| Buhari’s Female Minister calls Atiku Nigeria’s next President Posted: 06 Sep 2017 03:46 AM PDT  Mama Taraba, Aisha Alhassan, minister of woman affairs, may have started campaigning for former vice-president Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2019 presidential election. In a video clip that surfaced online on Wednesday, Alhassan appeared to have led a delegation on a visit to Atiku in his home and she described him as the 2019 president. Addressing Atiku in Hausa, the minister said the delegation came to rejoice with him over the health God has given him. "Mr President, our father, Nigeria's president for 2019, God willing, in your presence today are your people who have been placed under your care for forever," she said. "They've come to pay tribute and greet you for the Sallah celebrations and also to rejoice with you for your health." | Police Officers Arrest Three Men With Human Skull, Hands Posted: 06 Sep 2017 03:11 AM PDT  The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said on Tuesday that Adeyeye was arrested in Ipetumodu following a tip-off. Adeoye said, "We are still still investigating. He will be charged to court soon." But the suspect claimed that one Akin, who was living in his house, brought the skull and he sent the man packing because of that. He said he was surprised that policemen arrested him because of the skull. Adeyeye later changed his story when he was accused of wanting to use the skull for money ritual for a client. While denying the ownership of the skull, he later admitted telling the client that money ritual must involve the use of human parts. The police also paraded another man, a herbalist, Babatunde Awolola, and one Ademola. 39-year-old Awolola was arrested in the Iwo area with two suspected human hands. Awolola said he bought the hands from one Olakanmi for N10,000, and that Ademola, a commercial motorcycle rider, did not know the content of the bag. He explained that the two hands were got from corpses in a graveyard. He said, "I am an herbalist. I bought the hands from Olakanmi for N10,000. I buy other human parts from him also. | REVEALED: Chief Justice of Nigeria, Okonjo-Iweala, Others Under Probe – EFCC Posted: 06 Sep 2017 03:11 AM PDT  These big names and others below are being investigated for alleged massive corruption. These are contained in the list of high-profile cases involving over 100 politically-exposed persons and top-ranking public officers still being investigated by the EFCC as of August 2017. The list, sighted by Punch via an EFCC source on Monday, was recently sent by the anti-graft agency to the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), based on request. The Punch had reported that the list, sent to the AGF's office earlier in August, comprised over 100 high-profile cases including the cases of a Justice of the Supreme Court and a judge of the Federal High Court. It has also reported that some former governors, one of whom currently serves as a minister in the President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet, and others serving their terms in the Senate as well as other politically-exposed persons, including some former ministers, senators and some persons are being investigated for the $2.1bn arms purchase scam. "The list was actually sent in August to the then Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and copied the AGF," another EFCC source said on Tuesday. The list, sighted earlier on Monday, listed 106 cases under investigation and several others pending in court but either stalled or moving slowly. It did not disclose the details of the cases under investigation. But it stated the date each of the over 100 cases was "referred", the challenges being encountered in the investigation and the source of information leading to the commencement of the probe. Sources of such information for the cases were listed against each of the cases. They include intelligence, whistle-blowers and petitions from agencies and private citizens. Among other notable names on the list are: The incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and his predecessor, Captain Idris Wada. Other former governors on the list include Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, who is currently the Senate's Minority Leader; Jonah Jang of Plateau State, currently serving as Senator representing Plateau North; Ali Modu Sherriff of Borno State, who recently had a controversial stint as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party; and Chief Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State. Also listed are the names of Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan; and some ministers who served under the Jonathan administration. Apart from Okonjo-Iweala, former ministers on the list include the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN); a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed; ex-Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, who is currently the Senator representing Anambra North; and ex-Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe. Alison-Madueke's husband's name, Reaf Admiral Alison Madueke (retd.), was also listed. Also sighted on the list are the names of two men who simultaneously served as media aides to Jonathan – ex-Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, and a former Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe. Other prominent high-profile persons on the list are a former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko; a former acting Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus; Col. Bello Fadile (retd.), who served under the immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki; the incoming Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdu Kafarati; and Justice Mohammed Tsamiya, who was recently retired compulsorily by the National Judicial Council. The EFCC stated in the document that it was investigating the CJN based on intelligence referred to it on October 12, 2016. The document indicated that the commission was investigating Okonjo-Iweala based on a petition referred to it on January 28, 2016. This inhumane act was meted out to my family friends last weekend. I copied this text from his facebook wall. Abel Akanbi is the younger brother of the main victim.... The brother wrote: "I don't think there is any iota of dignity or sanity left in the system of these black uniformed people. We were returning to Ibadan from the RCCG Camp all night program, about 08:00am, we were stopped by some armed Nigeria police officers at the front of the DOMINION UNIVERSITY PERMANENT SITE near Ibadan. Without any offense this anonymous police officer hit my elder brother (a medical doctor) with a device known to the officer on his face, he cooked his gun ready to shoot as if he just apprehended armed bandits. I saw my elder brother slummed immediately and we were all over him trying to revive him. For quite sometime, I saw my elder brother lying almost lifeless on the expressway, without any offense committed by him. I therefore demand from the police authority to fish out these hoodlums in police uniform with immediate effect. They were all wearing reflective jackets so, we couldn't get their Numbers, (Names of Officers seen were ANTHONY who led the team and one FOLORUNSHO) they came in a black unbranded Toyota hilux van and a white bus with registration number EPE-823-DR. All of them ran away from the scene of the incident some went into the premises of the DOMINION UNIVERSITY and others went away in the vehicles when they discovered we were trying to make contact with higher authorities. While our lawyer is putting the details together, I want to appeal to all well meaning Nigerians to help share and re-share this message until it gets to the Inspector General of police for action. "I wasn't out of my mind. What we did was nothing special. We are not the first people to honour people who have spiritual authority and we are not going to be the last. It is not a new phenomenon. | Married Man Shot Dead By His Wife's Secret Boyfriend Posted: 06 Sep 2017 01:21 AM PDT  The victim identified as Tawanda Moyo, 43, a former member of Siyaya Arts group, was left with a bullet lodged in his spine during the incident which happened on July 25 in Zimabawe. He was killed by businessman Mr. Oricious (38) who allegedly was sleeping with Moyo's wife. He was shot when Oricious allegedly confronted him while he was "relaxing" with his wife, Jacqueline Moyo, in a car. Mr. Moyo, who was admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital since the shooting, underwent an operation on Monday evening to remove the bullet. The victim died at the United Bulawayo Hospitals where he had been transferred after the operation. A spokesperson for the Moyo family, Mr Roderick Moyo, said they were struggling to come to terms with the reality of his death. | How To Raise Good Children In Our Today's World Posted: 06 Sep 2017 12:51 AM PDT  Greed is not a new problem because of the rise of technology. The Apostle John wrote that "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life comes not from the Father but from the world" (1 John 2:16). These words written thousands of years ago ring true today. Children crave junk food and candy (the lust of the flesh). They see new toys, video games, iPhones, and they want them (the lust of the eyes). They desire to possess the same stuff that their classmates have and even more (the pride of life). So how can you raise kids who aren't always asking for more? How can you raise a generous child who is not following the lead of this world? Use screen time wisely. Television is still the number one place kids are spending their media time which means they are watching a lot of commercials. They are also seeing ads online. Eighty-seven percent of the most popular children's websites carry advertising with 3 billion display ads for food and beverages. Out of these 3 billion ads, one third of them offer premiums with purchases. Advertisers are vying for your child's attention and your dollars. Limit your child's screen time and you will limit their exposure to advertisements. Your child can't want what they don't know about. Read books about characters that help others. When a child reads and gets engrossed in the struggles of a character in a book, he or she becomes more empathetic and generous to others in real life. When my son Ethan was in fourth grade, he read about Corrie ten Boom and her courage in hiding Jews during World War II. Learning about Corrie made Ethan much more grateful for the safety he experiences. Good books can influence our children to be generous to others in extraordinary ways both now and in the future. Expose your children to poverty. Whether it's taking your kids on a missions trip, supporting a child through an organization like Compassion International, or watching videos of children who live in a developing nation, you must show your children that not everyone lives like they do in America. Explain that there are many kids around the world who don't have running water. You might serve only rice and beans for one day to illustrate the diet of many children worldwide. I remember one time we headed for a restaurant as a family to use a coupon. When we pulled up to the restaurant, it was closed…permanently! My kids wailed about their hunger. I said, "Now kids, there are millions around the world who feel this hunger every day." My son replied, "But they are used to it, and we're not!" We had a good laugh and it certainly illustrated to all of us how good we really have it. Engage in service as a family. Pray for opportunities to serve others so you can model generosity to your children. You might see a single mom who looks overwhelmed at a fast food restaurant and you could pay her bill. We live close to the Mexican border and our friend was going to the dump to bring sandwiches to the people who live there. It was not appropriate for our kids to go to that dump, but we were able to spread mayonnaise and assemble 200 sandwiches for those families. As you model generosity yourself and pray to keep greed at bay in your own life, you will teach your kids to do the same. Highlight generosity in your home by lavishing praise on your children when they are generous to each other or to a friend. Dennis Prager said, "Goodness is about character – integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people." As your children live out the Golden Rule of treating others how they would want to be treated, they will become examples of generosity in this gimme-gimme more world. She held her phone up to her ear as she quickly crossed the road in front of a photographer, who snapped away as Laura quickly put her arm back down and dashed over to the other side of the street. The photographer then got into a van parked opposite from the Beetle and Laura appeared to join him by hopping in the passenger side.  And the pal who watched Laura on her 15-second photoshoot said she'd "seen it all now".

| Couple Fly All The Way To Florida To Beat Their Son's Wife Posted: 06 Sep 2017 12:26 AM PDT  67yrs old Jasbir Kalsi and his wife Bhupinder, 62, are said to have travelled from the Punjab region in India to Hillsborough County in the US to help "counsel and discipline" son Devbir's wife. Their son's wife Silky Gaind was discovered battered and bruised by police officer on Saturday after getting a message to her parents. Her in-laws and husband are now facing multiple charges, including battery. Her father-in-law, who had been visiting with his wife for about a month, also allegedly held a knife to her throat. Ms Gaind, 33, had been held for some time before deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff Office arrived at her door. Even then, the family attempted to bar them from entering the house, forcing the officers to call for back up as Ms Gaind called on them to help her and her one-year-old daughter. At a court hearing on Sunday, Ms Gaind told a judge her 33-year-old husband had left her in fear for her life. "I am so scared, because last night he was telling me he was going to kill me if I call the police. He would kill me to death, you know? He told me it would take 10 minutes for police to come and before that he would kill me and then kill himself," she said. WFLA reported Jasbir Kalsi was facing charges of aggravated battery with a knife, while her husband Devbir had been charged with felony battery. Both are charged with false imprisonment, child abuse and denying access to 911. | 20 Dead As Cholera Outbreak Spreads In Borno | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 05 Sep 2017 09:52 PM PDT  Via a statement, yesterday, NCDC revealed that about six areas in the state, with Muna Garage IDP camp, on the outskirts of the capital, Maiduguri, have been affected by the disease. Following the confirmation of the disease finding its way into the state, it was disclosed that NCDC has deployed a Rapid Response Team to support the state Ministry of Health in coordination, contact identification, tracing and laboratory investigation as well as case management. He said that public health measures have been initiated which include the establishment of a Cholera Treatment Centre (CTC) in the affected camp and surrounding areas. Ihekweazu, CEO Of NCDC also revealed that they ensured the strengthening access to water, sanitation and hygiene as well as other measures taken to curb the spread of the disease, adding that partners were working together to conduct a cholera vaccination of the state. "Cholera is a disease that causes acute watery diarrhea in children and adults. "While cholera is endemic in Nigeria, we find an increase in the number of cases during the rainy season.
