| COURT SENTENCES FIVE TO DEATH FOR KILLING A “WITCH” | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 May 2017 03:42 AM PDT  Plateau State High Court 7 has sentenced five persons to death by hanging for killing an old woman tagged a witch. The convicts had accused the deceased of being behind some of the mysterious happenings at Kwogu village in Riyom local government area. The victim Mama Lyop Badung was beaten to death, while the girl who was said to have died of witchcraft was Rachael Yohann. The accused persons were sentenced on two count charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. The convicted persons are Yohanna Davou, John Davou, Pam Davou, Pam Dalyop and one other. Justice Christine Dabup on Tuesday said the witnesses called to testify in the case did not contradict themselves in their evidence and that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, while the police did not fail in their responsibility. Having listened to the counsels of all the parties, with their final written addresses adopted, Justice Christine Dabup, sentenced the accused persons to death by hanging without any option. After the judgment, the prosecuting counsel agreed that it was barbaric to kill a human being on accusation of witchcraft. Anybody suspected to be a witch should not be manhandled or killed until the law takes its full course", he said.

He said this in reaction to how the Nigerian economy has been managed by successive governments. Utomi lamented that there was too much of politics in Nigeria, adding that the country needed to get rid of more politicians and get more statesmen, people who can think outside party politics. "The central thing driving us should be Nigeria, the future, the children, productivity and growth. These are realities and should happen, but they are not happening. "What happened in Nigeria is that the culture of the class of 1966 was primarily anti-intellectual. Maybe, they did not think through it as a policy, but they forced Nigeria's brightest minds to live the town", the professor of political economy and management expert told Guardian. Buhari is part of the class of 1966. Is Obasanjo still around? Yes. What about TY Danjuma, Ibrahim Babangida? They are still around? Nigeria is still in their hands, and the worst part is that they have created cronies. "What is required is a full understanding of what went wrong with Nigeria so that we can begin to correct it. Ignorance was a critical part of the problem. That is why we have the duty to educate. "The mistakes with the savings of excess crude earnings alone are so glaring that I think people everywhere should understand our problem. But we just chose not to understand that more than anything, we should educate the Nigerian people about why leaderships is an intellectual activity. We need to think This class also managed to demonize thinking so much that when you are thoughtful in Nigeria, people will say it is theory. Nigerians should have gone beyond this to believe that thinking is something that doesn't work. "Everywhere in the world, when leaders gather, they are looking for thinkers to be around them. But in Nigeria, we chase them away. As in popular culture, people in the street say, grammar. That is one of the cultural damages", he said.

It said the report card of the present administration could not be prepared when it was just midway into its four-year term. Adesina was joined at the briefing by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, and SSA to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande. The presidential spokesman said it would be wrong for anybody to assess the government based on its first two years in office and return a verdict that it had succeeded or failed. He said, "You cannot write the report card of this administration when it is just hitting the halfway mark; that will not be fair. The term is four years and the promises are going to be stretched over that four-year period. "Like the Minister of Sports said recently, the APC did not promise to solve all the country's problems in one year or two years. The mandate the party has is for four years and it is pacing itself as it goes along and I am sure that by the end of those four years, we will have a lot more to record. "It is not by a sudden flight; it will not come by a snap of a finger; but will the promises be fulfilled? Yes, I believe they will be fulfilled. This administration will take Nigeria far beyond how it met it. "So, if anybody says the APC has failed, just tell them it is too early in the day because it is a four year-term and this is just two years. You don't reach definitive conclusions in two years." Adesina also described the recent warning given to soldiers by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on alleged romance with politicians, as a routine warning. He advised Nigerians not to stretch the warning beyond the information provided by the Army chief. Shehu, on his part, said it was wrong for anybody to hold the belief that power supply had deteriorated under the present administration. He said when Buhari came on board in 2015, power generation was 3,324MW, adding that it increased to 4,357MW as of August, 2015, barely three months after. Shehu stated that the figure rose to 5,077MW in 2016, which he said was the highest power generated in the country. Shehu also said the human rights records of the present administration were impeccable. | Police Commission Announces Mass Promotion of Officers | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 May 2017 03:12 AM PDT  Chairman of Police Service Police Commission (PSC) and retired Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro, has disclosed that in three months, there would be mass promotion of senior police officers who have been stagnated on one rank. Okiro said his Commission and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, "are working out a structure in the police to create vacancies for officers who are due for promotion but have not be promoted due to lack of vacancies for them. "I feel for them, because it is not because they have bad records but because there are no vacancies. You cannot promote an officer to a higher rank and there is no office for his or her new rank". He noted that many Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were due for promotion to the next rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). Okiro lamented that many of the officers have spent eight to ten years on one rank, admitting that the situation can affect their performance.

Just don't allow greed control you! According to those who know him, he is Mr. Stainless, The CEO, but Olaogun Tunde is a complete fraud. Everything about him is fraud. 34yrs old Olaogun, a microbiologist, a dismissed civil servant, was two weeks ago arrested by the officials of Rapid Response Squad. How did it all happen? The officers acted on phone report to RRS Control Room of a fraud by one Mr Kelvin Oyenuga over the supply of 25 units of HP laptop to the Lagos State Ministry of Works, Alausa, through Olaogun Tunde. Olaogun, through connections was linked up with Oyenuga for the supply of 25 laptops amounting to N4, 625,000:00. In making a N2.5m payment before delivery, Olaogun initiated a fake online transfer from a Keystone Bank to Oyenuga's GTB account. He immediately showed a fake debit alert on his phone to Oyenuga. On delivery, the same day, he issued another dud cheque of N2.125m. For more than two months, Olaogun employed one trick or the other to buy time for himself while he offered to a Lagos Island computer dealer, the 25 laptops he bought from Oyenuga at N150,000:00 each, a N35,000:00 short of the initial buying price. To settle the case Oyenuga, Olaogun had requested RRS officers follow him to Lagos Island to retrieve the 25 laptops from the buyer. According to him, "I had an understanding with him. We retrieve the laptops. Once my LPO is ready, I would pay off the buyer". By the second day of investigation into the case, three fresh cases of fraud initiated by Olaogun Tunde had surfaced. The complaints were microfinance banks, who the suspect had used a Fake Bank Statements to secure loans amounting to N3.7m. Coincidentally, a day later, two ex-girlfriends of Olaogun were at RRS's headquarters. They alleged that the suspect took N750,000:00 in October, 2016 and N500,000:00 in April 2017 from them to help them get a Toyota Matrix and a Nigerian used car. And, as typical of him, Olaogun had regaled them with endless stories – no car, no money. His latest girlfriend whose red Toyota Corolla he borrowed for his fraudulent transactions, Dunni Anifowoshe, 29, disclosed that the suspect was dismissed from the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, Alausa, in 2015. Olaogun, while explaining the circumstance said he used the name of his Ministry to facilitate the procurement of vehicles at Affordable Cars without the knowledge of the State Government. When he couldn't pay for the cars, it became a crisis that cost him his job. Before Olaogun Tunde case was transferred to the State CID, Panti, Yaba, two other microfinance banks had filed in fresh petition of N1.5 million and N4 million respectively against him.  Fraud, crime, deceit only bring "enjoyment" for a short while but the end is always bad.

Kim, who is half Austrian and half German, decided to sell her body through the agency Cinderella Escorts to fund her studies, a flat and a car. Bidding for the 5ft 8in student starts at 100,000 Euro, of which 20 percent will go to the agency, according to local media.
 The student was inspired by Aleexandra Khefren, a 18-year-old Romanian model who sold her virginity for (2.3 million Euro) to an unnamed businessman from Hong Kong. The Cinderella Escorts website claims her virginity is proven with a doctor's certificate and a potential buyer can also do their own tests to 'inspect' the girl. | Pregnant Woman Beats Her Maid To Death In Lagos | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 May 2017 02:42 AM PDT  As you read this, a beautician, identified as Oby, has been arrested by the Lagos Police Command for allegedly beating her maid, identified as Miracle, to death on Lateef Aregbe Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, in the Isolo area of Lagos. It was learnt that the mother of two had descended on the 8-year-old girl on Saturday and beaten her till she collapsed and gave up the ghost. Oby was allegedly plotting with some persons to dispose of the corpse when some neighbours raised the alarm and reported the case to the police. The woman was subsequently detained at the Isolo Police Division. A resident of the area, who did not want to be identified, said the suspect had been beating Miracle mercilessly for months. He told The Punch that anytime Oby, who hailed from Anambra, was confronted by neighbours, she would shun and insult them. He said, "She is a beautician and has two children and she is heavily pregnant with her third child. Her husband was deported from Libya before he travelled again to Angola, where he is now based. "She brought the victim and another girl by name Chinacherem, from their village in Anambra State some years ago. They were formerly going to school before she stopped them. "However, anytime I visit their house, she was always beating this particular girl. Whenever people intervened, she would tell them to go away because she brought the girl from the village and it was none of their business. "She usually maltreated the two girls and would wake them up as early as 4.30am to start working. She beat them for the least provocation. "Early Saturday, she descended on Miracle again and beat her till she gave up. She called some people to help her in disposing of her corpse. They were about taking the body out when people challenged them. The people she brought quickly ran away." The police from the Isolo division were said to have arrested the suspect. The case was also reported to officials of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender. An official of the agency, who did not want to be identified, said 12-year-old Chinacherem had been taken away from the community by some family members who didn't want her to testify against the suspect. She said, "We gathered that Oby told Chinacherem that when she is queried, she should tell people that she (Chinacherem) and the victim fought and she collapsed and died. After the girl told the crowd that, she quickly added that it was what her madam asked her to say. "But the woman has confessed to the police that she killed the girl. When we went to the station, we were prevented from talking to her, but they confirmed it was a case of homicide. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba." The Director of OPD, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, called for an end to child abuse in Lagos, urging residents to quickly report such cases before it was too late. She said the agency would follow the case to ensure justice was served. She said, "The girl's life could have been saved if people raised the alarm early enough and that is why we always say if you see something, say something. There is no room for child abuse in Lagos State and we will ensure due diligence is done in this matter." The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident, adding that the victim's corpse had been deposited in the Isolo General Hospital for autopsy. He said, "The suspect, Obiageli, beat her housemaid, Miracle Edegwu, to death. She was arrested and transferred to the SCIID. The matter is under investigation."

He was killed over the weekend. This followed a successful raid operation carried out in Sime Community in Tai Local Government Area by troops of the 29 Battalion deployed at Ebubu Eleme Local Government Area and the Anti-Robbery Team of 6 Division Nigerian Army deployed along Port Harcourt/Akwa Ibom Road. The troop also overpowered and arrested another member of the cult, ThankGod Ndunaka, who has been handed over to the police, while several other members escaped during the operation.  According to a statement issued by Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, operation was conducted by the army troop, acting on a tip-off.

| APC TAKES OVER PDP OFFICE IN ENUGU | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 24 May 2017 01:57 AM PDT The All Progressives Congress has practically taken over the office of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State. Our correspondent observed on Tuesday that a building on Chime Lane, a street in the GRA part of the Enugu metropolis, which had served as the secretariat of the PDP in Enugu State for several years, is now the office of the Enugu State chapter of the APC. Flags, posters, banners, billboards and other paraphernalia of the PDP, which hitherto adorned the duplex, had been replaced with an APC signboard that proclaimed 'All Progressives Congress, Change Has Come.' Findings by our correspondent revealed that the development followed the recent defection of a former Enugu State governor, Sullivan Chime, from the PDP to the APC. Chime, who served as the governor of Enugu State on the platform of the PDP from 2007 to 2015, recently joined the APC after pronouncing the PDP 'dead and buried.' A PDP member in Enugu State, who pleaded anonymity, informed our correspondent that the concerned building actually belongs to Chime. According to him, when Chime became governor of Enugu State, he 'donated' the building to the PDP, to serve as the party's secretariat in the state. Having left the PDP, after completing two terms as governor, Chime withdrew the building from the party and gave it to the APC, his new political party. Shedding light on the development, the PDP source said, "Chime gave us (Enugu State PDP) the building when he became governor. We used the building as the Enugu State secretariat of the PDP all through the eight years that Chime served as governor of Enugu State. "Now that he is no longer the governor, and having also joined another political party, he has taken the building from us and given it to the APC. "He has the right to do what he did; we (PDP) already have a new secretariat, it is nothing to worry about," the source said. However, an APC member, who did not wish to be named, said the 'takeover' of the building would serve as a prelude to the party's "imminent conquest of the seat of power in Enugu State in the 2015 governorship election." "The APC has come to stay in Enugu and we are going to take over the state in 2019, there is no going back," the APC member added in a chat with our correspondent. Enugu State, home of the highest-ranking PDP member, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, is generally regarded as a 'PDP state.'

A California-based company named Travelmate Robotics which aim to ease of travelers, shoutout to all those busty ladies at the airport, God has answered your prayers, with this suitcase, traveling just got get better using the autonomous robotic technology. According to the company.. Travelmate moves by itself both horizontally and vertically, following three to five feet behind you by tracking your smartphone location. It matches your speed accurately, going as fast as 6.75 mph. The company says Travelmate works seamlessly in crowds and doesn't require any extra peripherals. As an "autonomous" suitcase and robot companion, Travelmate can sense obstacles ahead and take action to avoid them. The prototype suitcase uses an infrared sensor to detect potential obstacles, but the final product scheduled to ship in June of this year is expected to use a different sensor, perhaps a camera or radar. The suitcase is always nearby and you can turn on an alarm, just like with your car keys, if it ever gets too far away from you. In addition, the suitcase's battery can be used to charge your electronic devices through a USB port and a standard electrical outlet.
