We Can’t Disclose Our Salaries & Allowances – Senate Posted: 11 Sep 2017 03:37 AM PDT The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Aliyu Abdullahi, has lamented the constant harassment of the Senate by Nigerians, adding that the upper legislative chamber cannot disclose its salaries and allowances. Abdullahi said this during a live programme on Channels titled, 'Politics Today.' The spokesman also refused to state how much the lawmakers earned in salary and allowances. When asked to say how much he earned, Abdullahi said it was rude of the presenter to ask him how much each senator earned. Abdulahi said, "You don't expect me to come out on national television to say this is what I earn. It is not done. I cannot ask you as a journalist how much you earn. It is not done. "If anybody is interested in how much we are getting paid, you know where to get the information. The documents are available. If Nigerians won't believe that, is it what I will say that they will believe?" The Senate spokesman said the figures released by the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), were false, adding that the Senate's budget was not even as high as what Sagay released. He said Sagay was only trying to cause unnecessary tension between the National Assembly and the Presidency. When confronted with figures exclusively obtained by Channels which put the salary and allowances of each senator at N14m per month and House of Representatives members as N8m per month, Abdullahi said he could not confirm or deny the figures. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Nigeria In Trouble As China Seeks To Ban Petrol and Diesel Vehicles? Posted: 11 Sep 2017 02:07 AM PDT China, world's biggest car market, plans to ban the production and sale of diesel and petrol vehicles, further threatening the future profitability of oil — Nigeria's major revenue source. The development comes 2 months after UK, like Germany, France, India, Norway and Netherlands, revealed plans to ban fuel-run cars, as part of efforts to reduce air pollution. The ban will lead to a reduction of oil demand in China, as the country is currently the world's second-largest oil consumer after the US. China wants electric battery cars and plug-in hybrids to account for at least one-fifth of its vehicle sales by 2025. Xin Guobin, China's vice industry minister, said it had started "relevant research" but that it had not yet decided when the ban would come into force, BBC reports. "Those measures will certainly bring profound changes for our car industry's development," Guobin told Xinhua, China's official news agency. China made 28 million cars last year, almost a third of the world's total production. Chinese-owned carmaker Volvo said in July that all its new car models would have an electric motor from 2019. Geely, Volvo's Chinese owner, aims to sell one million electric cars by 2025. Other global car firms including Renault-Nissan, Ford, and General Motors are all working to develop electric cars in China. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
23yrs Old Maid Attacks Madam With Bottle After Stealing... Posted: 11 Sep 2017 02:07 AM PDT According to Nneka Obani, who shared the shocking story, her 23 year old maid tried to kill her and her children after she found out she was stealing from her. Read her story below... "People are always quick to talk about wicked madams but they totally ignore the fact that there are many maids from hell. One month ago I contacted an agency that gives out maid to give me a maid and this 23yrs old girl was brought to my house. Three days ago, I was going overhauling the guest room when I got the shock of my life, this girl has been systematically stealing from me. I saw alot stuffs she took which includes; My clothes (she amended the waist of my jeans and cut the length, then she amended the tops) My children's clothes Pampers My children's drinks My make ups My creams Eggs Spices My children's umbilical cord Some bottles of wine etc I was in shock and I confronted her, she started pleading that it was the devil but I was no longer comfortable because this was the girl I entrusted the care of my children to when I wasn't around. So I called the agent that brought and told him to come. He couldn't make it that day so he came around 7pm last night, we talked and he was also in shock, he pleaded with me to manage with her for two to three days that he would get me another maid, I agreed and he left. I locked my door and came inside that was when this maid started to rain abuses on me, that why did I contact her agency even after she said she was sorry, I told her from her tone right now she didn't sound so sorry. She was ranting and cursing so I told her to leave my house she said she wasn't going anywhere instead she was running round the house looking for what to pick up. I told her get out or I throw you out she started to threaten me, she said touch me first and see what will happen to you. So I brought out her bags to the corridors that was when she rushed and attacked me, I locked my children inside and I was in a scuffle with her outside, next thing I knew she rushed to the back and brought out a star bottle and broke it then she rushed at me. Let's just say you don't dare break a bottle for a warri born and brought up, I gave her the beating of her life then handed her over to the vigilante. Apart from a little injury I got from the bottle she broke I am fine but just tired. I'm still in shock." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Nigeria May Soon Witness Scarcity Of Cow Meat | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 11 Sep 2017 01:55 AM PDT Audu Ogbeh, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, has revealed that there may soon be scarcity of cow meat in the country. Audu, made this know yesterday ahead of the National Conference on Transformation of the Livestock scheduled to hold in Abuja from Tuesday. 'The way we are consuming cows, slaughtering them is quite alarming. Lagos alone consumes 6,000 cows a day, that's the figure at abattoirs, not figure from birthday parties and burial ceremonies and so on. Imagine what Port Harcourt consumes; or Umuahia, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Maiduguri. If you add it up, we may be eating up to 80,000 to 90,000 cows a day and we are not calving as many. Which means a day will come, if the West Africans don't come into Nigeria with their cows, we may find out we have no cattle. So, that's an economic danger that faces us', he said. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

5 Ways to Cut High Bank Charges when You Travel Abroad Posted: 11 Sep 2017 01:37 AM PDT Banking abroad is more than just using your card at an ATM or using Point of Sale. So, when you travel abroad and you want to perform any transaction, you must know how to avoid paying bank fees, eliminate foreign transaction charges, and get a good exchange rate. If you do not, you will discover that your bank will have a field day deducting fees for banking transactions. In line with this, Jumia Travel shares ways you can reduce bank charges when you travel abroad. Eliminate ATM fees ATM fees can really add up because while travelling, you will probably withdraw money from an ATM. Of course, you already know that ATM fees vary around the world. With this at the back of your mind, you should get a bank in the Global ATM Network. This is a network of large banks that have removed fees and allow for free ATM withdrawals. Don't use ATMs in weird locations Using ATMs you find at random places is not really a good idea. They may be convenient but they always charge high ATM fees and their exchange rates are high. Avoid such ATMs and find a major bank to get cash. Never change money at airports Most exchange bureaus in airports do not offer good exchange rates. The rates at airports are usually unfavourable. As such, do not change your money at the airport except you have to. Exchange with other travellers If you end up with extra local currency at the end of your trip, consider selling it to another traveller. You will probably get a better rate and you can avoid all bank and conversion fees. Download the XE app on your phone It's always best to know the exchange rate for the country you are travelling to. The XE Currency App is perfect for this purpose as the app automatically updates every day with the exact exchange rate. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Bringing God Into Your Job/Business Posted: 11 Sep 2017 01:07 AM PDT Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. -Colossians 3:23-24Father, I come before you thankful that you have made work a part of life and given me the opportunity to glorify you in my work. Thank you that I can work hard and go to bed tired each day. Thank you for the good days and the difficult ones, and for the gifts you have given me to help this world be a better place through my work. While I know work is good, I also know our work today isn't what you intended and is often hard and frustrating. We all know sin's consequences on work: toilsome labor, injustice, and trials; and also the pain of wanting work but not finding it. May these painful situations drive me to a deeper longing for the return of Christ and consummation of all things — including work. May the gospel shape my work habits and attitude, helping me to avoid the dual dangers of not working enough (laziness) and working too much (making work an idol). Help me to be a humble, teachable, hardworking, and complaint-free employee, even when doing the mundane tasks I'd rather avoid. May I work in faithand be motivated by a love for you and a love for those whom my work benefits. Establish the work of my hands by helping me to be productive, patient, focused, and insightful. Keep me from distractions and from technology hindering my work instead of helping it. May your Spirit lead me in my work and help me to be joyful, creative, and worshipful–constantly reminding me of your love and that you're the reason I have breath in my lungs. Teach me to align my work, family, church life, and rest in a way that would maximize your glory and allow me to bear the most fruit for your kingdom. Cause my work and attitude to adorn the gospel and shine the light of Christ into this dark and desperate world. Help me bless my workplace by living a salty, gospel-worthy life in front of my watching coworkers, and help me honor my boss as I honor you. Make my heart worship and enjoy you throughout the day, knowing that you are the reason for breath in my lungs and the One I am really serving. And as I work, fix my eyes on Jesus and his finished work on the cross that gave me treasure I could not earn, rest that I could not otherwise experience, and a living hope that will fuel me to work for the glory of God. Amen. [written by Kevin Halloran] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Sad Story Of How Lady Was Killed By One Of The Men She Swindled With Marriage Posted: 11 Sep 2017 12:37 AM PDT Details have emerged after the tragic death of 25yrs old Cynthia Nwafi, who was killed by her fiancé, Friday Njoku, 30, who then committed suicide after committing the crime. The incident happened on Friday, September 1, 2017, in Aguogboriga axis of Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital. It has been revealed that the death might not be unrelated to an event that happened in the past in which the lady in question allegedly swindled three suitors. The Sun learnt from a member of the local vigilance group that helped to convey Cynthia to the hospital before she died that she had been allegedly warned by some neighbours about her alleged inordinate relationship with men. They told a story of how she allegedly dumped her first fiancé who paid for her shop and bought some electronic devices. "That girl had already disappointed the first man who wanted to marry her. It was that first man that paid for the container (shop) where she was sewing clothes and bought her a 20inch foam mattress, electronics and other home appliances. "She was about dumping this one that killed her (Njoku) for a man who works in the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre, Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. In fact, I learnt that Njoku had warned that one to leave his girlfriend alone, saying that he had already taken palm wine to her family," the vigilante told The Sun. "The first man, in anger, told her that she would dump another man in the same manner. She actually dumped that first man for this man that killed her. That man working in the hospital is very lucky. He could have been the one that Friday would have killed," he narrated. "The two of them quarrelled earlier in the day. Njoku swore to her that nobody else would marry her apart from himself. I learnt that the girl replied him that he was not serious. We learnt that the guy had met with her family, to declare his interest. "On Wednesday, we learnt that Njoku and the hospital guy exchanged words. Njoku reportedly told him to steer clear off his fiancé. Then, on Thursday night, the guy killed both the girl and himself. We did further investigation and learnt that her landlord had warned her about Njoku, who he felt had a weird character," the vigilante said. According to a close source, the two lovebirds had been in a relationship for quite a time. Njoku was said to have taken wine to the parents and relatives of his girlfriend to indicate his intention to marry her and was accepted by Cynthia's family. He was making arrangements to walk her down the aisle before the tragedy happened. Njoku, a day before killing his lover, had accosted her parents and accused Cynthia of infidelity. The Cynthia's family denied the allegation that their daughter was unfaithful to her lover. Although they admitted that the late Njoku had made known his intention to marry Cynthia, their marriage had not been sealed, hence, he had no moral justification to lay claims to her. Cynthia's elder brother, Meshark Offia, who debunked the allegation, queried: "How could Friday say my sister was unfaithful when they were not living together? They were not legally married." Narrating what transpired, Offia said: "Around 1 O'Clock in the night, I got information that one Friday Njoku from Ebonyi Local Government Area stabbed my sister to death. I went to the state police headquarters, Abakaliki and reported the matter. I learnt that the assailant killed himself after stabbing my sister to death. I also went to the mortuary and saw his corpse. Friday Njoku was my sister's fiancé. He had not actually concluded the marriage rites but he had brought drinks for us and the family accepted him, the girl also accepted him. "The girl was living in her house and Friday was also living in his house. They had not been joined together as the tradition demands but we were all aware that Friday was Cynthia's fiancé though he had not paid her bride price. Friday was a motorcycle operator; my sister a fashion designer. "My sister and Friday were in good terms. Even, Friday came to my house a day before he killed my sister. How could Friday say my sister was unfaithful when they were not living together, they were not legally married?" Meshark added. Recall that Njoku after stabbing Cynthia fatally, subsequently committed suicide in his house. He was said to have drank a poisonous substance. On the fateful day, he stormed the residence of his lover located on No. 5 Amachi Street, along Odunukwe Street and stabbed her all over the body with a knife before bolting away. Some of the neighbours who spoke with Sunday Sun on condition of anonymity said Cynthia was cooking late in the night while also handling some other domestic chores when her lover arrived at her residence. The seamstress who had no premonition of the impending doom, opened the door to receive her boyfriend. She was said to have returned to the kitchen when Njoku came from behind and stabbed her on her chest and other parts of her body severally and ran away leaving her in the pool of her blood. One of Cynthia's neighbours, a lady, who mustered courage to rush to her aid, Sunday Sun learnt, was also attacked by the assailant. She was said to have hastily ran back to her apartment with a knife cut on her hand. Vigilance officers (names withheld) in the area told Sunday Sun that the victim had raised the alarm, calling on her neighbours to come to her rescue. But given the ungodly hour of the incident, coupled with the light rain showers, the neighbours who were apparently eavesdropping on the rowdy scene from their apartments did nothing to help her. Apparently with the last drop of energy left in her, Cynthia stood up from the pool of her blood and staggered to the gate of one of her neighbour, banging and calling out for help. The security men said it was at that point that their team arrived at the scene and took her to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. He said that the assailant absconded with Cynthia's mobile phones. "We went to her shop and copied her phone number. When we put a call to it, her attacker picked and said that it was a wrong number. From the way he was breathing, we knew he was running. "When we pressed further, he admitted to holding her phone but said that she was not around and cut the phone call," he said. Meanwhile, the state's Police PRO, ASP Loveth Odah, confirmed the death of the two lovebirds. She said that investigation was still ongoing as at the time of filing this report. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Too Much Busy & Stressed Out? How To Get Your Life Back Posted: 11 Sep 2017 12:07 AM PDT When we feel too busy and ruled by our schedule, we're often using our time as a cover-up for what's in our hearts. It's easier to stay busy sometimes than dealing with our underlying fears, failures, emotions, and worries. No calendar overhaul will change our hearts. But we often find that as we make concrete changes our hearts, too, change. So how do we get our lives back from a hectic schedule? How do we break free from busyness to live lives that are peaceful, reflective of our goals and our faith, and work towards the health of our families, our neighbors, and the world around us? Here are a few ways to start: 1. Stop and Pray We have to first stop and take account of our schedules. Get your calendar out and sit down with those in your family who make the decisions and discuss what you're already committed to. What brings you life and joy? What furthers your purpose as an individual or a family? What are you doing just because you think it's expected of you? Pray over your calendar. Our time is a precious commodity we can use to love God and love others. When we're so busy, we don't have the space in our lives to love others well. Pray for guidance that God would allow your commitments to reflect what He loves and what He's doing in the world. 2. Set Goals Assess your goals and create a personal or family mission statement. What are your goals as a family? If you want your children (and you!) to increase in kindness, faithfulness, and love of God and neighbor, does what you have on your calendar reflect those goals? Spend some time articulating your long-term goals for growth. Then take these goals and look at your commitments. Evaluate how you spend your time. For instance, if hospitality and welcome are important to how you live out your faith, then make sure that's reflected on your calendar. 3. Say "No" to Make Room for "Yeses" We can't be superheroes and we can't do everything. If you're a working mother, it might be hard to join the PTA and volunteer in your child's class. That's okay. We don't need to do everything. But it may be possible to invite another family for a barbecue on the weekend and help out by teaching Sunday School at church. Remember your goals. We have to constantly re-evaluate our schedules knowing both what God is calling us to and how he's equipped us as individuals to work as a body of believers. That means that we have to say a lot of "no's" before we're able to say "yes." Saying "no" will free up space in our hectic schedules for us to say the right "yes" that will not only make us feel less harried, but more than that, will help. 4. Schedule As you continue to work with your calendar, and as you pray, set goals, say no so you can say appropriate yeses, and evaluate, schedule the things that further your mission statement. Make room in your calendar for the long-term projects and dreams that get crushed out by daily minutiae. Pray for your eyes to be opened to needs around you and allow the Holy Spirit to move in you to work for God's kingdom right where you are. May our calendars and schedules reflect not only our own goals, but more importantly, may they be instruments to love God and love our neighbor. Posted: 10 Sep 2017 11:50 PM PDT Relationship expert, Joro Olumofin has taken to social media to share his thoughts on how 'run girls'end up with the eligible guys in town while the decent girls don''t. He wrote: Why is this so? Based on Direct Observation and survey from thousands of emails sent to me daily by people mostly Nigerians of all works and ages. I've gathered that Most men fall for Runs girls and ladies who have a Runs girl mindset. Who is a runs Girl? A Runs girl is any lady who uses her beauty and looks as a tool to get money from men. Mostly older men. It's a more flamboyant way of Prostitution. Let's just say Very classy educated prostitutes. The question remains , why would a Successful Eligible bachelor go for a runs girl instead of a decent lady? . The answer is in the approach to mans Cognitive Framework ; his mentality. A runs girl has a "Phd" in knowing how to please a man, what a man wants sexually, what a man likes, her body and mind is a moving encyclopedia filled with ways to please a man. A runs girl takes so much care of her body and private parts because these body parts pay the bills. While a Decent girl is busy equipping herself mentally, occupationally paying little attention to Social media followers. A decent girl doesn't see the need to please a man, a decent girl is looking for a man to please her emotionally & romantically , be a companion and meet her halfway. . . A decent girl seems very difficult for most men, she has so many rules, terms and conditions. She doesn't have the time to feed a Mans Ego and make him feel like a king because she knows she's a Queen. . Runs girls have allowed men to run wild and free, without any rules. Men can do and undo as long as a Runs Girl is getting her money , birkin bags and Dubai tickets she's happy. When a man has gotten so many ladies for cheap, he will never have the patience to go through the TERMS & CONDITIONS of a Decent Girl. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
How to Have a Healthy Relationship with Your In-Laws Posted: 10 Sep 2017 11:27 PM PDT With many talks that in-laws are bad news, it might seem impossible to have a healthy relationship with yours. But there is hope! Try these eight steps toward a beneficial and rewarding connection with your in-laws. Love them. Seems simplistic, but we sometimes forget that we're called to love our in-laws, no matter what. That doesn't mean we ignore bad behavior (see the caution note at the end of this article), but it does mean that our first thought of them should be love. We should strive to practice being a loving in-law ourselves too. Pray for them. Whether or not your in-laws are believers, we are called to pray for our family. But watch out that you don't pray like the Pharisee in Luke 18:11 ("Thank God I'm not like that sinner!"). "If you find yourself only praying that God would cure them of XYZ faults, you should also pray that God would work in your heart to help you see them like He does," said Carolyn Erickson of Fairfax, Virginia. "Remember that you need grace too — and that sometimes, you're part of the problem!" Have a thankful heart. These are the people who love your spouse or who love your son or daughter as much as you do. Be grateful for that and "look for other traits for which to be thankful versus looking for traits that you think could benefit from a change," said Ginny Hamlin of Riverside, California. Respect them for who they are. They are not perfect--but neither are you. Everyone has faults, but everyone also has been made in God's image. This doesn't mean you have to agree with them on everything, but you should treat them as you would want to be treated. The Golden Rule isn't just for kids. It's not always personal. You should keep in mind that comments expressed by an in-law might not be directed at you. We can develop very prickly skin when it comes to interactions with our in-laws, and filter everything they say as a critique of us. "Sometimes you have to decide ahead of time that nothing they say is a direct attack on you," said Erickson. Give them the benefit of the doubt. At times, we're much too quick to assume the worst or assign the wrong motive to something said or done by in-laws. Make it a habit to look at each interaction from the best possible angle, and overlook as much of the little stuff—those annoying habits or expressions — as you can (and hope that they will do the same for you). Enjoy their traditions. You may have married into a family very different from your own or your child may be united to someone who comes from another background. Rather than dismiss those differences, inquire about them. Invite them to incorporate one or two into your own family's traditions. Ask questions about their heritage, not to be nosy but to show you care. Knowing some of their background stories can provide new insight into the person they are today and could bring fresh understanding to your relationship. There's no right way. This is especially important to keep in mind when tackling holidays and other things that have always been done a certain way in your family. Some people insist that their way is the only way, but a healthy relationship with your in-laws depends in large part on you being able to appreciate various points of view when it comes to celebrations and traditions. For example, when we started having children, my mother graciously told me that she was fine with our spending Christmas morning in our own home by ourselves, rather than at my childhood home with my parents. That gift of understanding how important it was for a new family to establish our own holiday traditions was very precious to us, and one I plan to pass on when my children marry. For mother and father-in-laws, keep in mind that your child married this person, so that should be all you need to know to extend love and good wishes. You might have chosen differently, but it wasn't your choice to make. By making the effort to be gracious and loving, you will pave the way to a future of mutual love and affection. Besides, he or she will be--or might already be--the father or mother of your grandchildren. For son and daughter-in-laws, remember that your spouse's parents are the ones who raised the woman or man that you love. You might not agree with everything they did or do, but you should be appreciative of the fact that they had a large part in the person you married. One final note of caution: Sometimes, a relationship isn't possible because of an unsafe environment or abuse. In that case, limiting or eliminating contact might be your only option. Seek the counsel of a pastor or therapist to help you and your spouse navigate that path to ensure you are not contributing to the problem and that you will be open to future exchanges with the in-laws should the situation change. Having a healthy relationship with your in-laws takes effort, but the payoff is worth it. After all, these are the grandparents of your kids — or the parents of your grandchildren.
