 on a four-count charge bordering on failure to conduct due diligence in financial transactions.

One of the counts reads:
"That you, Paul Onwughalu, on or about the 9th of January, 2013, at Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division, whilst being an employee of Union Bank Plc, failed to exercise due diligence in relation to the conduct of financial transactions with one DanKawu Bureau De Change by confirming and authorizing payment of the sum of 450,000,000 (Four Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) fraudulently transferred by hacking into Union Bank database (flexcube) and transferring the said sum to Union Bank Plc account of one DanKawu Bureau De Change domiciled in Union Bank, Head Office Branch, Marina, Lagos and thereby facilitated the crediting and withdrawal of the said sum by one DanKawu Bureau De Change to various accounts in Ecobank, Diamond Bank, Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa and Dankawu Bureau De Change. "

The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him, thereby setting the stage for his full trial.

In the course of the trial, the prosecution counsel, Fadeke Giwa, had presented a number of witnesses and tendered various documents that were admitted in evidence by the court.

Counsel to the convict, O. Fagbemi, pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy in sentencing his client.

Delivering her judgement, Justice Ogunsanya found the accused guilty and sentenced him to three years imprisonment on each count.

Man Reveals How He Overcame An 'Attack' As He Killed A Snake That Entered His House In Lagos

Posted: 15 Mar 2018 04:12 AM PDT

A young Lagos-based man, identified as Akinboyewa Segun, has revealed how he overcame an attack in his home after killing a python which creeped in through his window.

See the dead snake and also read his story below;

"After the programme yesterday, I went home weak and hungry... I didn't have the strength to go out and look for what to eat, so I engaged myself in other activities till it got dark... When I finally got something to eat, I couldn't eat cos my body was very hot.

So I decided to use mat to lay down a little outside close to my window. But suddenly I got discouraged from doing so, and another thought came in and said "why don't you take your bath and go eat, since its your body temperature that is hindering you from eating"...

I obeyed the voice and took my bath, and after eating I slept off. Not too long a voice started screaming out my name "come! come and see what is on your window" it was my uncle's wife shouting... I jump out with a cutlass and behold this very snake...

I pointed touch light at it and it started looking for a way to escape. And I said to it "You can never escape!"... I made sure that I smashed the head of the snake until blood started flowing from it head... And yes! I killed it... Even though there was no bush anywhere around my window, I wondered how the snake was able to get that far...

I give glory to God who discouraged me from lying down outside at my window, I don't know what would have happened... Help Me Thank God oo!!!"
