Interesting Ways To Find Out God's Will For Your Life Posted: 17 Jan 2018 02:32 AM PST Have you ever scratched your head, like me, wondering how to discern God's will? Wouldn't it be nice if our Father used a megaphone to communicate his plans for us? We'd hear his will, good and clear, wouldn't we? Discerning the desires of God Almighty doesn't always seem that simple, however. Do you suppose we make it harder than necessary? A stroll through the Bible uncovers several instances of "this is my will for you." Call it a megaphone of the written sort – from our faithful Father straight to us. Brand it a light for our path. Following are four suggestions clad with scriptures available to seekers of God's will. Grab the acronym "STAR", and let's consider if perhaps God's will isn't that complicated after all. 1. Search Start with a search through the Bible. Our heavenly Father points the way, oftentimes even using the words "God's will." Take a look at these four instances: This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:40). "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God; that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified" (1 Thessalonians 4:3-6). "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). "For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men" (1 Peter 2:15). A search with key words offers insight into God's will as well. Anxious? In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Phil. 4:6). To forgive or not to forgive? "And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). Afraid? "Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isaiah 41:10). 2. Transformation Transformation comes with a renewed mind. Renewal comes as we soak in the Word of God, learning His ways and understanding our Father's wisdom. "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). 3. Ask Ask God for wisdom. Lean in to the Holy Spirit's counsel. "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). Pray and pray again. "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Ask mature Christians for godly counsel. Sometimes it helps to seek the counsel of godly friends and mentors. They often offer a piece of God's Word we somehow missed. "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel" (Proverbs 12:15). 4. Remember The 10 Commandments – remember these? Given generations ago, God's will remains solid in them:
If it's not yours, it's not yours. Then there are the umbrella New Testament commandments. These two tidy up the law well and usher us into today's age. "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself'" (Matthew 22:37-39). So there it is: a path toward discerning God's will, megaphone-style. When we follow the "STAR" of God's Word, we discover deciphering our Father's will isn't so complicated after all. Father, Like Jesus, I determine to set my will aside this year, gathering and running the race with yours instead. Instill wisdom in my heart and mind. May my ears hear you clearly. May my feet walk steadfastly with the wisdom of your Word. Thank you, Lord. I love you.In Jesus' name, Amen. [written by Kristi Woods] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

PHOTOS: Islamic Cleric Arrested With Female Private Parts, Kidney, Lap in Lagos Posted: 17 Jan 2018 02:02 AM PST The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an acclaimed Islamic cleric, Abdulfatai Kayode, with suspected human parts on Okedumola Street, Alakuko area of the state. Female private parts, a kidney, intestines, a heart, lap, among other human parts, were allegedly found in his apartment. Kayode was apprehended on Tuesday when the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, led operatives to the community. The suspect said the parts were given to him by a herbalist identified simply as Sadiq for safekeeping. He said, "Sadiq aka Ifa gave them to me. We intended to use them for money rituals for a client. A man brought the parts to Ifa too. I don't know where the person lives. I have been an Alfa for 10 years, but I have never prepared any money ritual with human parts before. This is my first time." Sadiq, who lives on Amje Igbeleyi Street, Alakuko, was not at home when the operatives visited his residence. It was learnt that Sadiq was arrested later in the day. Imohimi attributed the arrests to effective community policing. "The recovered human parts, which included female private parts, heart, kidney and lap, were stored in a container mixed with liquid substance," he added. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Lagos Police Arrestes Fake ‘Mad Man’ For Robbery... Live Tortoise, others recovered from him Posted: 17 Jan 2018 01:27 AM PST A suspected robber, Olayinka Ogundamiro, who allegedly disguised as a mentally derailed person, has been apprehended by the police. Ogundamiro, 25, was arrested on Monday at Anifowoshe, Ikeja Along, Lagos, with two bags containing a Tecno phone, a PoS terminal, tokens, a toy gun, a bunch of keys, a live tortoise, among others. It was learnt that residents of the area became suspicious of Ogundamiro's movements around the neighborhood and alerted the police at the MAN Centre division. He reportedly threw away a SIM card found on him as some policemen approached the area to arrest him. Ogundamiro was paraded on Tuesday at the state police command headquarters in Ikeja by the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi. A policeman from the station, who was at the parade, said several calls had come into the suspect's Techno phone, saying he was merely pretending to be mad. In an interview with pressmen, Ogundamiro gave his personal details and insisted that he was not insane. The following conversation ensued: Press: What is your name? Suspect: Olayinka Ogundamiro. Press: How old are you? Suspect: 25. Press: Are you a mad man? Suspect: No. Press: Where did you come from? Suspect: Ekiti State, Nigeria. Press: Where do you live? Suspect: I live at 24 Ayuba, Ajao Estate, Lagos State. The suspect, who also identified himself as a Rastafarian, said the claim that he disguised as a mad man "was a big exaggeration." He, however, spoke incoherently afterwards. The CP, Imohimi, said operatives swooped on Ogundamiro after closely observing him, adding that his display of lunacy was concocted. He said, "A suspected robber who disguised around town as a mad man was caught on Monday aroud 3pm. When he was arrested and searched, the following items were recovered from him: a toy pistol, a PoS terminal, three tokens belonging to First Bank and Zenith Bank, two ID cards, a bunch of keys, a live tortoise, a Tecno phone, bangles, chains, a laptop charger and wristwatches. "He could not give a satisfactory account of himself and why he had all the items in his possession. Investigation is ongoing and he will be charged to court." The CP also said one Gift Munachi, a female member of a syndicate, who allegedly specialised with others in printing fake documents, had been arrested. He said the 32-year-old woman was arrested at her business centre in the Ojo area of the state, based on a credible intelligence report. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Nigerians Want To Boycott Beef Over Herdsmen Heartless Killings? Posted: 17 Jan 2018 12:07 AM PST Nigerians are calling for the boycott of beef as a way of protesting the incessant attacks and killings of innocent citizens by herdsmen in parts of the country. The position was made known in a poll conducted by The Punch The poll, titled Herdsmen killings: Should Nigerians boycott beef? went live at 2.34pm last Thursday and was collated on Tuesday. It asked respondents to indicate Yes if they wanted to boycott beef in protest against the herdsmen's attacks; or No if they didn't support the boycott movement. Those who were indifferent to the matter were also asked to indicate so by clicking Indifferent. Majority of the 2,961 respondents wanted to boycott beef. * 2,252 respondents, signifying 76 percent, chose Yes; * 540 respondents, signifying 18 percent of the total respondents, chose No; * 169 respondents that made up the remaining 6 percent of the respondent population said they were Indifferent. Many of those who supported the boycotting of beef cited the brutality of the attacks blamed on the herdsmen as the main reason. "We should boycott beef. Anybody who sees the children and women that were slaughtered for the sake of beef he/she is eating and still feels the meat he/she is eating is worth human lives, has lost his humanity," one of the respondents, The Greatest, wrote. Amass A wrote: "There is nothing wrong in boycotting cow meat. It is very easy. Many parts of Nigeria before today don't eat cow meat. Southern and North-central people of Nigeria should learn how to stop eating cow meat. They can eat fish, chicken, vegetables and bush meat. If people stop eating cow meat, this madness will come to an end. If they roam with cow for six months without buyers, won't they stop and think on how to return back home or at best think of living a peaceful life?" Dencom wrote, "Yes, as a matter of moral protest against the cattle breeders' blood-spilling rampage, their cows which they value above human life should be boycotted by every Nigerian beef consumer who has a functional conscience. "Buying and consuming the beef sourced from the cows of the killer Fulani herdsmen is like buying and wearing blood diamonds from the former killing fields of Sierra Leone. "And, by the way, beef is not even healthy for human consumption, as we know better today." For some like Lekky Middlebelt, boycotting beef is not only about the herdsmen's trouble but also about health. "Red meat is diabetes," he wrote. Some of those who didn't want beef to be boycotted said the product was too essential in the diet of Nigerians than to stop eating it for any reason. James wrote, "Lailai. Nigerians too love cow meat, cow leg, shaki, cow tail, cow tongue, even cow dick … Nigerians go suffer if cow no dey… The main problem is that successive governments haven't found solutions that suit all… it's easy to blame Fulani herdsmen; but I blame the government for failure to come up with solutions. Buhari sef has failed Nigerians because he doesn't speak when lives are lost… A president must condemn and address the people who voted him in, irrespective of their religion or origin. Mr. President doesn't deserve second term… he needs to retire … That doesn't mean we want thieves again in this country, but we don't want a lame duck president and government either." Tonyraba said, "We do not have to boycott beef for this reason. Abuse does not destroy us. The cows are innocent and useful to Nigerians than the herdsmen. Let us not misdirect our direction. 21st-century solution; RANCHES! RANCHES!! RANCHES!!!" Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari had, on Monday at a meeting in Abuja, appealed to the government and people of Benue State to, "in the name of God," accommodate their countrymen - herdsmen. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Man breaks into police station, retrieves seized bicycle | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 16 Jan 2018 04:45 AM PST A man allegedly broke into a police department's evidence area to take back his bicycle. David Elwin Snow, 37, showed up at the Provo Police Department in Utah, USA, on December 18, asking for his bike, which had been recovered from a man who was arrested in an unrelated issue, reports said. Snow had not reported the bike stolen, however, so police needed to verify that the bike was his, before giving it to him, the Desert News reported. Snow and his brother were allegedly able to see where the bike was stored in an outdoor area, according to a police report. Police said later that night, the men returned to take it back. "This is a first," Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King told the Desert News. "Police didn't know the bike was gone until the man originally accused of stealing the bike was arrested again and told authorities he'd heard that two men had gotten the bicycle out of the police station. "Snow's brother had been bragging that they (the brothers) had 'pulled off the crime of the century and broken into the police department," according to a police report. Snow was then arrested. No charges have been filed in the case, however; the paper said. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
