Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:50 AM PST Dr Ronny Jackson, White House Doctor and Physisian to U.S. President Donald Trump, has declared the president to be in "excellent health". "The examination went exceptionally well. The President is in excellent health and I look forward to briefing some of the details on Tuesday," Jackson said in a statement released by the White House. Jackson's declaration came after Trump received his first medical check-up at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland, on Friday. Trump's mental state has become an issue of concern recently following revelations in a recent book: "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", written by Michael Wolff. The book, which has sparked sharp criticisms among Trump's opponents and the White House, suggested that the U.S. president was mentally unfit and also heavily criticised the Trump's presidency. Trump spent about three hours at the medical facility in Maryland for the check-up, his first as president. The examination lasted several hours and measured things like Trump's blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, heart rate and weight. The White House did not, however, provide specific results of those tests. Jackson, who also provided care for President Barack Obama and became a White House physician in 2006, is expected to provide a detailed readout of the exam on Tuesday and answer questions from reporters. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

My Choice of Candidates in 2019 Presidential Election Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:10 AM PST written by Dele Momodu Fellow Nigerians, thanks for the deluge of messages and phone calls last week after reading my memo to our dear President. I doubt if any article of mine ever generated such amazing interest from the rich and poor, educated and not so educated, alike. The closest to it would be the letter I wrote to our wonderful First Lady of yore, Dame Patient Jonathan at the peak of PDP rascality. For the sake of those still wondering why I wrote so passionately, and objectively, in my last column, let me say it loud and clear, that memo was an apologia to Nigerians. I had promised to write whenever I'm finally convinced that the APC government has irredeemably flopped like its predecessor PDP. I wish to emphasise that as much as I wish that a miracle can still happen in the next 12 months or so to come before the general election, I'm sorry to inform you that the signs are ominous. The lackadaisical attitude of APC, and in particular, President Buhari, has become unbearably palpable. They are looking like a Party and President on a suicide mission. They keep making mistakes after mistakes, and blunders after blunders. There was no better time to rescue itself from the kamikaze slide than during the mass funeral in Benue State two days ago. What should have been a special occasion for national rebirth and reformation was frittered away by the sheer arrogance of the ruling class. What should have been a day of national mourning was treated with such recalcitrance, and possible disdain. It is difficult not to see or feel that this government is a victim of some witchcraft and hypnotism. A government that rode into power on the supersonic jet of goodwill of the people is barely struggling to survive a swim in the gutter of ill-wind. It is more like it has embarked on a predictable slide down a giant abyss, as by its very demeanour and offhanded posture it insults and belittles those very same people that it relied upon for the much vaunted change it promised but has found difficult to deliver. In many, albeit different ways, we seem to have gone back to the arrant impunity of the Jonathan era. What exactly is wrong? Anyway. Pardon my digression, but the recent devastating and sad events in Benue State in which some herdsmen went berserk and attacked innocent indigenes of that State deserves condemnation of these terrorists by every Nigerian. I join others in offering my condolences to the families of all those who died in the unfortunate incidents. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. I commiserate with those injured and affected by the dastardly rampage. The time has come for President Buhari to act swiftly and decisively to curb this menace which has the potential to tear our country apart, despite the strenuous and vociferous protestations by the President about our unity being non-negotiable. Now to the matter at hand. A few people suggested last week that I was working for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, probably because of our recent meeting and also partly because he is the main candidate who has declared his interest, and that is why I wrote that memo to President Muhammadu Buhari. Let me say with all the emphasis at my command that I'm not working for anybody. I'm too independent to be used by anybody. The time has not come for me to jump into the game. I have my eyes on a few bright guys of Nigeria but what if they don't get the ticket? And what happens if we have Buhari and Atiku as frontrunners in the next election? You may wish to know who between the two I will support. When I'm faced with such option, I will not shy away from declaring my position publicly. I'm not the kind that would hide my support. When Chief Olu Falae contested against Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, I supported Falae, as a matter of personal principle. He did not have cash to throw around and I even spent my meagre income to travel to Vienna to try and persuade that cerebral gentleman, of blessed memories, Dr Rilwan Lukman, who was the kingpin at OPEC headquarters in Austria, to run as Falae's Vice-President. Though the arrangement fell through, I still returned home to support Falae. Only one person can win at a time. I never supported any PDP candidate in their sixteen years in power though I admired a few of their action-packed Governors. The last election that catapulted them out of power finally convinced me that behaviourally and ideologically, the difference between APC and PDP was between six and half dozen. There was no way APC would have emerged triumphantly without the epic support of the PDP dissenters. Anyone can say whatever they like today, I was an eye-witness, and active participant, in the making of that spellbinding, suspense movie. Amaechi, Saraki, Kwankwaso, Atiku, Wamako, Tambuwal, and others from the PDP made so much difference when they added their weight to those of the godfathers from the other Parties that formed the APC conglomerate. My decision to support APC, though never a member of the Party till this day, was primarily to get rid of the PDP fiefdom that was stylishly manifesting and bourgeoning into a veritable catastrophe for the country. Two, to stop the profligacy that had characterised the government of the day. I have met some key actors who said President Goodluck Jonathan was never a corrupt man personally but he lacked the strong will to challenge his thieving acolytes. That was the major weakness that guillotined his regime. Most reluctantly for some of us, Buhari became an option and a stopgap. Anyone who followed my support for President Buhari would have seen how I regularly referred to him as the Mandela option. I didn't expect him to become a permanent feature. I've always believed that anyone above the age of 65 is a high-risk option, and I said this about Buhari during our Presidential race in 2011. However, since the last Presidential election was a straight fight between Jonathan and Buhari, the choice was totally limited. Many of those who supported Buhari also considered his anti-corruption credentials though, in retrospect, I believe we downplayed his anti-democratic records and proclivity. I still have no doubt that he's one of the most honest Nigerians alive today, although like Jonathan he seems to be surrounded by people in respect of who that is difficult to say. It is likely that age, as well as the reality and practicality of how he attained power, have jointly humbled and mellowed his almost sacramental vows against corruption. It would be tantamount to monumental hypocrisy and superlative ingratitude to bite the fingers that fed one in our hour of acute need. It has become critically obvious that what has confronted Buhari in power was never what he anticipated or bargained for. This is why I advised him last week to bow out with whatever honour he has left, instead of squandering everything away. If he stubbornly contests the next election, he would be forced to compromise and capitulate on a number of things. He would have no choice than to play the erstwhile PDP card, by opening the vaults of the Central Bank of Nigeria to political vultures who are not known to be patient or merciful in respect of primordial interests. That was my honest and candid appeal to Baba out of genuine concern for his future and legacy. Let us, at least, continue to dream that we have one selfless and incorruptible leader in Nigeria. The truth, is that my preference would be for younger candidates in both major Parties and my criteria would be as follows. The candidate must be well educated. Nigeria has produced more than enough graduates from every part of the country for us to be continuously and endlessly led by near-illiterates. The candidate should have managed people and resources, whether in a private or public capacity or both. The candidate is expected to be seriously exposed to modern trends. Ability to communicate well would be appreciated since he would have to interact with world leaders. I want a Nigerian candidate and not a sectional leader. Anyone who cannot feel at home in any part of Nigeria is not fit to lead our otherwise great nation. Anyone still relying on zoning, quota and Federal character to become anything in Nigeria is certainly an enemy of progress. We must consider the brightest people from every part. There are enough people in Nigeria who fit this bill. We can't simply say that we cannot find one such person. Our search should in reality be moving on to finding the very best of the best. Once we find our Leader and his deputy then we should not care too much about engaging others, including foreigners, who are the best at infrastructure and facility building of the type we so desire and need. Dubai is not solely managed by Emirati citizens. The UK allows foreigners to manage critical sectors, including the economy, a good example being the Bank of England (their Central Bank) headed by a Canadian, Mark Joseph Carney. I will not totally disqualify exceptional elders who have distinguished themselves under most of my above criteria lest I fall victim of the same bigotry I've been preaching against. Some elders are more reasonable, less corrupt, more business-savvy, more exposed to international standards, more efficient, less cantankerous, more focussed, and more visionary than our so-called youths. We have since come full cycle by trying sinners and saints but we have not yet succeeded in having great and big thinkers. We cannot, and must not, continue to delude ourselves that we can find saints from anywhere to lead us. What we need, as a matter of urgency and desperation are competent performers from wherever we can seek and find them. By now, we should be tired of exchanging the baton of backwardness and mediocrity every four years. Like joke, like joke, nothing spectacular has happened to us for decades now while smaller countries across Africa are marching forward confidently and admirably. Our own leaders seem to be very comfortable in our squalid, desolate and unsavoury conditions. No qualms. No urgency. No new ideas to copy, borrow or buy. We are permanently stagnant and sanguine about our perpetual state of inertia. The next election should be a turning point. We can no longer afford to play politics of ethnicity, money and religion. I reiterate that we must search frantically, extensively and productively for the best. The world would leave us very far behind at the rate we are going. We are already desperately behind and trying to play catch up. We do not need to lose more ground. I'm appealing to everyone who loves Nigeria to free Nigeria from the bondage of oppression, suppression, ethnic jingoism, religious fanaticism, terrorism, Satanism, and all forms of retrogression. 2019 cannot, and should not, be business as usual. It should be our year of true liberation and independence. Yes. The time has come to assemble our proven performers in a government of national unity. Nigeria cannot be handed over, or handled anymore by professional politicians who have no other business or job they do, and who merely see their stay in government as an opportunity for self-aggrandisement, and unashamed and unabashed looting of our collective wealth. Rather we want Nigerian leaders who are committed and passionate about their country. Our chosen leaders must be willing to sacrifice their all to ensure and enhance the comfort of their fellow citizens by providing the simple basics of life. Nigerians have never been a demanding people. We merely want education for our children, decent wages for our hard labour, good health care, electricity, water, food, security and above all peace. For now, every single one of these matters evade and elude us notwithstanding our vote for change! The President and his Vice President must provide evidence of what they have done and accomplished in their lives. Merit, productivity, passion and vison must be our watchword. Irrelevant considerations, like religion, ethnicity or even gender, have no place in this equation. May Nigeria be victorious. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:10 AM PST Their names are Joy and Testimony. Both of them are two weeks old. Baby Testimony was so named because her mother said she passed through a lot of stress before her birth, while baby Joy, according to her mother, "is the joy of my heart". Both babies are examples of children returning from Libya without their fathers. What makes their stories sad is the fact that they may never see their fathers again. Their mothers are among the 373 Edo State-born returnees from Libya. Unlike the previous batches of returnees taken care of by the International Organisation in Migration (IOM), these ones were released from an underground cell in Libya and returned to Nigeria immediately. They looked unkempt and hungry as they started begging for food from people the morning they arrived Benin City. The males among the returnees looked skinny, while some of the females are pregnant. Carol Wisdom, aged 23, is the mother of Testimony, while Alice Monday, also 23, is the mother of Joy. Both women sat separately from others, and from their looks, one could tell they were uncertain of their futures and those of their babies. They said they carried their pregnancies in an underground cell in Libya without any medication or antenatal care. What worsened their situations was the torture and beating they went through. Carol said she trained as a hair stylist before embarking on her journey to Europe. She said Burger, the agent who collected N100,000 from her, did not inform her that there was no free movement in Libya. She said she could not find any job in the country until she met her baby's father. She said her baby's father was a welder in Libya before both of them were arrested in March 2017 and led to separate cells. That was the last she saw and heard from him. She further said: "He is Igbo, but I have forgotten the state he comes from. I have his brother's contact. He does not know that I have given birth. I have not heard or seen him since we were separated. "When I leave here, I will call my husband's brother. I have not called. I called him last in March. We were not allowed to use mobile phones or call our relatives. For Alice, her problems are complicated by the fact that she only knows her baby's father as Tunde. What she knows is that he used to live in Lagos before travelling to Libya. She has forgotten the state he hails from, and there is no way of reaching his relatives. Alice said she worked as food vendor in Libya while her baby's father was a doctor. She said both of them were separated in May, 2017 when they were arrested and she had not heard any news about him, whether dead or alive. Her words: "They took us to different prisons. In the prison where I was, people were not allowed to make calls. It was there I lost the contacts of his family members. I don't have his photograph to show to my baby. I don't know the state he comes from. I only know that he lived in Lagos before coming to Libya. Culled from The Nation culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
The richest man in history,Jeff Bezos does not pay thithe-Daddy Freeze | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 13 Jan 2018 02:10 AM PST Daddy Freeze has buttressed his point that paying thithes to a pastor or church has nothing to do with prosperity by citing Amazon CEO ,Jeff Bezos as an example . Jeff Bezos who practices Scientology, is not only the world's richest man now but is said to be the richest in history. Freeze wrote The richest man in history according to many sources is Jeff Bezos. He is NOT A CHRISTIAN, HE DOES NOT PAY TITHE, HE DOES NOT SOW SEEDS TO CHURCHES OR GIVE FIRST FRUIT, and he is not doing the 50 day fast...... - If by now you do not see that the 'prosperity doctrine' is an impoverished doctrine from the pits of hell, propagated by Satan himself, your eyes will never open! You will continue in blind delusion, following people who are making money off your blindness! - The current richest man in history is not a Pentecostal Christian and doesn't pay tithe, neither are the top 10 richest people on earth nor the top ten richest countries on earth per capita, now this is a FACT! - I do not subscribe to imaginary illusions of creating wealth through the false doctrines of 'tithing' and 'seed sowing' I BELIEVE IN FACTS, BOTH BIBLICAL AND SCIENTIFIC! - As a matter of fact, when I googled his religion, nothing showed up except 'philanthropy' and 'business career' the 2 things required by the Bible to make you rich, which many churches NEVER teach. ~FRZ - #FreeTheSheeple culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Notorious Kidnapper Don Waney Worked For Politicians – Senior gang member opens up Posted: 13 Jan 2018 01:55 AM PST 'We were armed with over 20 AK47 rifles for Omoku massacre' One of the deputies of a militant and kidnap victim, Don Waney, who was killed alongside five others by security agencies on January 7, has been captured by the police in Abuja. Desmond Okotubo, described by the police as a senior member of Waney's gang, made startling revelations about his boss - the late notorious criminal. He also explained how they prepared for the massacre in Omoku, Rivers State, in which the gang killed 22 residents returning from church. The Punch learnt that he was trailed to and captured in Mpape, Abuja, where he had fled to when he escaped the shoot-out between members of the gang and security agencies, which resulted in the death of his boss in Enugu State. Okotubo was paraded before journalists in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, on Thursday. He said that following the Omoku massacre led by Waney, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, set up a Special Police Joint Investigation Team, comprising the IGP-Intelligence Response Team, the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, Force Department of Operations and the Rivers State Police Command to bring the perpetrators to Justice. He said, "The IRT attached to the joint team engaged some of the suspects in their hideouts in Awara Forest boundary between Imo and Rivers states. The shoot-out lasted several hours, resulting in the death of six of the suspects, while the others escaped with bullet wounds. "Working on intelligence, the IRT identified Okotubo and trailed him to Mpape in Abuja, where he was arrested after serious resistance on Tuesday." He was said to have rented a new apartment in the area. The police said 32 year-old Okotubo, a native of Egbenma, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, confessed to being one of the masterminds of the massacre. He gave details of how they planned the operation in Awara Town, Imo State, before they carried out the act. Even though he did not reveal the motive behind the killings, he said their leader (Waney) gathered them for a briefing on the night of January 31, 2017. He said, "The mission was to attack and kill any resident of Omoku town in sight. There were 30 of us and out of that, more than 20 carried one AK47 rifle each, but I did not carry any gun. We crossed the river from Awara to Omoku Forest and proceeded to Omoku town. As soon as we got there, we opened fire on those celebrating the New Year on the streets." Moshood said investigation was being intensified to arrest other members of the gang who were still at large. "The suspect will be arraigned as soon as the investigation on his part of the case is complete." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Davido's crew member remanded in prison after failing to meet bail conditions | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 13 Jan 2018 01:15 AM PST One of Davido's crew members who was accused of causing havoc at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport yesterday might be spending the weekend in prison as his bail conditions were not perfected until the close of work on Friday. The police arraigned 22-year-old Umarudeen Kayode on a 5 count charge at the Ikeja Magistrate court, before Mrs. E. Kubanje. He was granted bail conditions to the tune of N50, 000 and two sureties in like sum. The sureties must have variable addresses within the jurisdiction of the court. However, as at 4 pm on Friday when SaharaReporters was in the premises of the magistrate court, the bail conditions had not been perfected. The magistrate had also left the court as Mr. Umarudeen's relatives were trying to perfect the bail conditions. SaharaReporters saw him being conveyed with the prison van out of the court premises a few minutes after 4 pm. Mr. Umarudeen was charged for assault, breach of public peace and for resisting arrest. Mr. Umarudeen was arrested by airport security officials and handed over to the Nigerian police for investigation and prosecution. Crisis broke out when a Checkpoint staff at the airport attempted to verify some of the checked luggage with the attached tags, but, rather than allow the staff to carry out his official duty, Davido's aide (Kayode) insisted that he would not allow him to verify the luggage, which after much arguments and insistence, led to fisticuffs. Kayode punched the Checkpoint staff on the face, which attracted other security officials at the terminal who immediately attempted to arrest the aide. Rather than obey, he resisted arrest and pummeled another airport security staff attached to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria at the baggage claim area, an Assistant Customs Comptroller was also injured. Throughout the crisis, Davido hid in a car within the premises of the airport hoping to sprint Kayode away from the airport with the help of officials he'd mobilized with cash. I know the woman, they were living close to us here in Pipeline before they packed to Kaduna road. I told her that I would check and see if I can call the husband for her. I went inside, I met my sister and informed her that the man's wife was outside looking for him, my sister said she was going to meet the woman, I tried to stop her and told her she was not the one the woman came for but she insisted. so I followed her because I didn't want any problem. "We met the woman and then I realised that if they start talking, it may result to another thing. So, I asked my sister to go inside and went to pipeline police station. I invited a policeman, he asked the woman what the problem was, she said she was here to see her husband. The policeman asked her to follow him to the station so she can write a statement and they will return to pick her husband. But she said she was not going anywhere so the policeman left. "I went inside the house and the next thing I heard was that they had stabbed Awal. I rushed out, we did all we could to save him. We rushed him to the hospital and the doctor confirmed him dead and we brought him back home. She had left when I rushed out but the vigilante men caught and brought her later and we kept her till the police arrived." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Harvey Weinstein doesn't have any money to pay his child support | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Jan 2018 11:30 AM PST Harvey Weinstein told his ex-wife Eve Chilton he couldn't afford to pay child support for "at least one year" as he dealt with fallout from a cascade of sex abuse allegations, a court order unsealed Friday reveals. The Daily News previously reported Weinstein advised Chilton he planned to halt his support payments amid a cash crisis, but the scope of his financial forewarning wasn't clear. In the new order made public Friday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz said he denied Chilton's request for a $5 million child support pre-payment because Weinstein hadn't fallen behind yet, only suggested he would. Chilton appeared in court last month to ask that the $5 million be placed in an escrow account. Her lawyers argued she and two of her three daughters with Weinstein were due the money under her 2004 divorce agreement — and that Weinstein shouldn't be allowed to spend it on legal bills tied to his downward spiral. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Why you shouldn't drink the coffee on airplanes,’ flight attendant warns | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:40 AM PST An industry insider had advised travelers not to drink coffee on airplanes. "Don't drink the coffee on airplanes. It's the same potable water that goes through the bathroom system," an unidentified flight attendant "for a major American airline" revealed to vice.com"We recently had a test for E. coli in our water and it didn't pass, and then maintenance came on and hit a couple buttons and it passed," the flight attendant added. "So, avoid any hot water or tea. Bottled and ice is fine, of course." That said, sipping bottled water could lead you to use the plane's bathrooms, which the anonymous stew called "the most disgusting places on the planet." "There's no way these people act this way in their normal lives," the source added. "But they get on a plane and go, 'Cool, I'll just pee all over the floor and dump my peanuts right on the ground.'" The source also says that contrary to what many believe, traveling all the time for work is not so cool. "It's not nearly as glamorous as people let on," the stew said, "but you figure that out pretty quickly." culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Randy husband impregnates another woman | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:30 AM PST An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Friday dissolved an 11-year-old marriage between Elizabeth Shofunde and her husband, Babatunde, who impregnated another woman. The President of the court, Mr Akin Akinniyi, in his judgment, said it appeared that the estranged couple was tired of the marriage as all efforts to reconcile them had failed. "Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage. The petitioner, Elizabeth, 36; a petty trader, had told the court that Babatunde was a flirt, and had abandoned her after impregnating another woman. "My husband abandoned me and the children after he impregnated another woman. Elizabeth said that Babatunde battered her at any slight provocation, alleging that her husband was a drunkard. The mother of three added that she was fed up with the 11-year-old union because of Babatunde's behaviour. The respondent, Babatunde, did not deny the allegations, but said that Elizabeth's attitude pushed him to another woman. "My wife made life unbearable for me, and the frustration made me to impregnate another woman," he said. The 38-year-old furniture maker said that his wife always threatened his life with dangerous weapons. "Whenever we are fighting, Elizabeth brings out a knife or bottle to stab me, but I always escape. The respondent said that his wife denied him sex for one year. He consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying he was also fed up with the union. NAN culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
I almost died after childbirth, Serena Williams reveals | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Jan 2018 09:00 AM PST Tennis superstar, Serena Williams, has revealed that she nearly died after she had her baby last September. She said she needed an emergency C-section and that she had multiple surgeries after giving birth to daughter, Alexis Olympia. Serena experienced a wave of medical and emotional issues after giving birth to her first child last year, she told the February issue of Vogue The day after the operation, she fell ill and doctors found several small clots in her lungs. Then she suffered another terrifying scare when her C-section scar burst open and doctors found a large haematoma (a solid swelling of clotted blood within the tissues) had flooded her abdomen. Serena underwent several surgeries and was unable to get out of bed for six weeks. She said: "That was an amazing feeling (being handed her daughter). The sports star has a history of blood clots, so she was the one who raised the alarm after she found herself feeling short of breath 24 hours after becoming a mum. Serena was found to have a pulmonary embolism, and the coughing it caused meant her C-section wound burst open. Because she had been taking blood-thinners to dispel the clots, the medication caused bleeding at the site of the Caesarian section. She had to undergo another surgery, and a week later, she finally went home and found she wasn't even able to get out of bed. Her daughter, Alexis Olympia, was born via emergency Caesarean section due to the baby's alarmingly low heart rate. Little Alexis was fine after her September birth, but Williams said that "everything went bad" for her personally. Williams ultimately needed to have a filter placed in a major vein to stop blood clots from going to her lungs. She was not able to get out of bed for six weeks after she finally left the hospital a week after giving birth. Williams says the experience has taken an emotional toll on her as well. "Sometimes, I get really down and feel like, man, I can't do this," she confessed.
Williams said she has broken down frequently since becoming a mother. "Or I'll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, 'Why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby?' The emotions are insane," she said. The star has won a record 23 Grand Slam titles in her illustrious career. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
