TRAGIC! Huge Earthquake Hits Buildings In Mexico, Killing Over 200 Posted: 20 Sep 2017 04:04 AM PDT An earthquake has struck central Mexico, killing at least 226 people and toppling dozens of buildings in the capital, Mexico City. President Enrique Peña Nieto said more than 20 children had died and 30 were missing after a school collapsed following in the unfortunate incident. The 7.1 magnitude quake also caused major damage in neighbouring states. The tremor struck while many people took part in an earthquake drill exactly 32 years after a quake killed thousands in Mexico City. The country is prone to earthquakes and earlier this month an 8.1 magnitude tremor in the south left at least 90 dead. The epicentre of the latest quake was near Atencingo in Puebla state, about 120km from Mexico City, with a depth of 51km, the US Geological Survey said. The death toll of 226 was confirmed on Twitter by the country's national co-ordinator for civil protection. It includes at least 55 people killed in Morelos state, south of the capital, and 39 reported killed in Puebla state. One hundred and seventeen are also confirmed dead in Mexico City, with another 12 in Mexico State, and three dead in Guerrero. About two million people in the capital were without electricity and phone lines were down. Officials also warned residents not to smoke on the streets as gas mains could have been ruptured. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Again Customs Impounds 475 Rifles At Lagos Tin Can Port Posted: 20 Sep 2017 04:04 AM PDT Who is trying to turn Nigeria into a gun society? Barely a week after it intercepted a 20-foot container load of 1,100 pump action rifles, the Tin Can Island Command of Nigeria Customs Service on Monday uncovered yet another set of 475 rifles shipped in by the same importer. 1,100 Jojef Magnum Pump Action and Jojef Magnum Plastic Single Barrels Hunting Gun Pump Action Rifles seized by Customs at Lagos Tin-Can Vanguard gathered that the guns were discovered after the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Bashir Yussuf, ordered a detailed profiling of the importer of the 1,100 rifles intercepted last week. The container belonging to the same importer. This is the fourth seizure within 8 months. Recall that Customs arrested four persons but disclosed only two to the press. One of those arrested is said to be a senior staff of Tin Can Island Container Terminal, TICT. A source, who witnessed the examination of the container, told Vanguard that the rifles were concealed with small connecting pipes. The source said: "The container is owned by the same importer of the 1,100 guns. After a detailed profiling of the importer ordered by the Area Controller, it was discovered that he still has another container inside the port; so they fished it out. "But I don't know why they are hiding the identity of the importer.. It could even be the government themselves importing these weapons." At press time yesterday, the container was being examined at the enforcement unit of Customs. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Two lesbian pastors wed(Photos) | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Sep 2017 04:03 AM PDT Two lesbian pastors have solidified their union in church. Pastor Twanna Gause, dressed in an off-white wedding gown and veil ,stepped out of a limousine amid the whir of cameras outside the New Vision Full Gospel Baptist Church in East Orange, N.J. Her partner, Pastor Vanessa Brown, who stood waiting at the altar in a cream-colored long coat . Thy were led by Bishops Levi Richards and Eugene Gathers, both of the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries. "She's our spiritual daughter," Bishop Richards said. Both men walked Ms. Gause down the aisle, a role she had initially hoped would be accepted by her father, the Rev. Sam Gause Sr., a Pentecostal minister who lives in Atlanta. But Mr. Gause, citing "differences in theological beliefs," refused his daughter's invitation. "My father would not come here because he does not believe in same-sex marriage," Ms. Gause said. "He told me the devil tricked me into this, and that if we had been married in biblical times, we would have been stoned to death."When contacted by the New York Times, he said "Twanna very well knows I'm not for that kind of lifestyle," he said by phone in a calm and stern tone several days after the wedding. "I believe that God wanted us to procreate through a natural process, and by no means am I happy about this because it is unnatural," he said. "I look at homosexuality as a mental disorder. If I start to tell you that I am an elephant, and start to behave as an elephant, that's my choice, I choose to become an elephant. But you would probably choose to call a mental institution." Mr. Gause, long affiliated with the Center of Hope Church of God in Christ in Riverdale, Ga., said he had no immediate plans to contact his daughter. He was also disappointed her mother, his ex-wife attended the wedding "I will talk to her at some point, I suppose, if she calls me, but I will not initiate the call," he said. "I do have some words for her that she needs to hear. I'm not going to condemn her or judge her because I don't have that authority, but judgment has already been established by God."When asked about Mr. Gause's absence at the wedding reception, an elegant affair at il Tulipano in Cedar Grove, N.J., Bishop Richards said simply: "God has a way of honoring us when others won't." Mary Ellen Brown, did not mince words when talking about her ex-husband's refusal to attend. "He has no right to judge them," she said. "I tried to get him to come here tonight but it was a losing battle. He asked me why I would even bother showing up, and I said to him, 'All you need to remember is that Twanna is my daughter, and I love her, and I have her back no matter what she does, and that's why I'll be there.'" culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Woman Cries Out: "Nigeria Police Killed My Husband" Posted: 20 Sep 2017 03:29 AM PDT The wife of a private security firm owner, Gladys Kelikuma, has accused the police of being behind the murder of her husband, Ernest Kelikuma. 60-year-old Kelikuma, a father of 10 children and a native of Ewechi-Onicha-Ukwuani in Ndokwa West area of Delta State, was allegedly murdered after he received a call from an investigating police officer over the arrest of an armed robber by his private security outfit. The wife said the incident occurred on August 31, at Fegge Police Station at about 6.30pm, adding that the remains of her husband were deposited at Boromi Hospital, Onitsha by the police. According to Punch, Kelikwuma's security firm - Ambassador Security Service & Co. Ltd - located at No 52, Old market road, Onitsha in Anambra State, had apprehended an armed robber, who was trying to break into a house in Fegge town and recovered the robber's gun. The wife of the deceased, who spoke to Punch in Asaba, maintained that the spirit of her husband would not rest until his killers were brought to book. She said, "My husband left the house full of life on that day after receiving a call from the police and never returned home. All they are telling us is that Ernest killed himself while trying to dislodge the gun found with the robber." The son of the deceased, Chidubem Kelikwuma, narrated that: "On 31st August, my father and I were eating in the house when he received a call from Fegge Police Station on his MTN line at about 4.45pm. "He immediately left the food and told me that his attention was needed at the police divisional headquarters and requested that I should go with him to the station, but I told him that I was tired and needed to rest. "He left the house with the promise to return very soon, but we never saw him again. The next day, my mother told me that she received a call from the security adviser to my father requesting that she should come to the police station. "The gun that the police claimed killed my father was the exhibit which my father's security personnel, Emmanuel Akpan, handed over to the police after apprehending the armed robber." When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Nkiruka Nwode, said she was not aware of the incident, but promised to call back. The state police spokesperson, however, did not call back as promised as of the time of reporting. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
CAN raises alarm: Sukuk bond part of strategies to islamise Nigeria Posted: 20 Sep 2017 03:29 AM PDT The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has opposed the floating of Sukuk Islamic bond by Federal Government, alleging it is meant to Islamise the country through the back door. CAN, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by its General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake, demanded the abrogation of the laws behind the bond and threatened to seek legal redress if that was not done. The group said FG was trying to sell the nation to Arab countries through the Sukuk Bond, arguing that the government was pursuing an Islamisation agenda. According to the Christian body, Nigeria is a secular state and the government is expected to be neutral on issues involving religion. It argued that the promotion of a sectional religious financial policy was a violation of the Constitution. It said, "The Christian Association of Nigeria has been protesting against this aberration since the Osun State Government, under Governor Rafiu Aregbesola, embarked on this violation of the Constitution. "Rather than stand in the defence of the constitution, it is disappointing to note that the Federal Government is pursuing what is an outright confirmation of an Islamisation agenda. "The recent floating of Sukkuk Bond by the government is not only sectional but illegal and a violation of the Constitution. Every law that has been promulgated to back the Sukuk issuance and promote an Islamic banking system in Nigeria is ultra vires, illegal, null and void." CAN said there was never a time Nigeria held a referendum or convened a Constituent Assembly that passed a resolution that the nation had transmute into an Islamic State. "Therefore, the manipulations and scheming to smuggle the country into a full blown Islamic state should stop; these manipulations became apparent with the smuggling of Nigeria into the Organisation of Islamic Conference in 1986 by the Ibrahim Babangida military junta," Asake said. CAN added that the International Monetary Fund had stated that the issuance of Sukuk by non-Islamic countries was a breach of the religious neutrality of the government of such states. "The FG must dismantle all legal and institutional framework established to promote Islamic financing in Nigeria. "We affirm that the territorial integrity of Nigeria is undermined through the issuance of Sukuk in the country. We hope that the government shall desist from its policies of unbridled religious sectionalism," CAN said. Government's reaction: The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the financial initiative was borne out of the need to include people who are opposed to interest-yielding enterprises. He said, "Sukuk is not an attempt to Islamise Nigeria in any form. On the contrary, it is an attempt at financial inclusiveness. The difference between Sukuk Bond and other bonds is that if you invest in Sukkuk bond, you earn no interest. "So, the scheme appeals to many people who don't believe that money should gather interest. They, however, engage in profit sharing in the sense that if the government makes a profit from the bond, they give the investor a part of it but if the government makes no profit, the investor is not entitled to anything." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Mother Catches Nanny On Camera Assaulting Her Baby Posted: 20 Sep 2017 03:04 AM PDT Don't just keep your child in care of someone, unless you are sure the person is actually willing. A woman, Annemarie Theron, could not sleep, eat or concentrate on anything after she caught her child's nanny on camera treating the child like a rag doll. The Namibian nanny is now facing charges of child abuse, assault, and attempted murder after The mum reported her to the authorities with the video evidence. The mother saw her nine-month-old daughter, Laila, being manhandled by her nanny in the secretly filmed footage. "It was very emotional watching it. I refused to sleep, eat or drink for a couple of days afterwards. It's difficult to imagine how long this has been going on. I can see Laila is so, so broken after everything," Theron told Network24. Theron said she noticed bruises on Laila's neck and shoulders and suspected all was not well. "After that I sat at work, thinking about my daughter the entire day. That's when I decided to install cameras so that I could see what was happening when I'm not at home." She was shocked after watching the footage, and immediately laid a charge at the police station. "It was quite a process, as I had to confirm with a mediator what it would mean if I made the recordings without her (the nanny's) knowledge. The police were initially hesitant about the charges, but wanted to arrest the woman immediately after seeing the footage." The nanny appeared in court on Monday. The state added the charge of attempted murder. Laila is currently attending a kindergarten during the day. The mum added, It was comforting to see how many people supported us. Thanks to everyone, family, friends, and strangers, it means a great deal." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Jonathan, FG disagree on proposed S’west, S’south military operations Posted: 20 Sep 2017 03:04 AM PDT The Federal Government and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan have disagreed on the planned military operation in the South-South and the South-West code-named Operation Crocodile Smile. Jonathan, who spoke on Tuesday, said it's an anomaly for soldiers to be deployed for internal security, a responsibility that is meant for the police, saying the deployment of troops internally was to intimidate the citizens. But the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, countered Jonathan, arguing that under the past administration, headed by Jonathan, soldiers were deployed in Onitsha, where 16 persons were reportedly killed. Jonathan criticised his successor, President Muhammadu Buhari, for planning to extend the military show of force to the South-South and the South-West. Jonathan said this in a post on Tuesday which was signed on his behalf by his aide, Reno Omokri. Jonathan stated, "However, we want to advise the Buhari administration, which has announced plans to extend the military show of force to the South-South and the South-West through Operation Crocodile Smile, to thread with caution. "Nigeria is no longer under military rule. In a democracy, you separate the military from the police. The military is not meant to fight criminality within a nation because they are trained to fight a nation's external enemies. "It is the police that are trained to fight crime internally. When the military starts doing the job of the police and starts fighting or doing what they call a 'show of force', the effect will not be to reduce crime. The effect will be to intimidate people." Jonathan also slammed Lai Mohammed, for saying the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra started because of the change of administration in 2015. The ex-President said, "The insinuations in the press conference given by Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, accusing the opposition of sponsoring the IPOB and the fact that he mentioned that Nnamdi Kanu preached Nigerian unity during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan is another clear indication that the present administration has not left propaganda mode for proper agenda mode two and a half years into its tenure. "If the government, in which Lai Mohammed serves, knows which opposition members are sponsoring IPOB, then it should identify them, arrest them and then prosecute them." Jonathan wondered if Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is a member of APC, could be said to be a sponsor of IPOB since he had come out to say the proscription of the group was illegal. While commending South-East governors for their efforts in restoring peace, Jonathan said Lai had no moral right to cast aspersions as he had once criticised him for declaring Boko Haram terrorists. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Meet Brilliant Fasasi Tosin Oladayo, An Inventor; he already has 4 patents Posted: 20 Sep 2017 01:59 AM PDT Fasasi Tosin Oladayo is a 3rd year Aerospace engineering student. He currently own 4 patents and he is also the founder of Nigeria biggest telecommunication equipment company Demfas Aerosystems. His firm, Demfas Aerosystems is a manufacturer of radio transmitting and receiving equipment based in Nigeria. Their devices offers encrypted communication, GPS mapping and others. As shared by OYO4Sure: After a brief discussion with him, I was able to go through some of his patent certificate. Being curious on his course of study and his projects, I asked why he isn't doing anything related to his course and he immediately brought out his laptop opening through numerous folders showing some simulations, CAD diagrams and some technical details on the drone his company is working on. I asked if he is going to manufacture all these parts himself and how viable is his vision of producing an unmanned aerial vehicle of such standard here locally and he said: "I'm purchasing the engine and am having a transfer of technology to be able to locally produce a ground control system. You see this folders (points at some folders in his laptop) they are filled with technical details on most communications aspects. Those are things am capable of doing with the help of a great team." He said I just need some funding and trust me everyone will be shocked to this in Nigeria. Basically, I just want you to know that all components are being covered by my patents, my designs, circuit and whatever. I made sure all inventions in all of my products are being covered with patents. Being curious on how he has been able to fund his projects to this level, he replied in confidence again, "I have a company generating revenue so I'm able to do something from my sales while also building up a brand." He belongs to some foreign organizations and currently working on. His company is a revenue generating company, has overt 400 units of his products used by consumers in foreign countries such as USA, Germany and Pakistan. 3 Types Of Tests God Allows For Christians Posted: 20 Sep 2017 01:59 AM PDT Tests are not for the sake of the teacher, but for the benefit of the student. As a teacher, I don't ask test questions because I need to know the answers. I ask questions because my students need to know the answers. Likewise, God ordains tests for us, not for his sake, but for ours. He ordains tests today just as he did in the Old Testament with the testing of his people, and in the New Testament with the testing of the disciples. From those who have gone before us, we find several reasons for tests in Scripture... And knowing that tests are purposeful, we can rest, understanding that the Master is fully in control of both the test and the outcome. Diagnostic Tests I remember seeing the eyes of the people around me for the first time in elementary school once I got glasses. I didn't know I couldn't see until I took a vision test in fourth grade. My eyesight had gradually weakened, until I thought that blurry faces and faint lines on the chalkboard were normal. That simple diagnostic test revealed an issue I never knew existed. Just as medical tests reveal our health conditions, God tests us to reveal our spiritual condition, as he did for Israel: And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. (Deuteronomy 8:2) Their forty-year test in the wilderness revealed just how easily the Israelites could forget the God who brought them out of Egypt. Likewise, our tests may reveal just how easily we fall back into old patterns of: Gossip Complaining Laziness Lust Pride Anger Selfishness God tells us that he never tempts us to sin (see James 1:13). The tests we face are not designed to lead us to sin; rather, they reveal the sin that already lurks in our hearts, ready to show itself at any opportunity. The next time you're put to the test — whether it's conflict with a loved one, bad news, or horrible traffic — and react in an ungodly way, remember that God ordains some tests to "know what was in your heart." This is his grace — to reveal our need of him more clearly, and we throw ourselves on his mercy. Educational Tests I hate exams as much as my students do. Like all teachers, however, I know that without the pressure of a quiz or exam, my students are not likely to learn the necessary lessons. The disciples faced an educational test when they found themselves in the midst of an unexpected storm: And when [Jesus] got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. (Matthew 8:23-26) Jesus' followers included several experienced fishermen, and if they were frightened, then the situation must have been alarming. They saw the looming waves, but they failed to see the test of faith. They could have passed the test had they remembered that the one who created the storms was with them in the boat. Instead, they were met with Christ's words: "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" We face similar educational tests when the unexpected financial crisis hits, the frightening diagnosis is delivered, or a heartbreaking betrayal is revealed. In all cases, Christ is the perfect teacher, and he can be trusted to prepare and carry us through the crisis. If, like the disciples, we fail the test, we can also trust Christ to handle the storm, bringing us through by his grace to the other side. Certification Tests Sometimes tests are necessary to demonstrate that a candidate is certified in a particular field. We take driving tests, college entrance exams, professional licensing exams, and more. In all cases, standards are set, questions are asked, and the answers are evaluated by experts who determine whether candidates pass or fail. Likewise, God knows those who love him. He is patient, "not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). However, a day is coming when he will test the minds and hearts and determine whether we are righteous or wicked: Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may you establish the righteous—you who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God! (Psalm 7:9) On our own merit, the test of righteousness is impossible to pass. But thank God he provided a way when he sent Jesus to die for our sins, including all our failed tests. Christ willingly traded places with us, signing himself up, enduring, and finally passing the most eternally-significant test, so we could be named among the righteous: For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Trust in the Testing Not all tests are designed with the same purpose (and some we may never grasp in this life). But we do know this: God is good. And the clearest demonstration of his goodness was at the cross. In the face of every test, we can remember Romans 8:32: "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?" I Don't Know How Many People Have Died Due to My Drugs – Fake Doctor Posted: 20 Sep 2017 01:34 AM PDT A 42-year old fake doctor, John Anopuem said he gave drugs to patients without prescription as such he could not say the number of the patients that may have died in the process of using those drugs. The suspect also confessed that he administered drugs through guess work. Sometimes it worked and at other times it didn't. The Orlu Imo State-born was arrested and paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgar at Ikeja, Lagos. It was gathered that the suspect was arrested at his store located at Seriki Aro Street in Ikeja where the police also recovered some suspicious drugs as exhibits. Some of the drugs recovered from the suspects include Emzolin, Tuxils, Codeine and many others. Parading the suspect with other criminals, Edgar said it was one of the efforts the police was making to make the state crime free that led to the arrest of the suspect. Edgar thanked the public for partnering with the police on his new police policy to combat crime in the state. He promised that the police will continue to put up their best and work with the public so that the criminal elements will have no hiding place in the society. While speaking to journalists, the suspect said, "It was a mistake I made and I could not say it was not harmful and I cannot confirm the number of the patients that may have died as a result of wrong prescription of the drugs." He said if given another opportunity, he would not do such and hoped he will settle the matter. But CP Edgar said the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
5 Helpful Business Tricks For Small Business Owners Posted: 20 Sep 2017 12:59 AM PDT It's unfortunate that a lot of small businesses don't survive beyond the first few years of their existence, but this mainly happens due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of what needs to be done to help sustain a small business. Jumia Travel shares 5 helpful business tricks that small businesses can profit from. Remain Abreast of Your Cash Flow This is very important, especially for small businesses. It is important to have a good and accurate idea of the daily, weekly and monthly financial needs and trends of your organization, and to also keep informed of your current cash flow. When you have a good idea of your financial situation at every point, it makes you financially prudent in your business decisions, which help to improve your sustainability as a business. Set Business Goals This can come in form of targets which ultimately help achieve business goals. The fact is, small businesses need to work with targets if they intend to remain in business in the long run. Setting goals and objectives and developing targets to help meet goals and objectives is essential for business success, because it serve as a 'planning tool' that help keep your business focused, and ultimately helps to move your business forward. Learn How to Use Low Budget High Impact Marketing Small businesses cannot afford to waste money on ineffective marketing, so as a small business, if you must spend on marketing, you need to ensure that what you are spending on will have the needed impact. One way to do this is by testing marketing tactics for effectiveness before adding them to your campaign or marketing mix. Also, be sure to invest in low budget marketing options like social media and content marketing. Monitor Business Trends For some reason a good number of small businesses fail to do this. No business operates in a vacuum, and small businesses need to be particularly sensitive to business or industry trends because they bear the brunt of even the slightest change in these trends. It is important for small businesses to remain current on trends and issues happening in their industry and local community, and if possible, go a step further to predict possible future trends likely to occur. This way, it is easier to develop a response or reaction plan to quickly adjust to the changes before they negatively affect the business (if large corporations are doing this, it only means small businesses need to do this even more if they want to survive). Motivate Your Staff As a growing small business, you need your staff to remain motivated and ready to give their best to the growth of your firm. You might not have the resources to keep your staff happy in monetary terms, but you can figure out other incentives to help keep them motivated and encourage higher levels of performance. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
How To Be A Godly Leader — Even When It’s Hard Posted: 20 Sep 2017 12:34 AM PDT When you think of the word leader, images of a person in a formal position of authority might come to mind. It's easy to think of a government official or an executive in a company as a leader. The truth is we're all either current leaders, or we have the capacity to lead in some area of our lives. Leading others in a positive, productive direction is a huge responsibility, but don't let that scare you. God has given you gifts and talents and placed tools in your life to help you lead effectively. That's the good news. It becomes more challenging as a leader when you're attempting to be impactful while managing the obstacles that will inevitably come your way. Conflicting personalities, financial struggles and uncommitted team members are some examples of difficulties you'll need to overcome. However, Christian leaders have an additional burden to bear — to lead with love and compassion in a way that makes their followers want to continue following them. Keep these five strategies in mind and let them be gentle reminders about godly leadership when things get tough: 1. Let Integrity Be Your Guide Leaders need to have integrity. That idea should come as no surprise to anyone. Sometimes it's easier or more convenient to make choices or take actions in private that you may not have if they were made public. Upstanding leaders must guard against such behavior. Make it a point to stand behind your actions and to be proud of what you do. Mark 4:22 says, "for whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open." Lead as if your private actions could be exposed to everyone at any time. By consistently holding yourself to a high moral standard, you are practicing leading and living with integrity. 2. Be a Teacher One of the best motivations for being a good leader, especially when under duress, is to know others are watching you. Model the good behavior you want others to demonstrate. Take care to monitor your speech and control your temperament. Another thing to consider is tapping into reliable resources to help you direct those following you. A methodology, such as Good Soil Evangelism and Discipleship, developed by people who specialize in training and leadership development may be a good foundation for teaching Godly concepts to others. 3. Also Be a Student As a leader, you'll teach others and help them reach their potential, but it's also important to never stop learning yourself. Christians spend time in God's word to understand what He would have us do and be. Learning how to be a good leader is no different. In 2 Timothy 2:15, the apostle Paul wrote that we should "study to show thyself approved unto God." We must be diligent in being of service to God and understanding His word. The book of Proverbs has several scriptures to guide leaders. To be a good student, take initiative to try new things. Leading with humility means acknowledging you don't know everything, but you are willing to learn, try something new or do something differently than you have in the past. It doesn't mean you have to go skydiving to prove you're open to new experiences. The people you lead will take notice if you try to improve and grow by being ready to learn. 4. Remember Patience Is a Virtue With increasing pressure to do more and do it better, faster and with fewer resources, leaders are concerned with producing results. The results you seek may not come at the pace or at the level of quality you hope for, but trust that diligence and wise decisions will ultimately get you where you want to be. Continue to show gratitude to the people who are a part of your team and are working to help you reach your goal. Growing impatient with people or processes is not likely to help your cause. There are ways to practice patience as it may not be an intuitive response to situations. Conflict is another area in our lives that tests patience. Know that if you are working with other people for long enough, disagreements will occur. When issues arise, confront them head on. But do it with love and a spirit of patience. Managing conflict in a constructive way helps team members get to a resolution while still maintaining respect for one another. 5. Surround Yourself With a Strong Team Good leaders are smart, but wise leaders understand the importance of surrounding themselves with honest, trustworthy mentors. Proverbs 15:22 states that "without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed." When you make plans for yourself or the people you are leading, you'll naturally be biased toward the direction you want to go in. Sharing your plans and ideas with people who are discerning, objective and believe God's word can be a great asset. Your circle of mentors may shed light on your situation by bringing forth ideas or perspectives you hadn't considered. Their input may also help affirm that you are on the right path. These steps aren't hard, and they shouldn't be. God wants us to be successful in all our efforts. While you may be in a leadership position, remember that you are really a servant, serving the Lord first and foremost. Pray and allow God to direct your path because He is ultimately in control. A Prayer For God’s Strength In Your Present Situation Posted: 20 Sep 2017 12:24 AM PDT But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:31Have you ever needed supernatural strength to face a situation head-on, but not known what to pray? God is waiting and wants to offer us strength in time of need. Do not be afraid to pray and ask God for His strength to fall upon you! If you are weak, weary or unready to stand, and unsure of what to ask, pray along with these words: Lord, I'm weary. My energy is sagging, and my motivation is lagging. And I am so in need of you. I need your strength and your fresh touch to get back on track again. Your Word says the joy of the Lord is my strength. If that's true, then I need your joy to replace all the bone-tired parts of my mind, body, and soul. The pressures of life sometimes push me into a corner, rendering me helpless to move forward. A hundred voices call my name, and I feel paralyzed at times to answer, not knowing where to turn. Lord, help me not to quit, to keep running the race faithfully, and to find strength in that safe, secret place of yours, under the shadow of the Almighty. I need your strength to say no when I'm tempted to surrender to harmful things, or when selfishness clings to my clothes and won't let go. I need your strength to say yes, when cowardice and fear nudge me to deny the convictions of my heart. I need your strength to reach out in love to those both close to me and all around me. When don't I need your strength, God? You are my rock, and I run to you today, believing that you will lift up my heavy arms, that you will fuel me for the tasks you've given me, and that your joy will completely consume the weakness of my life and make me strong again. I don't want to stay grounded, crippled by limitations and failed attempts. I'm tired of feeble efforts. Lord, I want to mount up with wings like an eagle and not just fly. I want to soar. Renew my strength, Lord. Fill me with your supernatural power to overcome each obstacle in my path. With my eyes on you, Lord, with you walking beside me, working through me, I can make it. Thank you, Lord! In Jesus's name, Amen. [by Rebecca Barlow Jordan] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Nigerian Customs uncovers another container of 475 arms in Apapa | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Sep 2017 12:23 AM PDT The Tin Can Island Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Tuesday uncovered a container suspected to contain yet another cache of arms imported from Turkey. This is coming barely a week after the command intercepted a 20-foot container laden with 1,100 pump action rifles. The container with number, CMAU189817/8 is believed to contain about 475 sets of pump-action riffles reportedly belonging to the same importer of the last one. Daily Sun quoted a source as saying "The container is owned by the same importer of the 1,100 guns. After a detailed profiling of the importer ordered by the Area Controller, it was discovered that he still has another container inside the port. When contacted, the National Public Relations Officer of the service, Joseph Attah, said a container was suspected and it has not been examined to know what is inside. "Let's not speculate about arms, please. A container is being suspected and examination will reveal whatever is inside," he pleaded.Recall that just last week ago, operatives of the Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, busted a syndicate that smuggled weapons into the country. No fewer than 1,100 pump action rifles were loaded in the 20 foot container the gang shipped in. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Nnamdi Kanu ‘abducted, probably killed’ — Lawyer | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Sep 2017 12:23 AM PDT The lawyer representing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, says he has not communicated with his client since September 14, when Mr. Kanu's Abia State home was "invaded" by soldiers. The lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, was reacting to reports that Mr. Kanu had gone into hiding said "Mr. Kanu has probably been killed". Mr. Kanu was last seen in public on September 10, after his supporters clashed with soldiers. Mr. Ejiofor said Mr. Kanu was abducted, and claimed that reports that his client had gone into hiding were merely aimed at "diverting the attention of the public". "I have no doubt whatsoever that stories making round that my Client has fled outside Nigeria, were planted to divert attention from their murderous raid on my client's house. I made last contact with my client few minutes into the bloody onslaught in his home on the 14th day of September 2017. Till date, I have not established further communication with him. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

(Photo)Two men fight over ownership of 18 year old's five-month-baby in Warri | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 20 Sep 2017 12:23 AM PDT Two men, Ajayi Tosin and Kesiena Tito are presently in contention over ownership of a five-month-old baby, Emmanuel Omkhode Ajayi in Warri, Delta State. The duo are laying claim to the child delivered by an eighteen-year-old girl. The matter deepened after Ajayi was allegedly arrested over the weekend following a petition of "Threat to Life" instituted by Kesiena to the Nigeria Police Area Command. In an exclusive Chat with DAILY POST, Tosin Ajayi, a twenty three year old barber claimed to have cohabited with Blessing Iroroteh since 2015 before she delivered a bouncing boy this year, 2017 in his house. Ajayi also claimed that his elder sister was responsible for the medical bills after Blessing was delivered of the baby, delivered. He stressed that he has been catering for her and the baby, including her mother who came to nurse (Omugo) the baby for two months in his house at Nnewi Street, Akah Avenue in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. Ajayi noted that he did the naming as well as dedication ceremony in the presence of her mother who later whisked her (Blessing) away to the home of Kesiena Tito as the owner of the baby. Ajayi said, "I was at home when Police came to arrest and took me to the Area Command."Ajayi alleged that he was forced to say that he was not the father of the baby at the Police Station by Kesiena's family. He added that he was even forced to take N100,000, sign an undertaking to forfeit the child by the Kesiena's family stressing that, "they even said I should swear affidavit" but I rejected it. Ajayi insisted that he was the owner of the baby boy saying, "I am the owner of the baby. I don't want to sell my child. They should go ahead with the DNA but that other man should pay for it."In a contrary view, Kesiena Tito claimed to have dated Blessing, mother of the contending baby boy for five years pointing out that they separated ten months ago over an unresolved issue before she was delivered of the baby at Ajayi's house. Kesiena who hails from Ophorigbala Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area stated that he has been responsible for education of Blessing all these years. Kesiena insisted that he is the owner of the child saying, "We were dating before for the past five years before she left me for. The baby is my own."Blessing Iroroteh stated that she left Kesiena's house to Ajayi's house because she felt he (Kesiena)will not accept the pregnancy and the baby. Blessing also stated that her mother was aware that the child does not belong to Ajayi but she came there to do "Omugo" and partook in the dedication. DAILY POST gathered, however, that the Police at the Area Command in Warri has ordered that DNA be carried out to ascertain the true owner of the child or that the matter be referred to court. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
