My Experience in The Hands of IPOB Boys - Lady opens up

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 03:45 AM PDT

As shared by Bridget Anurika Eze:
All my life I have never had a first hand experience of public harassment like today.

As part of our normal routine in the office and the scheme at large, we left for facilities inspection at Aba, and off Aba along port Harcourt road.

After we were done and coming back, we got to enyimba Junction/bakassi, coman see ipob boys terrorizing people, everyone running for their lives.

We kept on moving but slowly and noticed that the road was kinda dry. Before we knew it ipob boys rushed out from nowhere and attacked our hilux, they where more than 15...

Carrying different weapons, one of them used shovel and hit the hilux hard, before I could blink my eyes they opened the door and started dragging us out, I heard my oga chorused , NO please, we are BIAFRANS " I joined them o, and was shouting, biafra, biafra.. This boys weren't even listening, one used a heavy big stone and was hitting my oga, others were removing the car Cover seat that's made of Nigeria color /coat of arm. That we are not biafra, that's why we had that on, that were is our flag or means of identification....

I didn't know what to do, they dragged me outta the car, I came down didn't know what to do, I thought of hiding under the hilux but no way because they were just everywhere. I was just praying my last prayer just incase they decide to kill us. Ever seen or witnessed any case of jungle justice? Now, that's exactly the scene today.

The other part of the road was another set of ipob boys damaging a truck full of goods, and another dangote truck full of cement on fire already.
All this I witnessed/saw within 20mins...

Finally I heard oya enter your motor and run for your life.
We sped off.
It was just I, the coordinator, and the driver. I started asking the driver why they allowed us go, our driver said he gave them 500naira that's why they said we should go.

On our way still driving carefully, because they are everywhere, we saw soldiers in their convoy coming down to calm the situation.

On entering umuahia, the check points are tight, every living thing except the driver inside a bus, car, keke must come down and raise his/her two hands up to be sure the person isn't with any weapon.
Oh well...

Until there's a legal/defined way to go about this biafra thingy, there will never be peace. If you haven't experienced this ipob boys and there madness you will not understand , it's not about writing epistle on Facebook in the comfort of your home that they should give us biafra this and that. This boys are terrorizing us, their people, the igbos per se.
Imagine if they had killed us or any of us. Just like that.
Most of this ipob boys are touts, and thieves, I almost forgot to say that they took our drivers phone too.
And returned it when he gave them the money.

This is too much really.

My heart is still heavy.

Find attached the selfies I took before and after, u'll notice the car seat cover that was removed. I couldn't take pictures of the other scenes because I was scared.

I just Thank God we came out of this alive.

Two Nigerian caregivers charged in the UK after locking autistic woman in a car and going on shopping spree | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 03:30 AM PDT

Two Nigerian carers have pleaded guilty after they left a severely autistic woman locked in a car alone while they went on a two-and-a-half hour shopping spree.

Sylvia Ezeorji, 47 and Veronica Howe, 52, were both care support workers for 58-year-old Claire McMullen, who suffers with autism, learning difficulties and does not speak.

According to Kentonline, she was found by police locked in a car in Chatham High Street on a hot day in July after concerned members of the public dialed 999 when they saw the vehicle rocking.Initially it was thought a dog may be trapped inside, but when officers investigated further, they saw Ms McMullen in the back.

She was wearing a big coat and sweating. Beside her was a packet of Wotsits and a bottle of water the carers had left for her, but Ms McMullen was not even capable of opening the items.

Howe, of Castle Road, Chatham, and Ezeorji, of Porters Avenue, Dagenham, have pleaded guilty to neglect.

They were told by the court their actions showed "total disregard for a person's life".

Magistrates heard Ms McMullen is deemed a very vulnerable adult.

She needs two-to-one care 24 hours a day as she is in danger of choking on food so she must be supervised at all times.

The court was told officers had to smash a window to free Ms McMullen because they were so concerned about her welfare. She was immediately given water and drank it thirstily before being taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked over.

Ezeorji and Howe returned to the vehicle at about 4pm, two-and-a-half hours after they had abandoned her inside.

Police were still on the scene and arrested the pair on suspicion of neglect.

Both were later charged and pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates' Court.

They returned to the same court for sentencing. The court was told the pair had admitted their actions fell below what is required of them and said they did go to check on her in the car, but left her there again and just forgot about the time.

Magistrates decided their sentencing powers were insufficient and sent the case to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with.

You are wearing fake carton crowns-Olubadan tells 21 newly crowned kings | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 03:00 AM PDT

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has described the crowns given to the 21 new kings in Ibadan as ones made of carton.

According to a statement signed by the Director, Media and Public Affairs to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, after the monarch received members of the Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis who paid him a solidarity visit at his palace on Tuesday,he said that he waited for 40 years before he was made a king, urging the high chiefs who were crowned king by the state government to wait for their turn to become kings.
He said,

"I started as a Mogaji. I was moving step by step before I assumed the throne after 40 years. I thank God for that. We must all love one another. If you love yourself and hate others, your purpose of love is nothing. I was called by the elders of my family to come and become a Mogaji more than 40 years ago. I rejected it and for three years, they were persuading me.
"In trying to convince me, the representative of my family told me that it could be that one day I would become a king. I then accepted it and became the Mogaji of my family. I waited on God and he made me a king.

"Those who were crowned a few weeks ago know within themselves that they are wearing fake crowns, it is just a carton crown. I began my journey more than 40 years, why can't they wait for their turn. If you don't wait for your turn, you will be on the wrong side of destiny."
The statement added,
"The Olubadan described as untrue and unfounded the statement credited to a group of Ibadan elders that Kabiyesi had consented to the controversial chieftaincy review embarked upon by the Oyo State Government resulting in the controversial crowning of 21 new kings.
"Oba Adetunji  stated that the elders should not mislead Ibadan people into believing what he did not say, as what he said was that Governor Ajimobi, over whom they had come to plead, was his son and that he would not want a third party intervention over the matter. The Olubadan said for the avoidance of doubt, his opposition to the elevation of high chiefs to kingship status without domain remained the same.
"The Olubadan said that he could not see how he would bless the high chiefs who had refused to wait for their turn before stepping forward to take crowns from the government, contrary to our tradition and custom.
"The king said that the same Ibadan Elders' Forum stoutly opposed the former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala's move to elevate six baales in their letter dated April 24, 2009. On page two of that letter titled, 'The composition of Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs', signed by Ambassador Olu Sanu and Onaolapo Ajibola, they stated, "The (Ibadan Chieftaincy) system had worked for ages and ensured peace and stability in Ibadan land and the forum would therefore not want the government to tamper with the system in order not to create confusion and ill feeling.'
"The first-class monarch has therefore urged the Ibadan elders to stop contradicting themselves and creating confusion for peace and progress of Ibadan land."

Outrage as Singapore gets first female president without a vote | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 03:00 AM PDT

Singapore got its first female president Wednesday, but the decision has been faced with criticism that her selection was undemocratic after she was handed the job without a vote.

Halimah Yacob, a former speaker of parliament from the Muslim Malay minority, did not have to face an election for the largely ceremonial post after authorities decided her rivals did not meet eligibility criteria.

It was not the first time in the affluent city-state — which is tightly controlled and has been ruled by the same party for decades — that the government has disqualified presidential candidates, making an election unnecessary.

But there was already unease about the process as it was the first time that the presidency had been reserved for a particular race, in this case the Malay community. The decision to hand her the job without an election added to the anger.

Social media was abuzz with criticism as Halimah, a bespectacled 63-year-old who wears a headscarf, was formally announced as president-elect, with Facebook user Pat Eng writing: "Elected without an election. What a joke."

"I will call her President Select from now on," said Joel Kong on the networking site, while some posts were marked with the hashtag #NotMyPresident — echoing the message used by upset Americans after the election of President Donald Trump

Halimah who was a member of parliament for the ruling People's Action Party for nearly two decades before resigning to contest the presidency said

"I'm a president for everyone. Although there's no election, my commitment to serve you remains the same," she said.
Halimah added she would "start working immediately" to bring the country together.

She also insisted her status as Singapore's first female president was "not just tokenism", in a speech to a cheering crowd while wearing orange, a colour supposed to symbolise unity.

EFCC Discovers Another N6bn Plaza In Abuja Belonging To Patience Jonathan’s

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 02:45 AM PDT

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has discovered another uncompleted eight-storey building in a prime area of Abuja allegedly belonging to Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The building has been described by the EFCC as a 'magnificent architectural edifice'.

Comparative analysis of similar buildings on several trading sites within the same area put the worth of the building at N6bn.

Punch visited the building, which is located within the Central Business District, between the National Mosque and the Federal Secretariat.

It was alleged in documents sighted by Punch that Patience allegedly acquired the property through her foundation known as Aribawa Aurera Reach Out Foundation.

In a document, attached to a court application, EFCC had written to Corporate Affairs Commission to get the identities of the directors of the foundation who are believed to be fronts for Patience.

The commission further stated that it had written to the Abuja Geographical Information System to get the history of the property and how and when it was bought.

The anti-graft agency has also written eight banks:
Skye Bank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, Union Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa and Unity Bank.

EFCC had a few months ago frozen an account belonging to Aribawa Aurera Reach Out Foundation with account number 1222014221 in Ecobank with a balance of N479m.

The anti-graft agency said there was no way Patience would have been able to afford such a property as her last known job was Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State.

The Right Things To Do When You Fall Out Of Love

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 01:20 AM PDT

"Is this really my life?" the young bride said through tears. Theresa couldn't believe she found herself "falling out of love" with the man she had vowed to love forever — only 18 months previous.

Theresa composed herself and told me the story of the whirlwind romance that led up to her marriage. As she shared with me how she and her husband met, I saw a sparkle in her eye and a gentle smile across her lips.

When she talked about the long walks she and her man would take, holding hands and dreaming about how happy they would be as husband and wife, another tear trickled down her cheek.

What had happened?
Theresa couldn't point to any particular event that had caused her feelings for her husband to change. It had all happened gradually. "Life just got in the way," was how she put it.

What's the Key to Staying in Love?
Theresa's story is not uncommon. Many couples find themselves in trouble when they wrongly make the tasks of everyday living their priority — rather than nurturing their love for one another. So how can you cultivate a loving relationship with your husband that will stand the test of time?

The first insight into building a love that lasts is to take your focus off of how much you want to be loved by your husband.

If you become obsessed with your longing to feel loved, you will become more preoccupied with self-satisfaction than with building a happy relationship. And this, in turn, will undermine the health of your marriage.

You may be surprised to learn the secret to loving your husband well lies in learning to love God deeply. Because when your love for the Lord is genuine, He gives you His supernatural ability to love others selflessly — including your husband.

The marriages I most want to emulate are those of husbands and wives who have learned to love God so much that their passion for one another is almost supernatural.

Don't you want a marriage like that?

So how can you learn to love God so deeply that it spills over into your marriage?

Jesus said the greatest priority of life is to "love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength" (Mark 12:30).

Let's take a closer look at Jesus' words, shall we? Notice how He said you are to love God: with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, all your strength. It's an all-out love. It holds nothing back. And it involves every part of your being — your emotions, your inner self, and your thoughts. This kind of love seeks to grow closer to God and know Him intimately. That's how you fall more and more in love with someone — by getting to know them.

Growing more deeply in love with the Lord means spending time with Him.

But first, for this to happen, you must have a relationship with God through Christ. If you have received Christ as your Savior and Lord, then you are a child of God and you have a relationship with Him.

If you haven't taken this step or you aren't sure whether you have, then I would encourage you to contact me through my website NoRegretsWoman.com so I can send you an article I've written called: "How to Have a Relationship with Jesus." This article is also found in the appendix of all of my books.

Getting back to loving God — here are specific steps you can take to grow in that love:
  • Devote yourself to discovering God's character qualities through Bible study. Study the Bible with other women who have a sincere desire to love God with all of their hearts.
  • Read His Word and get to know Him better. The more you read the Bible, the more you'll learn God's desires for your life. You'll come to see life—and your marriage relationship—from His perspective.
  • Pray to Him throughout the day. Communicate with and talk to God regularly because love grows through frequent interaction.
  • Fellowship with other believers who have a genuine love for the Lord. Let their love for Jesus serve as a contagious influence for you.
I can say with confidence that pursuing intimacy with God transformed my marriage, and I am confident that it can transform yours as well.

That's because when your love for God is right, He will help you love your husband the way your heart longs to love him, and you will build a marriage with no regrets.

5 Surprising Tricks For Spending Less & Saving Money

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 01:11 AM PDT

It is possible to live without having to incur so much expenses, and there are a number of tricks to help with this and help you spend less. Jumia Travel shares 5 surprising tricks for spending less.

Don't Take Your Wallet or Bag Everywhere You Go
This is one effective trick that will help you spend way less than you are used to spending. If you're going out for something as simple as a walk, skip taking your wallet along with you. Take only the exact cash you'll need to transport yourself if you get tired of walking, and nothing more that can tempt you into impulse purchases.

Consider the 30-day Rule
If you feel like you're about to make an impulse purchase, even if you're making a very strong case in your head for why you need that thing, it is best to apply the 30-day rule in such situations. Take note of the item and wait 30 days before buying it. If at the end of the 30 days, you are still sure you want it, then chances are you actually do need that thing and you can then proceed to buy it.

Invite Friends Over To Your House Instead of Going Out
Invite friends over to your house more often than you go out with them. Just one boy's or girl's night out can potentially irreparably devastate your food and entertainment budget, therefore, it is advisable that you opt for the cheaper option of inviting your friends over to your house as often as you can; you can enjoy the entertainment and financial benefits of simply hosting a fun get-together with your friends. If you must go out with your friend, consider sightseeing, going to the beach or other cheaper alternative to having fun and enjoying your outing.

Write a List Before You Go Shopping
One of the best ways to spend less and save money when you shop is to use a list to guide your shopping endeavors. Having a list (and sticking to it) can help you avoid impulse and unplanned purchases. Having a list can also help you buy items that fit your meal plan and help you avoid buying extra foods that you might end up wasting.

Buy Reliable and Fuel Efficient Cars
This is one trick to spending less on car expenses that most people don't realize. It is not about the beauty or attractiveness of the car, it is more about how reliable and fuel efficient it is. Avoid buying cars that are difficult to maintain and consume a lot of fuel to run, because this can make you spend an outrage amount of monthly car.

4 Benefits Of Being "Heavenly" Minded

Posted: 13 Sep 2017 12:10 AM PDT

If our brief time on earth is only the "cover and title page" of our eternal existence, it only makes sense that we would want to know what comes after the title page.

Beyond satisfying our natural curiosity about what awaits us beyond the grave, contemplating the next life can result in four tangible benefits in this life...

1. Focusing on Heaven Reminds Us of the Brevity of Our Earthly Life
Life is short. Eternity is long. To illustrate this reality, Randy Alcorn asks people to take a piece of white paper and place a dot in the center, then draw a line from the dot to the edge of the page. It would look something like this:

The dot represents our years on earth, while the line represents eternity. Right now all of us are living inside the dot. Yet very few Christians think beyond the dot to the line—to the eternity that awaits us. How foolish it is to live for the dot that is only a blip on the screen of our eternal existence.15

Yet the dot and the line are connected to one another. As brief as our existence in this life is, it's very much connected to our eternal existence. There is no break between the dot and the line. My friend Bruce Wilkinson says it brilliantly: "Everything you do today matters forever."16

The New Testament writer James said it this way: "You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away" (James 4:14). And the apostle Peter observed:
All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall. (1 Pet. 1:24 NIV)

2. Focusing on Heaven Prepares Us for the Certainty of Judgment
"Everybody Is Going to Heaven" may be a popular song but it's also a horrendous lie. God's Word reveals that everybody is not going to heaven. In fact, very few people are going to heaven if Jesus can be trusted on this subject. The Lord urged people to "enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matt. 7:13-14).

Tragically, the majority of humanity is on the wrong road that ultimately leads to the wrong destination. From the moment we're born into this world we are on that road (or "way") that is heading away from God. It's the "way" of rebellion against God. As the prophet Isaiah wrote,
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way. (Isa. 53:6)
No one has to do anything to end up in hell when he or she dies. All a person needs to do is continue traveling in the same direction he or she has been traveling since birth.

By contrast, relatively few people find the road that leads to heaven. In fact, to find that "way" a person must do a spiritual U-turn—which is the meaning of the biblical term repent. Repent (metanoea) means "to change one's mind." A simple definition of repentance is "a change of mind that leads to a change of direction." Only when a person admits that he or she is on the wrong road can he or she discover the right road. Jesus was clear that He is the only "Way" that leads to eternal life: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me" (John 14:6).

3. Focusing on Heaven Motivates Us to Live Pure Lives
Most of the television interviews I do for cable news are taped in the late afternoon or are live in the evening. That means I must concentrate on keeping my clothes clean throughout the day. I tuck a napkin into my shirt collar at lunch to prevent stains on my tie. I immediately use a wet towel to wipe off any dirt on my suit jacket. And right before the camera rolls, someone runs a lint remover over my garment. All of this attention is necessary because the bright lights and high-definition television equipment are unforgiving and will reveal to millions of people any imperfections in my attire.

Similarly, there's a day coming when every Christian's "clothing" or actions will be placed under the glare of God's judgment and will reveal any imperfections. That "day" is the day of Christ's return in which "each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it" (1 Cor. 3:13). As we'll see in chapter 8, the purpose of this judgment is to determine not the believer's eternal destiny but his or her eternal rewards.

The Bible often uses clothing as a metaphor for our spiritual lives. It's helpful to understand that in biblical times people often wore two different types of tunics: an inner tunic (comparable to today's undergarments) that no one saw and an outer tunic that was visible to everyone.

Every Christian also wears two kinds of spiritual garments. Our "inner tunic" is our judicial righteousness—meaning our "right standing" with God—that God places on us when we trust in Christ as our Savior. Paul referred to our judicial righteousness when he prayed that on the day he finally met God he might "be found in Him, not having a righteousness of [his] own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ" (Phil. 3:9). Our "inner garment" of God's forgiveness is something we receive from Him. There is nothing we can do to improve it, soil it, or remove it.

But no one wants to walk around wearing only undergarments! That's why, to be properly dressed, we must put on our "outer tunic." This "outer tunic" represents a Christian's ethical righteousness, which is how we live after we become a Christian. While judicial righteousness refers to our "right standing" before God, ethical righteousness represents our "right acting" before God after we are saved.

4. Focusing on Heaven Places Suffering in Perspective
One of the questions I'm asked most frequently as a pastor is "Why did God allow (some horrific experience in their life) to happen?" God never completely answers the "why" question when it comes to suffering. However, He has given us the promise of heaven to put suffering in perspective. The apostle Paul — who was well acquainted with suffering — wrote confidently:
For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Cor. 4:17-18)
Even though Paul had been shipwrecked, imprisoned, and beaten within an inch of his life on five different occasions, he described those horrific experiences as "momentary" and "light." How could Paul say such a thing? Was the apostle suffering from amnesia? No; his suffering could only be considered "momentary" and "light" when compared to the "eternal weight" of the future God had planned for him.

Heaven is the promise that God will eventually make all things right and that He will one day fulfill our deepest longings. Although God's promise is yet future, it should make a tremendous difference in our lives today. As Alcorn explained, "If we grasp it, [heaven] will shift our center of gravity and radically change our perspective on life."19 This is the hope of heaven—that all of creation will receive what it has long desired: freedom from the crushing oppression of sin.
