Nigerian producers can not afford to pay me - Uti Nwachukwu | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 03 Dec 2017 03:37 AM PST Actor and model Uti Nwachukwu, needs little or no introduction in the netertainment industry. Speaking with Sunday Scoop, Uti opened up on why he is hardly seen in movies these days. In his words; "I haven't been in the country, but I am back now. I took a break from acting because it doesn't pay much and I am not ready for that kind of life. I don't want to pretend about it; so, I am only focusing on what brings greater remuneration, which is television presenting and hosting of events. "Acting would just be a hobby because honestly, producers can't afford to pay what I want to earn. But I will not stay away from movies totally; I will pick only exceptional movies instead of featuring in all the ones I am invited to partake in. I don't have so much time for little money. I am not here to pretend all is well. I am in the industry to make money; I am not in the industry to play." On when he will be getting married, he said; "I will marry at the right time and marriage is not a competition. Once I find the right person, nothing will prevent me from getting married. I am an adult and my parents are educated. Therefore, they can't force me to get married," he added. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog

Mr 2kay did not buy his Benz with Eko Hotels money - Manager | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 03 Dec 2017 03:07 AM PST James Silas, manager to singer Mr 2Kay, has debunked claims that the singer used the money allegely paid to him by Eko Hotels to acquire his new Benz. Recall Mr 2Kay, took to IG a few days ago to flaunt his new ride, an act that got many believing his new purchase came about from the money he got from Eko Hotel after he was robbed in one of their rooms, while waiting to perform at Tuface's show, a couple of weeks back. Speaking on this, Silas told Sunday Scoop; "Eko Hotel has not paid any money to Mr. 2kay; we have not even taken them to court. We intend to sue Eko Hotel but the earlier reports that we had already sued them are false, and they did not emanate from our camp. By next week, we will serve them (Eko Hotel) with a court notice." On Burnaboy's involvement with the Robbery; "Concerning Burna Boy, the case is with the police now. Burna has not made himself available to the cops. Until he does that, we do not know the next step. It is the police that usually give us all information pertaining to the case. "The police have invited Mr. 2kay twice and he went to the station where he stated all he knew about what happened. We just want justice to be done so that any other person, who has that kind of evil intention, will think twice before carrying it out." On Mr. 2kay over-estimating the cost of the items that were stolen from him during the robbery. "For those saying that, I will only tell them to check Mr. 2kay's Instagram page. A day before the robbery, he posted a picture of himself in the outfit he was robbed in. He wore the same clothes and the watch that were stolen. Mr. 2kay is into oil business. He is like a sub-contractor to NLNG in Bonny Island, where he is from. That's where he makes most of his money from," he added. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog

Kidnapped 84-yr-old ex-lawmaker killed after family paid ransom | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 03 Dec 2017 02:32 AM PST 84-year old Chief Abbot Ogbobula was abducted by a six-man gang of kidnappers on June 26, from his home at Ihuba village in Ahoada, Rivers State, has been killed. The kidnapper demanded a N20 million ransom and were first given the sum of N200,000 then an additional N500,000 by the relatives of Chief Abbot, but they ended up killing him. . In a horrific twist of fate, a young member of the extended family, Udoma Njoku, sent to deliver the money was abducted and beheaded by the gang. . . Probably dissatisfied with the amount they got when compared with the ransom demanded, the gang murdered the octogenarian and buried him in a shallow grave in Degema creek, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. . . Through good detective work, the members of the gang were arrested on September 17. They are, Boma Thompson, 25, Chief Emenike Mathias, 47, Goodnews Nwoka, 33, Daniel ThankGod, 27, and Franklin Dokubo. . . The police commissioner explained that one of the arrested suspects, Chief Emenike Mathias, allegedly arranged the abduction of the octogenarian because of chieftaincy issue in the community. . . One of them, Daniel ThankGod, took the police to the place where the octogenarian was buried at Degema creek. The decomposing body was exhumed and deposited at University of Port Harcourt Mortuary. Whoopi Goldberg says men are allowed to hit women in certain situations | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 03 Dec 2017 02:22 AM PST Hollywood veteran Whoopi Goldberg is of the notion that men are actaully allowed to hit women in certain situations. She made this known on her show 'The View' while discussing with her co-host about a man who knocked a woman out after the latter first hit him. In Whoopi's words; "If you hit somebody you cannot be sure you're not going to get hit back," the actress said. Her co-host of course tried to disagree but Whoopi was adamant citing an example of a little boy who has been asked never to hit women but has his little sister continually hit him. "You have to teach women; do not, do not put your hands on anybody." She added: "I know I'm going to catch a lot of hell and I don't care. You have to teach women, do not live with the idea that men still have this chivalry thing still with them. Don't assume that's still in play. So don't be surprised if you hit a man and he hits you back. I'm sorry, you hit somebody, they hit you back, don't be surprised."

Many Yoruba producers do not fear God - Lere Paimo | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 03 Dec 2017 02:22 AM PST Veteran Yoruba actor Lere Paimo, popularly known as Eda has opened up on his absence from the movie world. Read his interview below; You have not been active in movies in recent times? I am still acting. We just finished a series that will be aired for a year by Galaxy Television. The drama series is currently running on the station, precisely on Thursday by 8:30pm. We are not resting, because we have already completed the series. Currently, we are warming up to embark on another drama series . The title is Omi Ogbon and it is full of wisdom as the name implies. I derive joy in producing works that will boost knowledge, affect lives positively and promote culture and values. How did you get this offer? The owner of Galaxy TV, Chief Ojo, who is a good friend of mine, gave me the offer. For someone to have given a year offer is not ordinary, but a true love. He even told us to bring a proposal for another one year series. So, you can see that I am not retiring. Some people have suggested that you retire from acting since you are hardly seen in the mainstream filmmaking? You are right. Despite the fact that I hardly feature in the mainstream these days, that does not mean that I have retired or quit acting. I can never quit; this is my calling and I will continue to act until God's time. I turned down offers to feature in some works because some of them or the stories had no meat. How do you mean by they lacked meat? Some of the jobs did not have good messages and lacked cultural values. Except for Kunle Afolayan, who has good manners, he is the only person that I would not hesitate to work with if he calls me. Others don't fear God and they don't want to reckon with elders and this is why we have kept them in their space. But it was reported that you were deliberately sidelined because you were causing problems in the association. Is the report true? That is not true. Meanwhile, I am not the only person that is sidelined; Baba Wande and a couple of elders in the industry are also sidelined, because of association issues. The situation became messier when they left the indigenous association, the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP), to form the Theatre and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN). I made them realise that I would not leave ANTP that the late Ogunde founded. This is why they said they would not feature us again. So far, I have no regrets being sidelined from acting for about six years. I thank God for His faithfulness, because despite all these, I have not turned a beggar nor gone hungry. God has not turned against us. I have every reason to thank God, because their plans didn't work. I have not lost my place as a veteran in the industry. Though I may not be wealthy. I appreciate God for what I have been able achieve in this profession and the good things He will still do for me. What is your take on ANTP? The association still exists and is formidable. I foresee an association that would have a selfless leader and well-committed members. Everyone needs to check themselves and ask questions whether what they are doing is right or wrong. We need to remove sentiments or selfish interest if we desire to let the association grow, as well as to leave a worthy legacy behind. You travelled abroad recently. What informed the trip? Contrary to the rumours doing the rounds that I went for a life-saving trip. I am hale and hearty. I was healthy and sound before I left the country and even when I returned, nothing has changed. Mere looking at me, did you see any sign of illness? No, I don't care about what they say. I thank God for my life and how far He has brought me. Someone asked me to come and celebrate my birthday in America, because I had been celebrating it in Nigeria. I obliged and embarked on the trip. In fact, I really enjoyed my stay. Fuji star, Obesere was the one who played at all the events. From New Jersey, we went to Maryland, Atlanta and New York. They celebrated me in a big way and I felt honoured and returned home peacefully. How would you describe your life as one of the living legends in the acting profession? As I said earlier, I thank God for everything and I will continue to appreciate Him. My greatest joy is that I have been able to leave a legacy for the younger generation. Irrespective of what has happened, my footprints are indelible. Above all, I am still thanking God for the rare grace. I have enjoyed an uncommon grace from Him. My works are still speaking for me. Awards are countless. National awards too have added feathers to my cap. I remember when my great friend, fondly called Ebora Owu, a former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, gave me a national award, Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), we both ate orogbo, bitter cola and chatted after the ceremony. If you look back from where you started from, would you say that you are fulfilled? Yes, I am. If one is able to cater for his family through his calling, he should be described as fulfilled. All my children are graduates, except my last born, who is still in higher institution. I also have a house of my own and a car. So what else can someone desire in life? I am only trusting God for additional blessings and long life in sound health. What is your relationship with Jide Kosoko and others after the whole court case? I have maintained a cordial relationship despite the fact that they mandated others not to feature us in films again. As an elder, I maintain my space, because it doesn't move us an inch. They will even be troubled with guilty conscience, because they are also hearing about what God is doing for us. In fact, they must have seen that God did not abandon us. Personally, I bear no grudge against any of them. Take it or leave it, Jide is my son; I don't have any grudge against him. He and his associate still greet and accord me respect anytime we meet. We are not fighting at all. So far, would you say your popular movie, Ogbori Elemoso gave you what you expected financially? I thank God so far, and it is time this movie would bear a bountiful fruit. A popular monarch in the country is ready to promote the work in a new dimension. He is planning to come up with a massive project that would involve both national and international faces in the movie. What distinguishes you as a veteran actor? I have nothing special. I just see everything that I have become and whatever I have passed through as a divine grace. I am not exceptional, because those that are better than me are no more. The only thing I feel I have and is special to me is that I keep records. I have about six diaries, which I have been using for six decades now. It will interest you that I have a full record of the cost and spending of my popular movie, Ogbori Elemoso. The entire spending on the production is documented and you would laugh to see the names of some popular actors in my diaries. What is your take on the film industry today, precisely the Yoruba movie industry? It is good that the industry is witnessing a tremendous growth, but we must not forget our root and the principles guiding acting. The Yoruba movie is special and we actors and stakeholders must not derail from the philosophy of our founding fathers. This aspect of film making is to project our cultural values and preach morals to the society. But the reverse is the case, especially what we see on screen today. Even the titles of some movies are nothing to write about. The mode of dressing of actors too is suspect. For instance, people hardly notice women who use beads in those days. Many young women nowadays derive joy flaunting waist beads in public. It is time we went back to our root and cultivate the habit of producing quality films that will impact lives positively. Though, my opinion may not count, because I have been blacklisted, my take will be on record. It is not as if all films are bad, but the good ones are very few. We need to be conscious of our film productions, because we are like a mirror to the society and we can easily influence minds with what we offer people. Atiku Says America Barred Buhari For 15 Years Over Sharia Posted: 03 Dec 2017 12:32 AM PST Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was barred from the United States for 15 years due to his religious views. Buhari had, at a seminar organised by the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria in August 2001, said, "God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country. I will continue to show openly and inside me, the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria."Atiku, who was one of the notable voices that opposed Buhari at the time, said Buhari was barred from travelling to the US for 15 years as a result of his position on the Sharia issue. Atiku was quoted as saying this during an interview with Dele Momodu, which was part of his weekly column titled, Pendulum. The former vice-president was responding to a question on why he avoided travelling to the US. Atiku stated, "It is the sole prerogative of America to determine who they want in their country or not. I'm not running away from America. I applied but wasn't issued a visa. However, they did not decline me categorically. "They've only said my application is going through an administrative process. This is not peculiar to me. For about 15 years, Buhari could not enter America on account of religious considerations. "The current Indian Prime Minister, Modi, suffered the same fate for years. Today, he is being accorded a red carpet treatment in America. I fly to different parts of the world, including Europe. If America wanted me, it would be so easy for them to reach out to their allies…" Your claim, a fictive concoction, Presidency replies ex-VP But the Presidency, in its reaction on Saturday, described the claim by Atiku that Buhari could not enter the US for 15 years as a "fictive concoction." The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja. Adesina said it was mind-boggling that a person of Atiku's calibre, who should know the truth, was spreading the lies. The statement read, "This fictive concoction, being spread as truth, is mind-boggling, coming from a former number two man of Nigeria, who should know the truth. "At no time was President Buhari, as a private person, ever forbidden from entering any country in the world. "Rather, the rest of the world has always held Muhammadu Buhari as a man of sterling qualities, strong on integrity, transparency and accountability. The same testimony is still borne of the Nigerian President by many world leaders today. "It is curious that former VP Abubakar had been asked why he had not visited America for over a decade, something that had been a stubborn fact dogging his footsteps. Instead of answering directly, he begged the question, saying Buhari also had been disallowed from entering the same country for 15 years, before becoming president. "We hereby make it resoundingly clear that what the former vice-president said only exists in the realm of his imagination. "If he has issues to settle with the American authorities, he should do so, rather than clutch at a straw." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog
Raped Libya returnees pregnant | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 03 Dec 2017 12:27 AM PST Some of the female victims, who were recently evacuated from Libya, are said to be pregnant after being raped by their captors while in detention in Libya, just as some Nigerians still in Libya are said to have spurned efforts to bring them back to Nigeria. A member of the Edo States Task Force on Libya Returnees, Comrade Solomon Okoduwa, informed Sunday Tribune at the weekend that the victims were subjected to dehumanising experience by their captors. He disclosed that about 560 Nigerians are expected to be repatriated into the country from Libya this week. According to him, the expected Libya returnees consist of two groups of about 280 people each. He gave the expected date for the arrival of the Nigerians as Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Edo State has the highest number of Nigerians, who are being repatriated from Libya, with indigenes of the state consisting about 70 per cent of the returnees. He stated that about 780 Libya returnees, who were indigenes of Edo State, had been brought to the state upon their arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. He said that the state government was solely responsible for the rehabilitation and training of the Libya returnees, calling on local and international organisation to assist the government in rehabilitating the Libya returnees. He said: "Apart from taking care of the returnees from the moment they land in Lagos, Edo State government pays children returnees N10,000; adults get N20, 000, while pregnant women get N25,000 each within the first three months of their arrival. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog

Why We Need Jesus Every Day: 11 Verses To Experience His Presence Posted: 02 Dec 2017 11:02 PM PST Not a day goes by that we're not in need of God's grace and peace. Every morning we need His Spirit to fill us again, to strengthen us for what's ahead. Every day we need a fresh word that He speaks to our hearts, to help keep our focus on what's more important. Trying to run this race of life without Jesus will do nothing but drain us dry. And just like the people of Israel had to gather Manna fresh every morning in the wilderness, so it is with us. Every day He made sure it met their needs, they were satisfied, they were nourished, they were cared for. And they never lacked, for God's resources never run dry. That's what He does for us every single morning. Sometimes we miss it, out of busyness or stress. We try to get things going too fast, spinning wildly, trying to get it all done, and sometimes we might start to forget what matters most. But even for those times, His grace is there. He waits for us. His patience and peace never run dry. Each day, His miracles are all around, right before our eyes. We just have to choose to look for them, to pick up His provision, and stay close to His Presence. Jesus covers our past, secures our future, and gives us all that we need for this day too. He promises that as we come to Him, and allow His truths to nourish and saturate our lives, we will be satisfied. We will have all that we need to live abundantly and freely in this life. Don't waste another moment trying to do life all on your own strength. We were never meant to carry the load and burdens that we face daily; we will always fall short. But we can live in and through His power. It's a daily choice. May God help us to choose wisely. 11 Verses to Help Us Live in the Power of His Word and Experience the Presence of Jesus: Jesus is the Bread of Life – "Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty'" (John 6:35). Jesus offers us Living Water – "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water" (John 4:10). Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life – "Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Jesus is our Savior and Lord – "For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:9-11). Jesus is our Rock – "For they drank from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ" (1 Corinthians 10:4). Jesus is our Redeemer – "And as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last will take His stand on the earth" (Job 19:25). Jesus is the Light of the world – "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12). Jesus is our Peace – "For he himself is our peace…" (Ephesians 2:14). Jesus is the Beginning and the End – "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End" (Revelation 22:13). Jesus is our Deliverer – "And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus delivers us from the wrath to come" (1 Thessalonians 1:10). Jesus is the Good Shepherd – "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep" (John 10:11). All this…and still so much more. He is Mighty. He is Worthy. And He rules over all. Don't ever doubt that He's not there for you, or that He doesn't care about what you're walking through. He loves you more than you could ever imagine, and promises to be with you, always. Jesus. The One who sets us free. Dear God, Sometimes life can feel hurried and stressed. Help us not to allow the enemy to steer us away from you. For it's in those times, that we know we need you most. Give us the strength and wisdom we need to come to you daily, instead of trying to do life all on our own. We thank you for the gift of Jesus, who is able to meet our deepest needs. We thank you for your Holy Spirit who is able to refresh us deep within our souls. Thank you Lord, that you are enough, you are more than enough. In Jesus' Name, Amen. 5 Interesting Things Your Eating Habit Says About You Posted: 02 Dec 2017 11:02 PM PST Have you ever wondered exactly what the way you eat says about you? You honestly can learn a lot about a person by just observing the way they eat. Jumia Food shares 5 things your eating habit says about you. Being a Slow Eater The slow eater is almost always the last person to finish his/her food when everyone else has long been done with theirs. Some psychologists who specialize in food behaviours believe that this food behaviour is synonymous with people who like to be in control and know how to appreciate life. However, these psychologists do admit that sometimes people may eat slowly because of low energy or a sad mood, as mood is known to affect our eating rate. They also add that though slow eaters might many times feel pressured to catch up to everyone else, there are actually some real health benefits to being a slow eater, some of which include decreased energy intake, increased satiety and higher pleasantness ratings of meals. Being a Fast Eater Much like the name implies, the fast eater tends to 'barrel through meals', finishing his/her meal before everyone else has even finished half of their meals. Fast eaters are generally believed to have developed a habit of fighting for seconds while growing up, and away from the table, fast eaters tend to be ambitious, goal-oriented and open to new experiences. However, they also have a tendency to be impatient and are more prone to weight gain because one of the major health risks that fast eaters have to deal with is weight gain. It is therefore important for fast eaters to always consider how quickly they are consuming food and make the necessary adjustments from time to time. Being a Picky Eater This kind of eater is more likely to turn down a chance to taste unfamiliar cuisine, and might hardly ever grow out of their childhood food related likes and dislikes. Also, the picky eater is more likely to ask that their food be served without sauce or with dressing on the side. Generally, away from the table, picky eaters are a little neurotic, typically more reluctant than willing to try new things or step out of their comfort zone, and constantly have to deal with anxiety and anxiety-related issues. Being an Adventurous Eater This kind of eater is basically the opposite of the picky eater. He/she is more adventurous and willing to try new things when it comes to food, and this reflects in his/her life away from the table. Adventurous eaters tend to be thrill seekers and risk takers. They're open to trying new things outside of their experience and comfort zone, and are explorers with a one-of-a-kind approach to life. However, they should be careful not to over-do it and to also understand that not everyone can be as adventurous as they are, they should thus be careful not to pressure others into being as open as they are. Being an Isolationist The Isolationist approaches the plate methodically, and typically finishes one food item on the plate before moving on to the next. This kind of eater is generally a very detail-oriented person away from the table, and is sure to thoroughly think things through before taking a step. He/She is also a very careful person and can be very disciplined as well as very stubborn. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog
