Wife denies husband, calls him serial criminal,he calls her a prostitute | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 04:24 AM PDT

"My husband is a criminal, a serial pickpocket; I did not know I am married to a thief," divorce-seeking woman tells an Ibadan Customary Court.

Mary, who is married to an Ibadan-based businessman, Mr Ibrahim Gbadamosi, said he was deceived into marrying him for about 20 years unknown to her that the man is a criminal.

"Neither Ibrahim nor his friends told me that he was a criminal until he was jailed at Ile-Oluji in Ondo State.
"There was a time I sold some of my property to secure his bail until I got to know that he was a serial pickpocket.
"My Lord, Ibrahim is yet to pay my bride price," she also told the court.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gbadamosi had approached a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan seeking the dissolution of the union, accused her of infidelity and attempting to kidnap him being masterminded by his wife.

Marry added:"My husband is a thief and not a businessman as he claimed.
"My Lord, although, I have agreed to part ways with Ibrahim, I must reveal some `hidden truths' about this man that calls himself a businessman.
"I never knew what he was doing for a very long time and I became very uncomfortable with his lifestyle.
"All I knew was that security operatives used to come and arrest him and his friends used to run from one place to another to gather money for his release."

The estranged wife, who said she would not object to the request of her husband for the dissolution of the marriage, described it as good riddance to bad rubbish.

"He doesn't worth it; let him go," Mary said.

Earlier, Ibrahim, who resides at Soka area of Ibadan, told the court that his wife let him down in his time of "trouble and persecution".

He regretted that his wife's situation degenerated to the extent of her becoming a prostitute.

"This hit me like a big stick. I can confirm to this honourable court that our landlord's younger brother impregnated her and had been sleeping with her ever since.
"Moreover, Mary usually lunch attacks on me with the intention of inflicting bodily injuries or even terminating my life.
"As if that was not enough, Mary and our first child conspired to kidnap my child given birth to by my second wife.
"The matter was reported at the police station where they were both made to sign an undertaking never to involve in kidnapping again," he said.

Ibrahim, who said he was incarcerated for 16 months for importing contraband, alleged that Mary did not visit his shop, thereby allowing all the goods to rust.

"Please, this honourable court should allow her daughter to be with her. I am ready to give her anything she wants on a monthly basis to cater for her."

The President of the court, Mr Ademola Odunade, while adjourning the case to Nov. 28, asked the couple to continue to be of good behaviour.

Lady who Graduated from School where Men Pay N5k for S*x Shares Her Experience

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 03:15 AM PDT

Following an investigative report by The Cable on allegations of pimping and s*xual harassment at the federal government girls college, Langtang, Plateau state, a former student of the school, Timbyen Amos Dashe, has taken to social media to share her experience with a teacher when she was 15.

Read the unedited details she shared...

"I would be focusing on this alone and not on the "deplorable" conditions of the school that was depicted, many have argued that the infrastructure is better than portrayed, but again, I am not focusing on that and also not on if there is corruption in the school system aimed at diverting funds.

I would however speak on what I do know and I choose to do this here because it might be views many won't agree with.

I graduated from fggc langtang in July 2009, I left the school a few days after my 16th birthday.
I had made friends over the years and cried because I was going to loose them again.

FGGC langtang taught me independence.
Taught me survivalist skills.
There I learnt to find my voice.
To speak of what I believed in.
I learnt to be a bright star.
I learnt to make and not marr.

But there I also learnt that there were wolves amongst us, those with the responsibility to teach had taken up the form of the devourer.

We heard so many rumors about the fraternization of male teachers and students, but it was always just a rumor.

Not until finally, I got a taste of that which was rumored, a teacher out rightly hit on then 15 year old me, and in his words said "come and give me some Tlc" …….. That was s*xual harassment ! I am not looking to you for a definition. I am only here to say that from my experience, I know better than to dismiss this completely.

It took me a while to know what TLC meant, but I understood the context almost immediately, for this was not my first dance with his kind after all.

There are many schools in Nigeria and within Africa with these same Stories, fggc Langtang has been picked to expose the rot, and rather than seeing this as a ploy to tarnish the image of my Alma mater, I would lend my voice to truth and support that if indeed students are being pimped, it should be investigated with the aim to expose and correct rather than that which would intend to cover it all up and save face.

Dear Flogites,
some weeks back some of you walked for the girl child, fate has dealt you this blow, are you going to keep shouting foul or would you take this opportunity to rebuild that which has been torn down? And in the process correct whatever information was misrepresented in that article?

Your denial can no longer hurt you as much as it would the girl you leave unprotected.

If you are not 100% sure the story isn't true, please close your mouth as you gather the facts.

Deeply pained. TAD.

P.S.
It is worthy to note that I am a Tarok girl from langtang North where the school is located. I stand to gain nothing if the image of the school or my local government is tarnished. I stand to lose more.

Waiting For Nigeria's 2019 Politicians

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 03:15 AM PDT

For the country to progress, the incoming political leaders will need to tackle the following areas...

Water supply should be a major priority concern for the government. During the 70s and 80's, water was running freely in the cities unlike today. The "pure water" companies have been taken by a few citizens and government agencies have boreholes serving them.

Electricity is poor.

It was estimated we needed 10,000 megawatts in the 70s to solve our energy needs. Today, we have 7,000 megawatts when the population has tripled!

In the area of transport, railway was abandoned in the last 40 years in favour of roads which are not maintained. Luckily, the present government is emphasising the railways.

For progress to be achieved, the fight against corruption must be vigorously pursued so that looting of the treasury is prevented and stolen money is recovered.

How Woman, Her Husband, Others Receive N300m Salaries As "Ghost Workers"

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:45 AM PDT

The EFCC has arraigned a couple, Mr. Olaolu Dada and Mrs. Florence Dada, one Blessing Ejeh and 6 other civil servants for allegedly receiving over N300m in salaries from the Federal Government through the notorious ghost worker fraud.

The civil servants – Osuntope Opeyemi, Aderibigbe Taiwo, Usman Dayo, Johnson Adedokun, Oyebade Ayodeji and Ojeifo Sylvanus – are Federal Government employees in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The EFCC told Justice Peter Kekemeke that the civil servants allegedly diverted millions of naira by creating fictitious names and accounts in the federal payroll system between 2009 and 2016.

It was alleged that Mr. and Mrs. Dada and Ejeh submitted their account details to the civil servants who in turn added them to the government's payroll through which over N11m was siphoned.

It was learnt that the bubble burst when the Presidential Initiative on Continuous Auditing discovered that one of the civil servants allegedly operated 200 fictitious accounts with one Bank Verification Number.

About 50 houses were also traced to another civil servant when the case was referred to the EFCC.

The accused persons all pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

The counsel for Mr. and Mrs. Dada, Darlington Ozurumba, told the court that his clients had applied for plea bargain with the prosecution which would include the return of some funds.

Prosecution counsel, Mukhtar Mohammed, asked the court to remand the suspects in prison custody pending the commencement of trial.

Justice Kekemeke granted the prayers of the EFCC and adjourned the case till November 8 to hear their bail applications. The judge ordered that they remain in prison.

The couple too are cooling off in prison? Fast money wahala!

Did You Know? New SGF Boss Mustapha Investigated Buhari on Obasanjo's Order

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:45 AM PDT

Here's how The Cable chronicled his profile...
The secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, is Boss Gida Mustapha. That you know already. But what you probably didn't know is that he was appointed in 2000 by President Olusegun Obasanjo to probe Muhammadu Buhari.

Or so it seemed. When Obasanjo was campaigning in 1999, he said he was going to scrap Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF) set up by Sani Abacha — because it was a parallel government.

PTF was established in 1994 after an increase in the fuel prices. The body was allocated N5 on every litre of fuel sold to build or rebuild infrastructure across the country, especially roads, schools, water and medical facilities.

With transition to democracy on the horizon and many believing that Buhari had too much money under his control, Obasanjo said he would abolish PTF. Buhari jumped before he was pushed, resigning abruptly as executive chairman of the extra-ministerial body.

With word going round that Buhari was going to challenge Obasanjo in the 2003 election on the platform of the opposition party — All Peoples Party (APP, later rebranded All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP) — many suspected a political motive when Obasanjo set up the interim management committee to probe the PTF in 2000.

Mustapha was on that committee.

Other members: Haroun Adamu (chairman), Abdu Abdurrahim, Achana Gaius Yaro, Edward Eguavoen, Andrew Adegboro and Baba Goni Machina.

The report of the probe was never made public by Obasanjo.
BABACHIR LAWAL'S 'KITH AND KIN'
In some weird way, Mustapha and his predecessor as SGF, Babachir David Lawal, are so similar it reads like reincarnation.

Mustapha is of the Kilba ethnic stock, like Lawal. He is from Hong local government, Adamawa state, like Lawal. Both men studied at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Both graduated in 1979. While Lawal studied engineering, Mustapha did law.

What's more, Mustapha is a Christian, like Lawal. While Lawal is a theologian, Mustapha is the national vice president of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International, Nigeria.

Many Nigerians will hope that the similarities end there — for Lawal was removed from office over corruption allegations.
ATIKU'S ANTAGONIST
Contrary to the impression that Mustapha is a political ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, TheCable can report that the two men no longer see eye-to-eye. They were political associates at some point, but it did not last.

In fact, Mustapha openly opposed Atiku at the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which produced Buhari as the party's candidate in Lagos in December 2014. Along with Lawal, the sacked SGF, Mustapha worked for Buhari at the primary, one of the reasons Atiku unexpectedly came behind Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the final scores. Buhari came first.

"The appointment, like that of Lawal before him, is a slap on the face on Atiku. You cannot describe Mustapha as Atiku's associate," an APC insider told TheCable, suggesting that this might be an indirect attack on the presidential ambition of the former vice-president, who is also from Adamawa state.

Mustapha and Atiku have had a cat-and-mouse relationship in recent years, TheCable can report, because of the local politics of Adamawa. Mustapha wanted to contest for governorship in 2015 but Atiku did not support him, leading to a break in their ranks.
A POLITICAL VETERAN
Mustapha has been in politics for nearly three decades, but the latest appointment is yet the biggest in his career. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly, the body that drafted the 1989 constitution that was partially used in running the third republic.

In 1989, he went fully into partisan politics. He was the state chairman of the Peoples Solidarity Party (PSP), one of the associations that sought registration as political parties in the third republic. PSP was led by Olu Falae, former minister of finance and secretary to the military government.

Atiku was in the People's Front (PF) under the leadership of Shehu Musa Yar'Adua, the retired major general who was deputy to Olusegun Obasanjo as military head of state from 1976 to 1979. PF was made up of prominent young politicians at the time — Babagana Kingibe, Farouk Abdulazeez, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, Ango Abdullahi, Ahmadu Rufa'i, Yahaya Kwande, Babalola Borishade and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

With the military government failing to register any of the political associations because they failed its "litmus test", PF later merged with PSP and Nigerian Labour Party (NLP) to collapse into the Social Democratic Party (SDP), one of the two parties formed in 1989 by the Ibrahim Babangida administration to create a "new order". The second was the National Republican Convention (NRC).

Mustapha was Adamawa state chairman of the SDP from 1990 to 1991, and then ran for governorship of the state in 1991 and lost to NRC's Saleh Michika. Not much was known of his political career after the collapse of the third republic. He was better known in the legal circles, but he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998.
'WHEN WE WERE FRIENDS'
As Atiku fell out of favour with Obasanjo and could not pursue his presidential ambition on the platform of PDP, he and his associates left the party for the Action Congress in 2006. One of them was Mustapha. He was the deputy director-general of the Atiku's presidential campaign organisation in 2007, although the bid failed.

However, their association came to an end in 2010 when Atiku returned to the PDP. Mustapha remained behind in AC (later renamed Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN), and became the deputy national chairman. He served in that position till 2013 when ACN teamed up with other parties to form APC.

Mustapha served in the APC presidential campaign organisation in the historic 2015 election and was a member of the APC transition committee. He is currently a member of the APC board of trustees.
MARRIED TO A YORUBA WOMAN
Mustapha is one of those Nigerians with a heritage of cross-cultural marriage. In southern Nigeria, it is not uncommon these days, but north-south handshake is still a scarce commodity.

The new SGF is married to Funmilayo, a Yoruba woman. They have children.

He enjoys golf, lawn tennis, travelling, documentary films, charity work and meeting people, according to his profile on the website of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), of which he was appointed managing director by Buhari in 2016.
To NIWA staff, he was quoted as saying: "Just call me Boss, there is no need calling me Manager. I don't have nicknames."

OluFamous.Com gathered that Mustapha told staff in the presidency to address him simply as 'Boss'.

OAU female student who 'committed suicide' was murdered?... brother speaks

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:45 AM PDT

Timothy Afolaranmi, the brother of a late undergraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, Mercy Afolaranmi, has faulted reports that his sister committed suicide.

Timothy claimed that 16-year-old Mercy was a devout Christian who would never take her own life, and added that his sister was murdered.

The 100 level student of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, allegedly took rat poison last Thursday in her apartment after she had E in CHM 101, a compulsory course.

She was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the area where she was confirmed dead.

A check on the victim's social media page showed that the Ekiti State indigene was religious.

An image she shared on her Facebook page on October 10 with a pre-written text said, "If the trumpet sounds today, where will you be? If you die without Christ, you will regret it. Jesus is coming soon, repent now. Revelation 22:12…."

Mercy, while sharing the post, wrote, "Above all other things, I just wannasee God, see what he looks like, speak with him face to face. I don't wannamiss heaven. LORD HELP ME."

The Punch observed that for more than two weeks after she made the post, nobody commented on it.

However, since her death became public knowledge, hundreds of friends, family members and sympathisers had flooded the post with comments.

Her brother, Timothy, in his comment, noted that the post showed how deeply religious his sister was, adding that she couldn't have committed suicide over her poor exam grade as being speculated.

The brother has therefore asked security agencies to quiz her roommate with whom he claimed she had a disagreement before her death.

He said, "This girl (Mercy) made liquid soap for sales; she did that on Tuesday. She knew how acidic the constituents of soap is, she could have killed herself with that. Why stressing herself to the extent of getting batteries and rat killers? She was due to have a seminar presentation in Ekiti on Thursday or so…she had her presentation all jotted out; why will she disturb herself and write out her presentation when she knew she wanted to die?

"If a suicide is committed, it's a painful death and it's self inflicted. Why will her room be scattered and her vomit scattered around the room? She could have just vomited at a place, endure the pain and give up the ghost. She had a roommate. They had issues this semester. Recently, they weren't cooking together, which showed they had differences between them. She (the roommate) was the one who held her phone all through Wednesday. Why? She wouldn't allow anyone to speak to her all through Wednesday, saying she's busy resting, why?

"She's a devoted Christian… She went to her pastor on Sunday and raised three questions. One on evangelism, the second, I don't remember, and the last was how to manage a relationship between two female friends. Why? It was because of the issues between her and her roommate.

"I'm her brother. I know her more than anyone else. I seldom visit her in school. She had not always been the best in her class, so she knew life is a competition. She understood well that life is not about school results, because she had good examples from her brother and sister. She knew the money we gave her was not from school results, but from societal intelligence."

Timothy said although the family had accepted its fate, he believed she was killed.

Osun State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye, said the command was investigating the case.

Trump vows to cancel US Green card Lottery | Mr Olumide's Blog

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would end the popular US green card lottery as police said a radicalised Uzbek man staged the deadly truck ramming in New York after entering the country under the programme.

The move could spell the end to the US immigration hopes of millions of people around the world who have tried to win US residence permits through the program since it was created 27 years ago.

"I am starting the process of terminating the diversity lottery program," Trump angrily told reporters.
"We have to do what's right to protect our citizens," he said. "We will get rid of this lottery program as soon as possible."

The programme awards US permanent resident visas to around 50,000 applicants from around the world each year, opening the door as well for members of their broader families to follow them, so-called chain migration.

Mugabe wants hanging of criminals restored | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:39 AM PDT

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe says he wants the country to start hanging criminals again, 12 years after it stopped it.

The Zimbabwean leader said on Wednesday in Harare that
"in spite of having a system of capital punishment, with more than 90 inmates currently on death row, no executions have been carried out since 2005.

"And the country does not even have a working hangman.
"I have always supported death penalty but Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa says it's a bad thing."If you see the resumption of executions, you should know that my idea has prevailed."

The 93-year-old president's remarks were a thinly veiled dig at Mnangagwa, seen as possible successor to the longtime leader, though Mugabe was said to favour his wife, Grace, for the position.

Mnangagwa, who until recently doubled as Minister of Justice, had been campaigning for the abolishment of death penalty.

He was once on death row under the Rhodesian regime for fighting in Zimbabwe's liberation struggle.

Ikoyi Billions: EFCC Goes After Ex-NIA DG & His Wife

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:15 AM PDT

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the sacked Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ayodele Oke, his wife, Mrs. Folashade Oke and others implicated in the $43.45million recovered at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The others were unnamed. Sources close to Oke told The Nation last night that the ex-NIA DG was yet to receive the letter from the EFCC.

A statement by the EFCC, however, said the invitation of the former NIA DG and others was part of the resumption of the investigation of the cash haul.

The statement said: "In furtherance of its investigative activities to unravel the circumstances surrounding the $43.45 million cash recovered by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Lagos sometime in April 2017, the Commission has invited former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayodele Oke and his wife, Folashade Oke.

"Mrs. Oke had refused to honour previous invitations by the commission which resumed its investigation into the matter, following the Federal Government's decision to relieve Mr. Oke of his position as DG.

"Besides the couple, other suspects are equally being invited to determine their culpability or otherwise in the humongous cash, in foreign currencies and naira notes, stashed in a residential building at Osborne Road Ikoyi, Lagos."

Recall that Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos, had on June 6, 2017, granted a final forfeiture order of the funds since no one appeared before the court to claim them.

Don’t Intimidate HoS Madam Oyo-Ita; groups warn Presidency

Posted: 02 Nov 2017 02:15 AM PDT

The saga created by the return and secret reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina is getting heated by the day. Groups and individuals have warned the Federal Government against any move to intimidate the Head of Service, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita over the leaked memo.

Speaking on the issue, the convener of Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Dr Junaid Mohammed, said the "verbal tirade" against Oyo-Ita by the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, was obviously an attempt to intimidate and silence her.

He said, "This shameless act by the Chief of Staff clearly shows you how desperate this administration can get. Most of the questions we as Nigerians have been asking about what Mr. President knows about this whole Maina saga have been answered by this leaked memo.

"We have been asking what does Mr. President know about this whole thing and when was it brought to his attention? Unless he comes clean, no attempt by a chief of staff to intimidate a thorough bred career civil servant whose record of performance he can never match can wash this administration clean of this crime against the Nigerian people.

"If anybody feels strongly about what she said in her reply to the query issued to her such a person should produce a superior counter-argument instead of trying to intimidate her into silence. Nigerians are watching. This woman was queried, she merely replied, what tells you that it was not members of the cabal that leaked the document to make her look bad?"

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights has also flayed Kyari for attacking Oyo-Ita, saying it was an embarrassment to the Buhari administration.

The groups President, Malachy Ugwummadu, said, "The Maina issue has become very scandalising and embarrassing. It is not unexpected. Some of us have repeatedly expressed our resentment over the poor coordination of the entire affairs of this government.

"The height of that resentment was the show of shame that characterised the altercation and near fisticuffs of the Chief of Staff and the Head of Service. I think the President at this point needs to address the drift."

On his part, the Director, Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, Debo Adeniran,  said;
"What happened between Abba Kyari and Oyo-Ita was a private discussion which we should not worry about, except Kyari was seen to be an interloper in matters which concern the President."

Nigerian scholars abroad owed N2.4b, Saraki intervenes | Mr Olumide's Blog

The Director in charge of Scholarship at the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) said N2.4 Billion is owed Nigerian scholars abroad by the Board due to inadequate or lack of budgetary provisions.

Ahmad made the disclosure at a special meeting held between the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for the welfare of Nigerian Students on scholarships abroad.

The students are now stranded due to non-payment of their living allowances and tuition fees by relevant government agencies.

The Senate in plenary had mandated the President of the Senate to intervene and know why Nigerian students on scholarships in foreign countries are yet to be paid their scholarship funds.

Saraki at the meeting on Wednesday which was attended by the Senate Leader, Deputy Senate Leader, Chairman Senate Committees on Tertiary Education and TETFUND and other Senators directed the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) to urgently present a comprehensive report of all Nigerian students on scholarship abroad and their outstanding entitlements to the relevant committees of the Senate to enable the Senate make Appropriations for their settlement.

Cardi B has just shown us a new way to straighten hair, by using a clothes iron...

In a series of videos on her Instagram story, Cardi said"So I need to f***ing flat iron my hair, but I don't have a flat iron, so we just gonna use this," she said as her makeup artist Jazzmin Jordan ran the iron against the lengthy locks of Cardi's wig.

It appeared to work very well.
