Where does your husband go to find Admiration & Respect? Posted: 23 Jul 2017 03:46 AM PDT "A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones." - Proverbs 12:4 If you asked every wife which she would rather be, a wife of noble character or a disgraceful wife, I would venture to guess that about 99.9% of the time she would say she would rather be a wife of noble character. I don't know about you, but I like the idea of being my husband's "crown;" his beautiful adornment, his status symbol. I don't like making blanket assumptions, but I hope you'll forgive me and allow me to make a general statement for the purposes of this post. Generally, wives desire love and affection while husbands desire respect and admiration. Yes, there are always exceptions, and everyone requires and deserves respect. But there is a difference in the way that is shown between husbands and wives. Our husbands need to know that we admire, appreciate, and respect them. Sure, they know we love them, but do we actively notice what they do for us? Do we show them that we recognize the vital role they play in our lives and the lives of our children? It's so easy to get into the habit of only noticing what our husbands don't do and all the things we have to do. How often do we give them credit for the ways they make our lives easier? I am guiltier of this than anyone I know. I am so quick to point out when my husband is the opposite of helpful or when he screws up. Whenever he does something worthy of my admiration, I write it off as something he should do anyway. It's an unfair double standard. Men need appreciation just like we do. And as much as I hate to point it out, if your husband doesn't get admiration, respect, and appreciation at home, he will go somewhere else to get it. Sometimes that "somewhere" is innocent, and sometimes it's not. Finding admiration and appreciation from other sources is never inherently a bad thing, but it is something that can quickly grow to become a larger problem if we are not careful. Men will find admiration and respect from somewhere. Sometimes it's their jobs, sometimes it's their mother or their children, sometimes it's their friends, and sometimes they will find the admiration they desire from another woman. I am not saying that if your spouse cheats on you it's your fault. I am also not saying that all of the pressure of respect in the marriage lies on the wife. Marriage requires two people working as hard as they can to make the marriage work. It's a team effort and there are no team-carrying superstars. Search your heart as you read this. If you find yourself thinking, "Yes, but my spouse also needs to…" or "But what about my wife/husband?" or "Yeah, but he isn't doing anything to deserve my respect!" Don't make this about what your spouse is doing wrong. That's the problem in so many marriages. We refuse to see where we have gone wrong and keep a laundry list of all the things our spouse has done to hurt us. Make this about what you can do right. We all need to take the time to turn the mirror on ourselves. I am often guilty of not giving my husband the admiration and appreciation he deserves. I am guilty of remembering only the things he does wrong instead of also the things he does right. Is he guilty of things, too? Of course. He's human. But his flaws do not excuse my own. I am only held accountable for my own behavior, and excuses are not a viable option. "However, each of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband." - Ephesians 5:33 Your husband is required to love your life as much as his own, and you are required to respect your husband. According to Google, there are two different definitions of respect. One is a noun: "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements," and the other is a verb: "admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements." This verse doesn't say that you only have to respect your husband if he loves you and treats you well. It just says, "the wife must respect her husband." "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins." - 1 Peter 4:8 No one has a perfect marriage. But some of you are in deeper struggles than others. Sometimes, your husband is not someone you can respect. I understand that. When that is the case, love him. You can love your husband when you aren't able to respect him, and "love covers a multitude of sins." When you love your spouse selflessly and unconditionally, then eventually he is going to notice. "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." - Ephesians 4:2-3 And when your spouse has gone beyond the boundaries of what your love is able to help, then meditate on this verse from Ephesians. Be humble. Be gentle. Be patient. Love your spouse anyway. Make every effort to keep the "unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." That doesn't mean roll over and let someone take advantage of you. It just means to keep unity by being humble, gentle, patient, and by loving one another. There is no blanket answer to fix a marriage that is struggling. I hope that's not what you expected this post to be. But there are instructions we can take from the bible and try to fit to our situations. For some, the solution to marital distress is as simple as learning to show your appreciation in a way that your spouse understands and receives. For others, the rift between the two spouses is bigger. Never let the idea of seeking counseling make you feel like a failure. I truly believe that most small issues in marriages can be solved by each spouse focusing on loving and respecting the other and by showing that love and respect in a way that the spouse needs it shown. So, where does your husband go to be admired and appreciated? If it isn't first to you, his wife, then maybe you should pray and ask God to show you how you can be the steadiest and most important source of admiration and appreciation for your husband. Sad story of three children whose mother murdered their father | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 23 Jul 2017 01:38 AM PDT For the three children of the late Alhaji Hakeem Salaudeen, life suddenly turned upside down recently, when their mother, 39-year-old Omotayo allegedly connived with an ex-convict, Oladapo Dolapo, to murder him. The tragic incident has put the children in a pathetic condition of having to fend for themselves while their mother is now gnashing her teeth in regret in custody at Ilesa Prison, where she was remanded by the court following her arraignment by the Osun State Police Command. The children, Barakat, 17, Uthman, 15 and 12-year-old Fatima, despite urgings by members of the extended family, have elected to continue residing in their parents' home, to keep it warm and open, as it were, rather than relocate to the family house in the Agowande area of Osogbo. Since the gruesome murder of their father, they have been living alone in the big apartment located on the sleepy street. One of the children, Uthman , told Sunday Sun they preferred to live in the house alone located in a suburb of Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State. "We can only go out when we want to visit our grandma," they said together. The grandmother he referred to is the 95-year-old mother of their late dad, and who is fondly called Alhaja Mosobalaje. Prodded to explain how they have been coping, especially with respect to food, Barakat said: "We still have foodstuff in the house. The foodstuff that mummy bought is still remaining. That is what we are eating now." But how will they survive if the food finishes, Sunday Sun sought to know, and she said: "We don't know. That is why we want the law enforcement agents to forgive our mummy so that she can come back home and take care of us. Family members alone can't do everything for us."At this point, the three children could no longer hold back tears and they began to sob, wondering what would become of the beautiful plans their father laid for them. Sunday Sun gathered that Salaudeen, who was in his 40s, was gruesomely murdered in his house about 3.00 am by his wife who hired an ex-convict, Oladapo Dolapo. The ex-convict is alleged to have stabbed Salaudeen in the stomach with a knife as his wife choked him with a pillow. At the headquarters of the Osun Police Command, where she was paraded along with her accomplice, Omotayo confessed that she and Dolapo connived to commit the crime. "I choked him with a pillow, after having sex with him and Dolapo stabbed him to death with a knife. I never thought it would turn out this way. I hired Oladapo Dolapo to help me kill my husband." Dolapo, 24, admitted that the woman contracted him to kill the man after promising to give him whatever he wanted if the operation was successful. He disclosed that the deceased's wife, promised him a befitting accommodation and other largesse. In an interaction with Sunday Sun, Omotayo said she had lost interest in her marriage, though she confessed that her husband was a good person who always took care of her needs and the needs of her children. "We've been married for 17 years. We are blessed with three children aged 17, 15 and 12. He did not offend me. I was just mad at him," she said. Sunday Sun's investigations indicated that Omotayo and her accomplice after murdering the man, made it look like armed robbers killed him. To cover up the crime, they made inscriptions on the wall of the house to indicate that the deceased was a member of a cult group, whose members must have come to kill him. The inscriptions read thus: "No price, no pay," "Aye axe," and "Forgiveness is a sin." She collected the deceased's phone which was left on a stool, went to the children's room and also took their only phone, removed other items and gave to the assailant to take away, to make it look like the robbers who killed her husband made away with the items. Sunday Sun gathered that the assailant sold the deceased's phone to a friend. When the crime was reported, MTN was contacted and the police tracked down the buyer. It was the buyer who helped the police to trace the assailant and he was later identified as an ex-convict. The deceased's younger brother, Adetunji Idris Babatunde, who spoke with Sunday Sun, said that his late brother told him two weeks before he was killed that he suspected that his wife was planning to kill him. But when he asked if he had any serious contention with her, the deceased said there was no serious issue between them; but he was just having a feeling that the woman would kill him one day. On the character of the deceased, Babatunde said: " He was a responsible man to the core. He was a businessman and very responsible and committed to his family. He didn't live a wayward life. He even bought a car for the wife. I never met them quarrelling any day. Whenever I visited them, I always noticed that they loved each other." Asked what he could suspect as being responsible for the sudden change in the couple's relationship, Babatunde said it could be due to his late brother's decision to marry the second wife. But did the mother ever complain about his late father's attitude or character in the presence of the children? Uthman said: "Mummy used to complain sometimes that daddy's behaviour towards her had changed since he married the second wife. She used to complain that daddy was not giving her attention like before and was not providing all her needs as he used to do." culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Posted: 23 Jul 2017 01:11 AM PDT Today I am writing with a hot pack on my back, as I struggle to get comfortable in my computer chair. At nearly six months pregnant, my swollen belly is putting constant strain on my back, resulting in continuous back pain. The hot pack helps soothe the pain, but I am reminded that many people cope with pain more severe than this on a daily basis. For some, this pain is not a result of disease or illness, but just a matter of age. Lord willing, the aging process will happen to everyone. As we get older, our bodies slowly deteriorate. We find that the hamburgers that we once ate with gusto now cause us to gain wait and give us heartburn. We move slower. We realize that we cannot open jars as easily as we once could, and find ourselves out of breath at the top of a flight of stairs. This will happen to all of us, to a degree. Our bodies were not designed to work forever. But this is not an excuse to let our working bodies fall into disrepair. Pastor and blogger Tim Challies writes that our bodies are like our finances. As Christians, we know that our finances do not belong to us; God has the rights to everything we have. But we are the representatives of this money, called to be good stewards, and prayerfully spending, saving, and giving in a responsible manner. In the same way, Scripture tells us that we do not own our bodies, but are responsible to care for them, so that they may be used to do the Lord's work. "You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) Challies writes, "Your body is not your own. Your body is God's, to be cared for as he demands, to be committed to his service." In our culture, we can get overloaded with articles that promise "Your Healthiest Life Now" and ads showing amazing body transformations. While some of these methods to obtain a healthy body may be legitimate, Scripture calls us to another method of healthy living. 1. Plan to be fit. Yes, we have to start by talking about physical fitness. Eating right and exercising is at the heart of being a good steward of your body. Paul writes that "... bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" (1 Timothy 4:8). Challies explains, "This is a warning about neglecting spiritual fitness in favor of physical fitness. But it does not diminish the importance of being fit, for Paul still acknowledges it 'is of some value.' While we know that physical strength is fleeting, that it peaks early and goes into long decline, we also know that our bodies, minds, and spirits operate better in a fit body than an unfit one." 2. Guard against idleness. "Laziness leads to a sagging roof; idleness leads to a leaky house." (Ecclesiastes 10:18) This, and many other verses in Scripture point to the value of good work, as opposed to laziness. There is value to true rest, but sitting on the couch binge-watching Netflix is not the kind of rest we need in order to refresh ourselves to continue the work of the Lord. That is plain idleness. "Even a quick study of the biblical teaching of the subject will show that much of our unhealthy living is a result of idleness, of the refusal to prioritize our bodies. Guard against the idleness that keeps you on the couch when you should be active," Challies writes. 3. Guard against gluttony. "Put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony." (Proverbs 23:2) This verse seems incredibly harsh, and yet, gluttony mostly overlooked in the church today. But it's time we paid attention to this silent sin. When we overindulge, we are more likely to become overweight; we may even be on the path to heart disease or diabetes, which has the potential to inhibit our lives and our ability to work for the kingdom. Writes Challies, "Food is a great gift, but it makes a terrible god. Learn to practice self-control toward food and renounce any sign of gluttony." 4. Prepare for the decline. We know that our final years will come one day. We may be in our final years right now. And when the day comes when we find that we simply no longer have our physical health, make sure you still have your spiritual health. "Read Ecclesiastes 12:1-8 as a glimpse of your own biography and ask, "What will sustain me in that day?" The answer is simple: godly character. Nothing but godly character will sustain you as your body decays and your mind weakens. Even while you give attention to your physical health, do not neglect your spiritual wellbeing," Challies says. Brothers and sisters, you are beautiful creations of God. Let us treat ourselves as such, by being good stewards of His marvelous creation. "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." (Psalm 139:14) [written by Carrie Dedrick] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Law School Expels Student Few Days To Bar Final Exams Posted: 23 Jul 2017 12:11 AM PDT A University of Ibadan alumnus, Mr. Kayode Bello popularly called 'Kay Bello' has been expelled from the Nigerian Law School. Until the time of his expulsion, Kayode Bello has been a student of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja campus. The University of Ibadan graduate, who recently concluded the compulsory court attachment programme of the Nigerian Law School has been shown the way out of the Bar programme after a series of face off and encounter between him and the management of the institution. According to The Page, one of his colleagues, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said trouble had started for Kay Bello in Law School when he wrote a petition against the management of the Nigeria Law School over what he alleged as poor social welfare conditions. It was stated that Kay Bello printed fliers and sort to mobilise his colleagues at the Abuja campus of Law school to stand against the management and demand for a better living condition in terms of conducive classrooms and hostel facilities to justify the expensive fees they had paid for the school. However, It was gathered that after Kay Bello wrote the petition and submitted, the leadership of the Students' Representatives Council of the Nigerian Law School in a letter to the management disowned him, stating that he was acting solely on his "own volition" and not representing the students' interest. We later learnt that he was queried and told to withdraw his petition but Kay Bello refused. After the conclusion of the court attachment programme, The Page was informed that there was a summary trial but he failed to show up. In a Phone Call with The Page, Kay Bello confirmed the expulsion from the Nigerian Law School programme and added that he is currently working on getting a bigger platform to protest his expulsion. According to him, "It is in connection with the petition. They want me to beg but you know that I will never beg." Meanwhile, the management has published a poster containing his expulsion information and pasted around the law school campus. Another colleague speaking revealed that when Kay Bello was expelled, he refused to leave and was still using the school's library when security officials had to bundled him out of the institution. Recall that he was earlier rusticated from the University of Ibadan on April 13, 2010 following his involvement in a protest over hike in school fees in 2008. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

5 Things You Shouldn't Forget Before Traveling Posted: 22 Jul 2017 11:26 PM PDT It's important to have a checklist of things you must never forget before traveling, to help keep them in mind. Jumia Travel shares 5 things you shouldn't forget before traveling. Copies of Important Documents It is not enough to just have a copy of important documents when you travel, you should have copies of them. This can prove to be a 'lifesaver' for you if or when you find yourself in emergency situations. Also, if you know you're the forgetful type, you'll probably need a lot more than one copy of important documents so you don't end up stranded or in a tight corner if you happen to forget or misplace it. First Aid Kit This is especially useful if you're travelling to an unfamiliar state, country or area. Rather than wasting time trying to find a pharmacy, it is best to have a first aid kit with all the necessary pills and medicines you might need in case of an emergency. This is to save you from the stress of looking far and wide for a pharmacy in an area you are more or less a stranger in. Also, you should find out if any of the medicines you are taking along need a prescription in the area, state or country you are traveling to, so you can get the necessary prescriptions and save yourself from avoidable legal troubles. Multiple Adapter Plugs Much like with having a first aid kit, especially when you're traveling overseas, you should try to ensure you have multiple adapter plugs with you for your smartphones, tablets, laptops, cameras etc. Try to have the appropriate plug or adapter for the area of the world you are visiting because not having one can end up being a nightmare for you. You'll eventually have to search here and there, in an unfamiliar area, for a shop to buy said plug or adapter and might most times end up paying more money for it. Essential Travel Apps and Devices Technological innovation has really made things much easier for travelers and the development of travel apps and devices are just two of such technological innovations. There are essential travel apps like maps, dictionaries etc., and even tracking devices that can help you keep track of the location of your luggage at all times. Depending on the country you're visiting, you can find the right travel app or device that works and that can help maximize your travel experience. Your Money Options This is obvious enough but this is a list about the things that must not be forgotten before traveling so it has to be mentioned. Ensure you have several money options available to you before traveling and call your bank to inform them of your travel plans, so they can take the necessary actions. If you can, it is advisable to take more than one type of card with you. For example, rather than taking all Mastercard cards, try to include a VISA card too, just in case. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Joelle Barozzini, 46, reportedly passed herself off in public as his girlfriend, claiming she had a disease which caused premature ageing. The brunette is said to have started the abuse at a party in Greensburg, Pennsylvania when he was just 16. "I was nervous," he told a court. "She kissed me. She grabbed me by the hand and pulled me into her room."They had sex with the bedroom door open while Barozzini's husband was asleep on a sofa, he said. "I was just really scared that somebody was going to see. I was kind of frightened. I really didn't know what to do."He said he and Barozzini had sex "hundreds of times" in several rooms of her five bedroom home and in hotels when she took him away for weekends. "I was honestly too nervous to say no," he testified. "Every single time, just about, would be against my will."Barozzini reportedly texted him nude selfies, gave him alcohol and said things such as: "We're boyfriend and girlfriend." He added: "There was times when it was not happening at all and she wanted to go back to play the mother role, as she would call it. "And there was times it was daily or every other day."The alleged victim, now 24, said he tried to tell a relative and a pal about the abuse but they did not believe him. He added "there were sweet moments," and Barozzini was upset when he moved out in 2013. Prosecutor Jim Lazar accused Barozzini of using "psychological coercion" to keep the teen from telling anyone about the sex. District Judge James Albert ordered Barozzini to stand trial on on a string of charges including rape, sexual assault and corruption of minors, reports says Tribune-Review . She is out on $50,000 bond. UK SUN culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

(Photo)198 Saudi Arabia illegal returnees arrive Kano | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 22 Jul 2017 01:53 PM PDT The Federal Government on Saturday received no fewer than 198 Nigerians illegally residing in Saudi Arabia at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at about 10 am. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this number was out of the 1,800 Nigerians living illegally in Saudi Arabia, who were given amnesty to return to the country. NAN reports that the 198 persons including women and children returned with their luggage on board a Med-View aircraft. Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Kano received the first batch of the returnees. Mohammed Yahaya-Sani, the Consular at the Nigerian Consulate in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, who led the illegal immigrants to Nigeria, told newsmen at the airport that the Federal Government sponsored their return. According to him, the illegal migrants voluntarily reported to the Nigerian Embassy to be returned to Nigeria in compliance with the three months evacuation notice issued to them by Saudi authorities, which will expire on July 24. Yahaya-Sani said that contrary to speculations, the returnees were not deported rather they voluntarily accepted the amnesty offer granted them by the Saudi authorities for illegal immigrants to leave the country. "They decided on their own to return to Nigeria. The Saudi authorities offered amnesty to all illegal immigrants to leave the country within three months," he said. The official handed over the returnees to NEMA officials at the airport who witnessed and documented their returns before they later departed to their various towns and villages. Former escort sentenced to 16 years for attempting to kill her husband | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 22 Jul 2017 12:58 PM PDT A former Florida escort who landed on a "Cops" episode after attempting to hire a hitman to murder her husband was sentenced to 16 years behind bars. Dalia Dippolito in 2009 was recorded telling an undercover detective she was "5,000% sure" she wanted him to kill her husband, and a jury last month convicted her on a charge of solicitation of first-degree murder. It took the six-member jury just an hour and a half to return with their guilty verdict in Dippolito's third trial, potentially ending eight years of litigation. A jury previously convicted Dippolito and sentenced her to 20 years in prison in 2011, but it was later tossed on an appeal and a retrial last fall ended with a 3-3 hung jury. Listen, when I met her, it was very exciting," Michael Dippolito said. "We got along really well. Our sex life was amazing and that was part of the whole reason, you know I was so into her and I thought she was into me." The trial mostly hinged on a 23-minute video in which Dippolito agreed to pay undercover officer Widy Jean $7,000 to put two bullet's in her husband's head. The pair discussed a series of strategies, but eventually settled on a botched burglary for their cover. Prosecutors alleged she wanted control of their town house as well as her husband's savings. Dippolito was sentenced to serve 16 years in a state prison, with credit for 150 days already served. She did not receive credit for the last eight years she spent on house arrest.
