Police Busted Indian Hemp Worth N20m In Lagos

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 02:58 AM PDT

Criminals are having a hard time. The Police Command in Lagos has recovered 38 bags of Indian hemp worth over N20m during a big raid on suspected hideouts in the Itire area of Mushin.

The Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said 52 suspects were arrested during the raid which was precedented by reports of a clash over a lady in the area where several cars were vandalised.

"In line with my avowed policing plan which is based on community policing, residents of the area were invited and based on the partnership we had built over time, they confirmed the incident and gave information on their hideouts.

"Based on the information gathered that the hoodlums had been terrorising the neighbourhood, I ordered an overnight raid during which 44 male and 8 female suspects were arrested with 38 bags of Indian hemp.

"They were also caught with other hard drugs which are very expensive and can not be less than N20m. The drugs are usually packaged and called Bible and so, whenever members of the public see anything like this, they should know it is hard drugs and not a Bible.

"Members of the public should also be vigilant so that these drugs are not sold to your children as you know the effect of drugs on the human body system.

"I have also observed the strong connection between drugs and crime and therefore established partnership with other security agencies especially the NDLEA to fight drug-related crimes.

"I appreciate members of the public for their support and assure them that such raids on criminal hideouts in the state will continue," he said.

Read Profile of Aishah, the woman Buhari appointed as new CBN Deputy Governor

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 02:33 AM PDT

Here's the rich profile of Aisha Ahmad who was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the new Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.

Aishah Ahmad is so young you would have to conclude she is the youngest person to be so appointed to that position — and she is so experienced you cannot but admire her resume.

In the last 20 years, she has been a banking executive and an investment adviser across retail banking, wealth management, consulting and financial advisory.

According to The Cable, until now the executive director (retail banking) at Diamond Bank Plc, 40-year-old Ahmad (she will be 41 on October 26) comes to the CBN job with a rich history of promoting the role of women in the society, even though she will be the first to tell you that she has never been that conscious about the glass ceiling for the female gender.

She is the chairperson of the executive council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), a Nigerian non-profit organisation founded in 2001 by 13 women and one man who identified a serious issue concerning women in the workplace and in business, particularly in the areas of leadership capacity building and avenues for networking for growth.

She will be a like-for-like replacement for Sarah Alade, PhD, who retired from CBN as deputy governor (economic policy) in March 2017. Alade is from the north-central (Kwara), same zone as Ahmad who hails from Niger state.

Ahmad shares birthday with Hillary Clinton — who inspires her
Asked by a newspaper in 2016 on the women who inspired her, she named quite a few but pointed out Hillary Clinton, the former US first lady who made an unsuccessful bid to become US president.

She said: "Hillary Clinton who happens to be my 'birthday mate' has been a strong influencer over the years. I admire her ability to stay focused on making an impact and my admiration for her has only been validated by her recent nomination as the US Democratic presidential candidate."

The mother of two teenage sons also celebrated the founding trustees of WIMBIZ who have "also been a positive influence in their many accomplishments across private and public sector".

At every turn, she said, they have distinguished themselves as women of repute and deep impact including founding WIMBIZ "as their contribution to advancing the cause of women everywhere".

A rich resume
Ahmad, whose husband is Abdallah A. Ahmad, a retired brigadier-general, has worked at local and global institutions, including NAL Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc (a member of Standard Bank Group) and Zenith Bank Plc.

She is currently responsible for the consumer Banking Division at Diamond Bank Plc comprising consumer banking group, privilege banking group, retail assets group and bancassurance, where she is accountable for a customer base of over seven million.

Ahmad is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Associations – globally recognised programmes for investment analysts and portfolio managers.

She holds an MSc in finance and management from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK, an MBA with a specialisation in finance from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and a graduate degree in accounting from the University of Abuja, Nigeria.

From a family of 'accomplished women'
She comes from a long line of very accomplished women within my family who have distinguished themselves across sectors – medicine, pharmacy, accounting and business.

"I was lucky to have very early positive and visible role models of women working outside the home and making a big difference in their careers. One of my grandmothers created a distinguished career in the nursing field being one of the early recipients of an international education and I have many aunties who are doing great things in their various businesses and careers," she told The Guardian in the interview.

"I must credit my mother for inspiring my strong work ethic – she's been successful at diverse careers in pharmacology, accounting and as a business woman including managing a family."

She served as a steering committee member for Cherie Blair Foundation's Technology for Growth project, a learning intervention programme for female entrepreneurs developed in conjunction with Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) at Lagos Business School.

Drugs Found Inside Tubers of Yam to be Delivered Abroad

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 01:58 AM PDT

This is serious. A man was left shell-shocked after he discovered hard drugs inside tubers of yam he was given to deliver to someone abroad. In a video footage posted on Facebook, the man from Edo state, who revealed that the drugs were inserted in the tubers of yam and covered with sand, said that they were given to him to give someone who "needed them badly" abroad.

But he decided to clean the sand off the tubers before packaging them, not knowing what was inside.

According to him, as he was cleaning the first tuber, water started coming out. When he looked closely, he saw a needle inside and as he drew the needle, lo and behold, he saw hard drugs in the yam.

This to warn people to always check whatever they are given to deliver to someone while traveling.

I was condemned and lost when I got pregnant at 19 - Nigerian relationship coach shares her story | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 01:45 AM PDT

Canada based Nigerian relationship coach Abiola Makanjuola, has shared her inspiring story with the world.
Biola, revealed how she got pregnant at 19 and had to leave her baby's daddy at 23 due to their toxic relationship.

Read her story below:

"Got pregnant at the age of 19, was zero'd out, condemned, alone and lost
Became a mother & thought it best to make it official with my son's dad at the age of 20
Got into unhealthy patterns in our relationship that led to emotional abuse and toxicity for the most part. Finally got the courage to separate at the age of 23 after going through an abortion and Sexually Transmitted Disease.
This started my downward spiral into involving myself in multiple toxic relationships between the ages of 24 – 27
Confused, lost, dark, toxic relationships was my drug of choice. Felt unworthy, self-esteem dragging on the floor begging to be picked up, had little or no confidence, gave up my power to define who I was to other people because I just hated the woman I had become. I constantly questioned why I was so different and abnormal.
My body defined my worth. I clearly had nothing to offer. My single motherhood didn't even help. They said I couldn't do any better because of my baggage. I agreed with them and gave them my power. It was their word over mine.
Finally got tired of engaging in this toxic cycle and decided to embrace my difference. At this point, I was tired! I was sick! I was done! I found my light towards the end of 2016.
Found the love I had been seeking the whole time in myself. Things started clicking. I found my purpose. I realized I had a story to tell and was determined to share. I was worthy and enough the whole time and didn't even know it. I finally found my voice and I promised myself to speak my truth.
I promised God that if he took me out of my misery and showed me the way, I will spend the rest of my life serving.
Currently serving and growing a tribe of women who believe in their power to create their stories and would do anything to make it happen."

9 Questions to Ask before You Decide He/She is 'The One'

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 01:43 AM PDT

Choosing "The One" is an outrageously important decision. "The one" (or your future spouse) is not only your romantic partner in life…but also the mom or dad to your children, your life-long companion, and your partner in all things pertaining to life. The ripple effect of your decision for a spouse is much more far reaching than most people initially suppose.

The only family member we get to choose in life is our spouse.

When we choose the right spouse, our life is multiplied in the most positive way possible...
And on the contrary, people who commit to spouses who are ill-matched for them have unions that seem to create compounded negativity in every area of their life. Needless to say, deciding if your current love interest really is "the one" is not something to do half-heartedly.

So, what are some things to watch out for? How do you know if they are "The One"?

Here are 9 things to consider when determining if they are "The One"…

1. Do you have fun together and are you attracted to each other?
This one should be a no-brainer. When choosing a spouse, you are choosing a friend for life, so you better really enjoy that person's company! Do you laugh together? Have fun together? You should be energized by their presence. Also, it should be obvious, but a key part of any healthy marriage is physical intimacy, so being physically attracted to one another is not a shallow thing. There should be a healthy desire for one another.

2. Are your beliefs and fervor for God the same?
Our belief system is foundational to how we make decisions about every area of life. The Bible talks about being "equally yoked". At the core of marriage is the concept of two becoming one, so in every good marriage there has to be union and "oneness" in what you believe about God. Also, it is not enough to say, "Yes, we both believe in God, and have received Jesus as our Savior. So, we are good"… because it is more than that. There has to be "oneness" in how you both live out your faith and to what degree you want your faith to impact your daily decisions. To be "equally yoked" in this area does not necessarily mean you have equal Biblical knowledge or equal spiritual experiences, but it does mean that you have the same core beliefs and the same fervency about those beliefs and how they affect your living.

3. Is your vision similar?
When you both talk about the future, are your dreams and goals similar? Do your career plans complement each other? Do your family plans sync? Are your attitudes about finances & lifestyle similar? Amos 3:3 says, "Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?" God will set your life in a certain direction and as you walk it out, Mr./Mrs. Right will come along going the same direction as you and at the same pace as you. (Note: it is important have to focus on becoming a "me" before a "we". If you do not know "who you are" or "where you are going", then it is going to be difficult to know if someone is compatible with you.)

4. Is there peace?
Deep in your heart is there peace when you consider the potential of marrying this person? And, when I say "peace", I am not talking about some happy emotion being around this person brings you… I am talking about in your spirit (or your conscious) does it "seem good"? When you search your heart, do you have a "gut feeling" that it is not right? Or are there unanswered questions about his/her integrity or honesty that make you uneasy? … If you answered yes to one of the last two questions, then that should be a red flag that you do not overlook. (Note: it is normal to have a certain degree of hesitation or fear when thinking about the commitment of marriage. However, the lack of peace I am referring to in this point is the "bad gut feeling", a "check in your spirit", or a "red flag in your heart" … these are all things you do not want to ignore.

5. Are family and friends cheering on the relationship?
Loving family members and true friends want what is best for us, so it is important to take into consideration their perspective and thoughts on your relationships. If multiple family members and friends have a "bad feeling" about your relationship, then that should cause you to take a step back and consider their perspective.

6. Is the timing right?
There is a saying that says, "the 'right guy', at the wrong time, is the wrong guy". There really is a lot of truth to that saying too. If the timing of a relationship is not right, then you should not push it. God is all about "in the fullness of time" moments. There will be that right one, at the right time, and it will be worth the wait!

7. Is he/she a good person?
Is your significant other a hard-worker? Selfless? Humble? Generous? Honest? Full of integrity? Eager to grow and learn? It is all of these not-so-sexy characteristics in dating that all the sudden become extremely "sexy" within the context of a marriage. It is these characteristics that become the foundation that communication and trust is built on. Don't compromise on these critical characteristics!

8. Is he/she your biggest fan?
Early on in our marriage, I had the realization that I should be Eric's #1 cheerleader. It was on a drive home from the mall one day in Tulsa that I sensed God speak to my heart, "If you are not praying for Eric, then who is?" I had that "Ah-ha! moment" where I realized the significant role I play in his life to not only pray for him, but also cheer him on, encourage him, and build him up verbally. If your significant other is constantly tearing you down or making sarcastic comments about your abilities – that should be a red flag. (Note: Ladies, it is important to have a boyfriend, and especially spouse, who pulls-out and encourages the gifts within you! Don't settle for someone who will put a lid on what God has planned for your life.)

9. Have you dated long enough?
We all know stories of couples who dated for two weeks, got married, and lived happily-ever-after. In some rare cases, the short dating experience works out, but in most cases it is wise to get to know someone for at least a year before considering marriage. Within the first year of dating someone you are able to see them in lots of different contexts – you can see them with their family, with their friends, in stressful situations, in joyful situations, etc.. Usually around the one year mark the "honeymoon" stage of dating fades because you have had the opportunity to see flaws. It is best to see as many of those "flaws" before marriage as possible.

There are plenty of others things to consider when determining if they are "the one", but these 9 thoughts are a good place to start! Hopefully these 9 thoughts give you some practical areas you can reflect on in your dating relationships. Bottom line, be encouraged, if you desire to be married, then "that one" IS out there! You keep doing your thing. Keep following God. Keep living a life full of love and passion, and when "the one" comes around you will be happy you did not settle for less!
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 NLT

I'm too sexy - 44-year old mum claims looking half her age is stopping her from finding love | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 01:15 AM PDT

A 44-year old mum of four has come out to say looking half her age is a curse than a blessing as it is stopping her from finding love.

Dawn Cousins, who is from London, claims men to include her kids friends all want her attention due to how she looks as she is eve sometimes mistaken for her kids sister.

Daw claims the curse has extended to her office, where she says she often struggles to get work done.

"The thing is I look half my age and I have men drooling over me all the time, aged from 18 to ancient.

"I sometimes wish I didn't look so good, then I might attract the right kind of man I could spend my life with.

"I seem to get the men who are only after looks and not personality; those types are not the kind of person you want to spend your days with.

"Guys over 40 are all putting on weight and the women have got a lot of wrinkles. I haven't got any. I'm not in the same bracket as them.

"I need to find my knight in shining armour - or at least a man who isn't so fat he could fit it."
On moving on from her ex, Dawn said:

"We slowly drifted apart and I was alone again.

"I assumed I would find someone after the heartbreak of splitting up was over, but it never happened.

"Now it is 14 years later and I am starting to panic."

"It is flattering. My daughters have told me I couldn't go clubbing with them though, as I'd get eaten alive.

"If they see a young guy approaching me they'll quickly slip the word 'mum' into the conversation to make it clear who I am, to try and stop any awkward conversations, but it doesn't always happen.

"My daughter's friends even hit on me; some of them try it on with me because they think I'm a sister and some just fancy me.

"If they come onto me I just laugh it off, I don't make a big thing of it. I like younger men but I would draw the line at their mates, it would be too weird.

"Sometimes my daughters will their mates fancy me not them, and that is a bit strange I guess I'm a MILF!"

Nigerian postgraduate student found with drugs worth N3.6b to be jailed in Australia (Photo)

Posted: 06 Oct 2017 12:43 AM PDT

An Australian court will sentence a Nigerian post-graduate student, Jackson Igwebuike on October 25, after he was found guilty of importing methamphetamine worth $10million to Canberra.

The drug, worth N3.6b was imported by Igwebuike to Canberra in ornate golden fish statues in 2015 (October), but security intercepted the drugs and substituted the ice before he collected the parcel.

The drug could have had "calamitous consequences" if sold, federal prosecutors told the court.

Lawyers for the 34 year-old Nigerian, a graduate of University of Benin, agreed he acted as "more than just a mere courier" when he accepted delivery of about 8.47 grams of pure ice before he attempted to board a Murrays bus to Sydney with the drugs in his bag.

An ACT Supreme Court jury found him guilty of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug in August.

Igwebuike was caught in a police sting after Australian Border Force officers intercepted packages destined for Canberra in October 2015.

His trial heard the drugs were discovered when three 20 kilogram statues that arrived in a shipping crate from China were X-rayed by officers at Port Botany on October 8.

Nnamdi Kanu Has No Means Of Livelihood - Nigerian Army | Mr Olumide's Blog

Head Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, has made it known during a press round that everyone supporting  IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, were in a "one-chance vehicle."
In his words:

"There was an allegation that somebody (Kanu) went into hiding. Now, I can't remember the day but in an interview on Channels TV, one of Nnamdi Kanu's younger brothers said that he was in hiding and he knew where he was.

"And one lawyer came up that he has taken the Chief of Army Staff to court. Now, who gave you the brief? You said you do not know where he (Kanu) is. Now, who gave you the brief? And the media is asking us where is Nnamdi Kanu? Why not ask the man that said so who gave him the brief to take people to court when he does not know where the man is?

"…That is why those people following him have entered into a one-chance vehicle. This is somebody standing trial in a criminal case. Sometimes, whether we like it or not, we want to stand against the truth. But no matter how long, the truth will come to pass on October 17. This is an individual without a means of livelihood.

"I can speak eloquently. So what? If I can speak like him; I can also have my own group, that's exactly what is happening. So, what is the essence of our education as a people? You know that somebody is in a criminal case, and you believe in him."
