Emir Sanusi Blames ‘Briefcase Billionaires’ For Nigeria's Economic Woes Posted: 24 Nov 2017 03:39 AM PST The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Thursday in Kano identified the emergence of "briefcase billionaires" and illiteracy as the major factors stifling the economic growth and development of the country. Sanusi, while speaking at the end of a three-day Northern Regional Conference on Security, Justice and Development: Effective implementation of intervention measures,' organised by Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, noted that when people get wealth they did not work for, "what follows would be disastrous for the nation." "When people just get wealth they didn't work for, what that signifies was that, many injustices were permeating round many quarters of the society, meaning there is something wrong in the system that was put in place for a very long time of our national history." He queried, "How many of our briefcase billionaires can show you their business plants and the number of people they employ in their companies? The companies are non-existent in the first place. So, what are we talking about?" Sanusi argued that the more the society produces briefcase billionaires, the more the masses would get more impoverished. "We need to build an economy that looks at people; not that which further creates gaps, unimagined gaps between people. You cannot call this capitalism either. It is through such kind of arrangements that end up in creating an insecure society. We all created the insecurity we are suffering from. Justice is one of the key and fundamental issues that can address our predicaments," the royal father emphasised. Sanusi also identified illiteracy as another factor accounting for economic woes. He argued that, when people were left without education, what would follow would be disturbing and devastating. He said, "Our children are suffering from malnutrition, illiteracy; our women are suffering from poor health care delivery. We created our insecurity ourselves. We have nobody to blame but ourselves. So, whenever we talk of poverty we need to look at the nature of our economy. We need to ask ourselves the kind of society we are producing." In his remarks, the Chairman, PRAWA Board of Trustees, Mr. Alabo Gabriel, said, "The purpose of the conference is to provide an efficient and effective platform for evaluating the current security, justice and development challenges of northern Nigeria, including the issue of insurgency in the North-East." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Ex-SGF Anyim & Wife In "Trouble" Over Centenary Project's N13.1Billion Posted: 24 Nov 2017 03:14 AM PST Where is the over N13b cash raised for the Centenary Project? This is part of the questions detectives are asking former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim and his wife. Anyim, his wife, 20 firms, others are being probed by the EFCC for alleged fraud in the big project. Former President Goodluck Jonathan is said to have disregarded the opinions of former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Bala Mohammed and former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) on the project. According to a document, which The Nation stumbled on, 37 investors subscribed to the project, which was floated to mark the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates in 1914 by the late Sir Frederick Lord Lugard, the first Governor-General of Nigeria. In all, $80, 750,000 (N13, 162, 250,000 then) was paid by investors. Precious Integrated Company Limited owned by Mrs. Anyim was given 5% equity worth N815m for rendering services in kind, according to a document The Nation stumbled on. The land acquired for the project was 1, 264, 78 hectares and N1, 410, 178, 599.59 earmarked as compensation for 3,868 land owners, who got N1, 234, 747, 076, 000 paid as compensation; N697, 015, 863 is yet to be paid to land owners The document said: "Anyim was the SGF and the coordinator of the Centenary City Project, which was meant to be privately owned. Any interested investor was asked to pay $5million equity. "Former President Goodluck Jonathan, through the then FCT Minister, approved the allocation of 1, 264, 78 hectares for the city. But the FCT used the allocation to acquire 5% equity in the city and the premium of the land was put at about N8billion. "Investigation however revealed that the wife of the ex-SGF was allocated 5% equity(worth N815million) in the Centenary City Plc. Anyim's wife owns Precious Integrated Limited, which is managing the shares. "This company didn't contribute in monetary terms but it was given 5% equity. When we invited Anyim's wife and others, they said the company ran some services during the Centenary Celebration and these services were quantified and converted to $5million, which represents 5% equity." Anyim's wife's company could not ascertain the services rendered. Besides, there was no agreement that the 'so-called services' would be converted to equity in the Centenary City Plc. The EFCC invited Anyim's wife butshe could not explain the services offered the Federal Government. She was, however, granted bail. "Some other firms that paid contributions for the Centenary City were firms that enjoyed contracts from the N58, 146,983,677.85 Ecological Funds in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation during Anyim's tenure," the document said. One of the 20 key firms was Foundation Years Limited, which alone received a net payment of N10,308,017,838.85 from the Ecological Funds between 2014 and 2015. The account opening for the project had the address of the Office of the SGF. "There are evidence of suspected fraud, money laundering and abuse of office which the former SGF, wife, 20 firms and others should be investigated for," according to the document. On the Centenary City Project, the document indicated that 37 investors, including foreigners and overseas companies, subscribed by paying $80, 750,000 (N13, 162, 250,000 then). The total land acquired for the project was 1, 264, 78 hectares and N1, 410, 178, 599.59 earmarked as compensation for 3,868 land owners. "So far, N1, 234, 747, 076, 000 was paid as compensation, leaving a balance of N697, 015, 863 yet to be paid. We have been able to interact with some of the beneficiaries. "Investigation showed that two-thirds of the companies/ individuals paid cash of $5million each. But our team discovered that weeds have taken over the Centenary City. We have invited top officials of Centenary City Plc for interaction on the whereabouts of the payments made by local and foreign investors and why the project has not taken off. "The city was also granted the status of a Free Trade Zone by Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority ( NEPZA). A former Managing Director of NEPZA was invited for questioning on how he came about the status, especially the criteria used. He said he acted on the directive of a former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. At the appropriate time, we might interact with the ex-minister. But EFCC detectives also discovered that the opinions of a former Minister of FCT, Sen. Bala Mohammed and a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke(SAN) were ignored by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. They also detected that many people in Jonathan government had personal interest in the project rather than national interest. The document added: "The ex-President (Jonathan) acting in complete disregard of the advisory opinions of the former FCT Minister and ex-AGF approved the request for some components of the the project by Executive Fiat. There is a clear case of people in government having personal interest and not national interest. "To support this opinion, the government office became the identified business address of the centenary with all the paraphernalia of official involvement for a purely private project." As at the time of filing this report, the former SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim has been released on bail by the EFCC. There are two sureties, but his passport has been seized and he is expected to report at the EFCC whenever he is invited. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Mnangagwa assures Mugabe of safety in Zimbabwe | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 Nov 2017 02:28 AM PST Incoming Zimbabwe leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, assured former President Robert Mugabe, he and his family would be safe in the country, state media said on Friday. Mnangagwa gave the assurance today, when the two men spoke for the first time since he returned home this week, according to the State-owned media, The Herald newspaper. Also, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), an intergovernmental organisation, said on Friday that it was ready to work closely with Zimbabwe's new leader Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government. Mnangagwa was sworn in as Zimbabwean president on Friday following the resignation of Robert Mugabe, who had ruled Zimbabwe since independence in 1980. Similarly, Mugabe was granted immunity from prosecution, sources close to the negotiations said on Thursday. According to the source, Mugabe was assured that his safety would be protected in his home country as part of a deal that led to his resignation. Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe for close to four decades but stepped down on Tuesday after the army seized power and the ruling party turned against him. Mugabe led Zimbabwe from independence in 1980 but stepped down on Tuesday after the army seized power and the ruling party turned against him. A government source said Mugabe, who is 93, told negotiators he wanted to die in Zimbabwe and had no plans to live in exile. "It was very emotional for him and he was forceful about it," said the source, who is not authorised to speak on the details of the negotiated settlement. "For him it was very important that he be guaranteed security to stay in the country…although that will not stop him from traveling abroad when he wants to or has to," the source said. Mugabe's rapid downfall was triggered by a battle to succeed him that pitted Mnangagwa against Mugabe's wife Grace. Reuters culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Drink-Driving Policeman Kills Fresh Graduate In Lagos Posted: 24 Nov 2017 02:19 AM PST Air of mourning pervaded Atunrase Estate, Gbagada, Lagos State, on Thursday following the death of a fresh graduate. It was learnt that the victim, identified as Adelowo, was crushed to death around 8pm on Wednesday at the Gbagada bus stop area of Lagos. The accident was reportedly caused by the driver of a police van with number plate, RRS 317 LA. The driver, a policeman, was said to be drunk. An account of the incident stated that the speeding van was heading to Oshodi when the policeman reportedly lost the control of the vehicle and veered off the expressway to the service lane, crashing into the victim, who was waiting by the roadside to board a bus. "The vehicle responsible for the death was driven by a drunken policeman who meandered from the expressway to the service lane jumping over the median distinguishing the two lanes. Number plate, RRS 317 LA," a Twitter user, @Adavizealao, wrote. He said the policeman had been arrested. Another Twitter user, Joba, described the incident as tragic and urged the police not to brush the case under the carpet. "This is so sad. I hope the arrest is not just to keep him (policeman) safe until the heat has gone down," the poster said. But a mechanic in the area, who identified himself only as Gabriel, said a siren attachment on the police vehicle fell on the road. He said the policeman, while trying to dodge the attachment, hit an oncoming car, which lost control and swerved to the other side of the road. He stated that the car hit Adelowo, who was by the roadside, but pointed out that the recklessness of the police driver caused the crash. He said, "There were other policemen in that pick up van. They should have cautioned the driver. He was drunk. He rammed the vehicle into the car while he was trying to avoid the fallen attachment. The other car swerved to the other side of the road and hit the man who was standing by the roadside. He died on the spot. "He lived on the estate and he just finished from a university. It was a fence by the roadside that stopped the car. The policeman-driver caused the accident and must be punished." The gate of the victim's parents' residence was locked when our correspondent visited the estate. A neighbour, who spoke to Punch on condition of anonymity, said the family had temporarily moved to their family house in Ibafo, Ogun State. She said the deceased was not living with the family and had come on a visit on that day. She said, "While he was returning home in the evening, his brother accompanied him to Gbagada bus stop. He was waiting at the bus stop to board a bus when the incident happened. "He just graduated from the university. His death was painful. People cried uncontrollably. The driver of the police vehicle had been arrested." When contacted, the father of the deceased said he did not have details of the incident, and declined further comments. "I was not at the scene. I can't say anything," he said. The Lagos Acting Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said the policeman was not drunk. He, however, added that the police had commenced investigation into the accident. He said, "First of all, the policeman was not drunk. It was a case of a fatal accident. There was a trailer moving on the expressway. As the policeman attempted to overtake the trailer, another car came from nowhere and rammed into a Camry. The Camry car veered off the road and hit a pedestrian and a stationary car by the roadside. "However, the matter is being handled at the Anthony Police Station and at the end of the day, the outcome of investigation will be made known to the public. If anyone is found culpable, the person will be charged accordingly. All the people involved in the accident are being questioned." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Oscar Pistorius' sentence increased to 13 years and 5 months | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 Nov 2017 01:58 AM PST South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal on Friday increased Oscar Pistorius's murder sentence to 13 years and five months after the state argued that his original sentence of six years was "shockingly lenient." The athlete was not in court for Friday's ruling where the court handed down the minimum 15-year sentence prescribed for murder in South Africa, and subtracted the years Pistorius had already served in jail. "The sentence imposed... in respect of murder is set aside and substituted with the following: the respondent is sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 13 years and five months," the judge said, reading out the court's decision. The athlete was originally convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to five years in jail. That conviction was increased to murder by the Supreme Court in December 2015 and his sentence was increased to six years by trial judge Thokozile Masipa. A Steenkamp family spokesperson said justice had prevailed with the increased sentence. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Clerk fired after she beat burglar during robbery | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 Nov 2017 01:58 AM PST A North Carolina store clerk said she was fired after she attacked a burglar with a baseball bat on Tuesday — a move her employer said violated company policy. The clerk, Juwan Harris, said a man entered the Circle K convenience store in Raleigh where she works, told her that he had a gun and robbed the store. The suspect, later identified as 51-year-old William Winston, according to police, allegedly attempted to flee the scene, but, Harris said, she went after him with a baseball bat. "I feared for my life. He held customers hostage and was pushing and harassing my customers. That was my thing," she told ABC affiliate WTVD on Tuesday. "He could've come back and did it again."She said she hit the alleged robber and held him until police arrived. "I took the baseball bat and hit him in the back of the head. He fell, got back up, and and when he got back up, I kept hitting him in the head with the bat," Harris said.Winston was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and released into police custody. Police said he took off with cigarettes and money and faces charges of common law robbery. Harris, who left the scene without physical harm, lost her job over the incident, but she said she stands by her decision.
Circle K did not return WTVD's request for comment, but it's not unusual for retailers to have such policies. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Seriously? Maina Still Receiving Salary Posted: 24 Nov 2017 01:44 AM PST Mr. Mohammed Katu, the legal counsel for the former Chairman, Presidential Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, told the House of Reps on Thursday that his client was still receiving salaries despite the report that he had been dismissed from service. He also claimed that Maina treated official files up to last month (October). Maina was not present as an ad hoc committee of the House opened its investigative hearing into the disappearance and reinstatement of the fugitive into the public service in Abuja. The committee is chaired by a member of the APC from Kano State, Mr. Aliyu Madaki. Katu said his client was not dismissed from service and that he only sought judicial intervention in 2013 when he realised that there was a move to dismiss him from service. He added that while the litigation was in progress, Maina "disappeared" from Nigeria because his life was in danger. Katu said, "He was still working as of June 13th, 2013 after the purported dismissal. He was writing to the Minister of Finance (former Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala); so, it is not true that he was dismissed." According to Katu, his client was still receiving his salaries and emoluments "and he got piles of files to treat up to a month ago." He added, "Maina is still receiving salaries. 23 files were sent to him in his capacity as acting director, even while he was absent. Maina has continued to work even after he was dismissed." However, when a member of the committee, Mrs. Ayo Omidiran, quoted a 2014 letter Maina wrote to the Federal Civil Service Commission, pleading for a review of his dismissal, Katu insisted that his client was still in service. Omidiran stated, "We are not children here, and let the impression not be created that those of us sitting on this committee do not know what we are doing. "If Maina wrote to the FCSC to appeal for a review of his dismissal, why would you be saying that he was not dismissed? But, Katu replied, "There are things we have with us and we will submit them when next we come." When asked again, Katu insisted that as far as his client was concerned, he was still in the service. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Guard Collects N3,000... Aids Assailant To Attack Family Posted: 24 Nov 2017 01:44 AM PST A guard in the Isheri area of Lagos State has been arrested by the police for allegedly aiding an attack on a widow, Comfort Isong, and her daughter, Emmanuela Isong. The unnamed guard was said to have collected N3,000 from the masked attacker, who subsequently stormed the victims' residence on Oluwakemi Street, Isheri Oke, around 2am. He was said to have stabbed Comfort and her daughter in parts of the body. As he fled the scene, some residents responded to a distress call from Emmanuela and went after the assailant, while others rushed the victims to a hospital. It was gathered that the assailant, who was arrested and identified as John, was a resident of the area. He reportedly declined to open up to the police on why he attacked the victims. The 54-year-old widow told Punch that John did not request any valuable from them. She said, "Around 2am on Tuesday, November 15, my daughter and I were sleeping when we heard a bang on our door. As I opened the door to check what was happening, a masked man brought out a knife and said he had come to kill us. "Before I could utter a word, he pounced on me and stabbed me. My daughter rushed out of her room. She tried to unmask him, but he overpowered her and stabbed her at five different parts of the body. He escaped through the fence." Emmanuella said the suspect was tracked down at a neighbouring street, and was handed over to the police at the Isheri division. She said, "He did not demand money or property. He only shouted that he had come to finish us. When he noticed that some neighbours were coming to our apartment, he escaped through the fence where he came from. "When he was caught and unmasked, he turned to be John who lives in the neighbourhood. He is a drummer in a church in our community. We later learnt from the police that he paid N3,000 to a guard to gain access into the community." It was learnt that the guard and John were in custody of the Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad. The Lagos State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, promised to make enquiries on the case and get back with comments. He said, "However, if the case has been reported to the police, everybody should await the outcome of the investigation." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
BREAKING: Atiku Decamps From APC Posted: 24 Nov 2017 01:09 AM PST Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has defected from the All Progressives Congress. Atiku, in a statement he personally signed on Friday, recalled how he joined the ruling party in 2013. Read his full statement below: "On the 19th of December, 2013, I received members of the All Progressives Congress at my house in Abuja. They had come to appeal to me to join their party after my party, the Peoples Democratic Party, had become factionalized as a result of the special convention of August 31, 2013. "The fractionalization of the Peoples Democratic Party on August 31, 2013 had left me in a situation where I was, with several other loyal party members, in limbo, not knowing which of the parallel executives of the party was the legitimate leadership. "It was under this cloud that members of the APC made the appeal to me to join their party, with the promise that the injustices and failure to abide by its own constitution which had dogged the then PDP, would not be replicated in the APC and with the assurance that the vision other founding fathers and I had for the PDP could be actualized through the All Progressives Congress. "It was on the basis of this invitation and the assurances made to me that I, being party-less at that time, due to the fractionalization of my party, accepted on February 2, 2014, the hand of fellowship given to me by the All Progressives Congress. "On that day, I said 'it is the struggle for democracy and constitutionalism and service to my country and my people that are driving my choice and my decision" to accept the invitation to join the All Progressives Congress. "Like you, I said that because I believed that we had finally seen the beginnings of the rebirth of the new Nigeria of our dreams which would work for all of us, old and young. "However, events of the intervening years have shown that like any other human and like many other Nigerians, I was fallible. "While other parties have purged themselves of the arbitrariness and unconstitutionality that led to fractionalization, the All Progressives Congress has adopted those same practices and even gone beyond them to institute a regime of a draconian clampdown on all forms of democracy within the party and the government it produced. "Only last year, a governor produced by the party wrote a secret memorandum to the president which ended up being leaked. In that memo, he admitted that the All Progressives Congress had "not only failed to manage expectations of a populace that expected overnight 'change' but has failed to deliver even mundane matters of governance". "Of the party itself, that same governor said 'Mr. President, Sir Your relationship with the national leadership of the party, both the formal (NWC) and informal (Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso), and former Governors of ANPP, PDP (that joined us) and ACN, is perceived by most observers to be at best frosty. Many of them are aggrieved due to what they consider total absence of consultations with them on your part and those you have assigned such duties.' "Since that memorandum was written up until today, nothing has been done to reverse the treatment meted out to those of us invited to join the All Progressives Congress on the strength of a promise that has proven to be false. If anything, those behaviours have actually worsened. "But more importantly, the party we put in place has failed and continues to fail our people, especially our young people. How can we have a federal cabinet without even one single youth. "A party that does not take the youth into account is a dying party. The future belongs to young people. "I admit that I and others who accepted the invitation to join the APC were eager to make positive changes for our country that we fell for a mirage. Can you blame us for wanting to put a speedy end to the sufferings of the masses of our people?" He stated, "After due consultation with my God, my family, my supporters and the Nigerian people whom I meet in all walks of life Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa" has resigned from the APC. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Many of them are aggrieved due to what they consider total absence of consultations with them on your part and those you have assigned such duties." culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

4 Ways Hope Can Get You Through What You're Facing Posted: 23 Nov 2017 10:49 PM PST Right now it's highly likely that you're facing some problem or difficulty that seems impossible to overcome. I've been there. For that matter, I am there. But if there's anything I've learned about faith, it's that Jesus is in the business of hope. Here are four reflections on hope and why it's such a critical part of faith. Here's how hope can change your life: 1. FAITH IS HOPE When the author of the biblical book Hebrews explained faith, he spoke of hope. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1 ESV). As Christians, we do not physically see Jesus. We also do not know when he will return to earth. But we believe (have faith) in him. We have a conviction about that which we cannot see. Ask yourself: Has God called you to a purpose? Now ask yourself: Do you believe in Jesus' work in your life and the world? If your answer is "yes" to both of those things, then really it shouldn't be hard to take the next step: To hope in what Jesus will do in your life. Have hope that God will see through his purpose in your life. You may not have faith in yourself, but you can have faith in Jesus working through you. Faith is hope. And it can have incredible power in our lives. 2. HOPE IS MAGICAL: IT'S MIRACULOUS Hope is magical; or better put, it's miraculous. It changes our perspective and it changes lives. Consider for a moment one the great problems of our world: extreme poverty, the fact that there are millions of people around the world trying to survive on less than a $1.25 per day. Now consider that the developing world is full of people with tenacity and strength who lack the resources to make their dreams reality. They need hope. They need opportunities. Those of us with resources can offer them hope. Something as simple as our purchasing and donating decisions can change lives. When we give of our time, money, or resources, we have the opportunity to watch Jesus' work in the world. That act of faith should give us hope. Each of us have a chance to see God at work, to put our hope into action. And doing so can offer us hope in return. 3. HAVING HOPE FOR SOMEONE ELSE CAN PERSONALLY GIVE YOU HOPE The incredible thing about offering someone hope is that doing so also offers you hope. It makes you believe in what the person you're helping is yet to see. It changes the way you feel about the state of that person's life, and in doing so, causes you to think about what hope God has in store for you. Having hope for someone else gives you a small glimpse at God's eternal perspective. You briefly see the connections God does: how he has used you to help someone else, and how he will likely use someone else to help you. And it doesn't take long to get from there to believing in what God can do in your life. 4. HOPE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THIS GENERATION Jesus has great opportunities in store for this generation. He is the hope that Hebrews 11 speaks about. It is his work through the Spirit that we're anticipating and desire to fully realize. It is Jesus' second coming that we wait for. But it is his work now that we live for. As Christians, we are convicted that Jesus was resurrected from death and is working even now. We believe in what he is yet to do, and we should do everything we can to be a part of it. In hope, there is something magical that ignites our spirits—and it's something we can bring to others in the name of the Jesus. [written by John D. Barry] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

My Husband Beats, Strips Me – Woman Tells Court Posted: 23 Nov 2017 10:14 PM PST Chief Ademola Odunade, President of a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan on Thursday dissolved a 20-year-marriage between Nike Alufoso and Tunde Alufoso over threats to life and cruelty. Chief Odunade held that whenever a marital union became incompatible, the court would have no other option than to terminate it. "Therefore, the union between Nike and Tunde has ceased to be, henceforth, in the interest of peaceful living," he said. The president granted the custody of the two children produced by the union to Nike while he said Tunde should pay a monthly feeding allowance of N5,000 for their upkeep. The court also said that the defendant should, in addition, be responsible for the education and other welfare of the children. In her earlier statement before the court, Nike explained that Tunde, her husband, was fast sniffing life out of her as well as assaulting her mother. "My lord had I known that there was more to living with Tunde as a wife, maybe I would have had a rethink 20 years ago when I chose him as a husband. "I can only summarise my experience with Tunde as one characterised by agony, battery, shame, disrespect, hunger and lots more. "Anytime there was a minor disagreement between Tunde and me, he would strip me n*ked in the neighbourhood and unleash mayhem on me. "The last one he did this month was when he inflicted serious injury on one of our daughters with a broom. "After beating up the little girl, I had to start removing pieces of the broomsticks that had penetrated her skin," she said. Nike also told the court that her former husband beat his mother when she queried him on why he maltreated the young girl. "Besides, he is in no way responsible because he does not cater for the welfare and education of the children. "In fact, he threatened that if he sees me or any member of my family in court, he will definitely kill us today. "I no longer want to have anything to do with Tunde, please separate us," Nike pleaded. Admitting the divorce suit, Tunde, however, did not deny most of the allegations against him. He, instead, prayed the court to grant him custody of the two children. "My lord, Nike's mother is the major problem in our union because she keeps misleading her against my wish. Every now and then, Nike's mother is always loitering around our house. "Then, I asked Nike why her mother did not want us to have a breathing space. "That is why they all teamed up against me. "It is true that I beat my child, but it was because I saw blood flowing out from her private part. "Nike did not inform me on time that our daughter had already started menstruating while I thought that someone somewhere had deflowered her. "If it is her choice to leave, let it be," Tunde said. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
