Joshua Beats Takam; Retains His World Heavyweight Titles Posted: 29 Oct 2017 04:16 AM PDT Anthony Joshua maintained his 100 percent knockout ratio by stopping a bloodied Carlos Takam in the tenth round of their big fight on Saturday. The Nigerian-English boxer retained International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association world heavyweight titles with a devastating display of his punching power to finish Cameroon's France-based challenger at the Principality Stadium. Takam became Joshua's 20th knockout victim in a 4th defence of his IBF belt and first of WBA title, but Takam stubbornly resisted Joshua after being cut by the right eye in the fourth round. "It was a good fight until the ref stopped it. I have the upmost respect for Takam," said Joshua, who injured his nose from a headbutt in the second round. "Imagine if it's broke and I couldn't breath and he started catching up in the middle rounds? It would have been a disaster, so I kept my cool. You have to control these situations because, if I showed any signs of weakness, the ref could have jumped in." Takam was also given a count in the fourth round before being finished off by a barrage of unanswered punches which prompted the referee Phil Edwards to stop it. Takam complained it was a premature stoppage, which was jeered by Joshua's fans, and the challenger was given warm applause afterwards. "I don't think they should have stopped it," said Takam. "I want the rematch if Anthony gives me it." Takam, 36, had only accepted his first world title shot at less than two weeks' notice and fought for most of the fight with a gruesome cut which obscured his vision. For Takam, it was a fourth career defeat after a points loss to Parker last year and knockout loss to Russia's Alexander Povetkin in 2014. Takam, who boxed for Cameroon at the 2004 Olympics before relocating to Paris a year later, was drafted in as a late replacement opponent at 12 days' notice after Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev injured a shoulder. Joshua made an especially cautious start, not landing any power punches in the opening round, as he took time to assess Takam, who fought out of a crouch and burst forward with punches. Joshua landed a good left-right combination in the second round, but did not have as much success in the third. In the fourth, Takam suffered a nasty cut by the right eye from a big right from Joshua which caused him problems instantly with his vision due to the blood. Shook by a right When the fight continued, Takam was caught by a left that sent him spinning and was given a count as his glove was ruled to have touched down. Takam bravely fought back in the fifth but Joshua teed off on him in the sixth, landing heavy, unanswered blows. Takam had some of his best moments of the fight in the 7th round as he repeatedly caught Joshua. Takam was allowed to fight on but in the tenth he was shook by a right to the head and as Joshua unloaded more punches that landed flush, referee Phil Edwards stopped the fight. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog

How to Not Get Distracted from God in this Social Media Age Posted: 29 Oct 2017 01:46 AM PDT My son can't keep his eyes on me when I talk to him. Granted, he is only six, but his small eyes wander left and right when I'm giving instruction. It drives me nuts. "Hey boy, Mama is over here, not under the table..." I hate it the most during those lean-in kind of conversations, the ones where I really need him to pay attention because I have something important to say. When his head starts spanning the ceiling, I just know he isn't listening. I've lost him somewhere. It is usually hard to bring him back and get him to hear me. Like my son, we can't easily hear God when our eyes are off him... We can't easily follow what He is doing when we look left and right and all around. We miss His directions. God may be standing in the center of our intersection called "life," waving his arms, trying to tell us where to go. But if we have our head turned in other directions, thinking about random thoughts, annoyances, pestering people and pain-soaked problems, we won't see what he is doing or saying to lead us. So how do we keep our eyes on God so we can follow him? How do we focus our attention on his Word, on prayers and on his beauty so we find ourselves full of his joy? I've mulled over this question long and hard, day after day, week after week and the more I consider it, the more I am finding these steps keep intimacy in this crazy world. 5 Ways to Keep Focus on God:
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Jer. 33:3
The more you practice these things, the more these things will seamlessly and effortlessly become part of your life. They'll soak into your thinking, living and doing... and before you know it, you'll find yourself walking with God far more often than you're not. It was gathered that the fight was between members of the Aye and Eiye cult groups. The meat seller, identified as Olaitan Omo-Ibadan, was said to have been beheaded, his head dropped at the Inner Town Roundabout. A source who hinted on the incident told The Nation that residents were leaving the neighbourhood for fear of reprisal. He said: "There was a fight early Friday morning at Imota. Cultists engaged in a serious fight and they killed five people. They severed the meat seller's head, placed it on a platter and dropped it on the road. "The incident caused panic as people were running for fear of a reprisal attack. I do not know why they fought but those two gangs are also clashing. "The police later came and made some arrests. Posted: 29 Oct 2017 12:08 AM PDT An entrepreneur who was rejected by Dragons' Den and claims he 'turned down a £90 million offer for his company' because he believed it was worth £1 billion has had to sell his car and home to keep it afloat. Marco Hajikypri blames health food Pro Gains business' 80% sales slump on customers hating his "bragging". He's been forced to sell his £50,000 Audi Q7 - and start driving his girlfriend's Smart car around the streets of Birmingham. He has also sold his house and is now renting while he ploughs £90,000 back into the business in a desperate attempt to keep it running. Back in July, Marco rejected a £90million offer for Pro Gains because he believed he could do better on his own. But now he has told the Birmingham Mail : "I wish had taken a tenth of that offer now. I've had hate mail, it's been awful. Marco appeared on BBC's Dragons' Den last year but ended up rowing with the Dragons, particularly Deborah Meaden who believed he had over-valued his company at £2 million and described him as "like arguing with cotton wool". Marco was determined to prove the Dragons wrong, and within a few months had expanded to three units in West Bromwich and employed 33 people to prepare and deliver 7,000 healthy meals a week to customers' doors. He claimed the business was worth £16 million, but Coventry multi-millionaire Jojar Singh Dhinsa offered him a staggering £90 million for the company. However, believing the company was going to be worth £1 billion, Marco decided to turn down the offer. But it was after this that his luck turned. Marco said: "I think I have been portrayed by some media outlets as a money grabber, which is not true because I'm all about giving back. Last year I donated £4,000 worth of food to the homeless.
"I thought my offer was something to be proud of after Dragons' Den, but people thought I came across as arrogant. I've been misperceived, I've worked really hard and slept in my car to get my business off the ground. "I'm not going to give up though, my goal and vision are still the same and I will keep working." culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog

AGF Malami Allegedly Twisted Court Judgment To Reinstate Ex-Pension Boss Maina Posted: 28 Oct 2017 08:51 AM PDT A new report has revealed how Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, twisted a 2013 high court judgment to recall Abdulrasheed Maina. According to Vanguard, contrary to the claim by Malami that a court judgement gave Maina a clean-bill-of-health, the court merely quashed a warrant of arrest that was issued against the former pension boss by the Nigerian Senate. The judgment delivered on March 27, 2013, by Justice Adamu Bello of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court (now retired), only faulted the process that led to the issuance of the warrant of arrest against Maina. Justice Bello had advised the ex-pension boss to surrender himself to the authorities investigating the alleged N2 billion fraud. The court also noted there was no evidence that the investigation Senate commenced against Maina was "one validly commenced in accordance with the provisions of Section 88(1) of the 1999 constitution." The Justice Bello-led court held that Senate investigative committee failed to annex vital documents to show that the ex-pension boss was accorded fair treatment before the warrant of arrest was issued against him. Exerpts from the judgment read, "The implication of the failure to produce and annex these vital documents to the counter affidavit of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th and 9th respondents is that there is no evidence before me to show that the investigation commence by the said respondents is one validly commenced in accordance with the provisions of Section 88(1) of the 1999 constitution. "If it has not been validly commenced in accordance with the Constitution, it follows that the summons or invitation to the Applicant (Maina) to appear before the Committee would not have been validly issued and ipso facto, the warrant of arrest was not validly issued. "In the circumstances therefore, I am bound to set aside the warrant of arrest issued by the 2nd respondent which threatens the right of the applicant to his personal liberty. "Consequently, the warrant of arrest issued by the 2nd respondent for the arrest of the applicant is set aside. "I grant relief-1 contained in the statement. I also grant an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents jointly and/or severally by themselves and or their agent, privies, servants, however so called from arresting the applicant on account of the warrant of arrest which has been set aside. "However, beyond these two reliefs, given all the facts available to the court, the applicant is not entitled to any other relief. "My decision is based purely on the failure of the respondents to annex the vital documents I mentioned, otherwise, the applicant would not have any case at all. "The decision should not therefore send a wrong signal to the public that the senate does not have the power to cause an investigation within the purview of the powers conferred on it by Sections 88 and 89 of the Constitution with respect to the matters enumerated therein. "It has such powers and when properly exercised, it can summon any person in Nigeria to give evidence and can also compel the attendance of any such person. "Let me end the judgment by advising the applicant to submit himself voluntarily to the investigation by the senate in order to show that he respects constituted authority. "It is the least expected of him as a public officers and as a citizen of Nigeria", Justice Bello held. However, in a letter, with Ref. No. HAGF/FCSC/2017/Vol. 1/3, Malami had directed the Federal Civil Service Commission to give consequential effect to a judgment he said voided the process that led to Maina's dismissal from service. On the strength of the letter, the FCSC, at the end of a meeting it held on June 14, 2017, requested the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, vide a letter marked FC.4029/82/Vol. III/160, and dated June 21, to advService. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior to consider the AGF's letter and make appropriate recommendations regarding Maina's case. In line with the directive, the Ministry of Interior, at its Senior Staff Committee meeting held on June 22, placed reliance on the AGF's letter and recommended that Maina be reinstated into the Service as Deputy Director on Salary Grade Level 16. Consequently, the FCSC, on August 16, approved the reinstatement of Maina with effect from February 21, 2013 (being the date he was earlier dismissed from Service). culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog

Actress Annabella Sciorra says Harvey Weinstein raped her in her apartment | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 28 Oct 2017 07:53 AM PDT For more than 20 years, actress Annabella Sciorra says she has kept a horrific secret: Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein raped her in the 1990s, and sexually harassed her for years later. Sciorra, 53, an Emmy-nominated actress for her role in "The Sopranos" and a film actress with credits like Spike Lee's "Jungle Fever" to her name, on Friday became the latest in a string of at least 50 women to accuse Weinstein of sexual abuse and harassment. The alleged rape occurred sometime around 1992, when Sciorra filmed "The Night We Never Met," which was backed by Miramax, Weinstein's then company. She'd known Weinstein for a few years, she said. They often saw each other at events, dinners and screenings, and after one such evening in New York, she said, Weinstein offered to give her a ride home. "Harvey had dropped me off before, so I didn't really expect anything out of the ordinary – I expected just to be dropped off," the petite Italian-American actress told The New Yorker. Weinstein drove her home and said goodbye, and Sciorra went to her apartment and got ready for bed. A few minutes later, someone knocked at the door. "It wasn't that late ... like it wasn't the middle of the night, so I opened the door a crack to see who it was. And he pushed the door open," she told The New Yorker. Weinstein "walked in like it was his apartment, like he owned the place, and started unbuttoning his shirt. So it was very clear where he thought this was going to go. And I was in a nightgown. I didn't have much on," the actress said. After he'd taken a circuit of the apartment – apparently making sure they were alone, Sciorra said – he grabbed at her. "This is not happening," she told him, according to The New Yorker. "You've got to go. You have to leave. Get out of my apartment." But Weinstein wouldn't budge. He cornered her in the bedroom, she said. She remembered him saying things like, "Come here, come on, cut it out, what are you doing, come here," the magazine reported. "He shoved me onto the bed, and he got on top of me. I kicked and I yelled," she said in the interview. But Weinstein, now 65, held her down, with her hands over her head, she told The New Yorker. She fought him – wearing a white cotton nightgown that was a family heirloom from Italy. "When he was done, he ejaculated on my leg, and on my nightgown. He said, 'I have impeccable timing,' and then he said, 'This is for you,'" Sciorra told The New Yorker. "And then he attempted to perform oral sex on me. And I struggled, but I had very little strength left in me," she said. Weinstein left, and Sciorra said she never spoke of the rape and never went to police. But her work began to dry up; rumors that she was "difficult" came back to her, she told The New Yorker. From 1992 to 1995, she got no work, she said in the interview. She finally got a job in "The Innocent Sleep" and went to London where, she said, Weinstein began calling her hotel. Sciorra said Weinstein sent cars to the hotel and one night pounded on her room door. She asked the film producer to find her another place to stay, The New Yorker said. Similar incidents occurred over the next few years, she alleged, the worst in 1997 when Sciorra found out Weinstein was in the room next to hers at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. "My heart just sank," Sciorra told The New Yorker. Early one morning, someone knocked on the door, she said. "There's Harvey in his underwear, holding a bottle of baby oil in one hand and a tape, a movie, in the other. And it was horrific, because I'd been there before," she told The New Yorker. She ran for the hotel room phone. "Evil Bird" Monitoring A Man's Destiny Killed In Benin Today Posted: 28 Oct 2017 07:51 AM PDT Those who take "issues of life" lightly, I pray you continue to enjoy the grace. This our world is deep. As shared by Ubanme Udie... "A family friend of mine has been unemployed for years now since graduating from the university with good grades. His life has been characterized by unprecedented disappointments and financial hardship. On Tuesday this week, he was invited to a vigil at a church in Benin city and according to him, in the course of the service, he was called out by the prophet and told that, his destiny is being monitored by enemies in his father's house through an evil bird. He was told the resulting effect of the evil bird's activities is his present struggles with life and disappointments. Although shocked by this revelation, he was however told to do midnight prayers for 3 nights starting from Wednesday and the evil bird will manifest and he should endeavor to be alert and kill it. Last night, he rounded up the 3 nights of midnight prayers and today, the unbelievable happened. Right there in his room he woke up to see a creature flying around with the windows and doors locked. He said he was initially scared but summoned up courage and reached out for a hanger in the wardrope with which he killed the evil bird according to the instruction of the prophet. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog
