Hard Drugs: Unilag begins students testing | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 03:44 AM PST

In a bid to check drug abuse on campus, the University of Lagos has provided a drug test kit in its medical centre to examine students suspected to be on hard drugs.

Prof. Rahaman Bello, outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the institution, confirmed this at a forum with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Bello said that the initiative was necessary because drug abuse was on the increase in the nation's tertiary institutions.

"Drug abuse is a major problem for every institution, particularly, those in the cities. We have gone ahead in the University of Lagos to address it.

"With the test kit, anyone who is suspected, his or her urine or blood depending on what we want to do, is collected for test.
"The thing about drug is that when you take it, it will be in your blood for a long time, so you cannot say , I did not use it once the test kit detects it.
"Before, we start using the test kit, everyone we picked denied using drug since we could not find any evidence," he said.

According to him, with the test kit, the university has been able to pin down victims, but granted them amnesty.

He said that although the university's regulation provided that any student found dealing with drug should be expelled, the management had to warn and rehabilitate them.

"With the rehabilitation, the victims are given two or three semesters to 'get clean'. By this, we mean they will visit the medical centre on monthly basis to get tested.
"If after two or three visits, you are found clean, we will admit you back to the system, if not you are sent out.
"This we do not to unnecessarily punish them, but to assist them to find a way to regain themselves," he said.

Bello said that about 100 students of the university were detected to be using hard drugs in 2016.

Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner accused of sexual harassment | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 03:44 AM PST

Writer Ben Ryan has accused Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner of sexual harassment.

Ryan told BuzzFeed News that Wenner offered him a career advancement in exchange for sex during a meeting in 2005.

Wenner acknowledged the encounter in a statement to Variety.

"I met Ben 12 years ago, and I attempted to have a sexual liaison with him. He turned me down, which I respected. I had no intention of making him feel uncomfortable. His piece was subsequently published in any case; no work was promised and no work was lost. I have never and would never make an offer of this kind."
The two had a meeting at Wenner's townhouse. Ryan claims Wenner made him a drink and sat with him on a couch before quickly making a move on him. Wenner had been out as gay for 10 years at that point, Ryan said.

"I had Jann Wenner's tongue in my mouth," Ryan said. "I went along for a second, but then said something to the effect of, 'Oh please, I'm not that kind of girl.'"
When Ryan tried to leave, Wenner allegedly said he would offer him a writing contract if he stayed.

"I think there was that moment where it's like time stood still, and you're imagining how this could be the answer to all my struggles. All I would have to do is this one thing," Ryan said. "But that's not me. I would never do that."

Ryan's boyfriend at the time, James Harris, confirmed Ryan's account of the incident, as did three other people Ryan said he told in subsequent years.

Ryan also provided BuzzFeed News with a detailed journal entry he wrote the night of the alleged encounter. It reads,
"It was the most pure form of sexual harassment: he pawed and groped and I insisted no, but he persisted promising me a '25 article contract' in the most disingenuous voice. 'Preferential treatment.' I was forced to kiss him. His mouth was dry and he was a serpent-like kisser, lashing with his tongue. After 90 minutes I left dignity relatively intact."

"I Lost The Love of My Life Because I Refused To Marry Her" – Jim Iyke

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 03:07 AM PST

Actor Jim Iyke has revealed that the best relationship he had with the woman he said was the love of her life never made it to the pages of the newspaper.

In a chat with Punch, he revealed that although they were in love, the relationship ended because the lady wanted marriage when he was not ready to settle down.

Iyke said, "Compatibility and love are not enough to tie the knot. I have been in love before and the truth is that one of my best relationships never made it to the pages of the newspaper. She was a girl from Barbados, she was a very special girl and we were together for one and a half years but I actually lost her. There was something she wanted me to do but I could not at that point in my life because I was a little bit too crazy, hung up on fame and indecisive about life.

"She decided to make a decision for both of us by insisting I put a ring on her fingers. She wanted me to make that move or move on so that I didn't block the space for another man because I wasn't ready. She moved on because she was that strong even though she suffered the consequence of not being with me for a while. By the time I realised that she was the love of my life and started backtracking, a more discerning man had taken over; that was what happened. By the time I got back, I realised she had another man and even though I wanted to find a backdoor into her heart, I was shocked to realise that the guy is a sharpshooter because she was already pregnant for him."

Speaking about one of the ladies he has been linked with in the past, Nadia Buhari, the actor said that their relationship was mostly based on the reality television show he had five years ago, Jim Iyke Unscripted.

"My relationship with Nadia Buhari did not end up in a messy way and why I say this is because two people with an entertainment background met and there was a reality show, so we did the smartest thing any entertainer would do – we entertained the world. It is as simple as that. When the entertainment was done, we went back to our normal lives. So, for anybody that thinks anything extraordinary happened, it was just live television.

I got what I wanted and that was the ratings. We both understood what we were getting into and we both got the mileage we wanted and we moved on in life with absolutely no grievances. Although we had something personal which also spanned into our professional world, people should not have thought it would amount to something serious. The ratings were the foremost in our minds and we got that; five years down the line people are still talking about it," he said.

Blac Chyna abandons daughter Dream Kardashian on her birthday | Mr Olumide's Blog

Blac Chyna has been criticized for not spending Dream Kardashian's birthday with the toddler ,instead spending most of the day with her lawyer.

Here is how Daily Mail reports it

You only get one first birthday.

But sadly for Dream Kardashian her mom Blac Chyna was too busy to celebrate it with her on Friday.
Instead the 29-year-old chose to spend the day with her lawyer Walter Mosley.
The reality star shared several snapchats of the fun day she spent hanging out with the entertainment attorney, between bouts of classily flaunting her wealth.
Dressed in black pants and boots, a white shirt, a wide brimmed black hat and a long black wig, the former stripper uploaded clips of herself driving around in her Maybach, flaunting her jewels and Chanel handbag, and dancing for Mosley while he played piano.

Lucky Dream did however get to see her mommy have her make-up applied for her special day, as Chyna allowed her youngest to sit on her lap while she snapped the early afternoon slot.

The day before, Chyna appeared to spend the day shoe shopping with Mosely too.

Chocolate and red wine 'are the secret to beating wrinkles' | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 01:34 AM PST

The secret to staying youthful is eating chocolate and drinking red wine, researchers claim.
Scientists discovered both helped to rejuvenate old cells, making them look younger and start to behave more like young cells.
When we age, the strands of DNA in our cells gradually lose the protective telomeres, which that act like the plastic tips at the end of shoelaces.

The team applied compounds based on chemicals naturally found in red wine, dark chocolate, red grapes and blueberries to cells in the laboratory.
These foods are rich in flavonoids, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Lead researcher Professor Harries said:
'This is a first step in trying to make people live normal lifespans, but with health for their entire life.'Our data suggests that using chemicals to switch back on the major class of genes that are switched off as we age might provide a means to restore function to old cells.'
Dr Eva Latorre, research associate at the University of Exeter, who carried out the experiments, was surprised by the extent and rapidity of the changes in the cells.
She said: 'When I saw some of the cells in the culture dish rejuvenating I couldn't believe it.
'These old cells were looking like young cells. It was like magic.
'I repeated the experiments several times and in each case the cells rejuvenated. I am very excited by the implications and potential for this research.'
The research was published in the journal BMJ Cell Biology,Mailonline reports.

Why Do Good Men Marry Bad Women?

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 01:22 AM PST

Sometimes, I don't know what some men really want in relationships. You will see a man who has a good woman in his life, one who loves him, supports him and is faithful to him, yet he leaves her to go marry a devil.

I have seen this happen over and over again that I am tempted to say that some men don't know what they want. They are confused about this thing called relationship. Or, perhaps, they get swallowed up by their greed because they want to have everything!

When it comes to relationships, you can't have it all. You should be in a relationship with someone with whom you are comfortable. You shouldn't lose that because of mundane things. Some men know exactly the type of girl they are supposed to be with. They know exactly the type of woman they should end up with in order to have a happy and healthy relationship. They know the kind of woman they should marry and raise a family with, but they suddenly go in the opposite direction. Why?

They will leave that woman who is ready to move heaven and earth for them. They will play with her but choose the one wrapped in adventure. But when trouble starts later, they will start crying that all women are bad.

I would advise men to stop thinking with their penis but think with a good head instead when it comes to relationship and marriage. Don't go for a bad woman because you think sex with her will always be good. There are other qualities you should look out for in a woman.

I had a neighbour some years ago who left a beautiful, hardworking, respectful and calm lady he was dating because his father told him that Lagos girls are bad and corrupt, to settle for a village champion instead.

The ironic thing was that his wife was a stark opposite of his former girlfriend. She was ugly, ill-mannered, disrespectful, fought all the time and was lazy. She ran down his business in three years.

She fought with almost everybody in our compound then. People avoided her like a plague. It affected her husband's relationship with others as well as his business. If they fought, she would start breaking plates and cups.

She would also throw things at him; verbally insult him and his family members to the hearing of their neighbours. She didn't mind disrespecting him all the time. The marriage wore the once nice guy down. But it was too late. He couldn't undo his mistake. He blamed his father for choosing the devil as he called her for him.

When I asked a friend why good men marry bad women, he said that because men are risk-takers; they believe that they are up to the task. Even though it is glaring that a woman is bad for them, they would still go ahead and date or marry such women because they feel they can handle it.

Some men end up with bad women because they think that good girls are boring in bed. I have heard men say this. They tell you that good girls are just there but the bad girls bring out the best in them.

These men claim that bad girls drive them wild in bed, so they marry them. They forget that marriage requires many qualities. Their eyes open after marriage. They then understand that there's more to marriage than great sex and wild orgasms.

Some men end up marrying bad women because unlike women they have a difficult time figuring out what they truly want. These men will tell you that they want a beautiful, hardworking woman who should be a wife, a mother, a whore, a cook, a washerwoman, a secretary and adviser. They just want their women to be everything, which is impossible.

I knew a young man who had a good woman by his side for over four years. She was with him through thick and thin. They met in the university and she stuck to him like glue even though he offered her only himself and his lofty dreams.

She loved him, stood by him while he was still trying to find his feet. She refused to leave him even when her friend tried to match-make her with one big boy in town then. This girl was certain that her boyfriend would succeed and marry her. She refused to listen to anything contrary that people were telling her.

But years later, after the young man started making money, he broke up with this girl. He said she was too humble and quiet for his liking. He claimed he needed a feisty woman by his side who would sustain the success he had attained. The girl was shattered. She cried and begged him but he stood his ground.

Months later, he married the woman he wanted by his side and all hell broke loose. While in courtship, she pretended to be nice at first and won the hearts of his family members. They welcomed her and sang her praises to everyone who cared to listen.

But things changed after they got married. She became the opposite of everything he wanted from her. She would insult him, steal his money, buy things in his name, chase away his family members from their home and almost destroyed his business.

The young man regretted his action. He traded the good woman he had for someone who gave him high blood pressure. He had to lie on his bed the way he made it. So, I ask again, why do good men marry bad women? Is it because of confusion, greed or excitement? I need your answers.

Vote and die, IPOB threatens Anambra residents | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 01:14 AM PST

One week to the governorship election in Anambra State, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra has threatened voters with death if they vote. They also vowed to disrupt the election.

The members of the group marched around some streets in Onitsha, Anambra State on Friday, vowing a lockdown on the day of the election, which is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Members of the group can be heard threatening voters in  videos of the march circulating online.

They said, ""If you vote you will die. Don't go out, stay in your house. If you vote on November 18, you will die. We are not running around for the zoo.
"There will be no election. We will not participate, we will not vote. Nothing concerns us with any election. We are formidable.
"We are in Onitsha to tell the Federal Government to produce Kanu. They should release all the Biafrans in Nigerian prisons."

Speaking with one of PUNCH correspondents on the telephone, IPOB's Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, noted that the purpose of the demonstration in Onitsha was to show the world that "the threat of bullet" would not stop the group from realising its aim of having Biafra Republic.

He said Igbo people living outside the South-East should contact their families at home to boycott all future Nigerian elections, including the governorship election.

Powerful said,
"Today in Onitsha, we broke the python Buratai, Ohanaeze, Obiano and Igbo governors brought to our land. Anybody doubting the resolve of IPOB under the supreme command of Nnamdi Kanu is mistaken.
"We will put Anambra State on lockdown on November 18. This is a taste of what is to come. Nigeria should be prepared.
"It is also very critical to inform every Biafran, be you IPOB family member, businessman, farmer, artisan, driver, teacher, doctor, motorcycle/tricycle union, civil servant, trader, market leader, National Union of Road Transport Workers, National Association of Road Transport Owners, fisherman, market men and women, including politicians who believe in freedom and liberty of a free independent State of Biafra, to boycott the Anambra State election."

According to him, the election boycott will give their agitation a global momentum needed to make world leaders accept a peaceful break-up of Nigeria.

Also, the Force spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, warned the IPOB members to steer clear of the state during and after the forthcoming governorship election, in their own interest, saying the police would deal with IPOB members "the way an outlawed group should be dealt with."

"They (IPOB) should steer clear of Anambra because we have deployed enough personnel in the state; any miscreant who misbehaves would have himself to blame as he would be dealt with. IPOB should not test our will or resolve," Moshood cautioned.

Women, Young Men Busted In Child Traffickers In Abia

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 12:52 AM PST

The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi, on Friday paraded six members of a child trafficking syndicate arrested in Aba.

The suspects also work in collaboration with syndicates scattered in other South-East, South-South states who illegally sell stolen children to potential buyers.

The syndicate, it was gathered, targets children from three months to three years old and are sold for between N150,000 to N300,000 depending on the bargaining power of the would-be buyer.

Police source said that the suspects were intercepted by personnel of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria and handed over to the Police for arrest following intelligence report.

Among those rescued during the operation was a four-year-old boy, who was recently kidnapped on his way from church with his brother in Mbano, Imo State.

The commissioner said among the suspects, were a couple from Mbano that had been selling their babies and later became agents themselves.

He said in order to spread their tentacles; the couple started recruiting more people into the business from other parts of the south-east with special interest in Imo State.

Ogbizi said, "By 9pm on Monday, my officers on duty within the Abayi area in Aba got information that people suspected to be child traffickers are within the neighbourhood. My men accosted them and when they were questioned, they said that they were going to lodge in a hotel.

"Not convinced with their response, the personnel brought them to our office and on interrogation, they made confessional statements that they are child trafficking syndicate."

I’m sorry for impregnating another man’s wife; Celestial pastor

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 12:22 AM PST

A Celestial Church priest, David Adebayo on Friday begged a Customary Court sitting in Mapo area of Ibadan to pardon him for impregnating Omolara Ojeyemi, a legal wife of Abiodun Ojeyemi.

Adebayo, who is a resident of Alakuko area of Alagbado in Lagos said Omolara was his concubine and that he had been sleeping with the married woman for the past 12 years.
His words; "My lord, anytime Omolara left her husband in Ibadan, she used to come to meet me in Lagos where we usually have fun. Sometimes, she came after her closing hour in her office and returned to Ibadan the following morning.
"Omolara only told me that she and her husband were no more in good terms even though she had already had two children. I swear... I didn't intend to destroy her relationship with her husband, she is just my girlfriend.

"The pregnancy in her tommy belongs to me, I was the one that deflowered her during my NYSC days. I followed her into the court to ensure that her union with Abiodun is dissolved today not that I am daring the court's power," Adebayo explained.

Adebayo however, apologized to the court for causing so much disharmony in Abiodun's family and for having unlawful s*xual inter-course with a housewife.

President of the court, Ademola Odunade dissolved the seven year-old marriage between Omolara and Abiodun Ojeyemi and ordered Abiodun to take custody of their two children.

The judge cried out that the society is fast undergoing an unprecedented decay in morality, especially how adultery is ruining many marriages.

"It is so tragic that a man can deliberately impregnate a housewife with children. It has never happened in the history of this court that a concubine will accompany his mistress to the court with the intention of daring us, saying nothing will happen," the judge said.

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 12:22 AM PST

The 2018 budget recently presented by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly lacks the capacity to grow the economy, the CEO, Financial Derivatives Company Ltd., Mr Bismarck Rewane, and other stakeholders in the academia and industry have said.

They said although the country was in dire need of growth given the current economic times, the 2018 budget was not an option in giving the economy a leap. Why?

The stakeholders said this at the 2018 Budget Seminar organised by SEC in Lagos on Friday.

Also present at the forum were a UNILAG professor of Economics, Ifeanyi Nwokoma; the Director-General, Lagos Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Muda Yusuf; and SEC DG, Mr. Mounir Gwarzo.

For the 2018 budget, Rewane said expenditure growth was zero, pointing out that there were no stimulants for growth.

"It is not an expansionary budget; we are not spending our way to growth," he said.

He said multiple exchange rates in the economy were not addressed in the budget, noting that the prevalence of such rates would continue to distort the market.

He added, "Inflationary projection in the budget is not realistic. Government is silent on subsidy on power and petroleum products, and minimum wage. The projection for non-oil revenue is not realistic and the deficit gap may widen after all."

In the same vein, Nwokoma described the 2018 budget as a very ambitious one.

He said, "Oil production is also ambitious. We are being too optimistic without a clear plan of how to achieve our target. Over the years, we have distorted the budget cycle. This will affect implementation and good accounting. Nigeria should have a clear budget cycle and budgetary interferences should be avoided.

"N305 per dollar exchange rate is not real. I foresee a wide margin in the budget implementation. Government ambition is magical. If we hasten the passage of the 2018 budget for February or so, 2017 budget implementation will be inconclusive."

He added, "We are not learning from the challenges or problems of 2017 budget. It is likely we fall into same mess. Our budgetary woes have become recurrent, and we are not learning from the past."

To this end, Yusuf said that the budget had a higher capital spending compared to previous years. This, he said, was commendable.

He also said the military, police, health and education were areas for higher recurrent spending, given their critical nature.

"That the budget is focusing more on infrastructure is a good way to go. But given that subsidy areas are becoming a huge threat to the economy and the budget is rather silent on it calls for worry."

Yusuf said, "Being totally silent about this is bad. Contractor arrears are also becoming a threat as over 'N2tn is at stake. The risk involved in doing business with government is becoming worrisome.

"Private sector participation in the budget was not made clear especially in terms of infrastructure financing. The private sector should play a major role here."

Girl Impregnated by Lagos Pastor loses Fallopian Tube during Abortion

Posted: 11 Nov 2017 12:22 AM PST

You can't because of the misguided actions of some pastors not serve your God as it's expected of you as the said pastor(s) won't stand for judgment for you when you die; you will stand for yourself.

There are human beings who get involved in such acts in the business world, in entertainment and in all other places where people meet from day to day. This is truly a sad story. God have mercy!
  • Hospital carried out abortion, told me it was appendectomy – Mother
  • Mum lied, we saved girl from ectopic pregnancy – Doctor
  • He filmed while sleeping with me, says victim

As written by The Punch's Kunle Falayi...
If there is one thing that Mrs. B. regrets most in her life, it is the day she walked into the Royal Heritage Church, Mafoluku, Lagos, for the first time.

Shortly after that day, with her teenage daughter in tow, she approached the pastor of the church, Tunde Daniel, a man in his 50s with two wives, and sought his spiritual help on the girl's plan to become a model.

Mrs. B. said that the pastor had told her he could make a super model out of the girl.

Because of the sensitivity of this case, the report decided to keep the family anonymous.

But Mrs. B. said the moment she approached the pastor for help was the day she lost control of her daughter, who is now 16 years old. For more than a year, Mrs. B said she was struggling to get a grip of her life and win her daughter back from the hold Pastor Daniel allegedly had on her.

From that moment on began a relationship that allegedly snowballed into a sexual slavery for Mrs. B's daughter.

According to her, it got to a point that if she gave her daughter an instruction, her obedience would depend on whether the pastor agreed or not.

The girl would occasionally visit the married pastor at his 8, Owolabi Street, Mafoluku, Lagos.

Mrs. B said, "My daughter suddenly became distant and she no longer listened to me. Then, one day, she ran away from home. I was at my shop when she ran away and her siblings were with me in the shop.

"I got home and was expecting to see her. I became worried after a few hours, but I still did not see her. Neighbours also could not tell me where she was.

"It was while searching everywhere for her that I noticed the money I kept in the house had gone.

"I tried to call Pastor Daniel but could not reach him on the phone and I went to his house. When I got there, I was told he was not around and for four days, my daughter was missing.

"Few days later, Pastor Daniel brought her back home in the evening. When I asked where she had been, she ignored me and when I asked the pastor, he shouted at me."

Mrs. B. warned her daughter to stay away from the pastor but all she got in response was the rebuff.

According to her, Tunde continued to meet with the girl in secret.

Mrs. B. explained that unknown to her, the sexual abuse her daughter allegedly suffered in the hands of the pastor started in 2016 when the girl was still 15.

"She said that anytime she went to school, Pastor Daniel would pick her up there and take her to a hotel.

"One day in late February, 2017, I got a call from a hospital that said my daughter was in a critical condition. I did not know how she ended up in the hospital. At that time, I had lost control over her totally.

"When I got there, I was told that she had appendicitis and that an emergency surgery must be conducted to save her life. We were asked to look for N368,000. I called her father who was abroad, to inform him of the case and we quickly paid the money.

"It was when I saw the surgical scar that I became alarmed and I started petting her and told her to tell me what was going on. That was when she said that the pastor had impregnated her and that what I thought was the removal of her appendicitis was indeed abortion.

"I wanted to faint. I quickly confronted the doctors at the hospital and they told me that she was brought in by Pastor Daniel, who prevailed on them to say it was appendicitis. They said she had lost a fallopian tube. They said they were only concerned about saving her life."

The hospital in question is High Rocks Hospital located on 8, Afariogun Street, Charity Area, Oshodi-Isolo.

However, the apprehensive Mrs. B., who could no longer handle the matter on her own, contacted the Child Protection Network in Oshodi, who took over the case.

The Coordinator of CPN in Isolo and Ejigbo, Mr. Ebenezer Omejalile, explained that further investigation on the case showed that Daniel's ministry was reputed as one dedicated to preying on both innocent girls and married women.

According to him, after the CPN took over the case and it was reported at Makinde Police Division, Oshodi, Daniel tried to turn the case against the victim's family and reported at the anti-kidnapping unit of the Lagos State Police Command that Mrs. B. colluded with some officers at the Makinde Police Division to kidnap him and force him to part with money.

"The pastor threatened the investigating police officer in charge of the case. He was so confident that nothing was going to happen on the matter. I realised that it was necessary for the Commissioner of Police to hear about the matter, so I wrote a petition to the CP on the matter.

"The woman called him 'father in the Lord' and trusted him with her daughter. Most shocking was the part that the girl had lost a fallopian tube. When we interrogated the girl further, we realised that the pastor had given her some drugs to abort the pregnancy, which led to the complications."

Omejalile said his petition to the Lagos CP was to explain why the case was not a kidnap case as claimed by Daniel, but one that bordered on gross s*xual abuse and child endangerment.

Meanwhile, to prevent further contact between the girl and Daniel, the girl's family took her away to the South-East to stay with her grandmother.

During her stay in their hometown, it was learnt that the family concluded that the pastor might have put the girl under a spell.

"She kept repeating that she wanted to have s*xual inter-course with Pastor Daniel. We did our best to break her from the curse," a family member said on condition of anonymity.

They did not divulge further steps taken to break her free from the purported spell.

However, after months on the case, Omejalile's petition to the Lagos CP finally yielded results on Tuesday, November 7. Daniel, who had been walking the streets as a free man since the case was reported at the Makinde Police Division, was invited at the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters. He was subsequently detained as investigation and interrogation went on.

At the police headquarters, the girl, who was brought back from the East to give a statement, made more startling revelations.

Omejalile, who was present at the time said, "The girl said that anytime they had s*x, he always recorded it. This is why we are worried at this point because we do not want such videos finding their way to the public. The girl said that he had a box in his room where he kept videos from different s*xual encounters. The police said they would go and search his room soon."

He explained that when they went to invite the pastor in company with policemen from the command headquarters, the girl was the one used as a bait.

Omejilale said, "We told her to put the phone on speaker and when the girl called him, he said he would like to see her and that he missed her. The girl said she could not come to his house but could meet him at work.

"The pastor works as a software engineer in a company at Oshodi. As soon as the girl got to his office, the pastor's colleagues started greeting her as 'Pastor Daniel's daughter'. It was clear they were familiar with her. He was then informed that he was wanted at the police headquarters. He thought he could escape by placing a call to the policemen at the anti-kidnapping unit, whom he had reported to earlier. But he was told that he was being invited at the police headquarters by higher authority."

It was learnt that while being questioned at the police headquarters, the girl revealed that Daniel took her on a flight to Abuja at a point.

Mrs. B was asked why she was not aware of all these and how her daughter could embark on such long journeys without her knowledge, but the distraught mother said it was part of the reasons why she said she lost control of her daughter.

The pastor is still being detained by the police.

Meanwhile, the CPN has said once the prosecution of Daniel was underway, it would begin efforts in ensuring that the doctor at High Rocks Hospital, who carried out the abortion was investigated.

When the reporter spoke with the head of the hospital, Dr. Femi Oloyede, an associate professor, he explained that the pastor brought the girl to his facility, claiming to be her guardian.

He said, "The man (Daniel) brought in the girl with ectopic pregnancy (development of foetus in fallopian tube) and we saved her. He said the girl was impregnated by her boyfriend. Our records are there to show what she was treated for. Who impregnated her was not the hospital's concern. I was summoned when she was brought in and noticed she was in a very bad shape. She had to be resuscitated. I then said there was nothing we could do if her parents were not present even if he was the guardian as he claimed.

"The pastor then contacted the mother and she came in. We told her what was wrong with her daughter immediately. When we told them to make a deposit so we conduct an urgent surgery, they declined saying they were taking her to their regular hospital.

"I wrote them a referral and they left. They later came back in the evening when the girl's situation had worsened. They had to beg me to come from home to attend to her. We did the operation and she took about three pints of blood within a space of three hours. She was bleeding inside. She was even on admission for some days after the surgery. If anything was ever in doubt, a responsible parent would have asked."

Oloyede said the age of the pregnancy could not be immediately determined but said he believed it must have been about six weeks old.

He also said there was no evidence that there had been an attempt to abort the pregnancy but that the victim's fallopian tube ruptured as a result of the ectopic pregnancy.

The doctor explained that he would be happy to assist the police in their investigation.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Olarinde Famous-Cole, who confirmed that Daniel was still in custody and being quizzed, said the doctor would be invited.
"The investigation will definitely involve the hospital. The pastor has made some confessional statements.
"Investigation is ongoing to determine where and when each of the alleged acts took place.Investigators would be conducting a search on the house of the pastor also."

4 arrested for booing Grace Mugabe | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 10 Nov 2017 10:14 AM PST

Four people were arrested on Friday for booing Zimbabwe's first lady Grace Mugabe while she was addressing a political rally.

"I can confirm the arrest of three adult males and a female," said Police Spokesman, Charity Charamba.  "The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe was the guest of honour at the rally and what they did was tantamount to undermining the authority of the president," he added.
The four allegedly shouted that they hate their president's wife and booed her when she was speaking in Bulowayo, on Saturday.

If convicted they could face a year in jail. There has been a crackdown on freedom of expression in the southern African nation in recent months, with a U.S. woman arrested for allegedly calling President Robert Mugabe "a goblin" in a tweet. Martha O'Donovan, 25, faces 20 years if convicted on charges of subversion.
