James Cameron finally reveals why Jack had to die in ‘Titanic’ | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 27 Nov 2017 03:51 AM PST Two decades after the Titanic sank on the big screen, director James Cameron is still defending one of Hollywood's most heartbreaking movie deaths. Cameron called the decision "an artistic choice."He said "I think it's all kind of silly, really, that we're having this discussion 20 years later. But it does show that the film was effective in making Jack so endearing to the audience that it hurts them to see him die. Had he lived, the ending of the film would have been meaningless," The film is about death and separation; he had to die."he told Vanity Fair magazine. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

I Had Cancer, Was Given 2 Months to Live, The Lord Healed Me – Lady shares her story Posted: 27 Nov 2017 03:46 AM PST A Nigerian lady, Yvonne Ebadan Ogbefua, has recounted how she was miraculously healed by God of Sacorma, a form of cancer that attacks the soft tissue which knocked her down. Read her story... "Happy birthday to me. Its my testimony. Roughly four years ago, I was diagnosed with a form of cancer that attacks the soft tissue. Its called sacorma. It started as a very small lump just by my right side in my stomach region. I was on drugs, but it grew by the day. Then chemotherapy was introduced. This treatment was said to be an aggressive form of treating cancer.but instead, I will say, it fed this, and made me weak. Then the dosage was increased.my oh my!! I became too weak to even stand or sit. Was I praying all these while? Yes! To the intent I taught God has gone on vacation. Then the bomb came. YVONNE YOU ONLY HAVE TWO MONTHS TO LIVE. I rejected it instantly! That was not what my father said to me in Isaiah 65:20. I didn't have to tell nobody the news. The only people who heard, were the ones in the room with me. I didn't have to cry over it, cause it wasn't even my portion. Then, my elder sis called me one day. She said something that I will never forget.she said you're still relying on medicine Yvonne, until you make God your only source of help, you won't move him. That night I knelt down and cried, I said Lord, have mercy on me. Medicine has failed me. Then the words of my Father in the Lord Bishop David Oyedepo came to my heart. WHAT EVER MY GOD CANNOT DO, LET IT BE UNDONE. I put my "WHOLE" trust on him. Hallelujah Jesus the master healer showed up for me. Now listen. After I praised him, and dance so much in my heart cause I could barely do it physically, I received a message from the head surgeon in France telling me they could now operate. Less I forget, she once said the operation was impossible cause the tumor has grown so big and I was 2 weak.Tumor weighted 7kg.12 doctors, 10hrs of operation. Jesus gets the praise. Now to the interesting part! My 6mons follow up,on seeing this same doctor, while reading my file. She said, THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE!!! who did this operation? Surprised me, I looked around to be sure she was referring to me, cause I was in her office with her secretary and her.25 cm? she was corrected by her secretary 32cm. She screamed Wow!! Who did u say did this? In my heart I shouted Jesus did! One year six months of been sick, was like 16 years. PT 1″ culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Nigerian Senator, House of Reps Member Fight At Airport Posted: 27 Nov 2017 02:46 AM PST A Senator and a member of the House of Reps clashed on Wednesday in Yola over the distribution of relief materials to internally displaced people. The incident took place at the Yola Airport between Senator Abdulaziz Nyako and the House member representing Michika/Madagali, Adamu Kamale. What happened? Following the recent bomb blasts that rocked Madagali, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, had set aside relief materials to assist the communities affected. PT learnt that arrangements were also made for, "all the stakeholders" to go in a team by air to deliver the relief materials, while NEMA officials supervised the delivery. A security source, who was at the airport where the team gathered, narrated how the two lawmakers engaged in a violent confrontation. "A helicopter was arranged by the Air Force to convey some of the stakeholders to where the materials were to be distributed on Wednesday. However, minutes before the take-off, drama ensued at the airport. Kamale was billed to travel on board the helicopter with Senator Abdulaziz Nyako, Air Commodore Sunday Ohemu and others," the source said. "But, while they were about to board the helicopter, Senator Abdulaziz Nyako was seen saying that, 'Kamale should not be allowed to use the helicopter as he (Nyako) is the chairman of the delegation.' This caused drama and hot argument." Mr. Kamale told PT his version of what transpired. "Following the unfortunate incidence of bomb blast explosions in Madagali, which is one of the local governments in my constituency, the Governor of Adamawa State, together with other well-meaning Nigerians including members of the National Assembly solicited for relief materials from the National Emergency Agency (NEMA) for the people of Madagali. "As the honourable member representing the area, I personally called on the director general of NEMA earlier on Monday the 20th of November, 2017 to ensure the delivery of the relief materials. Arrangements were made with all the stakeholders, including Senator Abdulaziz Nyako, who is the chairman, senate committee on IDPs /NEMA to deliver the relief materials. Air Commodore Ohemu was assigned by NEMA to supervise the delivery. "A helicopter was arranged by the Air Force to convey some of the stakeholders to where the materials was to be distributed on Wednesday, November, 21st, 2017 by 9am. I was billed to travel on board the helicopter with Senator Abdulaziz Nyako, Air commodore Ohemu and others. He said he did not bargain for what he met when he tried boarding the aircraft. "To my utmost dismay, while I was to board the helicopter, Senator Abdulaziz Nyako ordered that I should not be permitted to use the helicopter as he is the chairman of the delegation. "All my efforts to draw the attention of the Senator and the Air Force officer failed and in the process, the Air Force officer ordered his men on ground to assault my person and to put me in the guardroom. They tore up my dresses. I sustained a lot of bruises from my forceful withdrawal from the helicopter," Mr. Kamale said. He added, that, "The people of Madagali have suffered several attacks and have been traumatised for many years. As their representative, I have never seen Senator Abdulaziz Nyako in Madagali to commiserate with the people of the area over the several unfortunate incidences. "I cannot explain this sudden 'monopoly' of the Senator on the Federal government's relief materials meant for the people of my constituency," Mr. Kamale said. Mr. Nyako denied assaulting the lawmaker. He also gave his version of what happened at the airport. "Last week, I was at NEMA headquarters for oversight function being the chairman, senate committee on IDPs/ NEMA. They requested me to be part (of the process) and to chair the relief materials' distribution in Gulak, Madagali. So they assured me they would provide me with an aircraft, and they requested that I should provide them with the list of those who will be in my entourage. "Naturally I provided the names of members of my committee in the Senate and I was also informed by the DG NEMA that Senator Binta Masi Garba (representing the area) will want to be in attendance. So I included her name and that of the chairman, House of Reps committee on NEMA /IDPs, Hon.Jibrin Galjumari. "To our dismay, after we all boarded the helicopter and the crew had finished all checks and engine was set on with propeller rolling, about to take-off, to our shock, the man in question (Mr. Kamale) from nowhere just jumped in, in what could be described as suicidal mission. He wanted to 'climb' the aircraft, a serious situation he put us in. "So he should thank God for saving his life, not blame me! We were all shocked to our marrow when we were later told that he was a federal lawmaker, who should have known the consequence (of what he did)," Mr. Nyako said. The North-east zonal coordinator of NEMA, Bashir Garga, blamed Mr. Kamale for his action which he described as a "suicide mission." "In the first place, NEMA provided the names of those scheduled for the flight. Kamale's name was not in the flight manifesto but the honourable member declined to heed to our pleas. "How could he attempt to enter, after the helicopter was about lifting into the air? Infact, if not that the Air Force pilot was 'mindful', the propeller could have cut off his head," the official said. The air commodore's version of what happened could not be immediately obtained. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Atiku Ready To Take Jonathan’s Advice To Beg Obasanjo Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:41 AM PST Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says he has not ruled out the possibility of holding talks with his former boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, in pursuit of his political ambition. Atiku's Media Adviser, Mazi Paul Ibe, stated this on behalf of his principal during a phone interview with Punch correspondents in Abuja on Sunday. Ibe explained that Atiku, a master of consensus building, would not discountenance the importance of carrying everyone along. He spoke in reaction to the advice given by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Jonathan had, in an interview, described ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo as "the boss of bosses." He had advised Atiku to reconcile with Obasanjo in order realize his political ambition. Ibe said, "His Excellency, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, is a savvy politician and he will not discountenance the importance of carrying everybody along in order to build a consensus." Atiku meets PDP leaders It was gathered on Sunday that Atiku had been meeting with leaders of the PDP. NAN reported that the former number two citizen had met with members Adamawa PDP executive at all levels, as well as state chairmen from the six states that made up the North-East. He was also said to have met with the PDP national vice-chairman in the North-East. The Adamawa State PDP Secretary, Abdullahi Prambe, said, "The meetings have been fruitful. "Our meetings with him (Atiku) have been fruitful and from his body language, he will soon return to the PDP." "With Atiku, the party will carry more weight and more people will come back." Senators fault el-Rufai's criticism Some members of the Senate, including some APC senators, have faulted Governor Nasir e-Rufai of Kaduna State and other politicians who criticised Atiku's resignation from the ruling party. Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, (APC, Kwara-South), in a phone interview with Punch, said the former vice-president should not be underrated. Ibrahim said, "Let us be strategic in the APC. We should not take it from the angle of the Governor of Kaduna State who said he (Atiku) is a serial defector. This is the kind of words that make you lose what you have." The lawmaker noted that while many critics of Atiku's resignation thought it was for his presidential ambition, the former vice president could choose to back a candidate against Buhari. Also, Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna-Central) said el-Rufai's condemnation of Atiku was inspired by their long-standing rivalry. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Mugabge and wife to receive $10m 'goodbye package' | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:06 AM PST Deposed Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace are to receive $10million as well as immunity from prosecution as part of a reported "golden goodbye" package. The 93-year-old autocrat, who finally bowed to pressure to resign after 37 years in power, is said to have struck a bargain with the military to allow him and his wife to enjoy their retirement in the lap of luxury in Zimbabwe rather than being forced into exile. Although ousted by a military takeover, Mr Mugabe will continue to enjoy full military protection as a former head of state as well as his full presidential salary of £112,500 a year until his death, local media reported. "Gucci Grace", Mugabe's wife, more than 40 years younger than her husband, will continue to receive half of his salary after his death. According to reports, Mr Mugabe negotiated the exit package for himself and his 52-year-old wife through a team of mediators who included a Catholic priest. An unnamed source told the Zimbabwe Independent: "Government will give him a £3.75m lump sum and then the remainder will be paid out in instalments. "We were told that the President had resigned, but that he was granted full immunity. Sanyatwe informed us that Mugabe will continue to enjoy protection as a former head of state," the unnamed source reportedly told the newspaper. Mr Mugabe's 37-year rule, characterised by corruption and oppression, left Zimbabwe with an impoverished population, an unemployment rate of 80 per cent, a virtually worthless currency and crippling debts. His successor, 75-year-old Emmerson Mnangagwa, a long-time Mugabe ally in the ruling Zanu-PF party, was sworn in on Friday promising a new era, despite widespread fears he will offer more of the same. He has urged Zimbabweans not to carry out any type of "vengeful retribution" against the former president and praised the "immense contribution" Mugabe had made to the country. Lagos Police CP Reacts To Badoo Killing; Adopts New Action Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:06 AM PST *'Most killings occur in churches' || *Curfew imposed on Ikorodu To stem the Badoo menace, the police has barred churches and mosques in Ikorodu and environs from holding vigil without tight security. Acting Lagos State Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal warned that he would arrest and charge with murder any pastor in whose church ritualists kill worshippers during vigil. He spoke at a stakeholders' meeting on how to ensure peace in Ikorodu hours before Badoo struck, killing a pastor and wounding his family members. "Henceforth, no pastor should organise a vigil in Ikorodu without adequate security arrangement. Do not organise any vigil if you cannot protect the lives of the people who attend," the police chief said. Majority of the ritual killings, he said, took place on the church premises, adding that in most cases, the pastors would have concluded their prayers and left before the murderers would attack vulnerable women and children. The meeting, which was held at the palace of the Ikorodu monarch, Oba Abdulrasheed Shotobi, started around 10:30pm on Saturday and ended around 1am yesterday. It followed resumed Badoo killings. According to Edgal, the police were soliciting for the collaboration of all interest groups in Ikorodu to bring the gang to book. He said: "All churches and mosques should not have vigil in isolated locations and pastors leave them to go home and they attack the women and children. "If you must have night vigils, you must put in place, structures to protect your worshippers. If I hear that anybody is murdered in any church or mosque, I will arrest the pastor or the Imam and charge them to court for murder "Three-quarter of the cases we have had in Ikorodu is related to relatives of a church member or pastor. They either occurred in the church premises or a building housing a church. We must protect the women and children." Decrying the bail granted five out of seven suspected key members of the ritual gang by the court last week, Edgal expressed worries that the suspects could wreak havoc if checks were not put in place. To achieve that, Edgal announced curfew between 1am and 4am across the district, urging the traditional rulers to prevail on his chiefs and youth to commence patrols and ignite burn fires to ward off the killers. He said: "I thank you all because the town is peaceful today. We achieved that peace because you partnered with us. But I have come with good news and bad news. The good news is that crime rate in Ikorodu is very low and my officers here are happy with the corporation they have received. "The bad news is that out of the seven principal suspects charged to court in connection with the ritual killings, five of them have been granted bail by the court and they have gone underground. "Recently a case of murder at Agbowa that resembles their style of ritual murder was recorded. Investigation had gone to advance stage and details would be given. "We are tracking the five major suspects and I can assure you that we would get them soon. With their release, there is need for vigilance. We must immediately restore all security measures put in place that chased all hoodlums and criminals away from Ikorodu. "This period of peace had made us relax and so, we have to wake up again because there is a possibility of those freed hoodlums to unite and trouble the peace in Ikorodu. We must not be taken for granted. It is time we began to enforce security strategies. "Communities should set a particular time for search. These crimes usually happen between 1am and 4am. Any person moving around between those times must have a good reason. "Vigilante groups should be strengthened and given mandate to question people moving around by that time. Anyone without a good reason should be arrested and handed over to security agents. I will not tolerate jungle justice. "We have reached towards the end of the year and at this time, there are people who haven't worked throughout the year but want to enjoy Christmas and New Year. "They are the ones that take to crime. We must not allow them succeed in Ikorodu. You have my authority to come out and organise yourselves into street groups to patrol your neighbourhoods. I expect to see burn fires at inner neighbourhoods so that people know we are alert." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Good Nigerian Pays for Lady Detained With Her New Baby for Four Months Posted: 27 Nov 2017 01:06 AM PST A good Nigerian has settled the bill of a 21-year-old woman, Blessing Agbo, and her newborn baby boy, who were detained in a Lagos hospital for four months over a medical bill. The man, who wanted to be anonymous, also gave her N50,000 for baby food and clothes. This is just as the management of the hospital, God Cures Hospital, appealed to Nigerians to stop calling at the facility to pay for the bill. Blessing Agbo went into labour sometime in June while her live-in lover, Chibugo Duru, a truck driver, travelled to Calabar, Cross River State, on a business trip. The Punch gathered that after the report, a good man contacted the hospital and paid the bill through an aide. A top official of God Cures Hospital, who asked not to be named, said the man paid into the hospital's account. He said, "The man called through his aide. I was told he is a politician based in Abuja. We also had to give him some discounts. After paying the bill, he gave the woman and her baby the sum of N50,000. He said he wanted to be anonymous. But since then, we have had some other people coming to the hospital and offering to settle the bill. I think it is important you help us tell people to stop offering to pay the bill. I have personally received up to three calls on this case already." Agbo, who also confirmed the development. She said she had returned home with the baby. Her lover, Duru, said, "She was discharged on Friday morning. We are in the house together now; both mother and child are fine. Thank you for the assistance." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
