"2017 Was The Toughest Year In My Entire Life" - Toolz Posted: 01 Jan 2018 01:09 AM PST OAP Toolz said 2017 was one of the toughest year she had experienced in her entire life, she revealed that the year recorded the highest number of times she paid different hospitals a visit. She went on to reveal how some friends failed her when she needed them the most. Read how she chronicled her experience... '2017 has been the toughest year of my life so far. Without a doubt, it broke me. I spent way too much time in hospital, and I hate hospitals. I went through way more than I thought I could ever handle, and there were times when I was in so much physical and emotional pain that I wanted to give up. This year has taught me that EVERYONE will go through some type of adversity...we will all face things that will potentially break us. You can and should pray against it, but ultimately we must also remember to pray for the strength to get through what life will inevitably throw at us. God never promised us a perfect life, but in Isaiah 43:2-3 it says "When you go through deep waters and great trouble I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty you will not drown.... For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel..your Saviour".2017 broke me, but I'm grateful for the grace of God that put me back together again. I am eternally grateful for the special people He placed in my life that helped put me back together. My circle got a little smaller, but like someone told me a few months ago, every now and then God gives you the opportunity to spring clean your friendship closet...and that's a good thing. 2017 was my year of INTENSE TRAINING and GROWTH. I'm still healing, but I feel FEARLESS. Through great adversity comes strength and opportunity. If you had a difficult 2017, take comfort in the fact that you are still here...alive and able to experience another day. You may have been knocked down, but you are still here so YOU WON. I'm excited for what 2018 holds. By the grace of God I will be launching a project that I finally got the courage to finish. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog

Patience was abducted at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in July 2017 during her monthly Holy Ghost Congress but rescued on December 29. The suspect, 28 years old woman, Anuoluwapo Joshua, was said to have stolen the girl to meet the persistent demand by her husband to bring the child of a pregnancy she claimed to have had for him. "On receiving the information, the DPO Redeemed division SP Olaiya Martins led detectives to the center where they waited until the end of the program when the suspect came out to pick the child and was promptly arrested. She has since confessed to the crime. "She admitted that she lured child out of her parents sight and took her to Ofada area where she has been taking care of the child since then. Investigation further revealed that the suspect had earlier got pregnant for somebody in Lagos but traveled to the north where she claimed she has delivered if a baby girl. "But when she came back from the North, she didn't come with the baby which made the man who impregnated her to put pressure on her to bring his child for him. "She later informed her relatives that she was going to the Nasarawa state to bring the child but went to Redeemed Camp where she stayed for some days before succeeding in stealing the child which she presented to her relations as her daughter," Abimbola stated. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog

Nigerians Losing Hope On "Change" Promised Them - NLC Posted: 31 Dec 2017 10:09 PM PST The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC ) has said that the failure and inability of President Muhammadu Buhari led government to address the infrastructural deficit and other related problems, especially in the oil industry has dashed the hope placed on the change promised Nigerians by the APC led government. The congress said Nigerians have continued to be at the receiving end, with over 4 million Nigerians losing their job in 2017 according to statistics provided by the National Bureau of Statistics as against the three million jobs annually promised by APC. In his new year message to Nigerians, NLC President, Comrade Abubakar Wabba lamented that rather than work to create jobs and improve the condition of Nigerian working people and Nigerians in general, leading elements in the ruling APC government, like Governor Nasir el-Rufai, have been taking measures to further chastise and ruin Nigerians by throwing tens of thousands of workers into the already saturated unemployment market and wretchedness. According to him, 2017 saw the working people, pensioners and other Nigerians facing series of daunting socio-economic and security challenges, "even though we had hoped that the year would offer succour for the masses of the people." Wabba said the deplorable economic situation in 2017 is aptly captured by the statistics recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which indicated that over 4 million Nigerians lost their jobs in 2017. He said: "Against the background of the campaign promise of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government to create three million jobs annually, this statistics from the NBS underscores the grave and depressing situation of the Nigerian economic landscape in 2017. "Rather than work to create jobs and improve the condition of Nigerian working people and Nigerians in general, leading elements in the ruling APC government, like Governor Nasir el-Rufai, have been taking measures to further chastise and ruin Nigerians by throwing tens of thousands of workers into the already saturated unemployment market and wretchedness. "In the same vein, despite the huge revenue that the states have received through the Federal Government intervention funds to clear arrears of unpaid salaries and pensions in many states of the federation, coupled with additional payment of three tranches of windfall, (Paris Club debt refunds), states like Kogi, Osun, Benue, Ekiti, Bayelsa and several others entered 2018 with huge arrears spanning up to ten (10) or more months of wages and pensions. "Under these conditions, Nigerian workers, pensioners and their families remained the most despondent group in an economy that even the well-to-do are groaning and struggling to survive. No wonder, our country is one of the worst, known for having many hungry people in the world according to the World Hunger Index report 2017." He stressed that in recent times, Nigerians have witnessed one of the worst shortages in the supply of petrol in the history of the country in spite of Federal Government's repeated claim that with the complete removal of subsidy on petroleum products, scarcity of petroleum products would become a thing of the past. Wabba said that the position of the congress regarding the prevailing situation in the petroleum industry has been that the crisis in the industry is due to the inability or refusal of our ruling elite to refine all petroleum needs in Nigeria, adding that Nigeria remain the only major producer of crude oil in the world that depends on importation of refined products from abroad. He said "For us in the Congress, and for majority of working people in Nigeria, the hope placed on the capacity of President Buhari to bring about positive change is being undermined by his government's inability to address the infrastructural deficit and other related problems in the oil industry, such as making our existing refineries work at optimal capacity by refining products for domestic consumption. "Not only is government unable to achieve this for almost three years now, but moving forward more refineries, especially modular refineries which can be built between 12 and 18 months are required to address the reoccurring challenge of fuel scarcity and price hike in Nigeria and stop the exploitation of ordinary Nigerians. The inherent corruption in the system has made this impossible for more than three decades and should be addressed headlong." On the new minimum wage, Wabba said the tripartite committee recently inaugurated should expeditiously conclude its assignment and ensure that a new minimum wage is put in place before the third quarters of the year and urged the National Assemboy to give accelerated hearing g to the bill that will be produced by the committee. On local government autonomy the NLC President said: "Congress appreciates the recent passage of three core bills on Local Government autonomy in Nigeria by the National Assembly. It is our belief that the passage of the constitutional amendment to guarantee Local Government autonomy will promote good governance and deepen democratic culture at the grassroots level. "We therefore call on the State Houses of Assembly to demonstrate courage, patriotism and assert their desired independence by passing these constitutional amendment bills designed towards emancipating our local governments and freeing their finances from being usurped by governors who are determined to truncate the quest for democratisation at the local government level." Wabba wants the National Assembly and State Houses of Assemblies to ensure that payment of primary school teachers' salaries is put on first line charge of the Federation Account to assuage the fears of all stakeholders in the local government system. "Over the years, the Congress has advocated for good governance as a basis for sustainable development of our country. We have in similar tone campaigned against corruption in our body politics, as this malady has remained the greatest impediment to our quest for national development. "We believe that the ascendancy of the APC to power was rooted on the personal integrity and anti-corruption pedigree of President Buhari. As we move into 2018, our expectation is that the executive arm of government would push for the implementation of key anti-corruption protocols and good governance principles in our public and private institutions. "In the same vein, we call on the government to increase the tempo of the fight against corruption in a way that is fair, just and all encompassing." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog
Twitter unverifies user after spat with Chrissy Teigen | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 31 Dec 2017 10:02 PM PST A right-wing conspiracy theorist has been stripped of her Twitter verification after she posted photos of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's daughter and accused them of being part of a celebrity pedophile ring. Liz Crokin, who has 50,000 Twitter followers and says she is an investigative journalist, posted the photos last week of 20-month-old Luna dressed in various costumes including a pineapple, hotdog and Alice in Wonderland. According to Mailonline, Crokin also pointed out that Teigen had used a pizza emoji on one of her Snapchat photos of her daughter, linking her to the Pizzagate conspiracy theory that claimed Hillary Clinton was using a Washington pizza restaurant to run a child sex trafficking ring. An outraged Teigen took to social media on Saturday to share screenshots of some of Crokin's tweets and to slam Twitter for verifying the alt-right user's account. After a series of fiery tweets from Teigen and her husband John Legend - including some that threatened legal action - a disgruntled Crokin revealed on Saturday night that Twitter had removed her coveted blue verification tick. 'Twitter just unverified my account thanks to @chrissyteigen. That's OK cuz I care more about saving kids than I do about a blue checkmark!' Crokin tweeted. Teigen responded to the news by tweeting: 'Praise the Twitter lords.' '1000 people will tell you not to give them attention, to ignore it, who cares they're crazy, etc. Don't ignore it. Tired of letting these people get away with this s**t. Thank you, @Twitter.' culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog
4 Best Cities For First-Time Overseas Travelers Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:34 PM PST If you've never traveled abroad before, it can be quite daunting and overwhelming because you might find it hard to decide on where to go. Jumia Travel shares 4 of the best cities for first-time overseas travelers to make it easier for you to decide on where to travel to. Barcelona To be honest, there is really no place like Barcelona. In many ways, Barcelona encapsulates the best of Europe. If you really want to experience Europe, then Barcelona in Spain is one of the best places to visit. It is a very interesting place that's culturally diverse, with great and breathtaking scenery. It is one of the most tourist-friendly cities in the world. The best part about Barcelona is that there are a 'glut of cheap and chic hotels and/or accommodation' for you to relax in while visiting. They also have a bustling and delightful food scene that is sure to give your taste buds a culinary experience like no other. Paris Paris is considered one of the world's most visited cities and for good reason. There is a certain 'casual elegance' to the city and that is further enhanced by its array of famous museums, beautiful architecture and pretty, intimate streets. Paris is one of the best cities for first time travelers because there really is hardly a chance of getting bored or underwhelmed. The city has a virtually limitless and wide array of shopping, dining, drinking and sightseeing opportunities. The best part about Paris is its extensive metro-system that makes transportation or getting around relatively easy. The only downside is that Paris is quite an expensive city but if you are able to budget well and set aside enough money, you are sure to have a great and memorable experience. United Kingdom This is the obvious choice for many first-time overseas travelers, especially those from Anglophone countries, because everyone speaks English so there will be less of a culture shock. The UK is very diverse so it offers the opportunity to enjoy big cities, beautiful seashores, as well as spectacular highlands. When visiting the UK, try to base your stay in London so you can visit iconic attractions like the Tower of London, Big Ben etc., and enjoy day trips to places like Windsor, Bath and St. Albans. Accomodation in the UK can be quite on the expensive side, so it will help if you know someone living in the UK that you can stay with during your visit. However, if you prepare, budget well and put enough money aside, you should be able to take care of accomodation without really breaking a sweat. Canada This is generally a great place for first-time overseas travelers. It's a safe, very friendly and incredibly scenic place. It's ideal for outdoor adventures like whale watching, puffin and iceberg cruises, kayaking, hiking etc. There are also some great and delicious foods to enjoy like the famous sweet Canadian maple syrup. Many travelers to Canada go there to enjoy its calm, peaceful and scenic ambience. Canada is known to be one of the safest countries in the world, as well as one of the best countries in the world. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog

2017 was a tough year for me -Damilola Adegbite opens up in emotional post | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:02 PM PST Actress,Damilola Adegbite is ending 2017 in a reflective mode. The mother of one who split from her husband,Ghanaian actor, Chris Attoh wrote 2017 was a tough year for me. One of the toughest of my life. My trust was betrayed in heart breaking ways and I had to go through some very painful overwhelming changes. But in all this, I am eternally grateful because who I am became crystal clear to me. Most importantly, I became more convinced that there is a higher power ( call it nature, karma, the universe.. I choose "GOD"). A GOD who listens when called on and who fights for the patient and selfless. He gave me some things I thought I really really wanted, to prove to me that there is nothing impossible for him to do, but he took them away again, this time by force, because sometimes, what we want is not necessarily good for us. It's an uncomfortable process, like a child being weaned, but it signifies growth and advancement. I can't deny that my scars are still healing, and I'm still a little dizzy from trying to adjust 😂but ultimately, I am thankful for the opportunity to have been handed an almost brand new slate and for the courage to accept it. This coming year, if things aren't going the way you planned, sometimes, you may just have to take some steps back or away and choose to look at things from a different angle. I promise you, there is always a silver lining. When you are treated unjustly, you don't always have to fight back or retaliate. Sometimes all you need to do is WALK AWAY from the situation. The law of karma will sort things out. Watever happens, trust that things are falling in place as they need to FOR YOUR GOOD. Stay POSITIVE and CHEERFUL, train yourself not to hold on to anything or anyone too tightly and never let anyone or any situation dim your LIGHT. I wish you and your loved ones a prosperous new year. May 2018 be the best year of our lives so far 🙏 I don't know about you but I am super SUPER excited about my future 🤛 culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog

UN issues red alert, warns world | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 31 Dec 2017 11:52 AM PST UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has issued "a red alert'' to the world" ahead of the year 2018. Guterres said: "On New Year's Day 2018, I am not issuing an appeal. I am issuing an alert – a red alert for our world.'' The UN chief, in a new year message, expressed regret that in 2017, the world went in reverse to the appeal for peace. He said that when he assumed office one year ago, he had appealed for 2017 to be a year for peace. "Conflicts have deepened and new dangers have emerged. Global anxieties about nuclear weapons are the highest since the Cold War. As the world begins 2018, the UN chief called for global unity. Guterres added that he truly believed we could make our world more safe and secure. "We can settle conflicts, overcome hatred and defend shared values. But we can only do that together," he said. The UN chief urged leaders everywhere to make this New Year's resolution: "Narrow the gaps. Bridge the divides. Rebuild trust by bringing people together around common goals." Guterres, who assumed office on Jan. 1, 2017, stressed that in 2018, "unity is the path" adding, "our future depends on it". "I wish you peace and health in 2018. Thank you. Shokran. Xie Xie. Merci. Spasiba. Gracias. Obrigado," the ninth UN chief concluded. (NAN) culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
