On her relationship with Gold Simi told Pulse:
"I don't know why people are obsessed with me and Adekunle Gold, why, I suppose it because we do music together and his voice is on one of my songs and my voice is on one of his songs, so it does make people think something is going on, I can't seem to dodge this question but I guess it is what it is."

On celebrities who show off their relationship online she said:" I am a very private person, I'm very careful with the things I put out there because I know whatever I put out there is going to go public that's why am very careful."

On handling criticism:

" There was a time I use to say, why are people so stressed out about my skirt for example, and then I realized that people can have their own opinion. I am honesty the kind of person who doesn't know how to be stressed about something. I know every person has the chance to get better. Honestly, I am not a fashion person. I like the sneakers, I like the T-shirt and face cap. That's how I get comfortable.
I'm just an artist, I love to sing and write, this is just me but if you are going to sit down and just bash me...there are people that actually me and advise me and you would know it is coming from their heart and there are those who just want to say something bad" she reveals.

Nigerian man calls God Is Good Motors out for abandoning him in the hospital | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 27 Sep 2017 05:01 AM PDT

A certain man Paulcy C. Iwuala has written to YabaLeftOnline, to share his grievance with God Is Good Motors, who abandoned him after being involved in an accident with one of the buses.

In a letter titled "The Inhuman Face of God Is Good (GIG) Motors", he wrote:

On April 2016, I was involved in a fatal accident in Ore. A head-to-head collision between God is Good (GIG) Toyota Hiace Bus and Peace Mass Transit bus. I was sitting in front of the car with the driver and watched two passengers die in front of me.
I tried to force my way out of the car, which due to the impact of the crash I believed may soon be on fire. The door was jammed, and all my efforts to break the side screen and force my way out was futile. Fortunately, some pedestrians on the roadside jacked the door open and I fell out, with a knee that had been ruptured with multiple fractures, and with a pain that was clearly unspeakable.
I was taken to FMC Ore by GIG management, where for 5 hours of excruciating pain no one attended to me. I had to call a DSS man, Raymond Nkemdirim, who was a personal friend, and through his mediation, the transport company moved me and the driver to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
Again, for close to 24 hours I was abandoned in the casualty ward of UBTH because GIG Motors wasn't forthcoming with the money that was needed to move me to the surgery ward for operation.
The doctors kept telling me that all they needed was for GIG Motors to pay 45,000 only so they can buy the anaesthesia and antibiotic drugs to be administered to me before the operation. The drugs were supposed to numb me; from my leg downwards.
At any rate, the only other option was to use the General Anaesthesia machine, which was so scarily old, duck tapes were used to glue some of the pipes. They suggested that was the only other alternative if there was no money to buy those anaesthesia drugs. Eventually I became so fearful of ever going through that GA machine that I called on GIG Motors that I was going to Abuja for treatment.
They decided to transport me to Abuja, but tried to offer me a single sit in the bus. Such brazen wickedness for a person of my size, not to mention that I was nursing a fractured knee which had to stay suspended to make the pain somewhat bearable. After minutes of argument they decided to give me an entire row of seat behind the driver. This driver however was so reckless on the road; that he made sure to jump into every pothole from Benin to Abuja.
The driver dropped me at GIG Park in Utako, Abuja, contrary to the earlier agreement, which was to take me to Alliance Orthopaedic Hospital, Area 11. He said he was not asked to do that. I called my brother who swarmed the office with 3 Hilux vans full of policemen.
After they threatened to seize their buses if they didn't comply with the initial arrangement, they eventually took me to Alliance Orthopaedic Hospital. Afterwards, GIG Motors will continue to avoid any contact with me, and refuse every overture to partake in the financial aspect of the medical attention I received in the hospital.
Their abandonment, and the trauma which they had caused me beginning from that fatal accident to the continued inhumane nonchalance to my situation has warranted my now calling them out on their wicked and heartless attitude. And I am prepared to seek redress in every legal way possible.

Have Your Finances Come Out Of Recession?

Posted: 27 Sep 2017 04:37 AM PDT

Author of 'Practical Steps to Financial Independence' and personal finance coach, Usiere Uko, writes about bringing our personal economy out of recession.

I was delighted to hear the announcement that Nigeria officially came out of recession in the second quarter of this year and the fact that the growth was driven by agriculture and solid minerals.

I know there is an ongoing debate as to whether we are really out of recession or not since the man on the street is yet to experience it.

The body that announced that we fell into recession last year was the one that announced that we had emerged from it. I believe the officials have the data before them to make that announcement. I am neither an economist nor inclined to join the argument. I do not argue with data.

If you put your financial house in order, what happens in the economy will not affect your home. You can create your own climate and enjoy sunshine in your house while it is raining outside. Markets boom and crash. Economies go through boom and bust cycles. In the middle of all the commotion, there are companies and individuals that are not affected. There are always winners and losers anytime there is change. It is up to you to decide which side of the divide you want to belong. People are still travelling. Building projects are going on everywhere. The fact that it is not happening to you does not mean it is not happening to others.

How is your economy doing?
We can argue until we turn blue in the face about the national economy, but what about your own economy? What lessons have you learned from the recent recession? If you come out of this recession the same way you went in, you will suffer the same fate when the next recession comes knocking. There are two ways to change – make up your mind to change or be forced by circumstances to change.

Most of the change I have seen is due to circumstances. That means the changes may not last after the circumstances that drove the change go away. We are holding onto our cars longer. Many have moved their children to cheaper schools. Some parents have discovered that there are world-class universities in Nigeria where the lecturers do not go on strike. Many companies have discovered that they can source for raw materials and software locally. I discovered that fixing my appliance is much cheaper than throwing it away and replacing it with an inferior one.

The reality is that compared to our level of production, we are hyper consumers. We spend as if we are rich. It is very easy to spot a Nigerian at an airport abroad. Simply look at the height of the trolley. If you see anyone arguing at the check-in counter over excess luggage, chances are the person is a Nigerian. Rather than invest in businesses that create wealth, we are busy making other nations richer.

How is your economy?

Have your finances come out of recession?

What lessons has the recession taught you?

Become aware of the consequences of your actions
School is never out for anyone with a goal. We can choose to live our lives intentionally and decide what we really want. To achieve our goals, including financial goals, we need to know what we are doing wrong that is holding us back from moving forward. If we are taking actions that are sabotaging our efforts, trying to move forward without dealing with that is like trying to accelerate with your brakes on. Most of our financial challenges are self-inflicted. We don't mean to hurt ourselves. We are just clueless. We keep inflicting financial injury on ourselves without knowing who is doing it. We look for answers outside without realising the culprit is us.

I often share this story of how my hands kept peeling whenever I washed clothes with detergent. When I stopped washing clothes for a week or so, my hands healed. I tried everything – several hand creams; I even prayed. But it went on for more than a decade. Then one day, I was discussing with a group of friends in my sitting room and one of them asked me to bring my hands. After inspection, she asked what soap I was using. I mentioned the name of the detergent. She told me the detergent was too harsh for my hands. She recommended I used a milder detergent or a bar of soap. I heeded her advice and that was the end of the mystery of peeling hands. I was the one 'killing' my hands while I was busy looking for solutions outside. Ignorance is a formidable enemy. It can send you on a wild goose chase, looking for what is not lost.

I have never forgotten that lesson. I later read a book on nutrition, titled 'What you don't know may be killing you!' by Dr. Don Colbert. It holds true in other areas of our lives, including finances. What you don't know may be killing your finances. Ignorance is not bliss. We need to make a conscious effort to know.

What lessons have you learned from the last recession? If you don't learn from history, you will repeat it over and over again till you get it. Don't just celebrate the exit from recession. Find out what got you there. What are you going to do differently? Learn the lessons and build on it. Each storm should leave you stronger because of the lessons you learn along the way.

- Usiere Uko

Meet Nkem, A UI Graduate Who Taps & Sells Palm Wine

Posted: 27 Sep 2017 04:07 AM PDT

Nkem Okechukwu is a brilliant Nigerian whose journey took an unexpected turn after he graduated from the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI). The young man resorted to the tapping and selling of local palmwine after he tried hard to find a job.

Read his interesting story below:

NAIJ had an exclusive chat with Nkem who was recommended by his wife. She listed him as one of the bravest men she has ever known with his decision to use his skills and not give in to the evil vices in the society. Nkem's story is not just touching; it is inspiring as the impatient graduates in the society can learn one or two things from him.

He has done his best in creating a job for himself while waiting for fate to deliver that dream job unto him. Most importantly, he is not idle and he's impacting the lives of those around him positively.
"I am known as Nkem Okechukwu Confidence. I was born in November 1987. I am the last child of seven children and come from a very humble family. I attended University of Ibadan between 2010 to 2014, where I got a degree in Communication and Language Arts (CLA).
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was the next thing for me. I started my service at Government Day Secondary school at Pupule, Yorro local government area of Taraba before I moved on to Imade College in Owo local government area of Ondo state."

How did you start selling palm wine? Whose idea was it?
Selling palm wine was nobody's idea. It was something I thought about by myself. Notwithstanding, the real idea came from the popular music of no employment.

Tell us about the things you do asides being a palm wine tapper and seller?
I do not do much asides tapping palm wine. It could be exhausting so I sleep whenever am tired! Have you been able to generate funds from the sales? How much do you make per day? Concerning fund generation, palm wine tapping and selling is quite lucrative as tedious as it is. I make an average of ten to fifteen thousand naira daily.

What major challenges have you tried to overcome since you began?
The only challenge I have been battling with is rain. Tapping palm wine when it is raining is quite difficult. Rain disrupts the supply of palm wine from the tree. I end up tapping twice on a normal day. You either get drenched in the rain or sit back at home.

What major progress have you recorded since you started?
With palm wine, I have been able to take good care of myself and my immediate family. Also, I have been able to buy a car and some plots of land right here in Owo and in my village, Okpoto, in Ebonyi.

How do you feel with your choice of work when you run into your colleagues?
I am not intimidated by anyone. Tapping and selling palm wine is something most people are not willing to do. They look down on those doing it as they do not know it pays. Sincerely, tapping and selling palm wine pays a great deal.

What is your future ambition now?
My ambition is to change my line of business and go into a bigger and less stressful venture. I am working on starting something soon.

What have you to say to other people struggling out there?
I basically want the young ones out there to know that those who make it are those who are tough. It is important for them to use what they have to work towards getting that which they do not have.

Funny enough, l started this palm wine business with less than twenty thousand naira; the story is different today as I make more than seventy thousand naira per week. So, do not wait to have a million naira in your account before you start something.

What would you like to be remembered for?
I want people to only remember me for being good. Lucky Dube already sang about it when he asked people to do good unto those they meet up the ladder as they would be needed when descending.

Bishop David Oyedepo Celebrates His 63rd Birthday Today

Posted: 27 Sep 2017 03:42 AM PDT

Happy 63rd Birthday to Bishop David Oyedepo, founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith World Outreach Centre and Chancellor of Covenant and Landmark Universities.

Read Pastor Adeboye's birthday message to him:

Happy Birthday Bishop David Oyedepo - The Rolls Royce of Bishops
Some years ago, someone gave me an article on cars to read.
It listed the Mercedes Benz as the STRONGEST car.
It listed BMW as the FASTEST car
It listed LEXUS as the most comfortable car.

I turned to the man that gave me the article to read and asked in my confusion "so where do we place Rolls Royce"?

The man smiled and said "sir, you can't place Rolls Royce in this category; when we are rating cars, Rolls Royce is in a class of it's own".

There are bishops and there are bishops.
......and When you are rating bishops, Bishop Oyedepo stands in a class of his own.

Bishop Oyedepo is the Rolls Royce of bishops.

And I am proud to be his father. It is only in Christianity that you see a bishop who is a son to a pastor.

Husband Abandons 3rd Wife after She Gave Birth to Triplets

Posted: 27 Sep 2017 03:07 AM PDT

Poverty mentality is worse than poverty of the pocket. One Mr. Nwiziogo Nkwegu of Obegu Village in the Ozibo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has allegedly abandoned his wife, Ukamaka, after she gave birth to a set of triplets.

35-year-old Ukamaka, who was Nkwegu's third wife, gave birth to the triplets – two boys and a girl – at a traditional maternity home in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, three weeks ago.

Southern City News gathered that the woman was forced to approach the traditional maternity home as opposed to going to the hospital as a result of her husband's complaint that he had no money.

It was learnt that Ukamaka, who does menial jobs to cater for herself and the children, had earlier given birth to a set of twins and another single child before giving birth to the triplets.

It was gathered that the woman had resorted to using the traditional maternity home on the advice of an attendant at the traditional home, who was aware of her plight.

Sadly, since she was delivered of the triplet three weeks ago, she had been begging for assistance from well-meaning Nigerians as her husband had disappeared from home and refused to pick her calls.

Help, however, came her way of the woman after a former lawmaker representing Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Chief Peter Edeh, donated an undisclosed amount to her.

The cash donation was made to the woman on behalf of Chief Edet by his PA, Peter Nwali.

The ex-lawmaker urged the woman to go for family planning, while appealing to the runaway husband to return home and join hands to take care of the triplets.

British Airways sacks female attendant for racist rant against Nigerian passengers

Posted: 27 Sep 2017 03:07 AM PDT

British Airways has sacked a stewardess who posted a racist online rant attacking Nigerian passengers. The lady, who had been identified as Joanne Wickenden, got the sack after a two-hour meeting with her bosses.

According to Mail Online, Joanne sparked outrage after recording the racist clip in her BA uniform before flying from London Heathrow to Abuja on Friday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the airline said, "She no longer works for British Airways. We expect the utmost professionalism from our staff when they are representing British Airways."

The 23-year-old, who wants to be an actress, told friends, "I am not a racist," and claimed the sickening video was "just a joke."

She said, "I have been set up by another BA employee. They were encouraging me, egging me on to say things. They were recording me and sent it around to our friends.

"I don't want to fly anymore."
A shocked staff member said BA should apologise to its Nigerian passengers. In the expletive-filled footage, Joanne had said, "All Nigerians are going to be asking for f****** upgrades."

"Alright, so all of yous are there getting ready for your Friday night, getting in the pre-drinks, you know, as you do.

"And I'm here, getting ready to go to work, put on a yellow life jacket, point out the exits, hand out chicken or beef; what sort of Friday night is this for me?

"The upside is I'm going to Nigeria and there's gonna be bare B**, I'm joking, I'm joking.

"All the Nigerians are gonna be there like 'gimme Coca-Cola, gimme me beef, why you have no beef left? I want beef.

"And I'm just gonna be there like, 'Sorry sir, we ran out of beef'.

"All the Nigerians are gonna be there asking for f****** upgrades because they haven't got enough leg room because their B**s are in their way. Big d**** like this swinging from side to side."
British Airways Regional Commercial Manager, West Africa, Kola Olayinka, confirmed her sack.
