BUHARI CANNOT FINISH WHAT HE IS DOING IN FOUR YEARS- BISI AKANDE | Mr Olumide's Blog

No party can stand against APC in 2019

Former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, has condemned the growing rate of corruption in the country, insisting that it is a difficult battle that President Muhammadu Buhari would not be able to win in the four years of his administration.

The former protem Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also berated the stupendous earnings by the Nigerian lawmakers who, he said, are presiding over a majority of the world's poorest people.

In this interview with CLEMENT ADEYI in OSOGBO, the APC stalwart also spoke on other national issues.

Is it not a serious paradox that people in leadership positions are stupendously rich but are presiding over a majority of the world's poorest people?

Yes. Nigeria's lawmakers who are not necessarily the brightest nor the best are being reported to be among the best paid, if not the highest paid in the world. A lawmaker's average annual salary is said to be $118,000 which is equivalent to 63 times the country's per capita income in 2013. So, we have the world's highest paid lawmakers to preside over a majority of the world's poorest people. The paradox, therefore, is that as our country gets richer, only a few people benefit from the increasing national wealth, while majority continue to suffer from poverty, penury and deprivation.

Don't you think this would soon begin to affect aspiration and passion for true and gainful education since proper education is seemingly no longer the yardstick for employment opportunities and promotion?

That is why those who are currently aspiring to be truly and gainfully educated are becoming fewer and are gradually being singled out, despised and persecuted like endangered species among the cants and the mediocre. Some of our good children are awarded merits at home and abroad. Yet, they are being spited, degraded and ostracized by their peers who are brought up and protected by the culture of automatic promotions, tribal nepotism and cult gangsterism. There was a notable educationist that lived in Iwo in Osun State. His name is the late Benjamin Adisa Akinola.  He was honoured recently by The Wings Schools, one of the biggest group of schools in Iwo land. He was given Distinguished Role Model award because he distinguished himself by striving to earn a gainful education which later helped him to add value to the youths of his generation when he emerged the first headmaster of a public school in Iwo land in those days. He left his footprints in the sand of time in the educational development of the state.

But these days, everybody scrambles for mercenary education where both the teachers and the pupils believe in selfishly seeking money without work. We have teachers who work without retraining and  swindle the pupils in a culture of cheating and examination malpractices at which the unwary parents jubilate. A mercenary education is an education for mere certificate which produces unemployable graduates that Nigerians euphemistically call graduate unemployment. Most of the graduates of nowadays are amply certificated but are truly unemployable.

What is your assessment of the APC in relation to its performance under Buhari's administration?

My ideas will always be in conformity with the policies and ideas that are contained in the manifestoes and the constitution of the country. I have high regard for the party because it is a great party. But it doesn't mean that everything that the party says or wants is possible to be accomplished by the government in power at a go. But it is important that those in power must not forget that they are there on behalf of the common people.

Why do you think that the 1999 constitution is responsible for the problems of this country?

There are many pitfalls in the constitution. There are many aspects in this constitution that are never working. The constitution we need is a constitution that will take the Nigerian people out of poverty. The constitution we need is a constitution that can move Nigeria forward; a constitution that can return the country to the path of greatness. A constitution that can move Nigeria forward is the one that can recognise the culture of the people in relation to their occupation. The background of the economic life of every community is such that recongises its culture and which must be respected by the constitution for it to survive. But when you concentrate all powers in Abuja, and you expect it to supervise all works in Nigeria, the country can never move forward. For instance, Osun State is not connected to any other place in Nigeria. Go towards  Kwara, no road. Go towards Ogun, no road. Go towards  Ekiti, no road. Go towards Lagos no road. The one they are doing in Lagos has no proper management. Until power is divulged from the centre and broken into the federating units, the country can never move forward.

The Federal Government told us recently that the country would move out of the current recession in a matter of weeks. But up till now, we are in the net, with poverty and hardship still the order of the day. What is your take on this?

Economic recession is a very technical subject. I am not an economist. When you talk about recession, it is multidimensional. When those in authorities say so, they know what they are talking about.   They know things that I don't know. So, I don't know when we will come out of the recession.

Do you think Buhari is equal to the task in fighting and overcoming the corruption war?

Corruption became endemic in Nigeria because the military introduced it. When they captured the country for 39 years,  the only legacy they left behind was corruption. So, to come out of corruption, we have to wait and must work towards it. We must start from the grassroots. For instance, there are people who think they must bribe somebody before they or their children can pass exams. Until we do away with corruption from the grassroots, we can't remove it from the top.

What is your assessment of Buhari's fight against corruption?

It is a difficult job. He is not the one who put it upon himself. It was my party (APC) that said, if you win the election, we must confront corruption. Corruption kills. Corruption is a wicked and mindless platform put in place to destroy people. Buhari is about the only president that has the charisma to solve Nigeria's problems. That is why we need to pray for him to be healthy and return to the country safely. No one can win total war against corruption. If corruption has been with us for 39 years, you don't expect any president to win total war against it within four years. Four years are not enough.

If Buhari is not able to win total war against corruption, take Nigeria out of corruption and solve other socio-political, religious and economic problems, do you think APC can come back in 2019?

There is no other party that will win. We (APC) are the only party on ground in this country. PDP is in trouble.

Do you think the rumour making the rounds that some soldiers are hobnobbing with some Nigerian politicians to stage a coup is true?

I think the military are liars. If it is true, the soldiers that are allegedly holding meetings with politicians to stage a coup ought to have been arrested and handed over to the police. Maybe, they are the ones planning to stage a coup. But I don't believe it.

MY WIFE OF 20 YEARS HAS BEEN BEATING ME, MAN TELLS COURT | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 27 May 2017 12:57 AM PDT

An Ibadan Customary Court sitting in Mapo on Friday, May 26, has dissolved a marriage of 20 years over domestic violence.

NAN reports that the cup got filled up when Kudirat Adekola stabbed her husband, Abideen, with a broken bottle.

The President of the Court, Mr Ademola Odunade, said he dissolved the marriage between Abideen and Kudirat Adekola "in the interest of peace and order''.

Odunade said that it was inconceivable that a wife could be so bad to the extent of stabbing her husband with a broken bottle.

"The custody of four out of the five children is hereby awarded to Abideen, while Kudirat is allowed to go with the last, who is still a minor. Abideen shall, however, pay a monthly feeding allowance of N5,000 for the upkeep of the last child," said Odunade.

Narrating his ordeal, Abideen, a civil servant, said that his wife enjoys beating him up.

"I have chosen to part ways with Kudirat because she always threatens my life with dangerous weapons. Whenever there is any dispute between us, Kudirat steps forward with rounds of dirty slaps on my face and if she is not satisfied, she resorts into blows and kicks.

"A few days ago, Kudirat extended her devilish threat to me when she broke a bottle and tore my flesh to the angry astonishment of everyone. At that stage, I ran to the police for safety and to report.

"Kudirat is such a troublesome and inhuman wife who is never satisfied with any situation. She, however, packed out the following day she stabbed me," said Abideen.

Kudirat did not deny the allegations. She said:

"It is true that I stabbed Abideen, but it was in retaliation to the earlier mark he gave me. He is such an irresponsible husband and his mother is the major cause of our matrimonial problems.

"Abideen keeps saying that Ajimobi (Oyo state governor) has not paid him, so he does not provide food or education for the children.

"Since we got married, we've been living in their family house with his parents and other relatives in spite of my complaints. Even the house is now dilapidated," she said.

3 Nigerians jailed 235 Years for Internet Dating Scam in US | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 27 May 2017 12:12 AM PDT

Three Nigerian scammers who befriended their victims on dating sites have been slammed huge prison sentences by a Mississippi court after making millions of dollars from their fraud.

Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan, 30, was sentenced to 95 years in prison; Rasaq Aderoju Raheem, 31, was given 115 years and Femi Alexander Mewase, 45, got 25 years behind bars, according to a report by Info Security Magazine.
A court in the Southern District of Mississippi had in February found them all guilty of crimes including mail fraud, wire fraud, identity theft, credit card fraud and theft of government property. Ayelotan and Raheem were also found guilty of conspiracies to commit bank fraud and money laundering.

Dating back to at least 2001, the scammers were involved in multiple internet fraud schemes, resulting in losses in the tens of millions, according to the Department of Justice.

It claimed that they would befriend women on dating sites, establish a romantic relationship and then either get them to send money or have them participate in fraud schemes, usually without the victim's knowledge.

The unsuspecting women would sometimes be required to cash counterfeit checks and money orders; use stolen credit card details to purchase goods; and use stolen personal information to take over victims' bank accounts.

They were also apparently used to launder money via Western Union and MoneyGram, and re-package and re-ship goods obtained fraudulently.

A whopping 21 defendants have already been charged in this ongoing case, 12 of whom have pleaded guilty to charges involving conspiracy and 11 of whom have been sentenced.

The three Nigerians were among the six extradited from South Africa by US Department of Justice in 2015 to face charges of running a series of scams against gullible Americans over the past 16 years.

Fourteen others resident in the US were also arrested to face trial in Gulfport, Mississippi on nine federal charges, including conspiracy to commit identity theft, wire fraud, bank fraud, theft of US government funds, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

The indictment states that since 2001 the accused, were part of a string of scams against Americans, facilitated by internet communications. These include the longstanding 419 scheme, whereby a massive windfall is promised once a small number of payments have been provided, but the DoJ claims it went much further than that.

The team was also accused of running romance stings to bilk the lonely of funds, shipping fraud, running fake work-from-home businesses, check fraud, and plain-old hijacking of other people's bank accounts and credit cards to divert funds.

The desperation to make money without legitimate work, just to claim to be big boys. Sigh!

My Ex-Girlfriend Is Pregnant For Me But I Don’t Love Her | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 27 May 2017 12:12 AM PDT

A young man Freddy is in a fix;

I don fumble mehn. Some lady came over to my place to sleep over. As usual things went down that I couldn't help but "release" in her. [Later] I bought her contraceptive pills to use but it turns out that she didn't use them. Now she called me to tell me that she hasn't seen her period for days now and we did it first Friday of this month.

I am so confused because I have a new girl I want to marry and i am truly in love with this girl I want to make her my wife. I'm worried because of a stupid choice I made by sleeping with an ex without a protection.

Now she wants to keep the baby which I am cool with. My concern is that her people will want me to marry her. I cant marry a woman that I am not in love with.

What do i do? What do i do? I don't want to marry because of circumstance.

This lady intentionally forced herself on me to sleep with her and I was drunk…when this happened. I don't genuinely love this girl. She is someone I am not even proud to show the world. The girl I want to marry comes from an affluent background just like I do.

How do I handle this?

Not all women are the same.. just as not all men are dogs- Ali Baba writes | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 May 2017 11:27 PM PDT

Comedian, actor and motivational speaker, Ali Baba has done an analysis of different kinds of women and why men shouldn't classify them all as the same.He wrote

Not all women are the same… just as not all men are dogs. There are some who would not mind their man acting in a movie and kissing another woman. Some are not even bothered if the person you dated last was her cousin… while some will raise hell if you as much as had asked her friend out in 1998 and she said no, and you came to still ask her out.
I know of a lady that does not permit her current bobos taking pictures with an ex… and then you have others who don't mind if you work as a close business partner in an organization with an ex. Some do not mind being a second wife or even third… while some can not share a boyfriend.

I know babes who can not date a married man, yet some can even have kids for married men. There are some babes that have kids and have taken care of the children from birth to ages above 25yrs they no send the man. There are others, even if they can afford it, the man must pay for everything that child needs. There are some ladies you will tell, "come let's go to Dubai for a week, all expenses paid"… and they will start drooling. Some others will feel insulted.

I have seen a wife say, if the women outside like, let 10 or more of them have children for you outside, I am not going anywhere. Then you find one lady that walks away from a marriage because she read a romantic text message on your phone from a babe. Some women are ok if a man touched them 8 months ago. While a family meeting will be called if it's 2 weeks since the last time. You will not hear some women tell another person that she dated and was dumped by any man talk less of a pastor… while another will sing like a bird.

Some will be too ashamed to be linked with a scandal, while Na some go start the SCANDAL sef then begin to find who go FIX HER back when the yawa gas. So men who say all women are the same don't know anything. It depends on the person the woman is. Some have grown thick skins, others matured along the way, some are a consequence of previous relationships, others just know where their shoe pinches and would leave it there, some don't just care. Many have been there done that and nothing can shock them again. So different strokes different strokes.

Power-drunk cop hangs, beats and arrests bakery worker for being stubborn | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 May 2017 11:27 PM PDT

A bakery worker, 23-year-old Sherifat Saka, was tired on the night of May 13, 2017 as she retired to bed in the room she shared with eight others on Ifelodun Street, Amukoko area of Lagos. It was an accommodation she shared with other workers of the bakery.

But there was noise as a result of the discussion between two of her roommates when an older worker, angrily stormed out to make a call.

The woman referred to by other workers as Iya Mayowa, allegedly picked up her phone and placed a call to one of her acquaintances at the Pako Police Division, Amukoko, Omotosho Abiodun, a sergeant.

Moments later, Abiodun in company with a colleague stormed the house at about 2am.

She said, "He came and said we were under arrest. He told three of us that we were going to the station. I noticed that the two others were already heading for an unmarked SUV they brought there.
"But I told them I could not follow them. Apart from my underwear, I was tying just a wrapper. But they did not care. They did not wear uniform and did not show us any identity card apart from the fact that they brought an unmarked vehicle there.
"How could I follow people like that in the dead of the night?I told them that if indeed they were from the police station at Amukoko, I would walk there because it was a short walking distance.
"That was when the man started to beat me. They forced me in the vehicle, I was afraid and refused to enter. They stripped me in the process."
According to her, as soon as they got to the police station, another round of beating started.
"They hanged and beat me till I fainted. When I did, they took me outside and poured water on me. Later, the man brought some clothes for me to wear because I was naked," Saka said.

She said three more of her colleagues were later arrested for breach of peace.

According to her, when her bosses at work later came to the station to plead, the divisional crime officer of the station prevailed on Abiodun to release them all.The policeman did not release them until they paid N33,000.

However, things took a different turn when a human rights group, Movement for Islamic Rights and Justice got involved in the case.

The National Director of Operations of the group, Mr. Shakirulai Abdullahi, said he had tangled with Abiodun in the past as a result of manhandling of members of the public.

Few days later, he rearrested Saka for being too stubborn and also for consulting a human rights organisation.

"Despite our pleadings and even the appeal of the divisional police officer of the station, he insisted on charging her to court for assaulting him," Abdullahi said.

That day, Abiodun dragged Saka before an Agbomalu Magistrate's Court, Agbomalu, Apapa on two counts of assault and breach of peace.

The charge accused her of conducting herself "in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by cutting Sylva Chain and tearing off the shirt of one Sergeant Omotosho Abiodun to resist lawful arrest.

"That you on the same date and time did unlawfully assault one Sergeant Omotosho Abiodun by giving him fist blow on his left eye and causing him bodily pain."

Saka spent five days in prison before she could perfect her bail condition.

She is now appealing to police authorities to call Abiodun to order, alleging that he had vowed to send her to prison.

When Saturday PUNCH contacted Abiodun, he confirmed that he was called by Iya Mayowa as a result of the noise of the workers.

He said, "It is not true that we were not wearing uniforms when we got there. At least my subordinate who followed me there was in full uniform. We told her to enter the vehicle and she was asking why he had to enter the vehicle. She was asking me what she did wrong.
"I asked her if she did not recognise us as policemen and she said 'So what? Should I now run away because of that?' I was surprised by her attitude and I instructed that she should be put in the vehicle, that was when she started fighting me. She hit me in the eye and I was shocked. Even when we put her in the vehicle, she was still hitting me with her feet and hand.
"When we got to the station, nobody beat her, I only said she should be handcuffed while her statement be taken.

"I insisted I would press charges against her because I did not want the man he brought to intervene in the case to use it against me when they were pleading that I should release her. I have had an encounter with the man before when he caused trouble because of a case I was involved in."

Abiodun denied collecting any money as bail saying

"I am not even the investigating police officer in charge of her case so I know nothing about any money paid for bail."

But Saka's boss, Mr. Mumini Shittu, who paid the money insisted that Abiodun was lying.

"N11,000 of the money was for the bail of Sherifat (Saka) while the remaining N22,000 was for the bail of the remaining four." he said

Customs seize smuggled Rice, Vegetable Oil worth N17m | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 May 2017 11:12 PM PDT

The anti-smuggling drive of the Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service got a boost in the last one week, as a total of 853 50-kilogramme bags of imported rice and 395 25-litre jerry cans of vegetable oil were intercepted and seized.

The duty paid value of the smuggled rice was put at N14.6 million while that of the vegetable oil was N3.1 million.

This was made known by the Customs Area Controller, Emmanuel Udo-Aka, on Wednesday, at the command's headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking further, Udo-Aka, who resumed at the area command barely a month ago, said that a DAF truck loaded with some of the smuggled bags of rice was intercepted along Ife-Ibadan highway on May 15.

"Also, on May 20, two Mazda buses conveying smuggled foreign rice were also impounded along Oko-Ifon Road, Osun State.

"Just this morning (Wednesday, May 24), another four Mazda buses carrying bags of smuggled rice as well as 25-litre jerry cans of vegetable oil were intercepted along Iseyin-Oyo Road by our patrol team. However, no suspect was arrested, as the drivers and conductors abandoned their vehicles and took to their heels," the Area Comptroller added.

He said that the Customs officials employed restraint and avoided chasing the smugglers into the midst of innocent people to avoid casualties.

"The smugglers took advantage of the recent mass deployment of officers and men in the Customs to indulge in their unwholesome activities, with the belief that we will be caught off-guard, but we were still able to put some checks and balances.

"We will continue to reiterate our stand of zero tolerance for revenue leakage and reduction of smuggling to the barest minimum, particularly by bringing saboteurs to book to face the long arm of the law," he assured.

Release Ifeanyi Ubah Or Face Our Wrath; IPOB dares DSS | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 May 2017 10:42 PM PDT

The Indigenous People of Biafra has condemned the continued detention of the Chairman and CEO of Capital Oil and Gas, Ifeanyi Ubah, saying should anything happen to him those keeping him in detention should be prepared to face the wrath of the group.

IPOB said, "We want the DSS to know that an attack on Ifeanyi Ubah is an attack on Biafra; the DSS should know that we are watching on this matter and must continue following it until it gets to its logical conclusion".

The claimed that the arrest of Ubah was part of the plots to frustrate Igbo businessmen.

In a press statement issued by IPOB's media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, the group claimed its intelligence unit had uncovered a grand plot to kill businesses in Igboland.

It said such actions were indicative that the people of the area were no longer needed in Nigeria.

The group wondered why a court of competent jurisdiction would order the release of Ubah yet the Department of State Services would continue to hold him.

The statement read in part, "We have been informed by IPOB intelligence unit that this Ifeanyi Uba arrest by the DSS was the perfection of hard economic policies against our people and strangulation of Igbo businessmen in Nigeria.

"The ground plan to stop every business controlling by our people in Nigeria is eating deep in Nigeria economy because our people are the major businessmen in Nigeria today.

"Arresting Dr. Ifeanyi Uba because of his legitimate business proves to all and sundry that we are no more needed in the contraption called Nigeria.

"In line with this, we warn that Ifeanyi Uba should be released before it is too late or they will see the power of IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu all over the world; we cannot afford to watch them continue to humiliate and intimate him for no just cause."

10 Things Every Married Man Should Know How To Do | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 May 2017 10:12 PM PDT

by Bisi Adewale
There are many things a Man should know how to do before he gets married, let me mention some of them here:

1) NURTURE A PREGNANT WOMAN HOW TO DO BEFORE MARRIAGE
You expect your wife to become pregnant after the wedding? But how much do you know about pregnancy and pregnant women apart from the fact that their tummy is usually big and protruding. Every man going to the altar should learn how to care for pregnant women and have better Knowledge of pregnancy.

2) KNOW HOW TO COOK
A good Man should know how to cook basic food at home. Don't always wait for your wife if you are at home before her, learn to do something in the kitchen.

3) DO A LULLABY:

Playing with a newborn baby will require you singing and dancing for the newborn, have you learnt this?
4) LOVE A WOMAN THE WAY SHE WANTS TO BE LOVED: Marriage needs more than romantic love, it needs authentic love. You need to learn how to be an authentic lover and love your wife the way she wants to be loved.

5) KNOW HOW TO FORGIVE:

Your wife will hurt you; you will hurt her too no matter how much you love each other. So, learn the attitude of forgiveness before you go into marriage.

WHY ZUMA ROCK CAUGHT FIRE – EXPERTS | Mr Olumide's Blog

Why Zuma Rock caught fire – Expert

This week, one of the most trending news was of one of Nigeria's famous landmarks – Zuma Rock -'catching fire.'

All sorts of reasons have been given for the 'strange' incident, with the most popular being voodoo. In a bid to provide verifiable explanation for the incidence, Daily Trust spoke to an expert who gave a scientific perspective on the matter.

Geologist and lecturer at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Dr. Kistso Ngargbu, said if it wasn't grasses on the rock that caught fire but rather the rock itself that was on fire, then it would be a volcanic phenomenon.

Dormant volcanoes, Ngargbu said, exist on the plateau, then at the border between Nigeria and Cameroun on Mount Cameroun and a few within the interior like Zuma and Wase rocks.

What provoked some of the concerns was that the fire came after some rainfall, which in people's view was odd.

But even though the incident took place after rainfall, Ngargbu, a member of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) said, "If it is after rainfall and a particular boulder or broken pieces of the rock got saturated with water, that's the contact between heat and the main rock body.

"In the event that it had to slide because water now serves as a lubricating surface, friction is created. We should remember that our forefathers used to make fire from rocks glided against each other. That is what could have happened. Rain water got to the surface, lubricated the boulder and then generated a sliding probably based on a sloppy surface, and in the event of sliding down the fire came up.

While stating that it's not surprising the incidence has provoked talk about voodoo, he said, "As a scientist, I should offer a scientific possibility."

On the possibility of a reoccurrence, he said, "Yes. Dormant volcanoes repeat themselves over cycles of several hundreds of years. If it is attributable to rock slide, then with rain and fragmented pieces getting lubricated where they make contact with the main rock body, we'll continue to see such fireworks from the rock."

Such incidences usually don't happen without threats to habitats around. Ngargbu, leader of the Medical Geologists Specialist Group in Nigeria, said "Volcanic ash and dust are often rich in mercury. Mercury is carcinogenic (causes cancer). Volcanic dust can cause cancer of the lungs, bronchial or respiratory tract diseases and eye infection.

Zuma rock is located in Niger State, but is often associated with Abuja, due to its proximity to the Federal Capital.

The Federal Government had seized Malabu Oil Block from four oil giants pending the conclusion of investigation and trial of those implicated in the $1.09billion deal.

The oil firms are Shell Nigeria Ultra Deep Limited, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO), Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited, Malabu Oil and Gas Limited.

On December 20, 201, the EFCC filed nine charges bordering on alleged mismanagement of $1,616,690,656.78 Malabu Oil cash against Adoke( SAN), a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Chief Dan Etete and seven others.

"A declaration that the plaintiff cannot be held personally liable for carrying out the lawful directives/approvals of the president while he served as a Minister of the Government of the Federation.

WHY OSINBAJO VISITED GARKI MARKET – AIDE EXPLAINS | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 26 May 2017 09:12 PM PDT

By Omololu Ogunmade in Abuja

As part of activities marking the two years anniversary of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday visited Garki Model Market, Abuja to feel the pulse of Nigerians.

Osinbajo who arrived the market at about 3:10 p.m, was accompanied by the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Aisha Abubakar and some senior presidential aides.

In an unusual manner, the acting president spent meaningful time discussing and interacting with traders in the market who maximised the opportunity to pour out their complaints, especially about high cost of market stalls and prices of food items such as fish, onions and rice in the primary market.

Specifically, Osinbajo, whose unexpected arrival stunned the traders, interacted with individuals who called for government attention on high cost of market stalls which they put at N250,000 per annum.

Some who complained of inadequate markets stalls, also reported to the acting president, inability of management of the market to complete and make available the stalls they had paid for over a long time.

Osinbajo therefore promised to engage the management and also encouraged both the traders and Nigerians in general to go into farming. "The more we farm, the more the costs of products will come down," he said.

Speaking to journalists later on the essence of the visit, Osinbajo's media aide, Laolu Akande, said in commemoration of the second year anniversary of the administration, the acting president wanted to know the feelings of the people, have one on one interaction with them and simultaneously assure them of government commitment to their wellbeing.

"He wanted to feel the pulse of Nigerians and hear directly from the people and have one on one with them and assure them that the administration was committed to improve the economy and ensure life gets better for them," he said.

The visit was also said to have been designed to appeal to traders to make prices of commodities affordable to buyers as Moslems begin Ramadan fast.

Earlier in his office in the Presidential Villa, Osinbajo had met with school children and gave them gifts in commemoration of this year's Children's Day celebration.
