Medical Doctor Dumps His Wife & Kids After S*x With A ‘Cele’ Church Woman Posted: 10 Oct 2017 03:04 AM PDT When I hear some guys say love-spell and manipulations don't work I just pray that they won't fall into the hands of any woman who's an agent of "the dark kingdom". The consequences are fatal! A mum of two, Mrs. Juliana (surname withheld) lost her medical doctor husband simply known as Diolu after he encountered a Celestial Church lady who eventually had s*x with in Lagos. According to PM Express, the doctor abandoned his wife and two kids and moved to the strange woman's house in an undisclosed location where they now live as husband and wife. The incident happened at Joseph Street area of Ejigbo where Diolu used to live with his family behind a popular hospital before he moved over to his "new" lover's house. It was gathered that trouble started between Diolu and his wife in 2015 when she got information that her husband was having affairs with the woman but had no details until she caught the two of them and rebuked her husband over the illicit affairs. It was said that Juliana later told her husband that he broke her heart, asked to know why he was doing so and the husband replied her that he fell in love with the woman and liked her 'performance'. Juliana persuaded her husband to leave the woman and face his family but he refused. She then reported the illicit affair to his family members who expressed shock over such act, tried to discourage their brother and save his marriage. But it appeared that was what Diolu needed as he scolded Juliana for revealing the issue to his family and that worsened the matter. It was said that Diolu became angry that his wife had to report him and used it as an excuse to abandon her and moved over to the 'Cele' woman's house. The embattled wife has gone to several churches, making prayer points but it appeared things were getting worse as she claimed that her husband had forgotten his family completely and does not ask of his children any longer. Some residents who knew what happened have said that there must be something behind Diolu's decision to abandon his family for the woman. Some said the strange woman might have been controlling him spiritually to the extent that he does not know he has a wife and children any longer. When contacted, Juliana confirmed that a strange woman had snatched her husband. She narrated that she was still shocked and wondered what really attracted her husband to the woman. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Ex-Olympian Etim Bassey Is Broke, Fills Potholes In Lagos Posted: 10 Oct 2017 03:04 AM PDT Life can be so unpredictable if you don't work, pray and plan well. As you read this, the Efik Leadership Foundation (ELF) has begun a funding campaign on 'gofundme' to raise 5,000 Pounds for Cross River born ex-Olympian, Etim 'Ironbar' Bassey. He now fills potholes in Ajah, Lagos, with the hope that good Nigerians will gift him some cash. According to Cross River Watch, the ELF in a promotional statement for the campaign and signed by one Richard Duke, who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees, said the foundation aims at taking Mr. Bassey off the scorching sun and rehabilitate him. "Bassey Ironbar needs our financial support. Bassey Ironbar was part of the famous Weightlifting team that represented Nigeria at the 1984 Olympic Games in 1984. He was in the 110 weight class (Super Heavyweight). "We all remember his fatal attempt at the clean and jerk where he snapped his leg and had to abandon his Olympic dreams and also the hopes of a nation that was looking up to Bassey Ironbar and his team mate Oliver Orok for any medal in that event. "Prior to the 1984 Olympics Games, Bassey had won a Bronze Medal in the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia. "Fast forward to 2017. Life hasn't been too kind to Bassey. He has been busy volunteering from 5.00am to 6.00pm everyday as a Construction Worker on the streets of Ajah in Lagos helping to repair the potholes on the roads and fixing the gutters by himself without any main source of income as shown in a video on YouTube. "We at the Efik Leadership Foundation contacted Bassey Ironbar yesterday 08/10/2017 where he decried his plight. Bassey is our Olympic hero. "We intend to support Bassey to get him back to his feet financially. We intend to raise funds to help pay house-rent for Bassey; procure household items, and to help him with sustainable income with a view to taking up a permanent trade (through skill acquisition training). "We are looking at a 4 to 6 week time frame to raise the funds. "It would mean a lot to all of us Nigerians to get Bassey our ex-Olympian off the streets under the scorching sun and rehabilitate him. Thank you very much for all your anticpated help and support." So far, as at press time, only about 50 Pounds had been donated. Sigh! culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Beautiful Hairdresser Dies In Her Shop After 'Fight' With Local Govt. Officials Posted: 10 Oct 2017 02:39 AM PDT Two revenue collectors from the Akure South area of Ondo State have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for their alleged involvement in the death of a hairdresser, Mrs. Toyin Ijiyemi, in the Oke Aro area of the state. It was gathered that the suspects were hired by the Caretaker Chairman, Mrs. Margret Atere, a few months ago to generate revenue for the council. On the day of the incident, they met the 38-year-old hairdresser in her salon and demanded levy for the television in her shop. An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Punch that for failing to pay the levy, the two council officials decided to take her television away but she prevented them. He said, "As they were dragging the television with her, the woman fell down. The revenue collectors abandoned the hairdresser on the floor and went away with the television." It was gathered that a few minutes after the drama, a neighbour went into the woman's shop and saw her on the floor. She reportedly called other neighbours, who rushed to the scene to revive Ijiyemi. Sadly, she was later confirmed dead. Her remains were deposited in the morgue of the Ondo State Specialists' Hospital Akure. The only child of the deceased, Ayodele Adelanke, and her aged mother, Mrs. Ajike Ijiyemi, appealed to the state government and the police to bring the killers of the hairdresser to book. A senior official in the local government, who did not want her name in print, confirmed that the suspects were the loyalists of the chairman hired to collect revenue for the council. She said, "The suspects were hired by the chairman to collect revenue for the council, but she did not send them to kill anybody. The police had invited her (chairman) over the matter." The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, said, "We have arrested the two suspects and they are in our custody; we are still looking for some others. We don't want to speak much about it, but everybody should rest assure that none of the culprits will be shielded; nobody is above the law. We are working to arrest other suspects." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Patience Jonathan: EFCC has frozen my late mum’s accounts Posted: 10 Oct 2017 02:04 AM PDT Wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan, has filed a fundamental human rights enforcement suit against EFCC, seeking N2bn as compensation for alleged harassment. She alleged in the suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja that the EFCC violated her rights by incessantly harassing her through negative media publications. She alleged that the EFCC was denigrating and degrading her person as corrupt, without any invitation for interrogation, trial or conviction. Mrs. Jonathan cited instances of alleged harassment by EFCC in an affidavit in support of the suit. She said the instances included the invasion of her properties and the freezing of her accounts, those of her siblings, relatives and her late mother, Mama Sisi Charity Oba. The supporting affidavit to the suit deposed to by one of her lawyers, Sammie Somiari, stated, "The investigation into the operations of her pet project, when she was First Lady, is an unprecedented act of animosity against her as none of her projects was funded by the government at any level. "The respondent had physically raided the homes of the applicant and her relatives both in Abuja and Yenagoa. "Recently the respondent raided the home of the applicant's first daughter, both at Port Harcourt and Abuja. "The respondent has waged a psychological war on the applicant by its threats of arrest of the applicant and her relations, such as Mrs. Esther Oba, Tamunotonye Oba and her elder brother, Mr. Aseminaso Nyengierefaka." She alleged that the commission was persecuting her over her "political views" during the campaign for the 2015 presidential election which her husband contested against President Buhari. The matter came up before Justice John Tsoho on Thursday. It was adjourned until November 16. The EFCC is expected to file its response to the suit before then. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Top Nigerians react as NNPC Boss says no role for Kachikwu Posted: 10 Oct 2017 01:34 AM PDT The Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, declared that it was most unfortunate for the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, to assert that he (Kachikwu) was never involved in the recent Crude Oil Term Contracts. Kachikwu, who is the Chairman of the NNPC board, in a leaked memo to President Buhari, alleged that against the rules, Baru awarded major contracts worth $25bn without reviewing or discussing them with him or the corporation's board. NNPC's official reaction below: The Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, faulted the assertions of the minister, adding that his (Kachikwu's) recommendations with respect to Crude Oil Term Contracts were taken by the NNPC management. The NNPC stated that its reaction was in response to Buhari's directive to Baru and his team, mandating them to react to the issues raised in the petition by Kachikwu. Also, on Monday, heavy security was sighted at the headquarters of the corporation with armoured tanks and police patrol vans strategically positioned on roads leading to the national oil firm. In its official response to Kachikwu's allegations, the NNPC stated that it was "important to note from the outset that the law and the rules do not require a review or discussion with the Minister of State or the NNPC board on contractual matters." It added, "What is required is the processing and approval of contracts by the NNPC Tenders Board, the President, in his executive capacity or as Minister of Petroleum, or the Federal Executive Council, as the case may be. "There are therefore situations where all that is required is the approval of the NNPC Tenders Board while, in other cases, based on the threshold, the award must be submitted for presidential approval. Likewise, in some instances it is FEC's approval that is required." NNPC said that the minister exaggerated some of the contract figures he mentioned in his petition. It said, "It should be noted that for both the Crude Term Contract and the Direct Sale and Direct Purchase agreements, there are no specific values attached to each transaction to warrant the values of $10bn and $5bn respectively placed on them in the claim of Dr. Kachikwu. "It is therefore inappropriate to attach arbitrary values to the shortlists with the aim of classifying the transactions as contracts above NNPC Tenders Board limit. They are merely the shortlist of prospective off-takers of crude oil and suppliers of petroleum products under agreed terms." The corporation said the transactions were not required to be presented as contracts to the board of the NNPC and, of course, the monetary value of any crude oil eventually lifted by any of the companies would go into the Federation Account and not to the company. It said, "Furthermore, contrary to the assertion of Dr. Kachikwu that he was never involved in the 2017/2018 contracting process for the Crude Oil Term Contracts, Dr. Kachikwu was in fact expressly consulted by the GMD and his recommendations were taken into account in following through the laid down procedure. Thus, for him to turn around and claim that '…these major contracts were never reviewed or discussed with me…' is most unfortunate to say the least." "In conclusion, due process has been fully followed in the shortlist of the off-takers of the Nigerian crude oil for the current term 2017/2018," the NNPC added. SAN, lawyers disagree on Baru reporting to Buhari A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, faulted the argument by the NNPC that there was no law requiring recourse to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources in the award of contracts. Agbakoba argued that being the Chairman of the NNPC Board, the Minister of State, who supervises the corporation, must be carried along. He said, "It cannot be the position of the law because the Minister of State (for Petroleum Resources) is the Chairman of the Board of the NNPC and the Chairman of the Board of the NNPC, together with the board, plays a corporate governance role. "It is true that the President is the Chairman of the Board of Governors but if the President himself has appointed the Minister of State to be the chairman, then my conclusion is that the President is deemed to have delegated his powers to the Minister of State. "So, the Minister of State is the proper, legally-appointed chairman because that power has been delegated to him by the President, just the same way that when the President was not well, his powers were delegated to the Vice-President. "So, if the Minister of State is the Chairman of the Board, then the basic rules of corporate governance make it clear, without argument, that what the board does is to supervise the activities of the corporation. That is simple Company Law. "So, the GMD is not correct at all; he's not correct." But a Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Jiti Ogunye Ogunye argued that the NNPC was legally correct to exclude the corporation's board in contract awards. Ogunye said under the Public Procurement Act, approval for award of contracts in public parastatals was done at two levels – the parastatal's Tenders Board or the Federal Executive Council – depending on the volume of the contract. He added that what had given room for controversy was that the constitution did not envisage that the President would double as the Minister of Petroleum Resources. Ogunye said, "If the contract exceeds the threshold, the ministerial Tenders Board will process that contract award consideration and send it to the Federal Executive Council for approval. "Now, what the NNPC is saying in the statement they pushed out is that in the NNPC Act, there is no provision of a Minister of State, which is true but it is also not expected that the President would be a minister in addition to being the President." He stated that in view of the peculiar circumstance, the three authorities ought to work in tandem with full disclosure, saying what was playing out underlined the need for cohesion in the Buhari administration. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Davido's 3 Friends Death In One Week; Police Recover Drugs Posted: 10 Oct 2017 01:09 AM PDT The Lagos State Police Command has recovered substances suspected to be hard drugs from a car in which another friend of the hip hop musician, David Adeleke, aka Davido, died. The deceased, Olugbenga Abiodun (DJ Olu) and Chime Amaechi, said to be a crew member of the singer, were found dead on Saturday in a BMW car in a garage on Block B, Banana Island, Lagos. They were both aged 25. DJ Olu was the son of an oil magnate, Dapo Abiodun. The deaths came three days after Davido's friend, Umeike Tagbo, died at a bar in the Lekki area of the state after allegedly taking 10 shots of Tequila. He died on his birthday. While the police awaited autopsy to ascertain the cause of death, Tagbo's girlfriend, Caroline Danjuma, had discarded insinuations that he died of drunkenness. She also alleged that Davido ran away after dumping his corpse at a general hospital on Lagos Island. However, the musician denied the allegation. He condoled with Tagbo's family. As Tagbo's death continued to attract controversy, another friend of Davido, DJ Olu, and his crew member, Amaechi died around 8pm on Saturday. A source, who confided in Punch, said operatives from the Ikoyi Police Division received a distress call that two young men were lying lifeless in a car. "A team raced to the scene. On getting there, the lifeless bodies of two adult males were found in a BMW car, with number plate, KJA 631 AY, at the underground garage of Block B, Banana Island. "After making some enquiries, the victims were identified..." Another source, a lady, said the duo vomited blood from noses and mouths, and a preliminary physical examination suggested that they died of drug overdose. She said, "They were found dead in the car and blood was coming out of their noses and mouths. A doctor was also at the scene. Physical examination of the bodies indicated that the victims must have died of an overdose of substances suspected to be hard drugs. The substances were found in the car." It was learnt that the corpses had been deposited in the Lagos State Teaching Hospital morgue for post-mortem to find the actual cause of death. The Lagos State Acting Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi, confirmed the deaths and the recovery of substances suspected to be drugs from the victims. He, however, said the police would subject the substances to laboratory tests for identification. Imohimi, who spoke with Punch on the telephone said, "They were found dead in the garage. Some substances suspected to be drugs were found in the vehicle. But in any case, autopsies would be carried out to know the cause of death. There were no marks of violence on their bodies. Let the autopsies explain the cause of death. The substances will also be analysed. We need expert opinion and it is being done." Asked of the outcome of autopsy conducted on Tagbo, the CP said, "It will be out soon. Investigation is in top gear." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

3 Reasons Christians Must Engage the World (not run from it) Posted: 10 Oct 2017 12:19 AM PDT Once upon a time, someone, somewhere, started a rumor among Christian church circles that sounded like this: separate from other people. After that, separate more. Then, pull back a little bit further. Rumors are problematic like that. Even if they start from a nugget of truth, (like Paul paraphrasing Isaiah's call to "depart, depart!" 2 Cor 6:17, Isa 52:11), rumors flatten a 3-dimensional message of meaning into a one-dimensional message of…not the same meaning. Scripture don't play that way. Sure, sure, we know that walking (and sometimes running, and sometimes hurling) ourselves away from a bad situation is a good thing to do (Eze 18:31). Paul and Isaiah would have known that too, since at the time that Isaiah was calling for believers to "depart," he was facing a disaster. Believers were breaking up with God and following idols. However, the "depart" part of that equation was cloaked in another long-term assignment from God called: engage. Engage with believers and unbelievers both. Engage with like-minded and unlike-minded. Engage the culture and this current generation (Gal 2:11-13, Jer 29:1-9, Gal 6:10, 1 Corinthians 9:20-22). Why? Because disengaging isn't the same as "departing." Also, engaging allows God to do something we didn't expect. Reason #1 Christians can't quit the real world: It doesn't show loyalty to God. Not like we think. True loyalty to God manifests as loyalty to His creation, not least of which: humans. He doesn't give up on them. He asks us to do the same. Just as He did with Isaiah and Jeremiah, the latter who said, "Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you…for in its welfare you will have welfare." (Jer 29:7) At that time, the nation of Israel represented everybody who believed in Yahweh; a rich faith cultivated through a motley crew of forbearers like Jacob and also those who were not ancestors of Jacob, like Moabite hero Ruth. It wasn't a lineage of blood. It was a lineage of belief. They made up the nation of Israel for one reason: they believed God was who He said He was. Enter Jeremiah and the nation of Israel was in a world of hurt for one reason: they had stopped believing. Kinda. Sometimes they still believed and then again not and sometimes they threw in faux gods for good measure. They were a mess. Meanwhile, bad-guy kings were capturing them, yanking them out of their homes and transplanting them to far away non-believing lands. That's where God lobbed it on them. Engage. "Build houses and live in them...multiply there and do not decrease. Seek the welfare of the city…and pray to the Lord on its behalf…" (Jer 29:5-8) Famous Bible favorite, Daniel, lived out this idea by taking Jeremiah's words to heart. He learned the stuff of the city and joined their ranks (Dan 1:20, Dan 5:29). He negotiated one step at a time to stay true to God, even while deeply engaging the culture around him (Dan 1:8, Dan 6:4). That, my friends, was not easy! Engaging sounds beautiful, but let's get real here. Can I be honest? I pray my 14-year-old daughter engagingly believes, but I pray too that that girl engagingly behaves. At 14, life gets real and I'm not afraid to erect a fortress of only-think-like-me people around her. But, in a world where we Christians are reminding the culture that they cannot rewrite Scripture to fit their whims, neither can I. God's directive is that the church protect and build a loyalty to Him even while engaging the world, otherwise we miss growing into the selves that God calls us to be – which brings us to reason #2. Reason #2: We need them. The unbelievers. The not-like-us. "…In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them." (Gen 1:27) They bear an image of God and if God's church heads for the hills, we'll miss it. Elijah got this, but not at first. He headed for the hills. Literally. (1 Kings 19:3) But God told Elijah to stop crying about being the only believer left in all the land, and told him that God still had plans and recommended unbelieving pagan King Hazael to Elijah's attention because that guy could help. Abraham understood this concept too, like when God made it clear to Abraham that selling Sarah like his sister was a problem and enlisted the help of unbelieving Pharaoh to get Abraham out of it. Then, three pages later, God enlisted the help of unbelieving Abimelech when Abraham decided to sell Sarah like his sister again. In order to do what God wants done, we need everybody, believers and unbelievers both. That sounds nuanced. That sounds precise and agile at the same time. Mainly, that sounds like a lot of work to figure out, especially for someone like me who is looking for one-dimensional answers because I'm fearful and overwhelmed and would've definitely written this script another, safer way. Reason #3: The real world is not "out there". The real world is us. We tend to forget that we are our own biggest hurdle to overcome. We play a recurring toddler tune of, "I do it myself! I do it my way!" It's what got Adam and Eve so fixated on a piece of fruit after God introduced all the garden's wondrous wonderful then threw in a "P.S., Don't touch that one thing over there." After which, that's all we want. That stupid piece of fruit is all we see. We are four year-olds in search of a loophole on how we can boss with abandon. Even though being left to run our lives on our own is the saddest thing, really. We need God so much. We need all of Him. He reports in Scripture that we see Him in each other. True, also in the Word. True, also in our personal experience a la the Holy Spirit. True, also with clear boundaries and running away from revelry. True, we need all that truth to buttress the not-Him happening all around us. We especially need truth to buttress the not-Him we nourish within ourselves, which is really what Paul was paraphrasing from Isaiah with his, "Depart, depart!" God was calling Isaiah's crew to depart from…themselves. "Return to me," He said. Over and over and over. Depart from yourself and return to the Creator who knows you most, wants you most, loves you most (Zechariah 1:3, Malachi 3:7,Hos 14:1-2). He wishes we would. 21,780 Kaduna teachers fail primary four exam | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 10 Oct 2017 12:09 AM PDT About 21,780 out of 33,000 teachers failed the primary four test administered to test their competence by the Kaduna State government. The state is therefore shopping for 25,000 new teachers as one of the plans to restore dignity and quality to education. Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State unveiled the planned recruitment when he received a World Bank's delegation in Kaduna on Monday. "We tested our 33,000 primary school teachers, we gave them primary four examination and required they must get at least 75 per cent but I am sad to announce that 66 per cent of them failed to get the requirements. "The hiring of teachers in the past was politicized and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state," the governor said. He stressed that teachers would be redeployed across the state to balance the issue of teacher-pupil ratio. "We have a challenge with the teacher-pupil ratio in the urban schools; there is concentration of teachers that are not needed. ''In some local government areas, it's a teacher pupil ratio of 1-9 while in some places it's 1-100," he said. The governor said that in a bid to improve the education sector, the school Directors decided to enrol their children in public schools starting from this academic session. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Ways To Prevent Monkeypox... as disease spreads to 7 states Posted: 10 Oct 2017 12:04 AM PDT The National Centre for Disease Control, Abuja, has said that 31 cases of the monkeypox virus have been recorded in seven states. The affected states are Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Lagos. Monkeypox is a rare a viral zoonotic disease that occurs primarily in remote parts of Central and West Africa, near tropical rain forests. Its symptoms are very similar to that of smallpox. The NCDC National Coordinator, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, in a statement on Monday said the agency was awaiting the laboratory results and confirmation of the 31 suspected cases. Ihekweazu said, "Samples have been collected from each suspected case for laboratory confirmation. Results are still awaited. So far, there have been no deaths recorded." Monkey pox virus occurs when a person comes into contact with the virus from an animal, human, or materials contaminated with the virus. The virus enters the body through broken skin (even if not visible), respiratory tract or the mucous membranes (eyes, nose, or mouth). Other human-to-human methods of transmission include direct contact with body fluids or lesion material, and indirect contact with lesion material, such as through contaminated clothing or linens. Prevention There are measures that can be taken to prevent infection with monkey pox virus: Avoid contact with animals that could harbour the virus (including animals that are sick or that have been found dead in areas where the disease occurs). Avoid contact with any material, such as bedding, that has been in contact with a sick animal and solate infected patients from others who could be at risk of infection. Practice good hand hygiene after contact with infected animals or humans. For example, washing your hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Also use personal protective equipment when caring for patients. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Governor Wike: Jonathan Was Deceived, Sabotaged By PDP Insiders He Trusted Posted: 10 Oct 2017 12:04 AM PDT As former President Goodluck Jonathan prepares to give his own account of his historic defeat in the 2015 presidential election, more insiders are coming forward with their version of what happened. The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, said members of Jonathan's cabinet and ranking members of the PDP, from the party's former chairman, Adamu Mu'azu, deceived the former president and told him outright lies about his chances. In the current edition of The Interview, Wike said, "Let me tell you the truth; so many people were not sincere with Jonathan. You saw that even in the way some were being unduly sycophantic on issues that were totally out of point…I saw there was a lot of deceit." Wike said there were situations where politicians who were supposed to be in the field holed up inside Abuja, filing false reports. He continued: "Some of them would say, 'Your Excellency Sir, as I'm speaking with you now, so and so state is down for PDP'. It was all lies." He attacked the Northern leaders of the party, saying, "PDP in the North ganged up against Jonathan. Let the truth be told! Nobody will die! They were not sincere to him!" He said it was a mark of complicity that even though Jonathan was stoned in some states and the governors in those states watched idly by, adding that, "If I were in Jonathan's shoes, I won't take it; let the heavens fall!" Wike, who was minister of state for Education under Jonathan and generally perceived as First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan's "anointed", attacked "most cabinet members" for taking advantage of the former president's gentlemanliness. He, however, said the PDP reconciliation committee of which he is chairman, had in their sights, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and top members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, among others. He also spoke on his controversial presence as the only PDP governor at the airport when President Muhammadu Buhari returned from his medical vacation in Britain, an act that has raised some eyebrow. Wike spoke on his relationship with former Governor Peter Odili and allegations that he gatecrashed the office of a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to fix the outcome of the state's governorship election petition before the court. He said: "These (the purveyors of the information) are evil people. Can Rotimi Amaechi tell the story of his life and he won't mention Peter Odili? Can Dakuku Peterside mention anything and he won't mention Peter Odili?" The Rivers State governor also spoke on the leaked tape allegedly containing his voice, and claims that the $43million found in an Ikoyi apartment belonged to the state government. "Let the Federal Government dare release the report. You will see what will happen," he said. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Why God is the Difference between Happiness and Joy Posted: 10 Oct 2017 12:04 AM PDT "He is no fool, who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot I can still remember the year when Pokémon cards were all the rage at my elementary school. The videogame phenomenon had taken a literal stranglehold on my generation. Kids would buy, sell, and trade cards while in line for the bus or covertly during classes. Some would even skip meals, hording their lunch money as a way to purchase more behind their parent's backs. I was no different, and I actually amassed quite the notable collection. But if you were to ask me where they were today, I honestly couldn't tell you. Like all fads, whatever happiness these cards gave me eventually faded. I lost interest and moved on to the next thing. It's a pretty common story. How many of us remember Disco, Beanie Babies, Boom Boxes, Reebok Pumps, or expensive pagers? Looking back, it seems bizarre that so many of us would give our time and money to things which would eventually break or be forgotten. Yet, scripture makes it abundantly clear that humans have always had serious happiness problem (Ecclesiastes 1), and a recent article from Relevant Magazine is asking readers if they're searching for joy in all the right places. Writer Austin Bonds reflects on how even now, Christians attach too much of their happiness to material possessions. While it's no sin to take pleasure in a new car or nice pair of cloths, we must always remember these feelings are temporary. Happiness never lasts for long, but joy can endure even in the darkest times. He writes; "In a parable about a rich fool, Jesus said, 'Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions' (Luke 12:15). Possessions make us happy, but their pleasure is brief. I like Honda Civics and Netflix and running shoes and peanut M&M's and college football. These simple treats provide a measure of happiness; they are material blessings from a bountiful God who loves me deeply." "Happiness in Christ, on the other hand, is eternal. It has no shelf life or odometer or midsole that wears out. Stuff needs replacement. Christ is irreplaceable. The apostle Peter puts it so eloquently, stating, 'Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls'" (1 Peter 1:8-9).This may seem like a pretty common lesson for believers, but it's telling how many of us are guilty of this mistake. It's easy to lose sight of what you have while yearning for what you want. We forget the many blessings God has given us, while pining for something which will never make us whole. The end result is a mad game where we habitually try to complete ourselves when only God can do that for us. We try to prolong our happiness when we could be embracing joy. In Matthew 13, Jesus tells a parable about a pearl of great price, "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." – Matthew 13:45-46.The joy we find in God is worth more than any possession because above all, it endures! It does not rust or break, and we will never find something to replace it. Even when times are bad, we can take solace in the knowledge that this amazing love is forever ours, and that is truly something to be happy about! How Lady Escaped With New Neighbours' 3 Kids In Ogun Posted: 10 Oct 2017 12:04 AM PDT A woman has abducted her neighbour's three kids and disappeared to an unknown destination after she deceived their parents that she wanted to buy biscuits for them. The police in Ogun State were currently on the trail of the yet-to-be identified woman who moved into an apartment at Mowe in Ofada-Mokolokin area and after four days of staying in the said apartment, absconded with three of her neighbour's children. The victims - John Segun, 5, Darasimi Ilesanmi (two months old) and Fikayomi Bankole 3, were said to be in captivity without of any trace yet. The children have been missing since last week Sunday. The lady had moved into the apartment without giving the landlord adequate information about herself. On the day she disappeared with the children, she told their parents that she was going to buy them biscuits down the road. One of the victims parents Mr Ebenezer Ilesanmi whose two months old baby was taken away said that his wife was with their son in the compound washing clothes when their new neighbour approached her. The woman told his wife to bring their baby so that she can assist her to hold the baby so she could concentrate on the washing. She took the baby and promised to return soon. After washing the clothes, the wife became worried because the woman was not yet back and it was time for the baby to breastfeed. She later went to check the two other kids' mothers to know if their own children had returned. Unfortunately, it was the same thing. It was at that point that the woman called and told her husband what was going on. Immediately, the man rushed home. The man came to meet a crowd of people in front of their compound and everyone was searching for their children. Since then they've not seen them and his wife has been weeping. The man is appealing to the police to rescue the kids as his son was just an infant. "I don't know how they will breastfeed him. He is our first child. I don't know where or whom to run to" he said Another father, Idowu Bankole whose 3-year-old child was among those missing said he returned from church that fateful day, saw the woman with his son but never suspected her. He said his wife had left the church before him with their two children. He couldn't go with them as he's one of the elders in the church and they had a meeting. When he returned, he met his first child with her mother sleeping. His wife's mother told him that their new neighbour took Fikayo out to buy biscuit for him and other children. He was relaxed when he was told that their new neighbour took his son and two other children out. He went out to fix something only to come to hear that the woman was yet to return with the children. He encouraged his wife to exercise patience and calm down. After waiting for about two hours, another victim's grandmother came out searching for her grandchild. They then rushed to Mowe Police Station and reported the incident. The landlord and his son who rented out the apartment to the woman were arrested but were released three days later. They are appealing to the state Commissioner of Police and to rescue their children. The landlord, Tajudeen Leshi, said he never collected any money from the woman and that it was his son who rented out the apartment to the alleged abductor. He also blamed the kids' parents; wondering how they could just hand their children to someone they have just known for only four days? The Divisional Police Officer at the Mowe Police Station where the case was reported to, said that efforts were being made to track down the lady. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
