French referee loses temper, kicks player before sending him off | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 15 Jan 2018 03:50 AM PST Referee Tony Chapron became the pantomime villain of Paris Saint-Germain's 1-0 win at Nantes on Sunday, after responding to an accidental collision with Diego Carlos by kicking the Brazilian and sending him off. In injury time and with PSG on the counter-attack, Chapron stepped across the backtracking Nantes centre-back Carlos and tumbled to the floor. The official stunned the stadium and those watching at home by kicking out at Carlos while still on the ground, in an incident reminiscent of David Beckham at the 1998 World Cup, before brandishing a second yellow card at the unfortunate player. "He told me that he had never wanted to kick the player and that he had felt himself pushed in the back," said Nantes president Waldemar Kita after talking to Chapron. Nantes midfielder Valentin Rongier had a good view of the incident and called for the referee to be given a lengthy ban. "He says he slipped, but I know he kicked him," Rongier told Canal+. "I know it's very difficult to referee but you have to question them from time to time… We do that, we get a 10-match ban." Former England striker Gary Lineker and ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas were among those to express their bemusement on Twitter. "Surely the good man will have apologised. It was spontaneous," wrote Casillas. "Yes, for me it's aggression and red! Three matches minimum!" AFP culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
UK politician Bolton dumps girlfriend over racist comments | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 15 Jan 2018 03:46 AM PST The leader of Britain's anti-European Union UKIP Party said he had split with his new girlfriend after a newspaper published derogatory comments she made about Prince Harry's fiancee Meghan Markle and black people. Henry Bolton, 54, who became the ailing UK Independence Party's fourth leader in a year when he was elected in September 2017, said he had ended his relationship with model Jo Marney after the "appalling" text messages she sent to a friend were published. Marney, 25, who began dating Bolton just after Christmas, had described U.S. actress Markle, whose father is white and mother is African-American, as a "dumb little commoner" and said "her seed with (sic) taint our royal family", according to the texts printed in the Mail on Sunday newspaper. Marney also described black people as ugly. "The romantic element of the relationship is over," Bolton told BBC radio, saying they had split up on Sunday night. Harry said Markle had been subjected to "outright sexism and racism" on social media when he revealed they were first dating in 2016 and that there had also been racial undertones in newspaper comment pieces. The couple announced in November that they were engaged and will marry in May. Marney was suspended from UKIP after the texts became public on Sunday and senior party figures called for Bolton, a former army infantry officer who also served in the police, to step down himself. He said :"People have been able to use Jo in order to attack me.He said there had not been a "cold parting of the ways" but his job had to take priority. "She is utterly devastated. I'm not defending the comments she made; she's not defending the comments she made. Reuters culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Mother of Five Divorces Her Husband, Gets Married To Ghost Posted: 15 Jan 2018 02:34 AM PST Wonder, wonder. A woman fed up of being with humans says she has married a ghost The woman, who had five children with her human husband, said she was fed up with human failings and has opted to marry a ghost. It was her latest attempt at finding a perfect mate, she said. Her new husband was a Haitian pirate who told her he was black with jet black hair, and was executed for his crimes in the 1700s. Forty-five-year-old Amanda from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland, believes their pirate connection is what brought them together – first as friends, before she developed 'strong loving feelings' towards him. Amanda, a female Jack Sparrow impersonator, said: "We became really close; the more I learnt about him, the more I liked him. "One day, he said to me 'We can actually be together you know?' but I had never heard of an intimate relationship between a spirit and a human before. "We became really close, and, the more I learnt about him, the more I liked him. "I did some research and found out that it is a real thing and there are lots of people in spiritual relationships, but not many people like to talk about it." Jack, who never married during his life according to Amanda, is a powerful spirit who can turn stereos and lights on and off, and move things. "I told him I wasn't really cool with having casual s*x with a spirit and I wanted us to make a proper commitment to each other. "If I am going to be in a long-term relationship with somebody, I have the right to be married," she said. For their wedding, the couple ventured into international waters where their union would be legal, on a boat that allowed 12 of their closest friends and family on board for the ceremony. They used a medium to allow Jack to say 'I do', and used a skull and crossbones flag to represent him. Amanda claimed that s*x with a spirit is surprisingly similar to s*x with a human. She added: "It is well known that people often feel a spirit touch their hands, their face or their hair. "The only difference with having a s*xual relationship with a spirit is obviously that sense of touch goes a lot deeper. "You can literally feel the physical act of what the spirit is doing to you, and the spirit can feel it too." Source: Metro culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

I am not a racist – Trump | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 15 Jan 2018 02:00 AM PST United States President, Donald Trump, has denied that he is racist, after a row broke out over his alleged use of the word "shithole" to describe African nations. Mr Trump reportedly used the term last week during a bipartisan Oval Office meeting on immigration reform. He has now told journalists: "I am not a racist. I'm the least racist person you have ever interviewed." It is the first time the President has responded directly to the racism accusations, the BBC reports. He made the denial to White House press pool reporters at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach in Florida on Sunday night. The row broke out after lawmakers from both parties visited the President on Thursday to work on a proposal for a bipartisan immigration deal. In recent weeks the Trump administration has been withdrawing Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from a number of nationalities currently living in the country. Reports later emerged in U.S media that Mr. Trump had asked during the meeting: "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" Mr. Trump was said to have told them that instead of granting temporary residency to citizens of countries hit by natural disasters, war or epidemics, the U.S should be taking in migrants from countries like Norway. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Tension As Youths Attack Police Station, Destroy Cars, Free Suspects Posted: 15 Jan 2018 01:54 AM PST Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State were stunned on Sunday as some youths invaded the station and vandalised property. The Youths broke into the cell of the station, freed detained suspects and carted away some valuables, including television sets and seized motorcycles. According to The Punch, the assailants who were in a large number, stormed the station around 1pm in retaliation for the shooting of a youth. It was gathered that a team of policemen had raided a black spot in the Yakoyo area on Saturday, when they were confronted by some hoodlums. The team was said to have responded with gunshots during which the victim, Dada Omotoye, who was relaxing in front of his house, was hit by a bullet, and was rushed to a private hospital in the community. In retaliation, some angry youths were said to have mobilised to a checkpoint along the Alagbole under bridge, but were repelled by the operatives on duty. They allegedly regrouped in numbers and attacked the division around 1pm. When a correspondent visited the police station around 2pm on Sunday, there was still tension as armed men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad were seen patrolling the area. It was observed that glasses of the station's windows had been shattered, while its charge room was in a shambles. An electricity box at the entrance of the charge room was also destroyed. Windscreens and side glasses of four vehicles parked beside the division were vandalised. Two of the cars reportedly belonged to policemen at the station. Broken bottles were observed littering a section of the premises, while a television set was smashed by the station gate. The correspondent heard an armed policeman in mufti, telling a man that there were a few operatives on the ground when the hoodlums struck. He said, "We were caught unawares. It was only the S.O. (Station Officer), one or two policemen and me that were at the station when they (the hoodlums) came. They were about 200. They entered my office and removed my TV set. They went to other offices and stole TV sets. They carted away some seized motorcycles on the premises. Their intention was to burn the station, but we were able to disperse them." An FSARS operative was also heard lamenting that the hoodlums freed some suspects in the police custody, while some panic-stricken residents approached by our correspondent declined comments on the incident. The correspondent eavesdropped on a crowd discussing the attack in hushed tones. One of them said, "They did not find any stolen property on the boy. Why did they shoot him? Will his parents be happy to lose him? I don't blame the hoodlums for attacking the station. I am even happy that they freed people in the cell. Maybe some of them were arrested for offences they did not commit." The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the shooting of the resident and attack on the division, and said that the perpetrators of the attack would be tracked down and brought to justice. He said, "There is a black spot in that area, where hoodlums smoke Indian hemp and carry out all sorts of unlawful activities. There have been complaints from residents of the area. That was why the police went to raid the place. It was a raid, involving men from other divisions around the Ojodu Abiodun division, aimed at flushing out those hoodlums. "In the process, the hoodlums attacked the policemen, throwing bottles and attacking them with cutlasses. A bullet ricocheted and hit somebody while the policemen were firing to scare the hoodlums away. The man sustained a minor injury and was taken to a hospital. He is responding to treatment. He is not among the hoodlums. "Today (Sunday), the hoodlums moblised themselves and attacked the station. They damaged the station and stole some property. We have identified those behind that dastardly act and we will get them arrested. We will use them as a lesson to those who have the habit of attacking stations. It is an affront on the security agents and they will face the full wrath of the law. If any policeman errs, we have internal mechanism of dealing with them." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
How To Get Rich & Still Have Peace To Enjoy Your Riches Posted: 15 Jan 2018 12:04 AM PST Success was sweet to me. At the relatively young age of 40, I had worked long and hard, and I was enjoying the fruits of my honest labors. As a hard-driving Christian entrepreneur, I had managed to parlay my God-given business acumen, natural tenacity, and technological savvy into a bevy of business interests that generated hefty profits and a positive cash flow. I owned 7 apartment complexes (399 units), a car lot and a consulting company. All of them had been profitable business enterprises over the years. To all outward appearances, I was living the Dream, and I relished that superficial image of glamorous prosperity. But underneath my external veneer of entrepreneurial confidence and success, I was really a nervous wreck, plagued by spontaneous, unpredictable panic attacks... I was always working frantically just to keep everything going from week to week and month to month. My mind constantly ran numbers and deals. How much did I owe? How much did I have? When was the next deal coming or closing? I lived in constant fear that my financial house of cards was going to come crashing down any day. I woke up worrying about money, worried about it all day and went to bed worried about it. Periodically I took my family on vacations to places, like London, Paris, Cancun, the Virgin Islands and Disney 25 times in 5 years. I thought it would be a distraction, but I was so stressed I couldn't relax long enough to enjoy them with my wife and daughter. I was always busy on my cell phone or computer, talking, texting or emailing somebody about some business deal or emerging crisis back home. The moments of happiness I got from trips and materials things didn't fill the void that was growing bigger and bigger. I constantly felt the burden of managing my multiple businesses and dealing with the constant conflict I had produced. I was stressed, I was anxious, and I was becoming lethargic. I had become obsessed with making money, but my lack of consistent discipline as a business owner and manager was causing me problems and costing me money. And it was really wearing me down. Because of the stress that permeated my personality, I was living in constant conflict with everyone with whom I had to deal. I had a short temper and was easily angered. I also had developed a well-deserved reputation as a tough negotiator who drove a hard bargain. Because I could argue longer and talk louder, I usually won. But I didn't make many friends in the process. The hardest hit relationship was my marriage to a woman I dearly loved and adored. Our relationship wasn't where it needed to be because of all the stress I was bringing into our home. I wanted more from our marriage and she wanted more but the ways we were trying to achieve our goals weren't working. Neither of us was ever unfaithful, and we had never discussed divorce, but subconsciously I knew my precious bride wasn't getting what she needed. I could feel Jordan starting to pull away from me, a little at a time. She didn't like what she was seeing in me. She wasn't happy and I wasn't giving her much of a reason to be happy. The more I tried to find balance in my life the less I had. I felt alone, rejected, and miserable. I knew something had to change radically and soon. I just didn't know what to do about it, or how to do it. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior when I was six, was baptized as a teenager and I considered myself a reasonably good Christian person. But the older I got the further I got away from the Lord personally. I actually thought for a while that I was truly trusting God—that I was leaning on Him. But as time passed and things continued to spiral downhill in my stress-filled life, I slowly came to realize that I was really just paying lip service to God. The more I tried to get closer to Jesus, the more I saw how far away I really was. The more I read in the Bible about "trusting in the Lord with all your heart," the more I realized that I was living my life trusting mainly in myself. I had pretty much turned to my own way, hypocritically using God as a sort of fallback safety net when things got too intense for me to handle alone. I knew that I desperately needed help in every area of my life. So as a last resort, I turned to God and repeatedly started praying, "Help me, Lord." I hadn't been putting any time into my relationship with God, but I kept wondering, "Where is God when I need Him most?" Suddenly I saw, with perfect clarity, I was serving myself and my own carnal desires, worshipping material things and success. I knew I was going to stand in front of God and give an account for my actions. I would give an account for the testimony I had with others. I would answer for the husband and father I had been. Then it really hit me… My daughter would likely marry the type of man I had become. I was not the man of God that I wanted to be, and I certainly wasn't the man of God I had been created to be. It was time to change. Over the coming weeks, the Holy Spirit really started to work me over and instead of burying the thought of giving God control I started focusing on the thought. All the things I knew, all the scriptures I had heard, all the words of wisdom I had heard over the years really started to come alive. For the first time in my life, I was really moving to give God control of my life. I was moving from knowing God's word to actually trying to apply it to my life. "God, make me the man you want me to be!" "God, take control!" That was the cry of my heart that day. I confessed and repented of every sin I could think of – including the idolatry of worshipping money and the futility of trying to go my own way without letting the Holy Spirit control my life. But I knew that I wasn't done yet. I had made things right with God but I still had to make things right with my wife. How could I go to my wife and tell her I wasn't the man of God I proclaimed to be? What would she think? How embarrassing would it be? I walked into our bedroom crying. "I have a confession to make," I said to Jordan. "There is something I have to tell you . . . right now." "I have not been the godly husband that I should have been," I said to her between sobs. "I should have been following God and leading my family in His ways. Instead I've been following the ways of the world. But I want to do better and I have asked God to forgive me and to help me change. I'm asking you to do that, too." I realized that Jordan already knew I wasn't the man of God I said I was. Over the years, I had made promises to do better. These promises lasted for a season – a day, a week, a month or maybe even longer – then I would slip back into my old ways. But over the next few months, Jordan acknowledged and appreciated my sincere desire to give God control of my life. I really appreciated that vote of confidence from her. I needed the support and encouragement. By the same token, she needed to see me stepping up and being a godly husband and making godly decisions for the family, based not on temporary whims or earthly expediency but on the Word of God. Another thing that amazed me was the reaction I got from other people as I began to make these changes. Because I must confess, I couldn't keep quiet about what was going on in my life. It was all so radical, so transforming, so liberating to finally be following the will of God! I simply had to tell people what I was doing and why. I had no choice. And when I did...almost everyone was moved to start telling me about their own similar worries and problems. You see I thought I was alone. I thought I was the ONLY Christian man struggling to give God control. As I released all the pent-up stress in my life and turned it all over to God, the tension just started to melt away. I shared my problems and my fears with Jordan, and oftentimes she was the one who came up with the timely solutions we needed. Now we communicating more honestly with each other, share our thoughts and feelings more openly, and trust each other more completely. I'm not perfect by any means, but what I do have now is balance. My life is in control because I've allowed God to take the lead, and I strive daily to keep it this way. If you are struggling to find balance why not give God's way a try? Photo: Thieves go on shopping spree with stolen ATM card | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Jan 2018 10:45 PM PST Confusion enveloped the Car Wash area of Egbeda, Lagos State, yesterday as armed policemen and angry crowd chased a suspected thief through moving traffic, causing gridlock. The fleeing suspect was said to be part of six men who collected an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card from an 18-year-old boy at the Gowon Estate area of the metropolis, after he withdrew N10,000 from his elder brother's account. The suspects allegedly used the ATM to shop at Domino. The fleeing suspect would have been lynched by the angry mob, but for the quick intervention of operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). As the suspect was running for his life, he sighted the RRS men in their vehicle in traffic. He flung open their door and jumped in. This halted the action of the crowd and an armed policeman chasing him on a motorbike. After driving for a while, the RRS men stopped and handed him over to the policeman, who had continued to tail them. The suspect was dragged to Domino Shopping Mall, where two of his members were held and beaten. According to report, the suspect and five of his gang members saw the teenage boy at the ATM gallery and talked him into releasing the N10,000 with him and his elder brother's ATM card. They allegedly forced him to tell them the ATM Personal Identification Number (PIN). Thereafter, they allegedly locked the boy in a yet-to-be-disclosed location and went on a shopping spree. After shopping at Iyano- Ipaja area, the six of them went to the Domino Shopping Mall, where each picked the largest sized basket. It was when they started paying for the goods that the owner of the ATM card started receiving a series debit alerts. The alert was coming from the popular Domino Shopping Mall. He chartered a motorbike and raced to the place. He raised the alarm. The police at the scene were alerted and moved into the mall. The thieves, suspecting police were after them, scampered in different directions. One of them was chased through moving traffic before his eventual arrest. Witnesses said three were arrested, while three escaped. Passers-by and customers were said to have given the two suspects the beaten of their lives before the arrival of the police with their fleeing colleague. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chike Oti, said the suspects were already in police custody. Oti disclosed that the suspects would have escaped, if not for the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi's standing instructions to all police stations that communities should be patrolled 24 hours, especially shopping malls and recreational centres. He said: "We have a standing order from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, that every station should be at alert and all communities, eateries, malls and relaxation centres should be especially monitored. When the suspects attempted to escape, policemen were not too far. Our policemen chased one of the suspects through moving traffic and arrested him. They brainwashed him and collected the N10,000 from him and the ATM card. They gave him money from the N10,000 to go and buy salt for some spiritual works, which they wanted to do for him. Immediately he left, they went on a shopping spree. It was while they were shopping that the elder brother received series of debit alerts and became alarmed. He raced to the shopping mall and approached the manager. The DPO was alerted. We thank God for the vision and strategy of our CP." Daily Telegraph culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
I've advised him 18 times-Bakare slams Buhari over herdsmen killings | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Jan 2018 10:10 PM PST The Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has slammed the Muhammadu Buhari administration ,saying the current administration has failed in what seems to be its area of strength – security, and has permitted genocide in some parts of the country. Speaking yesterday in Lagos during his state of the nation address titled, "It is time to renegotiate our union", Bakare who was the running mate to President Buhari in the 2011 presidential election on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC)declared "This administration anchored its policy outlook on three main thrusts, including security, job creation through diversification, and anticorruption, yet all around us are signs of retrogression. "Nothing indicts the current government greater than its failure in one key performance area that ought to be its strength: security. "Despite recent setbacks, we acknowledge the gains in the war against Boko Haram, but highly disturbing is the mayhem being continually unleashed by herdsmen on communities in different states across the country, including Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Kaduna, Enugu, Edo and Ogun states, leaving trails of weeping and wailing. The recent killings in Benue State are akin to the last straw that is set to break the camel's back. "As was the case with previous administrations, the current government appears to be merely patching the cracks on the wall." "As at June 2015, the unemployment rate was 8.2% of a labour force of 74 million, meaning that about 6 million Nigerians were unemployed. By September 2017, despite such efforts as N-Power and a range of policies aimed at improving enterprise development and facilitating job creation, the unemployment rate had risen to 18.8% of a labour force of 85.1 million, indicating that between 2015 and 2017, the number of unemployed Nigerians rose from about 6 million to almost 16 million," Bakare said Describing the Buhari administration's anti-graft war as ineffective, Bakare said "The ineffectiveness of the anti-corruption war is seen in the loss of crucial corruption cases. "Not to mention the public showdown between EFCC and Department of State Services (DSS) officials or the opposition of the Director-General of the DSS to the confirmation of the Acting Chairman of the EFCC." Bakare, also criticized the Federal Government over its handling of the various herdsmen attacks across the country His words: "Not only has the government failed to stop these killings across the country, it has done so against the backdrop of conspiratorial silence, choosing rather to label such attacks "an issue of communal misunderstanding", as the Inspector- General of Police recently did in respect of the Benue attacks, it has treated the menace with kid gloves even after the Global Terrorism Index 2015 described "militant" herdsmen as "the fourth most deadly group of 2014". Worse still, some of these killings have reportedly been carried out in collusion with the military. "Recently, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Umar Bindir, justified the bearing of arms by the herdsmen, but failed to tell where the herdsmen get their guns from and with which government agency these guns are registered. "Who authorised them to bear arms? Who gave them immunity against section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act 1990, which prescribes punishment for illegal possession of arms? Who monitors the use of these guns? Why have the relevant government agencies failed to act? In particular, why has the name Department of State Services (DSS) become synonymous with the phrase "Deliberate Sinful Silence" (DSS)? Or is it now the Department of Sinful Silence?" "Mr. President, in his New Year address to the nation, did not consider the menace or the pain of victims of previous attacks worth a mention in his address," he said. Proffering solution to the current impasse in the country, Bakare said what Nigeria requires now is not elections, but a renegotiation of her union through restructuring. "Therefore, I say to those who have the power to take the decisions and actions necessary to end these atrocities, especially by restructuring the nation, but have failed to do so for political gains, that they are attempting to establish a city by iniquity and there are dire consequences. "You either restructure the country or get out. Leadership is by hard work and not by wearing babanriga. The current edifice of state has become a deathtrap. Asked whether he has parted ways with President Buhari, the clergyman said: "A friend speaks truth to his friend. What I have said in the open, I have said in the secret. I am not a coward. On whether he has had an audience with Buhari over the herdsmen killings, he said: "I have advised him severally, last year alone, I advised him 18 times." Bakare stated that in decent societies, the government would have been shown the way out on the Benue killings, explaining that: "Look at what happened to IPOB, they mobilized heavily, both military and air force to go because of a man that is not killing anybody, but just saying there will be no election and peace. "This is where people are literally being murdered and nothing was done. That is not justice. What happened to those 70 people is a sad tale. In fact, in decent societies, such government will be shown the way out." "The wind of change should blow any government that is not taking care of the welfare and security of the people away at anytime and anywhere.
Clarifying his recent statement where he was quoted during the watch night service on January 1st that God told him to contest in 2019, Bakare said the declaration was not a presidential campaign flag-off. "My priority is restructuring; I am not running for any election. The present political structure is even messing up the good people." He said his declaration for presidency has triggered massive anxiety and speculations in the polity, noting that it "was an invitation to prayers sent out to fellow labourers initiated in our corporate destiny as nation builders." It is, however, not surprising that politicians and the politically-minded have interpreted it as such," he said. Bakare said if it is the wish of God for him to lead the country, he would accept it in good faith, declaring that he is running, but not for elections even as he can still lead the country without contesting for elections. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Pastor Bakare Challenges FG To Restructure Nigeria Posted: 14 Jan 2018 09:59 PM PST The convener of Save Nigeria Group (SNG), Pastor Tunde Bakare, has urged the Federal Government to restructure the country by encouraging each geo-political zone to develop along its area of best comparative advantage. Bakare said that such restructuring would return the country to the winning formula of the past that facilitated its socio-economic development. According to him, with restructuring, Nigeria can leapfrog within 10 years the phases of industrialisation to become a global industrial powerhouse comprised of six geo-economic zones. NAN reports that he said this during a State of the Nation's briefing at his Latter Rain Assembly Church in Lagos on Sunday. He said, "The North-central zone can optimise its mechanised agricultural potential and harness the Rivers Niger and the Benue not just for irrigation but also for hydroponic farming. "It can become a centre of world class cattle ranching that will quell the menace of herdsmen attacks and also incubate allied opportunities such as meat, milk and leather processing. "The zone can then transit into heavy industries, including steel manufacturing and auto-manufacturing, while also harnessing the rivers as inland waterways and tourist attractions. "Similarly, the North-west zone can harness its vast arable land by deploying land-enhancing technologies for mechanised agriculture and cattle ranching, while also becoming Africa's defence manufacturing hub. "With these arrangements, the zone will be providing sufficient competitive impetus to revive its historical potential as a central hub in Africa's textile industry. "The North East will have the opportunity to redefine its identity from being a hotbed of insurgency to becoming a hub for cattle ranching, pharmaceutical and construction industries and its unique mineral resources such as clay, limestone and gypsum. "The South West can revive the vision of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, it will not just resuscitate its vast industrial and agro-allied manufacturing potential; it can become a global centre for warehousing and world-class sea and airports. "Lagos State can consolidate its position as the African hub of global finance. Nigeria owes this region the urgent activation of the pragmatic approach to restructuring. "This approach will see the zone progressively obtaining autonomy over these resources such that it can house a cluster of refineries and petrochemical industries," he said. Bakare said that with these approaches, within 10 years, from a near unitary structure comprising 36 states, these geo-economic zones could evolve into six strong federating geo-political zones and a Federal Capital Territory. The cleric who condemned the recent killings in the country, prayed for the repose of the dead. "I am also saddened by the terror attacks on places of worship during the festive season. My heartfelt condolences go to the families and communities in Guma and Logo Local Government Areas of Benue State. "Those who began the year in grief because of the murderous activities of heartless criminals, I pray that they, and every hurting Nigerian, will experience the comforting hand of God." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
