| #EndSars: 32 SARS Operatives In Detention In Abuja Posted: 13 Dec 2017 03:50 AM PST  A source said that the arrested officers were moved to Abuja from different state commands during the weekend. "The suspects, who are all male, are now being held at various detention cells of the Federal SARS at Guzape District, Abuja," the source said. "Since their arrival in Abuja, their family members and lawyers have not been allowed to see them based on an order from above." The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who reportedly ordered their arrests, is said to have assembled a team of top Police investigators to look into their cases. Sources learned that they are being investigated for cases ranging from extortion, robbery, rape, among others. The commands where the suspects were serving have been directed to report to Abuja with proofs and exhibit needed in the course of investigation. The source said Lagos Command has the highest number of suspects, next to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. "Their immediate orderly room trial and punitive measures will also become part of the ongoing moves to stem the tide of alleged impunity being campaigned against the Police institution," the source said. "At a recent meeting with the Police management team, the IG decided to apply prompt punishment for any SARS officer found wanting here in Abuja instead of their commands, where such cases are not properly handled." Yusuf Kolo, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of SARS at the force headquarters, refused to speak on the arrest when contacted by sources Kolo said his job is "purely operational and investigative in nature." However, Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests, but did not disclose the number of operatives in detention. "I am aware of their investigation, but I don't know the number of people involved," he told Sources. | Gunmen Invade EFCC Boss Magu’s House, Kill Policeman Posted: 13 Dec 2017 03:10 AM PST  It was learnt that the gunmen stormed the farmhouse in Karshi in the Federal Capital Territory at about 10pm and exchanged fire with the policemen on sentry. A police Sergeant was hit and he died instantly. This is the second time the same house will be attacked by unknown armed men. The last 10 months had been tough for Magu because of his refusal to bow to pressure from some high-profile suspects and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs). Following threats, security was beefed up for Magu and his immediate family leading to the deployment of policemen to the uncompleted bungalow in Karshi. | It is the work of the devil-Man who hacked wife of 10 years to death in Niger | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Dec 2017 09:23 PM PST  According to the police, Tanko, who hails from Maigoge Village in the Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, allegedly hacked Auta, his wife of 10 years, to death following an altercation. Tanko, according to the police, threw the cutlass he allegedly used to kill his wife into a nearby bush in his bid to cover up the crime. In a chat with Northern City News on Tuesday, Tanko said his late wife starved him of food for five days, adding that he attacked her in the heat of an argument. "My wife was fond of not giving me food on time and when I complained, she would abuse me. She never gave me food each time I demanded it. Regretting the incident that led to his wife's death, however, Tanko said it was the work of the devil and advised men to always keep their anger in check. The suspect pleaded for forgiveness. "I am sorry, extremely sorry for what happened; it was the work of the devil and I pray my in-laws would find a place in their hearts to forgive me. I regret all my actions," he said. The singer fired off a cease and desist letter to the beer company demanding they shut down production of the beer, according to Pitchfork.com. But the superstar is saying no-can-do to sales of the suds, in part because the beer label uses the same pink lettering that featured on her self-titled 2013 album.  Brewery owner Katarina Martinez has been selling the beer since October 2016. But trouble didn't bubble up until she got the letter last month, she said. "As a Hispanic, female-run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I'd pay homage," Martinez told Pitchfork. "We're disappointed she didn't take it as a compliment, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted!" Martinez said she was inspired to brew the pilsner after she bought tickets to a Beyoncé show but could attend. | 31-year-old man defiles two sisters, ages two, four | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Dec 2017 02:03 PM PST  Oyedeji, who resides at No.61, Oduselu St., Itire, Lagos, was arraigned on four counts that bothered on unlawful detention and defilement of children. The prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the accused committed the offence at No. 61, Oduselu St., Itire, Lagos, at about 3am on Nov. 13 and Nov.14. Osayande said that the accused resided at the same address with the parents of the girls. She said that the girls' mother was ill and there was need to rush her to the hospital while the girls were alone in the house. "The accused, who was a neighbour to the complainant, then unlawfully detained both of them with the intent to have sexual intercourse with them. She said the accused unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the girls by defiling the four-year-old girl on Nov.13, but was caught when he tried to defile the younger one the following day. The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 137 and 144 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Senior Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum. Nwachukwu said one of the sureties must be a civil servant on not less than salary grade level 14, while the other must be resident in his own building. She said the sureties should provide evidence of tax payments and that their addresses must be verified. | Husband jailed 7 years for raping his 'drunk' wife | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 12 Dec 2017 12:43 PM PST  The 35-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, picked up his wife after a night out in Reading, Berkshire, and then raped her at their home as their children slept upstairs. The following morning the woman, who had been drunk the night before, told her partner that while she could not remember much, she believed she had been raped. According to Mailonline, her husband urged her to contact the police but DNA evidence revealed he had been her rapist. Reading Crown Court heard that earlier in the night the pair had rowed on the way to a friend's barbecue and the woman had spent the night drinking in a bar before she was found in a drunken stupor. The husband was called to collect her and found her in the town centre slumped on a bench. Sentencing the husband, Judge Alexia Durran said: 'On May 14 of last year at around 7pm you and your wife argued – you were on your way to a friend's barbecue. Your wife stormed off and caught a bus to Reading town centre.' The judge said CCTV footage shows she went to a bar and drank a 'considerable amount of alcohol' before leaving 'completely intoxicated' at about 1am. At 2am a member of the public called the man to say his wife was draped over a bench close to a major road. The judge said: 'In your evidence to the court and in your interview with police, you said she was very drunk, barely coherent and had trouble talking.The husband was yesterday jailed for seven years and ordered to sign onto the Sex Offenders' Register for life. He was also made the subject of a restraining order, banning him from contacting his estranged wife, other than through solicitors. The victim, who attended court, had described in a statement read to the court by the judge about feeling betrayed by the one person in the world she trusted the most. Judge Alexia Durran said: 'She described the total and utter shock upon finding out the person responsible was you, her husband. According to Page six, "They were arguing and definitely in a fight," says a spy at the "Kith x Daniel Arsham" event hosted by Jayma Cardoso. "[Richie] wouldn't even talk to him. He grabbed her neck to try and kiss her, and she wasn't having it. They ended up leaving." Another spy tells us that when a female party attendee whom Disick did not know commented, "Scott, you look upset," the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star turned and yelled, "I'm not upset! She ordered that the sureties must be property owners in Lagos State and should have evidence of tax payment to the state government. Osunsanmi said that she needed advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions. The magistrate adjourned the case until Feb. 2, 2018 for mention. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abuya, a resident of Idimu Road, Egbeda, Lagos, is standing trial on a count charge of defilement. The prosecutor, Mr Simeon Imhonwa, said that the accused regularly had a sexual intercourse with the minor at his residence. "The accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of his child on Nov. 29 at his residence and threatened to kill her if she would tell anyone about the crime,'' Imhonwa said. "The accused had been defiling the girl before he was apprehended. "The victim's mother reported the case to the police after their daughter narrated her ordeal," he said. | Tinubu Replies Okorocha: "APC Mustn’t Behave Like PDP" Posted: 12 Dec 2017 11:15 AM PST  He said his party must not behave like the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, which, according to him, has a penchant for giving automatic tickets rather than allow a neutral contest for all interested members. Tinubu, however, said his position should not be misconstrued by the Governor Rochas Okorocha-APC governors' forum, saying he believed that governors had an important role to play in the emergence of the party's candidates. Tinubu was quoted as expressing these views in a statement on Monday by his media aide, Tunde Rahman. According to Rahman, the statement was intended to clarify the misrepresentation in an interview that Tinubu granted journalists during his last visit to Akure. Tinubu had been quoted as saying that the APC would not give President Muhammadu Buhari an automatic ticket for the 2019 presidential election. Rahman noted that Okorocha had reacted to the statement credited to Tinubu, construing it as a slight on the APC governors who had endorsed Buhari for re-election in 2019. While also speaking with journalists in Akure, Okorocha had said the governors were entitled to their right to endorse Buhari for re-election, wondering why Tinubu was "crying more than the bereaved." But Rahman said Tinubu did not attack the APC governors in the interview he granted journalists in Akure. He said, "We note the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha's statement. It is important that the record of what Asiwaju Tinubu said when approached by journalists during his last visit to Akure is accurate. Thus, I make this statement in the hope of clarifying a misinterpretation that seems to have taken hold in some quarters. "I was at the interview session. Asiwaju never said anything that could be interpreted as meaning or even implying that the governors are irrelevant or insignificant to the party's nomination process. "As a former governor and a leading statesman within the party, such words would never come from him. "Moreover, Asiwaju is a democrat who believes that the open and democratic processes of the APC, which led to the nomination of President Buhari in the first instance, have served the party well and have helped to distinguish the APC from the PDP and other parties where fairness and internal democracy are rare commodities. "Every individual has a right to endorse or support a candidate of his choosing. What Asiwaju said at that encounter and still canvasses is that the APC should not mimic the PDP's penchant for short-circuiting internal democracy by promoting the idea of an automatic ticket. "The exercise of internal democracy and honouring the letter and spirit of party rules can only strengthen the party and enthuse its members.
