Tinubu Proposes 7-Point Agenda To Revive The Economy Posted: 09 Oct 2017 03:33 AM PDT APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, has proposed a seven-point agenda which, he said, would revive the country's troubled economy and drastically reduce her dependence on petrodollars. His words: "We must realise that no populous nation has ever attained broadly- shared prosperity without first creating an industrial capacity that employs large numbers of people and manufactures a significant quantity of goods for domestic consumption or export." Tinubu explained that the development of a national infrastructure plan; the return of commodity exchange boards and the promotion of government-backed housing programmes were important measures that could help to reposition the national economy. The proposals are contained in the text of a recent lecture the APC leader delivered in Lagos, where he said the decline in oil prices had revealed the travesty of the country's extant economic model. He proposed a national industrial policy fostering the development of strategic industries, which he said, could create jobs as well as spur sustainable economic growth. Tinubu noted that England, America and China had implemented policies to protect key industries, promote employment and encourage exports, explaining that these countries represented the past, present and immediate future of national economic achievement. He said: "A strong common thread is their policies of buffering strategic industries in ways that allow for the expansion and growth of the overall economy. So, we must press forward with a national industrial policy fostering the development of strategic industries that create jobs as well as spur further economic growth. "Whether we decide to focus attention on steel, textiles, cars, machinery components, or other items, we must focus on manufacturing things that Nigerians and the rest of the world value and want to buy. We must partially reshape the market place to accomplish this." He also proposed the need for the federal government to develop a policy of tax credits, subsidies that insulate critical sectors from the negative impact of imports. He equally recommended a national infrastructure plan, noting that roads, ports, bridges and railways need enhancing, and new ones need to be built with the goal being to develop a coherently-planned and integrated infrastructural grid. The APC leader said: "A national economy cannot grow beyond the capacity of the infrastructure that serves it. Good infrastructure yields a prospering economy. Weak infrastructure relegates the economy to the poorhouse. The government must take the lead. "The focus on infrastructure has important corollary benefit. Federal expenditure for needed infrastructural spending has empirically proven in every place and in every era to boost recessionary economies and provide employment when sorely needed. "Deficit spending in our own currency to advance this mission is neither a luxury nor a mistake. It is a fulcrum of and balanced and shared prosperity. We must overcome the economic, political and bureaucratic bottlenecks preventing us from achieving reliable electrical power." He added: "The normal profit rates in most business sectors cannot support the burden imposed by current interest rates. If our industrialists do not invest in more plants, equipment and jobs, the economy will stagnate." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Ritual Killers Confess: We bought human parts for N12,000 Posted: 09 Oct 2017 03:33 AM PDT A member of a suspected syndicate, Adebayo Mubashiru, has confessed that he and his colleagues buy human parts, including skulls, eyes and teeth, for N12,000. The suspect was arrested along with three others in the Abeokuta and Owode Egba areas of the state by the men of the Ogun State Police Command. Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the suspects specialised in killing for ritual purposes. CP Iliyasu, who paraded the suspects at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Magbon, Abeokuta, said the four suspects belonged to two different ritual syndicates. He said one of the syndicates, comprising Mudashiru and Rasheed Abass, who resided in the Totoro area of Abeokuta, were arrested on Thursday by operatives of FSARS. The two suspects were sighted on a motorcycle with a suspicious bag by policemen, who were on patrol, and they were stopped for a search. He said the search led to the discovery of fresh and dried human parts, dead lizards and charms, adding that they were serial killers. He added that two other suspects, Lateef Aremu and Kolawole Shodipo, were arrested at the Owode-Egba area of the state the same day. Iliyasu said operatives of the FSARS received information about them and trailed them to their hideout, where they were arrested with the human skulls and bones. Mudashiru confessed that he and the second suspect paid N12,000 for the human parts. He denied that they were ritual killers, saying they were looking for how to get quick money. He said, "We bought all the human parts for N12,000. We are not ritual killers. We want to get quick money by using the parts." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Goodluck Jonathan, Atiku Abubakar Meet over 2019 Power Battle Posted: 09 Oct 2017 03:03 AM PDT The push to get former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) and return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enhance the opposition party's bid to return to power in 2019 may have gained traction. This is following a recent discrete meeting between him and former President Goodluck Jonathan. The meeting said to have been held at the instance of Atiku, who was considering offers made to him by a section of the leadership of the opposition party to return, according to a THISDAY source, explored the desirability of the move and concluded that it would be a worthwhile political endeavour that could help terminate what both leading politicians regarded as the uninspiring rule of the APC. There were "concerted efforts" by some PDP leaders to bring Atiku back to the party's fold but he gave conditions, including an assurance that he would be given its automatic ticket to contest in 2019. The fresh meeting with Jonathan was said to have looked into the possibility of this condition with both of them said to have agreed that all options should be kept open as the political dynamics of the country remained fluid, requiring a more pragmatic approach to the upsurge in politicking. But Jonathan was said to have advised Atiku to consider returning to the PDP early enough to avoid being caught by certain provisions of the party's constitution, which stipulate a period of time a member has to spend in the party before he could be eligible to contest for a political office. "Atiku was advised to return early to enable him to fulfil eligibility condition in the party's constitution and also have ample time to integrate his political structure into the PDP's," a source said. The source said it was made clear to Atiku that he stood a better chance to realise his ambition in the PDP than the APC since President Muhammadu Buhari looked set to be given a right of first refusal. According to the source: "He was told to note a recent comment by the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, stating that as the incumbent, President Buhari had a right of first refusal even when the decision would have to be his. "That has been buoyed by Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai who had practically launched Buhari's re-election campaign." Referring to the reactions of the APC leadership and stalwarts to the recent declaration of support for his presidential ambition by the Minister of Women Affairs and Youth Development, Mrs Aisha Alhassan, the source said it was made clear to Atiku that there was nothing left for him in the APC and that he should just return to the PDP where he could reunite more easily with other founding fathers who were eager to rebuild the party. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
S*x With 4 Ladies: 21yrs old Nigerian Player, Isaac Success Arrested in UK Posted: 09 Oct 2017 03:03 AM PDT Nigerian international Isaac Success was arrested by the UK police for allegedly assaulting four ladies who are s*x workers in a Hertfordshire hotel. According to reports, Success whose only on-pitch action this season was as a half-time substitute in the Watford's Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol City, paid the s*x workers £2,000 for a night. The Watford striker, however, failed to "score" with any of the women. One of the ladies, Escort Alexis Domerge, in The Sun's report said that Success angrily asked for his money back afterwards. The 21-year-old was arrested in the hotel lobby after police were called following allegation of assault. She claimed the footballer, who earns £30,000 a week, accused them of ripping him off and asked for his money to be returned. Her words; "It was terrifying. He had paid four of us £500 each to party with him and we all got unclad as soon as the money came through on our phone bank accounts. "He was drinking Baileys straight from the bottle. He must have chugged at least two. I pulled off his shorts and got down to it with three other girls doing everything you could imagine. "But he was getting frustrated. What do you expect if you drink two bottles of Baileys liqueur straight from the bottle?" Another lady, Michaela Carter, said after 90 minutes they told him they 'couldn't give him extra time'. "He seemed a bit shy and awkward, probably because he's only 21..." When a young man sees money without any proper guide, expect some troubles. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
How Millionaire Kidnapper Evans Plotted To Escape Posted: 09 Oct 2017 02:38 AM PDT Kidnap suspect Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, alias Evans, plotted to escape from police custody before his arraignment in court, it was learnt at the weekend. Fortunately, police detectives, especially those in the Intelligence Unit, aborted his plot... Consequently, the Nigerian Prison Service has formed a heavy security ring around the suspect. After months of hide and seek, the police arrested Evans on June 10 at No. 3, Fred Shoboyede, Magodo, Lagos. He is standing trial before an Ikeja High Court for alleged conspiracy and kidnapping. The other accused persons are Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba. All the suspects were on August 29 remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons. Unknown to many Nigerians, the kidnapping kingpin had allegedly tried to escape from his cell in Abuja after he was transferred from Lagos. A source spoke of Evans' plan to give between $50,000 and $100,000 to one of the guards manning his cell to facilitate his escape. The source said Evans was allegedly coordinating his escape bid with some members of his gang by telephone which he obtained through "suspicious" means. It was learnt that intelligence officers and IGP's Special Tactical Squad detected his plot. The source said: "When Evans was in our custody, he tried to escape but we were able to abort all his plans. We discovered that he had access to phones which were hidden in the middle of loaves of bread, eba, semovita and so on. "He was making calls from these smuggled phones in the middle of the night, making arrangements with some yet to be identified members of his gang to arrange for his escape. "We intercepted how he was luring one of the guards with about $50,000 to $100,000. He wanted an insider to serve as informant to him and members of his gang." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Nigerian Senators earn more than President Trump, UK PM Posted: 09 Oct 2017 02:38 AM PDT The Initiator and Chairman, Movement for Nigeria's Total Transformation, Chief Areoye Oyebola, has decried the non-responsiveness of Nigerian federal lawmakers to the widespread call for the downward review of their "monumental salaries and allowances." His words: "It is also strange, unthinkable and very disheartening that a senator, not minding the grinding poverty of Nigerians, earns $1.7m a year, which is far higher than the $400,000 yearly income of the United States' President, whose stupendous country is the richest in the world." According to him, the criticism of the federal legislators by the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), was just one of many criticisms that had trailed the lawmakers over the years but to which they had turned deaf ears. He recalled that he had raised the same issue in a publication, tagged, "Grave Issues Nigeria Must Tackle," which was publicly presented at a gathering that had in attendance eminent Nigerians such as a former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola(SAN); human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN); and Prof. Pat Utomi. Oyebola had, in the presentation, decried what he described as the insensitivity of the lawmakers, who he said, were living large in the midst of widespread poverty in the country. He noted then that the earnings of the United States of America's President were far lower than what a Nigerian lawmaker took home. He said, "Even a member of the House of Representatives also earns more than the American President. What a tragic and pathetic situation! "Worse still, each of our National Assembly members earns more than the British Prime Minister, while the pay of a member of Ghana's unicameral legislature is a very small fraction of our House of Representatives' member jumbo pay of more than N10m in a month, let alone the monumental quarterly allowances that have led to serious public outcry. "The multi-million naira earned by the leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives even worse, more outrageous and mind-boggling." Oyebola noted that despite their modest pay, compared to the Nigerian federal lawmakers, the legislators in Ghana worked harder and "have minimal absenteeism," while they had also done much to sustain their country's democracy, "which is a model for many African countries." He said the Ghanaian lawmakers were also more sensitive to the realities in their country, recalling that an attempt by them to have a raise in earnings in 2009 was jettisoned following a public outcry. Oyebola called for a 90 percent cut in the earnings of Nigerian elected public officials, saying with that they would still be richer than their counterparts in the US and the UK. "If effected, each senator's present earnings of N15m a month will be reduced to N1.5m or N18m a year. A similar 90 per cent reduction should be effected from the pay of members of the House of Representatives." According to him, this is the only way to ensure politics would no longer be a matter of do-or-die. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Davido's Late Friend Tagbo's Autopsy Report Posted: 09 Oct 2017 02:03 AM PDT According to CBS, a Medical Examiner's Office autopsy revealed that Alcohol was a substantial factor in the 35-year-old Tagbo's autopsy report. He was also found to have alcohol and drugs in his system capable of better easing him into the early stages of hypothermia, later leading to his death. Autopsy report Toxicology tests detected alcohol(Bacardi 151, 75.5% Alcohol) and topiramate, a medication for epilepsy and/or migraines in a man's system, in Tagbo Umeike'. His blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) was at 0.112, higher than the 0.08 legal limit for normal human being state, the coroner's office stated. Tagbo Umeike' didn't have a prescription for any type of topiramate medication, according to his family. The coroner's office claims the amount of drug in Tagbos' system was in the "therapeutic range.", according to Tagbo autopsy report "Alcohol and topiramate are synergistic. When combined, the effect of either or both drugs is enhanced. Topiramate, like alcohol, can cause dizziness, impaired memory, impaired concentration, poor coordination, confusion and impaired judgment," a news release said. "Central nervous system depression, or impairment, combined with cold exposure can hasten the onset of hypothermia and death." The circumstances Tagbo Umeikes' death sparked controversy on the internet. Kachikwu, Baru Should Be Suspended, Senate Panel Chair Posted: 09 Oct 2017 02:03 AM PDT The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) Senator Tayo Alasoadura, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately suspend the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and Group Managing Director the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru. The Senator specifically stated that Baru's continued presence at the NNPC could jeopardise the Senate investigation into the allegations that he allegedly approved contracts to the tune of $25bn without the approval of the corporation's board. The senator said this during a live programme on Channels Television. When asked if they should be suspended, Alasoadura said, "I believe so; especially the man who is doing the day-to-day running of the organisation. In order not to hinder or hamper that investigation, because records will be needed and even from the date of the leakage of that letter, I think action should have been taken to ensure that nothing will be missing when investigations start "So, I think the two of them should be asked to step aside and when investigation is over, whoever is culpable will go and whoever is not culpable, will continue with his duties." The senator said one of the causes of the problem was the fact that Pres. Buhari doubled as the Minister of Petroleum Resources. Describing the arrangement as faulty, Senator Alasoadura said Buhari should step down and appoint a substantive minister who would be able to do the job more effectively. Meanwhile, the firms to be invited by the Senate for investigation include Oando, Sahara Energy, MRS Oil and Gas, AA Rano, Bono, Masters Energy, Eterna Oil and Gas, Cassiva Energy, Hyde Energy, Brittania U, North West Petroleum, Optima Energy, AMG Petroenergy, Arkiren Oil and Gas Limited and Shoreline Limited. Others are Entourage Oil, Setana Energy and Prudent Energy, Trafigura, Enoc Trading, BP Trading, Total Trading, UCL Petro Energy, Mocho, Tevier Petroleum, Heritage Oil, Levene Energy, Litasco Supply and Trading, Glencore, Hindustan Refinery, Varo Energy, Sonara Refinery, Bharat Petroleum and Cepsa. The companies are listed on the NNPC website as benefiting from crude term contracts. In a related development, OurMumuDonDo group, led by Charly Boy, said it would meet on Tuesday to conclude on how to stage protests over the $25bn contracts allegedly awarded without due process. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Great Tips To Help Make Your Dreams Come True Posted: 09 Oct 2017 01:08 AM PDT Do you have dreams? How many of your dreams have you achieved? If you haven't achieved any, then, how do you intend to achieve them? Dreams can be very sweet and sometimes too good to be actualized, but the truth is, any dream can come true. As I sat to think, it occurred to me that there are many of our dreams that are yet to be actualized thus, the reason for this series teaching to help us bring our dreams and visions to reality. In actualizing of any dreams, a lot of forces are required and today's part will focus on the force of CONFIDENCE. For instance, history will never forget the man called Winston Churchill. Churchill was a man who had a great dream, and was able to live his dreams through confidence. While Churchill was in school in Harrow at age sixteen, Churchill's response to a classmate's query about his future was bold. "I can see a vast changes coming over a now peaceful world," said the teenage Churchill, "great upheavals, terrible struggles, wars such as one cannot imagine; and I tell you London will be in danger, London will be attacked and I shall be very prominence in the defense of London… in the high position I shall occupy, it will fall to me to save the capital, to save the empire." What a dream! Growing up, Churchill was merely an average student. He was clumsy. But that didn't stop his dreams. His long term goal was to enter politics where he'd actualize his dreams. He was so confident that his dreams could be actualized that he decided to make a name for himself first by joining the army. In 1899, Churchill resigned from the army to pursue his political career. He ran for a seat in parliament and lost. Later that year when war broke out in South Africa, Churchill went there to cover it as a correspondent for the morning post. Two weeks later, as he traveled with troops on an armored train, rebels attacked and derailed it. Churchill took charge and rallied the troops. He helped to clear the rails allowing the locomotive and the tenders to escape with the wounded. Then he went back to try to help the troop's commander only to be captured. He was taken to a temporary prison in Pretoria. But Churchill refused to give in to defeat because his dreams were at stake. He climbed over the prison wall and hopped a freight train. When he arrived at Durban, he found that he had become a national hero and an international celebrity. After returning to England, he ran again for parliament where he'd once lost and won. In 1940, he was chosen to be prime minister after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain was forced out from office. After Europe fell to the Nazis, Great Britain stood against them for two years with Churchill as their leader. He defiled Hitler and continually rallied people of the nation despite repeated bombings from the Germans. He saw it as a young man and confidently went for it until he became it. Confidence is what's needed to pursue ones dreams despite all odds. The question is, how can we build confidence to begin the actualization of our dreams? Let me quickly highlight four useful tips that we can use to build confidence. 1. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF The first and greatest obstacle to success for most people is their unbelief in themselves. The lack of trust in oneself can kill confidence thereby leading to continuous procrastination and fear. 2. BELIEVE YOU CAN BECOME IT You can become whatsoever you want to if you can only believe it. Believing that you can become anything in life will trigger the confidence you need to stand up and take steps. 3. PRACTICE EXCELLENCE A life of excellence will give you confidence to pursue your dreams. For instance, the excellence of a product will determine the confidence that will be applied to promoting it. For instance, having an authority in your field to give a thumb up to your idea or product will increase your confidence to take it to anywhere. That's what excellence does to confidence. It boosts it. 4. KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO What can you do? Is a question if answered properly can help lift anyone into the realm of the unimaginable? Sometime ago, after waiting for the manager of a media outfit to request from him a slot on radio for my motivational program, he came and hit me with this question that sometimes requires a one minute answer. He asked me "young man, what can you do to help our audience?" and after giving him a one minute answer with clarity, he gave me 20 minutes weekly for a whole year without demanding for a fee. I knew what I could do and that gave me the confidence to approach him. I strongly believe these tips will help you build confidence and take those steps to bring it to reality. Photo: woman cuts off neighbour’s tongue in Lagos | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 09 Oct 2017 12:49 AM PDT Alhaji Abass Street, Ogudu, Lagos State, has turned into a theatre of the absurd after a 29-year-old resident, identified simply as Biodun, allegedly cut off the tongue of her confidant, Babangida Sulyman. It was learnt that 23-year-old Babangida was an errand boy to the unmarried woman, helping her to buy food and deliver messages. They both reside in the same compound, where the incident happened last Tuesday. While Babangida lives with his mother, Biodun squats with her married elder sister. PUNCH Metro learnt that the duo had enjoyed a mutual relationship for about two years, until sometime in March 2017 when Babangida's mother asked him to quit the friendship after a disagreement broke out between him and Biodun. Our correspondent gathered that Babangida, after his mother's directive, kept Biodun at arm's length. Biodun, however, reportedly approached Babangida for reconciliation two weeks ago, and pleaded with him to resume his role as her errand boy, which the latter rejected. The strained relationship, it was learnt, assumed a new dimension around 8pm on Tuesday when they met at the shop of a woman in the area. Biodun was said to have rebuked Babangida, which prompted the shop owner to ask him what went wrong. Babangida reportedly declined to speak with the woman in Biodun's presence and promised to discuss the issue with her (the woman) the next day. He had gone to the toilet around 11.30pm to urinate and was about to leave the restroom when Biodun allegedly sneaked in, squeezed his neck and forced him to open his mouth. She subsequently yanked out part of his tongue. The victim's mother, who is the landlady of the building, Hassanat Ali, said she was asleep when Olumide Agbolade (aka Olumba), the husband of Biodun's elder sister, raised the alarm. She said, "They related with each other like siblings. She used to send him on errands as far as Ikeja and they used to go out together. I had warned him to stay away from her six months ago when they had a disagreement and she called him an ingrate. I saw them together three days before the incident happened and I warned him again. One of the Babangida's brothers, Yahaya Sulyman, said the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case visited the victim at the hospital to obtain his statement. He alleged that the IPO later altered the statement and claimed that Biodun injured Babangida while he was kissing her. He said, "I am not living with the family. I got a call on Wednesday about the incident and rushed to the hospital. I met Olumba there and asked him what transpired. He said he wanted to urinate when he heard Babangida screaming and on getting into the toilet, he was bleeding from the mouth. Doctors said they could not attach the severed tongue. "Biodun's family was pushing for settlement through the police. They brought a document for us to sign and offered us N30,000, but we rejected it. The DPO directed that she should be charged to court." Olumba told PUNCH Metro that he had finished eating outside that night and was about to retire to bed when he heard Babangida screaming. He said, "I wanted to urinate before going to bed. While I was approaching the toilet, I heard Babangida's voice. He was shouting, 'leave me alone,' repeatedly. I initially thought it was a fight and wondered who he could be fighting with inside the toilet at that time. Another resident, Rabi Muhammed, who was also outside that night, said she heard Biodun say, "Eyan kan ma ku lale yi (somebody would die tonight)," shortly before the assault. The victim had yet to regain his speech, as of Saturday when our correspondent visited him. However, he managed to croak what transpired between him and the suspect. He said, "We were very close and she always told me that she liked me. But we never had any amorous relationship. She introduced me to her friends and boyfriends. She used to complain that I only liked her friends' pictures on Instagram. The Lagos State Police Public Relations, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the assault, adding that the suspect had been charged to court on Friday. It was learnt that Biodun was remanded in custody while the case was adjourned till October 18, 2017. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
