Posted: 09 Sep 2017 04:10 AM PDT 2006 Gulder Ultimate Search Winner, Hector Joberteh, was murdered by hired assassins a few days back, assassins who reportedly shot him at close range after tracing him from Murtala Mohammed International Airport where he had gone to pick up his younger brother, to his home at New Oko-Aba, Agege area of Lagos. A neighbour who spoke with LIB revealed the deceased's father was also shot in the hand and that Hector could have survived had he received timely medical attention. "It happened around 7.05 to 7.20am. I was preparing to go to church so I went to the bathroom to have my bath and I got to realize that my bathroom was dark so I decided to shift the curtain. So I saw two men walking. I poured water on my body and then I heard a gunshot. When I heard the gunshot I asked my friend in my room what the sound was. He said it wasn't in the compound. Then I continued having my bath. I had the second gunshot and I ran out of the bathroom. My Friend now said it was a robbery attack. Someone came in and told me that the men have taken my sister along. So I ran out but I realized that I was not putting on a towel. I ran back into my room to put on my boxers. I came out and met my sister outside. She is asthmatic. She was already having an attack. I was scared and I tried to calm her. She told me that they shot somebody upstairs. So I ran upstairs. Getting upstairs, we tried to rescue him (Hector). We brought him downstairs and rushed him to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, he wasn't dead. He had no quick response. They shot him and his father. He was shot on his right chest while his father was shot in his hand. He wasn't dead before we got to the hospital but he never had a quick response. So that was when he gave up". Continuing, the neighbor said "The police at Oko Oba division responded immediately when they heard of the incident but it was late already when they came. We were preparing to take him to the morgue when they came". culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Politics | APC NWC To Meet Over Madam Alhassan, Atiku Posted: 09 Sep 2017 04:02 AM PDT There are strong indications that the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress will meet on Monday to discuss statements credited to the Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan, as regards the 2019 presidential election. Besides discussing the minister's declaration of support for former VP Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambition, the NWC would also deliberate on a statement credited to Atiku himself. Alhassan had, in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Wednesday, said she was ready to support the former vice-president against President Muhammadu Buhari if they both choose to run for the 2019 presidential election. She also said she respected Buhari, but Atiku remained her godfather. Alhassan, in the interview, also confirmed her statements in a leaked video, where she endorsed the former vice-president in a private meeting with him. Atiku, had on the Hausa Service of Voice of America, said that the APC sidelined him after helping it to win the 2015 elections. It was learnt that the National Working Committee would deliberate on these issues in Abuja on Monday with a view to resolving them. This development was confirmed by the APC National Vice Chairman, North-East, Mustapha Salihu, in a telephone interview with Punch in Abuja on Friday. He explained that the issue at stake was a national one, which the party's NWC would look into. He stated, "This is a national issue. I think by Monday, we will sit and we will address the matter, but I can assure you that there is no cause for alarm. Our party is intact and on ground." …I stand by what I said – Atiku In response, Atiku who spoke through the Head of the Atiku Media Office, Mazi Paul Ibe, said he stood by what he said. Ibe said, "His Excellency, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stands by what he said. There is no point beating about the bush, how can anyone equate a private meeting with a meeting of party organs? "When was the last time the party organs held any meeting? Has the Board of Trustees or what they call the Elders' Council been inaugurated? When was the last time stakeholders and party leaders invited him to a meeting? The Wazirin Adamawa spoke as a lover of this country, democracy and the party. "People who are not too conversant with history as far as democracy is concerned in this country may cast aspersions on the former Vice- President for stating the obvious. The party should do the needful." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

61yrs Old Grandfather Arrested for Robbery After Spending 21 Years in Jail Posted: 09 Sep 2017 02:32 AM PDT Sadly, Nigeria remains a country without any proper social security, yet our political leaders who get millions of Naira every month as salary and allowances are happy to send the poor to prison. When people waste away in prison for several years and come out, what do you expect them to do to feed? Who will employ them? Looks like we are running a country without conscience. Sigh! A 61-year-old ex-convict allegedly involved in armed robbery, car snatching, etc, was on Friday again paraded alongside 11 others by operatives of the Nigeria Police in Ondo State. Speaking while parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Gbenga Adeyanju, said the 61-year-old Ajibola Aliu, was recently granted amnesty by the Osun State judiciary at the Ilesa Maximum Prison after spending 21 years in jail for armed robbery. According to PT, the Police boss said Aliu, a driver, was a member of a gang terrorising citizens within the state and its environs adding that guns, charms and other valuable items were recovered from the suspects. Those paraded include five armed robbery suspects, four cultists and two others who specialise in motorcycle snatching at gun point. - create a proper social security that can take care of some of these people and crime rate will drop. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
How Some Ladies Are Causing Problems For Themselves With Discontentment Posted: 09 Sep 2017 01:57 AM PDT To be "discontent" means to be "dissatisfied with one's circumstances." It's such a simple little word with such a simple little definition. But I think the definition for this word is deceitful. Discontentment is so much more than this simple definition suggests. The fact is, discontentment ruins friendships, marriages, and lives. And while I don't like making blanket assumptions, and I know I can't speak for everyone, I believe that (for the most part) this is one of Satan's most powerful weapons against women, in particular. You see, I think the Father of Lies and Deceit has a way of taking this simple little word and turning it into a HUMONGOUS problem. The simplicity of it is what makes it so easy for him to use discontentment against us. It always starts out so small, doesn't it? Maybe your job took a pay cut and you had to downsize, maybe your husband took a promotion but it's in another city, maybe your toddler decided to become Pablo Picasso all over your brand new cream-colored sofa cushions. The seed is planted, and now you are not content with your life as it is. You want a new sofa, or a new job, or a new car. The Power of Discontentment Your husband comes home from work one too many times and doesn't bother to ask you how your day was, so you start feeling discontent in your marriage. You sit and watch as your friends get married until you're the only one left and you start to feel a little bit like Katherine Heigl in that movie about the bridesmaids dresses, only there's no James Marsden ready to swoop into your life and give you the romance you've been craving. You cry in your bathroom every month when you realize you still aren't pregnant. All of these things are devastating to varying degrees. All of them are worthy of your sorrow and concern. No one expects you to be happy when you are not. But we have to be on our guard, because Satan knows what we want and he knows when we don't get it. He knows when we aren't satisfied with our lives as they are. He uses those tiny grains of discontent and he irritates us with them over and over until you've got a clam/pearl situation and that tiny grain of discontent is all the sudden the size of a Volkswagen. He irritates us with it until it's the only thing in our lives we can focus on; until everything else no longer matters. This is when our discontentment becomes dangerous. This is when it is capable of destroying us. 1. Discontent causes your life to never be settled. Regardless of where you are in your life, discontent is a poison that makes you believe your life isn't enough as it is. It makes you feel like you have to keep reaching; keep searching; keep running after whatever that elusive thing is that will all the sudden make everything better. You can never just stop and rest because you are too busy searching and chasing. This isn't me telling you that you should never chase your dreams. By all means, go after what you want. Just be aware that discontentment is there, it's hiding in the corner, and if you aren't careful it will take over. If it takes over then you will always be looking for something better, you will always be moving, alwaysbe changing, and you will never give yourself an opportunity to just sit back and enjoy the life you have right now. You will be too focused on what could be, but isn't, and you will look into the future so much that you forget there is a present. 2. Discontentment can ruin your marriage and/or relationships. One of the most dangerous things for a marriage is discontent. A woman who is discontent with her marriage looks at her husband and is constantly disappointed. She married this man for who she hoped he could become someday instead of who he is right now and she is always disappointed when he doesn't live up to her expectations. Or maybe she no longer sees any evidence of the man she married and she wonders what happened to the spark? Discontentment causes us to forget that humans are fallible; that we are not perfect and neither are our husbands. At best, it causes dissention and at worst it least to that constant searching for something better — a search that could potentially end with you in an inappropriate relationship with another man. All this because discontent forces us to focus on what could be instead of what is. 3. Discontentment can lead to low self worth. If you aren't satisfied with your life then it makes sense that you could blame yourself. Blaming yourself and constantly looking down on yourself is a good way to forget your worth. You were created by a God who "knit [you] together in [your] mother's womb," a God who is worthy to be praised. God sees your worth. He believed you were worth creating and he believed you were worth dying for. A low sense of self worth is not in his plan for you and it never will be. Depression and self loathing are just the tip of the iceberg, and discontentment will never provide you the relief it promises. 4. Being discontent is essentially telling God that you don't trust him. I completely understand how it is next to impossible to avoid all feelings of discontentment. But one thing that we can do is to catch ourselves when we have those thoughts; the thoughts that sneak into our minds when we aren't paying attention. The ones that say, "What if?" or, "This is fine and all...but…" The truth is that it is hard to trust God 100% with our lives. It's so crazy difficult to just "let go and let God." Actually, I've always hated that saying, mostly because I always wanted to scream back, "OK, but what in the name of all that is holy do you mean?!" I don't know that I know what it looks like to truly give my life into God's hands. I don't know what it means to allow myself to lose control. I don't like losing control. Losing control gives me vertigo. It makes me feel like everything in the world is wrong and nothing will be right until I have everything figured out again. Unfortunately, life doesn't always work within our control. When we are not content with our circumstances, we need to recognize exactly what we're doing. We need to just go ahead and voice to God the truth in our hearts, "I'm not satisfied with what you've given me right now. I don't trust that this is your plan for me. I'm afraid that you've got it all wrong." You are allowed to feel that way. You are allowed to be upset about your circumstances, but the most dangerous thing you could do is ignore the way you feel and refuse to acknowledge that you are not content. The first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one, and even though it feels awkward and wrong, sometimes the best thing you can do is tell God that you aren't happy with the way he's handling things. It doesn't mean you're right, but it makes you honest, and I'm a firm believer in the idea that God likes it when we're honest. Once you are honest with God, that's when he starts a work in your heart. 5. If you demand control of your life long enough, God will give it to you. I've said this already, but I like being in control. The problem with that is that I know that when it comes to me being in control or God being in control - it's much better for me if God is in control. We have free will, and free will means that if we persist long enough, God gives us what we want. Usually, it doesn't take us long after that to figure out that we didn't really want it. If you want control of your life badly enough — if you fight for it hard enough — God will give it to you. Maybe that sounds like a sweet deal, but it's not. 6. Discontentment hardly goes away. This is Satan's foothold into women's lives. It's so easy for us to become discontent. And even when we recognize it and acknowledge it and pray about it and fix it, it ALWAYS comes back. It never goes away. This is not a one and done deal. It's constant. It's continuous. We can never let our guard down because the minute we do; the minute we think we're in the clear; it will rear it's ugly head again and we will be unhappy, unsatisfied, and unfulfilled in our lives. We will be ripe for Satan's interference and he will devour us. This problem never goes away. We always have to be on alert. Always. This is what God meant when he said to guard your heart. So, guard it. Guard it with everything you have. When you start to feel the small twinges of discontent, acknowledge it. Don't bury it or ignore it. Bring it straight to God. Don't let it fester. Satan wins when it festers. Don't use it as a weapon against your husband or your friends or your family. Don't hold onto it like a precious jewel or a talisman. Take it to God. Leave your life at his feet, throw your hands in the air and say, "I GIVE UP! Take my life! Please! I don't know what to do with it anymore." God thrives on our desperation for him. Satan hates it. So, turn your discontent into desperation, and turn the tables on Satan's most potent weapon against you. 4 Interesting Things African Parents Do Posted: 09 Sep 2017 01:27 AM PDT African parents are gifts that keep up on giving – they are loving, they are tough, they are inspiring and can sometimes drive you crazy (then again, all parents, regardless of race or ethnicity, are all guilty of this), but we can't deny that they are the absolute best... Jumia Travel shares 4 interesting things African parents do. Calling Their Children From Far Away To Hand Them Things Less Than a Meter Away Okay that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it's not uncommon for African parents to ask their children to do things they can easily do themselves, or send their children on errands they can easily go on themselves. They argue that the point of this is to teach their children duty and responsibility, and considering how resourceful African children eventually become, African parents just might be onto something. Prohibiting Children From Calling Elders By Their First Names In African homes, it is considered disrespectful for children to call an elder by their first name, and African parents are zealous in ensuring such disrespect does not occur in their homes. It is more appropriate for children to address elders as 'uncle' or 'aunty' (though the children might have no familial ties or relation with the person). In less Afrocentric homes, the children are allowed to address elders with 'mr', 'miss', 'mrs', 'sir', 'ma' or 'madam' in addition to their actual names, but never with just their names. Speaking To Their Children in Proverbs and Metaphors This is done often by African parents when they are upset or dissatisfied with the actions of their child/children. African parents use the proverbs and/or metaphors to better drive home their point to their children, and ring a note of warning and/or caution. If an African parent speaks to their child/children with a proverb and/or metaphor, they mean business and it's definitely not something to be taken lightly. They Seldom Admit They Are Wrong For some reason, African parents seldom admit they are wrong. They might acknowledge they have erred through their actions, but they will hardly ever verbalize it or apologize for it. It is difficult to understand, but some argue that it might have something to do with the fact that they believe that admitting their faults and verbally apologizing to their children will put the respect the children have for them at risk, and humanize them to the point of possibly losing the respect of their children. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Man turns imbecile after impregnating daughter twice | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 09 Sep 2017 01:08 AM PDT It was a tragic story that started much earlier, when, John Oyewo, the 67-year-old resident of Manfile community in Upper Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin in South Local Government Area of Kwara State, and formerly married to one Yetunde, separated from her to marry another woman, by name, Feyisayo, in 1992. Between Yetunde and John, they had a girl, Esther. Then 15, she would go to stay with her dad, and her new wife, now her stepmother who was a businesswoman and was often away from home. One thing led to another and in the course of the visits, an illicit love affair started between father and daughter. How it started She recalled the genesis of the sordid affair. "My father came home one night. I was fast asleep when she woke me up and asked if I had had my bath. I said no. Then he asked me to bathe with him and I joined him innocently. While in the bathroom, he started touching my sensitive parts. Irritated, I Initially I resisted him but when I could no longer hold it I became aroused and responded to his touching. We had it right there in the bathroom. Later, it became a constant thing. I was afraid but because I had nowhere to go, I endured it." The incestuous relationship resulted in Esther's first pregnancy. She later gave birth to a child who died shortly after birth under mysterious circumstance. Still the shameful affair continued. The innocent girl got pregnant for her dad the second time and had another child who they christened Oreoluwa. Reward of sacrilege This time around family and relations felt that they had had enough of this nonsense and sent father and daughter packing from their midst by way of communal ex-communication. That was how the duo left the family house to settle in their present abode at Manfile area in Upper Gaa Akanbi. But while there, the second child who was hale and hearty and had started walking about, suddenly took ill and died. As if that was not enough ordeal, the father became afflicted with imbecility and left home never to be seen again, till today. As you read this, only God knows where he is. To compound it all, Esther, now 39, has been afflicted with a strange illness the nature of which she would not want the public to know. But a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) is assisting her, she said. In tears, she said to Saturday Sun: "I thought what I was doing then was right not knowing I have committed a great crime that has ruined my life."Experts, clerics speak Experts reveal that indulging in incest can have disastrous psychological effect on those involved. Stephen Oni, a psychologist, warns that, "fathers of any incestuous relationship can have psychopathic personalities" while "children born out of incest might start experiencing emotional shutdown when they reach adulthood and this could result in schizophrenia or multiple personality disorders." Imam Abubakre Kamal, an Islamic cleric in Ilorin, recommends death sentence for anybody who engages in it. "Any father who commits incest should be killed," he said. "If they are killed, it will serve as a warning to others. In Saudi Arabia, for instance, if such crime is committed, it is outright death." Saturday Sun culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Friends desert celebrity woman, Bola Shagaya | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 09 Sep 2017 01:08 AM PDT This is a very troubling time for former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan's friend, Bola Shagaya. The stylish billionaire woman is facing a tough battle with the anti-graft agency, EFCC, over allegations of her alleged involvement in some financial transactions. Right now, her billions domiciled in one of Nigeria's new generation banks is under lock and keys. She has been denied access to the funds in the account. While she is trying to seek help through the courts, the latest news according to privileged sources is that Bola Shagaya is alone during this trying times. Vanguard gathered that some of her close friends have allegedly deserted her. The reasons for this unpleasant turn of event in her circle of friends is the fear of prosecution by EFCC. Most of her friends are afraid that in the course of investigations, the EFCC might turn the beam on them too. And they have tactically avoided her company. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

OAU union clash: I defended myself with broken bottle to avoid rape – SUG VP | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 09 Sep 2017 12:38 AM PDT The Vice President of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Students' Union, Tosin Jacob, says she resorted to using a broken bottle to defend herself during a clash over N3.8m because she feared she might be sexually attacked. The clash occurred during a meeting on the utilisation of N3.8m recently disbursed to the union by the school management. Jacob, popularly called Emerald on campus, explained that she was scared of being mobbed or gang-raped, alleging that she had earlier been threatened sexually and physically. According to her, she had initially attempted to escape from the meeting in which the clash occurred but that the exits were blocked against her. It would be recalled that Jacob and the Social Director of the union, Adedayo Emmanuel, had engaged in a bloody clash on Tuesday evening. While Emmanuel, popularly known as Lamba sustained a minor injury, Jacob is currently admitted at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Ile-Ife, after being allegedly head-butted by Emmanuel. She shared her story on hospital bed on Friday, lamenting that other members of the union executives connived against her over her stand against financial mismanagement. Jacob, who complained that she was molested and assaulted in the meeting, noted that she might have suffered more injuries without self-defence. She said, "There was a gang-up. I was detained against my will, taunted, overpowered and severely beaten by Emmanuel in the presence of the president, Ibukun Oyekan, and other union executives. It would be recalled that the union executives earlier been accused of misappropriation when it used a previous disbursement of N3m in June to purchase a bus, that was said to be worth N900,000.
