Senator Kashamu Is After My Life - Gbenga Daniels Cries Out | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 03:20 AM PDT

Former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has cried out over fear of being assassinated. He has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Mr. Lawal Daura.
In the petition, Daniel accused a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Senator representing Ogun East, Senator Buruji Kashamu, of being behind the alleged plot.

Kashamu on his part has, however, denied the allegation, accusing the former governor of having a sinister plot against him. He added it was Daniel's plan to steer everyone's attention from his plan to later attack him.

Daniel in the petition, titled, "Assassination Attempt on my Person; Main Suspect, Senator Buruji Kashamu," said that five hefty men, two of whom were in military uniforms and three others in black clothes, were at his residence in Maitama, Abuja on Thursday around 9:13 pm, and asked that the gate be opened for them.

The petition read in part, "The gatekeeper peeped through the pedestrian gate, asking for their identities and mission, they refused to wind down their car window. The gatekeeper then opened the pedestrian gate to continue with his enquiries.

"They asked for his boss 'OGD' (the acronym for my full name, Otunba Gbenga Daniel) and he told them that I was not at home. The five men instantly alighted from the car and pushed the gatekeeper inside the compound. They started beating him, saying he was lying and that they had information that I was at home.

"They thereafter asked him how many policemen were in the house and he told them that there were five. They asked him to show them where the policemen were. He led them to the Boys' Quarters, where they found one of the policemen lying down. Then they asked for his service gun.

"He told them that it was not with him, then they pushed him inside the toilet and locked the door. They returned to the gatekeeper and told him to start showing them round the house, and where the other policemen were. They insisted that they had accurate information that 'OGD' was in Abuja and at home."

He continued saying the men were armed with pistols or shotguns, while one of them, who allegedly had a bigger gun, stood at the gate to watch as the operation continued.

He also alleged that Kashamu was the number one suspect in the alleged plan to kill him, adding that those sent to kill him were not aware that he had left Abuja for Ibadan to attend a political meeting.

He said the petition was written to alert the "the police authorities about the evil intention of Senator Buruji Kashamu" and to request for additional security protection.

"I want to inform the Nigeria Police and security agencies that they should put Buruji Kashamu on security watch list and under strict surveillance."

Kashamu, however, told our correspondent that Daniel was lying, saying he had never been involved in violence in his life.

He said, "I have never been involved in any violence. It is Daniel who is into violence. He is merely playing politics, and his actions are because of Ogun and South-West politics and the PDP.

"I was aware that he was at Ibadan with the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, while I was in my office in Lagos. He knows my house and we have been to each other's houses on many occasions.

"The petition is all lies. It doesn't make sense at all. I hope he's not planning to attack and kill me. He could be using this as an opportunity to kill me. I can't kill or be involved in any crisis, but I can only use the courts to protect myself. Daniel knows this."
Kasumu, has now called on the security agencies to investigate the claim by the former governor, adding that at the end of the day, the truth would prevail.

PHOTOS: Electric Cars Coming To Nigerian... here's all you need to know

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 02:46 AM PDT

Malik Ado-Ibrahim, first African to lead the Formula 1 Team global race car competition in 1999, has revealed plans for his automobile firm to introduce electric cars into Nigerian market in 2018.

Nigus Enfinity, an indigenous firm, says it will introduce electric cars into the Nigerian automobile market in 2018 and that its local assembly plant for electric vehicles will be ready in 2020.

Malik Ado-Ibrahim, chairman of the company, made this known to journalists in an interactive session which held in Abuja on Thursday. Another photo...

Ado-Ibrahim said several countries across the world have set targets for the ban of petrol-fuelled vehicles with India targeting 2030, and the United Kingdom, 2040.

He said Nigeria and Africa need to look inward to be at the fore of the automotive revolution or risk becoming waste bin for banned vehicles from other countries.

Ado-Ibrahim said his firm is already building a 100 megawatts (mw) solar power plant in Katsina and another in Adamawa state.

According to him, the company has also partnered with Build Your Dreams, a Chinese firm, to import electric vehicles at affordable costs from 2018.

Top 5 African Safari Destinations For An Unforgetable Getaway

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 02:21 AM PDT

There is no doubt that Africa is endowed with infinite tourist destinations. As such, it won't be difficult to find destinations to visit in the continent. This is same for those who want to go on a safari.

Tourists get to experience and observe the sights and sounds of animals in their untapped and natural habitat. Truly, there is nothing more thrilling like an African safari.

So, if you plan on going on an African safari, here are the 5 best destinations you should include in your itinerary as identified by Jumia Travel.

Masai Mara National Park in Kenya
The Masai Mara National Park in Kenya is unarguably one of the most popular destinations in Africa to experience wildlife. It is located in the extreme southwest of the country on the border with Tanzania. It covers over 1,500 square kilometers. You can see the Big Five including Lion, Elephant, Rhinoceros, Buffalo, and Leopard. In addition to this, you can interact and engage with the rich Masai Mara culture after hiking at the park.

Serengeti National Park in Tanzania
The closeness of the Serengeti National Park to the Massai Mara means both are competing for the attention of tourists. This said, for the Serengeti National park, the open environment makes it easier for tourists to watch wild animals in action. Interestingly, the Serengeti is much larger than the Maasai Mara, and as such it often feels less crowded.

Kruger National Park in South Africa
This is the best option for tourists who are going on an African safari for the first time. This is because visitors can select from a wide variety of hotels that suits their lifestyle. It is situated in the northeast of the country on the Mozambique border. Kruger National Park is the most popular of South Africa's many game reserves. You can see the Big Five and the park is home to endangered animals like Cheetahs and wild dogs.

Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe
The Hwange National Park covers 14,650 square kilometres of land and it is located in the west of the country. It is possibly the least crowded of Southern Africa's major safari destinations. The park has a large elephant and Buffalo population.

Yankari Games Reserve in Nigeria
Yankari Game Reserve is Nigeria's richest wildlife hub. It holds the largest surviving elephant population in Nigeria. In addition, Yankari Game Reserve also supports important populations of Lion, Buffalo, Hippo, Roan, and Hartebeest. The reserve covers a total area of 2,244 km. It is located in Bauchi State, North Eastern, Nigeria.

Medical doctors associations to Buhari: Use Aso Rock Clinic henceforth | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 02:20 AM PDT

The Commonwealth Medical Association and the Nigerian Medic
al Association have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to, henceforth, use the State House Medical Centre, also known as Aso Rock Clinic.

While the CMA said the President should lead by example and desist from travelling abroad for medical treatment, the NMA said it was not opposed to him travelling to get a second opinion on his health.

The NMA, however, joined the CMA to urge the President to upgrade the Aso Rock Clinic and all public health institutions across the country to the level of the hospital that he used in London. They said upgrading the clinic and the President's subsequent patronage of the centre would be the only way to justify the billions of naira budgeted annually for the running of the clinic.

The Vice-President, Commonwealth Medical Association, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, while speaking on the President's recent medical vacation to the United Kingdom, where he spent 104 days, told Saturday PUNCH that it was highly embarrassing for political office holders in the country to seek medical care abroad.

Enabulele, said,
"The country needs to think of how to reverse this unfortunate trend. Nigeria is in a recession and this is not the time for us to drain our economy by political office holders, whose expenses are borne by the state. I hope and pray that we will have the right leadership that will act by example to sort this out because that is the first step.
"This would give greater confidence to other Nigerians to explore the available medical services in the country. Leaders at all levels need to look beyond their individualism to say, 'If I want people to utilise health care services in my country, I have to show that I believe in those facilities by utilising them'.

"So, I will urge all political holders, including Mr. President, to try to live by example. The President should try as much as possible, irrespective of what may be the problem, to see how he can stay in the country and see how he can get his medical needs attended to at the State House Clinic, even if it means importing facilities that are not available here.
"In any case, if N3.16bn was budgeted for the State House Clinic in 2016 and 2017, I will expect that the money is supposed to improve the clinic to a global standard that will have most of all the needed facilities and equipment. There is no reason whatsoever to say you are looking somewhere else for medical care. It is increasingly embarrassing to see public office holders go outside the shores of Nigeria to look for care."

Meanwhile, the President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Prof. Mike Ogirima, said if the Aso Rock Clinic was well equipped, the President would not have been travelling outside the country to receive medical care, given that the country had the expertise to treat his ailment.

He said,
"We are appealing to the President to replicate whatever experience he had in London here at home. He should equip our hospitals. We can't keep funding the Aso Villa Clinic if it's not being used. That clinic should be equipped so as to cater for the President's medical need.

Truths About The Universe You Can Share To Demonstrate The Power Of God

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 01:51 AM PDT

If you've raised your children to believe Christianity is true, you probably want them to continue to believe it's true, especially through their critical university years. There are good reasons to be concerned for young Christians once they leave our care. Statistically, most will walk away from the Church (and their belief in God) during their college years.

What can we, as parents, do to address this growing problem? How can we help our children know that truly God exists?

As a cold-case detective, parent, and prior youth pastor, I have a suggestion: master the case for God's existence and start sharing it with your kids at an early age. Sounds simple, right? Maybe, or maybe not. If your kids asked you to defend the existence of God right now, what would say? What evidences would you provide? Are you ready to make the case for what you believe, even as the world around us often makes the case against God's existence? Don't panic, you don't have to be a theologian, philosopher or scientist to defend the truth. All you need to be is interested.

It's not hard to be interested when the spiritual fate of our kids is hanging in the balance. Make a commitment to investigate the case for God's existence so you can communicate it to your kids. The Apostle Paul was correct when he said that God's "invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made" (Romans 1:20). We've written God's Crime Scene for Kids to help you and your children investigate everything "that has been made." Along the way, you'll discover four truths that will help your kids demonstrate the existence of God:

1. Our Universe Requires a Divine "First Cause"
Scientists have determined that our universe is not infinitely old. In fact, they now believe that everything in the universe, all space, time and matter, had a beginning in the distant past. Everything that begins to exist must have a cause. What could account for the beginning of the universe?

One thing is certain: whatever caused the cosmos must be something other than space, time or matter (since these didn't exist prior to the beginning of the universe). That means we're looking for something non-spatial, non-temporal, non-material, and incredibly powerful. Sounds a lot like God, doesn't it?

2. Life in the Universe Requires a Divine "Author"
Scientists have also determined that life in the universe is formed and guided by information. Biological organisms (like humans) possess deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules. The nucleotide sequence in DNA is an incredibly long (and sophisticated) code that guides the growth, development, function and reproduction of every living organism.

But where does the information in DNA come from? Did this incredibly complex series of instructions come about by chance? Was it caused by the laws of physics or some process of evolution? No. The best explanation for information is intelligence. The information in DNA requires an intelligent author. Once again, God is the most reasonable explanation.

3. Moral Laws in the Universe Require a Divine "Law Giver"
All of us recognize the existence of moral laws and obligations. While some behaviors (like stealing or lying) may be justified on rare occasion (to save the life of an innocent person, for example), it's never morally acceptable to steal or lie for the fun of it. This is true for all of us, regardless of when we have lived in history or where we have lived on the planet. These objective moral laws also describe obligations between persons. No one, for example, is morally obligated to the laws of physics or chemistry.

All laws such as these require law givers. Objective laws and obligations that transcend all of us require an objective, personal law giver who transcends all of us. Once again, God is the best explanation for the moral laws and obligations we all recognize.

4. Evil in the Universe Requires a Divine "Standard"
Some people point to evil as an evidence against the existence of God. Why would an all-powerful, all-loving God allow bad things to happen? Is He unable to stop them? Is He simply unwilling to prevent them? In either case, the existence of evil seems to invalidate our definition of God as an all-powerful and all-loving Being.

But what defines something as evil in the first place? Is something "evil" simply because we don't personally approve of it, or do we believe some acts are truly evil, regardless of our opinion? If the latter is true, we would need an objective, transcendent standard of good by which to judge any particular act. The existence of God offers such a standard, and God often allows and uses temporal evil to develop our eternal character, draw us to himself, and achieve a greater good (if not immediately, over the course of history). Evil doesn't disprove God's existence, but instead requires a standard of good to be anything more than a matter of opinion. Only God can provide such a standard.

How To Start The Race God Has Called You To Run

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 12:46 AM PDT

I have a love-hate relationship with running. I love how I feel after a good run. I love how heathy it is for me. But I hate the soreness, the fatigue, and the pushing myself to the limit. However, I run when I can anyways because I know the benefits of running outweigh its challenges.

In the same way our living for Jesus is a lot like running. It's the best thing for us but it certainly has its challenges and obstacles to overcome in order for us to experience its benefits.

I think this is why throughout the Bible we find our relationship with Jesus compared to a race. We're called to do a lot of things our flesh doesn't initially want to do but we choose Christ over the desires of our flesh because we know ultimately Jesus is better for our souls. So we sacrifice and carry our crosses to experience the full life Christ promised. Except of course when we don't. Sometimes we find ourselves just wanting to quit. I've learned it's during these times we've probably grown tired or lost perspective. So today I'm providing 7 ways to embrace the race God has called you to run.

1. Understand This is God's Race
"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." - Acts 20:24 NIV

This race will benefit you but it's not all about you. God has called you to be His ambassador for the building of His kingdom. If we lose sight of this and start running for our own goals we'll be quickly disappointed. But if we realize we're running for something greater than ourselves we'll find the motivation to run farther than we could on our own.

2. Maintain an Eternal Perspective
"Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize." - 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 NIV

The strict training you may endure in this race is not for a temporary prize. It's for an eternal prize. When we realize we are running for something that will last forever it fuels us to know that though this run is difficult, it's also more than worth it.

3. Focus on Christ
"Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." - Hebrews 12:2-3 NIV

Focusing on Christ is key to embracing this race. When we consider Christ we realize He's not asking us to do something He didn't do Himself. Christ's race was much more difficult than ours yet He ran it for us. Allow His act of sacrificial love to fuel you for your own race because if we lose focus we'll start heading in the wrong direction.

4. Take off the Weights
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us," - Hebrews 12:1 NIV

This race we are running is certainly not a sprint. It's one we'll be running for the rest of our lives so we need to pace ourselves. We also need to make sure there is nothing weighting us down and slowing us from reaching our prize. What weights is down? Sin. Sin is the very thing that distances us from fixing our eyes on Jesus and staying focused on Him. Sin is only going to make this race harder than it already is. So always be praying for the strength to overcome sin so you can run this race with endurance.

5. Keep Your Lane Clear
"You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?" - Galatians 5:7 NIV

Your eyes are focused on Christ and the weights are off but also make sure you're not running next to others that will cut you off. "Bad company corrupts good character." (1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV) If you want to better embrace your race be sure not to run close to those who may get you off course . Instead, find a friend with the same focus as you who keeps you motivated to reach the prize. Then make sure you're being that type of friend to someone else.

6. Don't give up too soon
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." - 1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV

Although we'll be running this race for the remainder of our lives we'll also experience small victories along the way. We'll be tempted to give up but I encourage you not to. We're not running until we feel like quitting. We're running to get the prize. So keep going in until you do.

7. Finish Strong
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7 NIV

This whole race is about your faith. Will you keep the faith until the end? Some days will be easier than others so I want to end with reminding you that the race you're running is a good one. It's worth it. So keep running, never give up, and finish strong.

Where Do You Really Put Your Faith?

Posted: 26 Aug 2017 12:01 AM PDT

As Christians, we are aware of specific things that are simply part of the faith. Most of us know the Bible calls us to tithe. We also probably know we should volunteer our time at a food bank or at our church. And one Sunday when our children are small, we dress them up and bring them to church because tradition dictates we should christen or dedicate them.

We act in obedience, but sometimes we are just hedging our bets against the things we know we can't control. We check the boxes of what God "expects" and think, surely that's enough.

In these uncertain times, God can't ask for more than that. So we go back to our regular lives, with all the day-to-day stresses and unanswered questions about the future. We put our faith in what we can see — our bank accounts, our work ethic, our government, our families...

We push aside the needs of others, thinking government services, disaster relief funds, and other people will solve those problems. We have too much on our plates already as we try to control everything around us, worrying about the future.

Like the disciples, we doubt what we cannot see. We fear what we cannot control.

And that's just the way the enemy wants it. In the spiritual war that rages around us, fear is one of Satan's greatest weapons. He uses fearful thinking to drive unbelief, creating a wedge between our human interpretations and God's divine and holy provision. He dissuades us from sacrifice, whispering that God doesn't really care about our day-to-day lives. He blocks us from receiving the fullness of God's blessing by focusing our attention on other things — on idols.

One of my favorite verses is Jonah 2:8–9: "Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God's love for them. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good."

This was a hard-learned lesson for the prophet Jonah, whom my mother used to quiz me about many years ago. God had called him to preach to the Assyrian people of Nineveh, longtime enemies of the Israelites. Jonah didn't want to go. He tried to run away instead, jumping on a boat that was going anywhere except to the place where God had called him. But God sent a storm that tossed the boat and threatened the lives of everyone on board. Knowing this was his punishment, Jonah told the sailors to throw him overboard to save their own lives. They did, and a "huge fish" swallowed Jonah, saving his life but putting him in an uncomfortable position. After three days of surviving inside the fish, Jonah came to his senses and called out to the Lord for help.

When we put anything ahead of God in our hearts — even our own safety, as Jonah did — we turn our backs on God's love and forfeit our place in his provision. Imagine choosing to forfeit "amazing grace" to cling to a false god. By surrendering these idols, we open up space in our lives to receive God's mercy and grace.

Idols are the things we feel are too important to give to God. They are, even when we know better than to use the words, the things that are more important to us than God.

The enemy knows our weak spots. He knows we want to protect our children, to provide for our families, to not be a burden. He tells us our first priority must be our own comfort and security, especially in indigent and uncertain times. Satan preys on our fears and convinces us we must rely on ourselves to secure our situation.

The tentacles of disbelief slide into our faith, weakening it, and we start to trust our bank accounts more than the One who gave them to us. Will a consecrated dollar or person or decision really be different from one that's not consecrated?

I want to be clear: money, in itself, is not wrong. It is a necessary and useful commodity to keep the practical systems running smoothly. Moreover, wealth in and of itself is not condemned in the Bible. Several figures in the Old and New Testaments are noted, without negative judgment, as being wealthy: Abraham, Jacob, Job, King David, Joseph of Arimathea, Philemon, and Aquila and Priscilla.

However, making money into an idol and turning to it instead of to God leads us into Satan's trap and away from God's best plan for us. God — not money — is our provider. Often the test as to whether money has become an idol is the extent to which we are willing to risk it for God's kingdom.

We can rely on God or money but not on both. At times, you may feel you have everything under control, that you are being a wise steward of your resources. But if the economy has taught us anything in the past decade, it's that we can rely on nothing on this earth. In Proverbs 23:5, we're told that riches can "sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle." Jeremiah 48 and 49 warn of the downfall of various nations due to the ways they trusted in and boasted of their riches, being arrogant in their wealth. Our houses — or at least the value of our houses — might crumble. The savings we tucked away in the bank, counting on them to be safe for the future, can be taken from us. Human promises of provision might be rescinded.

The idol of money is a counterfeit source of provision and safety. It seems to meet our needs for a season, but in the end — whether we have a million dollars or a pile of debt — it will enslave us and leave us desperate.

Only God will never fail. Only he can be trusted to protect and use what is His.

Everything we have is His.

5 Ways To Publicize Your Business For Free

Posted: 25 Aug 2017 11:21 PM PDT

At the early stages of business development, free publicity can be a such a saving grace for start-ups, helping them save cost and drive sustainability, while giving the business much needed public exposure at the same time.

Jumia Travel shares 5 ways to publicize your business for free.

Take Advantage of Free Guest Blogging Communities
You can write and publish guest posts on well-trafficked sites in your niche, and take advantage of free guest blogging communities and use them as a good starting point for publicity. Try to refrain from making the article you intend to guest post too promotional, but make it clear enough for anyone who reads to come away knowing one or two vital things about your business.

Join Forums Relevant to Your Company's Niche
Join these forums, join their conversations and offer useful and insightful answers to questions asked. Try to be as active as you can on these forums so that you can use the platform to give your business good and needed exposure.

Volunteer Your Company Leaders for Interviews
Try to leverage on some of your media or online contacts to get as many free interviews as you can for your company leaders. The interviews should of course be on subjects related to your company's niche. This might be a bit difficult to get at the get-go (well, no one actually said it will be easy), but if you remain persistent, your efforts will eventually pay off. It's really all about networking, building relationships and leveraging on that to get what you need.

Put Your Products or Services on Online Marketplaces or Classified Advertisement Sites
Take advantage of popular online marketplaces or classified advertisements sites related to your company's niche, and sell your products, as well as market your business there. If it's a hotel you're running, you can consider putting your hotel up on popular hotel booking sites like Jumia Travel, to help market your business and increase exposure for it. Of course, these online marketplaces or booking portals collect some commission for this, but it is nothing compared to what you will spend on publicity and advertisement. You can also consider listing your business in business directories and local business listings.

Be Active on Social Media
There's really no better way to get free marketing for your business than through social media. You need to actively put out interesting, unique and viral-worthy content that can help you build a large following and get more exposure for your business. You can also ask friends, family and even employees to regularly re-post your content. Constantly engage with your followers, answer their questions and solicit their feedback. Embrace social media as a tool for marketing your business, and dedicate time to build on it to get some much needed exposure for your business. Occasionally, you can also hold contests and give one or two things away to your followers. People love free things and this can easily help you with free word-of-mouth marketing, because people are bound to talk about it.

President Muhammadu Buhari has taken a swipe at those who held #ResumeOrResign protest in front of the Abuja House in London, United Kingdom, saying he hopes they would also join him in Nigeria now that he had returned home.

The President said now that he had returned to Nigeria, he hoped that those Nigerians would also return home.Speaking at a meeting he had with state governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,he said

"I am very happy with the national prayers that cut across religions and ethnicity; people were praying.
"In fact, some groups in London came and sang the national anthem and asked that I should go back home. Indeed, I have come back home. I hope those who went there are not stuck there. (I hope) they will come back and join us.
"Those that are stuck there with the Brexit, I hope they have weighed the implications that it won't affect them, including those that have property there.

French President Macron spends $30,000 on make-up in 100 days | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 25 Aug 2017 10:10 PM PDT

France's President Emmanuel Macron ,39 has run up a make-up bill of $30,000 (€26,000) in his first 100 days in office, offering fresh ammunition to his critics.

The bill, revealed by Le Point magazine and confirmed by the presidency to AFP on Friday, was paid to a freelance make-up artist for work since the centrist took power in mid-May.

It recalled an embarrassing revelation about the balding former president Francois Hollande who was forced to admit to employing a private hairdresser on a pre-tax monthly salary of nearly €10,000 ($11,800).

Opponents seized on the total of the make-up bills — one for €10,000s and another for €16,000 — with most of the French media publishing stories about the issue.

"While France is slaving away, Macron is spreading (the equivalent of) 23 times the minimum wage on his face," wrote far-right strategist Florian Philippot on Twitter.

A source in the presidency told BFM television that future costs would be "significantly reduced," while claiming that both Hollande and former right-wing president Nicolas Sarkozy spent more on make-up.

A beauty writer in Britain's The Telegraph newspaper offered some tips for some cheaper male cosmetics in an article entitled "How President Macron could save himself £8,000 on make-up a month."

Many male politicians in the West wear foundation while making media appearances to counter the bleaching effect of studio lights or flash photography, as well as concealer to cover up signs of under-eye fatigue.

The leak to Le Point comes at a bad time for France's youngest-ever president whose approval ratings have fallen sharply since his victory in May standing in his first ever election.

A recent poll showed that only 37 percent of French people were happy with his performance so far and he faces a tricky battle to ram through promised labour market reforms next month.

Earlier this month, Macron's wife Brigitte, his former school teacher who is 25 years older than him, joked about the difficulties of living with her youthful husband during an interview with Elle magazine.

"The 20 years of age difference… it's really nothing," she said. "Of course, when we're having breakfast, there's me with my wrinkles and him looking fresh, but it's like that

How I escaped being shot on my birthday –Angela Okorie | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 25 Aug 2017 10:10 PM PDT

Just last week, Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, turned a year older revealed he was almost shot on her birthday.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, the actress said she was accosted by men of the underworld after her charity event to celebrate her birthday.

She said,

"I am grateful to God for life. I am a humanitarian and I am always happy whenever I give back to the society. That was why I celebrated my birthday with the underprivileged."
"My brother was driving and since the road was rough, he had to slow down because of a pothole. All of a sudden, he just told me to bend my head in the car because I was not concentrating. By the time I would realise what was happening, some armed robbers had double crossed us and they alighted from their cars with guns. They approached our car and cocked their guns, ready to shoot. They almost shot us but before we knew it, some officers of the Nigerian Customs Service showed up from nowhere. They intervened and immediately, my brother seized the opportunity to zoom off. That was how we were saved.
"I believe it was God that sent those Customs guys to us because they were not on the road and they came out from nowhere. When I saw the robbers, I was scared but I had faith in God. I wonder what would have happened if God was not on my side."

She is gullible-Ex-husband of 72-yr-old British grandma married to Nigerian, 27 speaks | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 25 Aug 2017 09:40 PM PDT

MR. Donald Neate , ex-husband of the 72-year-old British grandmother of six, who married a Nigerian man 45 years her junior, says she will "have to deal with the consequences" of her action at some point.
Neate, 71, told the Daily Mail she is"quite gullible"and has "got herself into a problem that she will have to deal with."
Mrs Angela Nwachukwu, from Weymouth, Dorset, is fighting for a visa for new husband CJ Nwachukwu, 27, who she married three months after he added her on Facebook and struck up a conversation.

They live 6437 kilometres (4000 miles) apart and met face-to-face for the first time on their wedding day.
His application for visa to move to Britain to live together with her has been refused even after retired taxi driver Mrs Nwachukwu has spent £20,000 on him, including lawyers to help with the visas and flights to visit him.
Nwachukwu, according to his wife, has already repaid £10,000 of the amount.
Mr Neate and Angela parted ways in 1999, the former lorry driver from Bristol said.
"We separated 18 years ago and haven't had any contact since," he said.

'The first time I knew about it was when I read the papers. She has been scammed by a man who just wants to get into the country.'
Mrs Nwachukwu said she couldn't help but fall for her lover from Nigeria, when they started talking, and is devastated that their applications for visas have failed.
She said she had been left lonely and isolated after the breakdown of her marriage, six months before they met online.
One day she found a message and a friend request from Mr Nwachukwu, and couldn't see the harm in striking up conversation.
She said: "He was so handsome, with big, brown eyes and a body to match. We chatted for hours about our families and hobbies. It was like we'd known each other for years. Before I knew it, we were messaging daily.
"Despite our huge age gap, we got on really well. I couldn't help it and began to develop feelings for him. I tried to stop myself.
He proposed to her on Skype, and she gleefully accepted.

The pair wed in Lagos, and have since seen each other twice, as she has flown there to visit him.
Mr Nwachukwu has been denied a tourist visa to see his wife, and their applications have been turned down because it's thought they won't have financial backing.

Mrs Nwachukwu refuses to accept suggestions that the marriage is a scam. She is convinced he will be able to get a student visa for a Masters degree in the UK.
Mr Nwachukwu has to be able to show he can support himself or be supported to be granted a Marriage Visitor visa, by the rules of the Home Office.
Under the visa for visitors, the trip must be no longer than six months, and applicants should prove they will leave at the end.

Hurricane Harvey:Residents asked to evacuate as biggest storm since Katrina slams into Texas coast | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 25 Aug 2017 09:10 PM PDT

Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the Texas coast late Friday, with high winds and rain battering coastal and inland communities.
The National Hurricane Center upgraded the storm to Category 4 Friday, with sustained winds of 130 miles an hour. It swept ashore about 9:45 p.m. between Port Aransas and Port O'Connor, just northeast of Corpus Christi.

President Trump signed a disaster proclamation, allocating federal funds for state and local relief efforts.

According to the New York Times, Gov. Greg Abbott warned at a news conference that the storm was shaping up to be "more dangerous" than previous hurricanes because of the potential for widespread flooding that could leave Texas in the storm's grip for at least "a week if not longer. There are fears that it may be worse than Hurricane Katrina, which left more than 1,800 people dead in 2005.

Gov. Greg Abbott warned of record-setting flooding and called on people to flee the area before the storm hits.
"My top goal is to be able to make it through this storm in a way in which we lose no lives," Abbott said. "Put your life first and your property second."
The combination of wind and water could leave wide swaths of South Texas "uninhabitable for weeks or months," the National Weather Service in Houston said.

The threat has prompted officials in at least one town to ask residents who stay behind to write their Social Security numbers on one of their arms in case. It will make identifying bodies easier.
