Terrorists Again? 20 Injured As Bomb Rips Through Train In London (Photos) Posted: 15 Sep 2017 03:45 AM PDT No fewer than 20 people are injured in Tube terror attack as home-made bucket bomb sends 'fireball flying down train carriage' amid reports of 'second device' and the attacker is on the run. An explosion on a Tube train at the height of rush hour on Friday sent a 'wall' of fire through the carriage injuring at least 20 people in a suspected terror attack. Terrified commuters 'ran for their lives' and were seen covered in blood with scorched faces and hair after the incident at Parsons Green station in west London at 8.20am. Photographs from the District Line train show what experts believe is a 'pretty unsophisticated' bucket bomb in a flaming white bucket inside a Lidl freezer bag with wire protruding out of the top. One witness in the carriage told the BBC there was a 'bang' and then a 'wall of flames', which engulfed the carriage, with pictures showing a burning plastic bucket stashed in a Lidl carrier bag. Scotland Yard sources have said that it is being treated as terrorist incident but said could not confirm claims from the scene there is another bomb and the suspect is on the run. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
EFCC seizes 14 properties traced to ex-FCT minister & son Posted: 15 Sep 2017 03:45 AM PDT The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has seized14 properties located in "choice areas" of Abuja traced to the immediate past Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, and his son, Shamsuddeen. The EFCC stated this in a court application filed by one of its prosecutors, Mr. Ben Ikani. The application, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 11, 2017, sought the interim forfeiture of the properties. The anti-graft agency stated that although it had "recovered and seized" the properties, they could not be forfeited to the Federal Government without a court order. EFCC said both Mohammed and his son "have denied ownership and connection" to the properties. But the commission maintained that "preliminary investigation has revealed that the properties listed on the schedule are unlawfully acquired through corrupt practices by the former minister and his son while in office as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory." The properties, according to the EFCC, included one "mansion" located at Sunrise Estate, Asokoro, Abuja; and three sets of four-bedroomed semi-detached duplex at Green Acres Estate, Apo-Dutse, Abuja. Others were two sets of four-bedroomed fully-detached duplexes each with boys' quarters on Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, a trekable distance to Transcorps Hilton Hotel Abuja. Also listed as part of the seized properties was a four-bedroomed detached duplex with boys' quarters located at 9, Platinum Luxury Home White Estate, Asokoro, Abuja. Title documents attached to the EFCC's application stated that some of the facilities in some of properties included "excellent road and drainage network; dedicated transformer; borehole for constant water supply; fitted kitchen, bedroom cabinet and wardrobes; ample parking space; and children playing ground." The rest of the properties are plots of land in six different locations in Abuja. Already, the EFCC is prosecuting the former minister before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, on six corruption-related charges, and his son, Shamsuddeen, before the Federal High Court, Abuja, on 15 counts of money laundering and failure to declare some assets. The charges against Shamsuddeen involve about N1.1bn. Recall that two high courts in Abuja had in February ordered the former minister and his son to forfeit 10 properties located in Jabi, Garki, Maitama and Jahi and other areas of Abuja. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
How Couple Torture Little Girl With Hot Iron In Lagos Posted: 15 Sep 2017 03:15 AM PDT A guardian, Mr. ThankGod Madubuchi, and his wife, Juliet, have been arrested by policemen from the Ilupeju division, for allegedly torturing a 10-year-old girl, Chinansa, with a hot iron. It was learnt that Chinansa was ThankGod's niece and she had been living with his family at their house on Anjorin Street, Mushin, Lagos, for some time. ThankGod and his wife were alleged to have always assaulted the little girl over minor offences, as appeals from neighbours fell on deaf ears. Matter came to a head on Tuesday, September 5, when the couple used a hot iron to torture her. She was reportedly accused of licking powdered chocolate beverage (tea) without permission. The couple were said to have locked her up in the house, which drew the attention of residents who alerted officials of the Lagos State Domestic and S*xual Violence Response Team. An official of the agency told Punch that neighbours attested to the regular abuse of Chinansa. He said, "The abuse had been going on for a long time. We were informed that in the past, the man's wife used razor blades to cut her in different parts of the body because she mistakenly tore her (Juliet) clothes. The neighbours didn't raise the alarm that time because they thought the couple would change until the one that happened on that Tuesday. "The girl was accused of licking powdered beverage without permission and the man used a hot iron to torture her. He then locked her up in the house without taking her to a hospital. Residents, who feared for the girl's life, alerted the DSVRT." Policemen from the Ilupeju division arrested the couple as two officials of the DSVRT and an officer of the Child Protection Unit rescued the victim from the house. The couple were arraigned before a family court at Ogba Chief Magistrate's Court on counts bordering on child abuse. The couple, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, were granted bail by Chief Magistrate T. Akanbi. While Juliet was granted bail on self recognition because she was nursing a six-month-old baby, the husband was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum. A DSVRT survivor advocate, Mrs. Tumininu Oni, appeared in court with the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Roseline Ilekhue, who was represented by one Inspector James. The case was adjourned till September 20, 2017. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Presidency Replies Oby Ezekwesili... Says IPOB Provoking Nigerian Soldiers Posted: 15 Sep 2017 03:15 AM PDT The Presidency has replied ex-Minister Oby Ezekwesili, for accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of being a sectional leader. The Presidency stated that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was deliberately provoking soldiers to commit acts of violence in order to draw sympathy from the international community. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement on Thursday. Shehu said; "While the military are taking all precautions to observe the rules of engagement, there is a deliberate sinister agenda by IPOB to provoke the soldiers into killing innocent people in retaliation so that Nnamdi Kanu would use the pictures of the victims for international propaganda by accusing the government of ethnic cleansing against the Igbo with the sole purpose of gaining sympathy." Ezekwesili had advised President Buhari to rise above sectionalism and evacuate the soldiers deployed in the South-East as part of Operation Python Dance 2. However, Shehu asked the former minister to stop being petty. The statement read in part, "The Presidency has advised the Co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirls group, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, to demonstrate a great sense of responsibility in the face of national security challenges posed by the IPOB incendiary propaganda designed to cause civil unrest in the country. "A prominent influencer like Mrs. Ezekwesili has a moral and patriotic duty not to give ammunition to any violent group that seems determined to pursue its separatist agitation through reckless and destructive methods." According to Shehu, Madam Ezekwesili failed to condemn IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who, he said, had been promoting violence for several months. The President's spokesman said since the former minister was very active on social media, she should have been using her energy to condemn the IPOB leader but she chose to look the other way. Shehu added, "A President, who has put the nation's cash cows, the Central Bank and the Ministry of Petroleum, in the hands of the Igbo; who has given four out of five states in the sub-region senior cabinet posts in his administration, including Foreign Affairs; and Industry, Trade and Investment, and is constructing the Second Niger Bridge after years of deceit and false starts, cannot be called a hater of the Igbo." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Saraki vs Sowore: Journalists Attacked, Woman Stripped Posted: 15 Sep 2017 02:50 AM PDT There was pandemonium on Thursday on the premises of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin, the state capital, during the resumed hearing of the case involving Senate President Bukola Saraki and an online platform, Sahara Reporters, and its publisher, Mr. Omoyele Sowore. Mr. Sowore had approached the high court presided over by Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye through Falana and Falana Chambers to set aside its judgment of June 28, 2017. Justice Oyinloye had awarded a N4bn judgment against the online medium and Sowore, who were the defendants/respondents in the suit. The judgment was in favour of Saraki, who was the claimant/applicant. Before the matter came up on Thursday, many loyalists of Saraki and a few of Sowore's had thronged the courtroom for the proceedings. Efforts by other sympathisers of Saraki and Sowore who came late to gain entry into the courtroom were unsuccessful as the courtroom had been filled to capacity. They stayed outside the court premises and started singing solidarity songs in support of their heroes. In an attempt by supporters to outdo each other, the place became riotous leading to a pandemonium. Justice Oyinloye, while the pandemonium lasted outside the courtroom, ordered his police orderly to shut the court doors with an instruction never to allow anybody to enter the courtroom. Some journalists who came to cover the proceedings were attacked by the supporters of one of the parties to the suit. The reporters of AIT, Core TV and Channels TV were attacked by the thugs while attempting to enter the courtroom. Channels TV reporter, Mr. AbdulAkeem Garuba, told Punch that they were about to enter the courtroom when the hoodlums attacked them. He said, "We were about to enter the courtroom when they attacked us. As they saw us, they started to shout at us, saying, 'Who are you? What have you come to cover?' As they were doing this, they were manhandling us and dragging the camera from my cameraman. In the process, the camera was damaged. It took the intervention of lawyers on the court premises for us to escape." When asked whether the attackers were Saraki supporters or Sowore's, Garuba said he did not know. "I don't know them but I'm very sure that they are not from Ilorin because if they are, they would not have attacked us, particularly me as I have been in this state for so many years and known by many," he said. As this was going on, other journalists from the print media took to their heels. Some were wounded while a middle-aged woman identified as Funmi Ajayi was stripped half-n*ked by Saraki's supporters in the ensuing chaos. Funmi Ajayi was said to have come from Lagos to support Sowore. Passersby fled for their lives while a reinforcement of police later restored law and order. The attacked journalists and their colleagues from the print media later reported the attack to the police where they were told that some of the supporters had been arrested. Some of those arrested were Sowore's supporters. They were taken away by police on the allegations that they were in the court to disturb proceedings. Punch learnt that eight suspects who were said to be Sowore's supporters were in police custody as of the time of filing this report. It was learnt that five were initially arrested but three others who came to the police station to possibly secure the bail of the suspects were also detained. The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Lawan Addo, confirmed that five suspects were arrested on the premises of the Kwara State High Complex in Ilorin for alleged disturbances. "The fact remains that they were unruly and from the way I looked at them they tended to have gotten themselves involved in a free-for-all. They are not people ordinarily from this place, the way I look at them but investigation will reveal their identity, motive and reason for behaving the way they behaved." However, the matter in court could not proceed because Saraki's lawyer was unable to serve Sowore's lawyer with the court processes. Saraki's lawyer had told the court that Sowore's lawyer did not furnish his client with the jurisdictional address, adding that that was the reason they were unable to serve them. Saraki's legal team was led on Thursday by Mr. Tunde Olomu while Sowore was represented by Mr. Stanley Imhanruor. Justice Oyinloye, therefore, adjourned the suit till October 26, 2017 for hearing of the application by the appellant. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Ekiti Students Retain First Position In NECO Examination Posted: 15 Sep 2017 02:50 AM PDT Ekiti state says it has retained its first position in the recently conducted National Examination Council (NECO) test for secondary school students. Of all the states in the country, Ekiti recorded the best results in the 2016 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) of NECO. Governor Ayo Fayose, in a statement by Idowu Adelusi, his chief press secretary, said: "Our efforts in the education sector are yielding positive results, we have retained our first and leading position in this year's NECO examinations. Last year we came first and we have done it again. "I am promising the people of the state that we are going to maintain that leading position throughout my tenure and it will continue by the grace of God when my deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka takes over from me. "Apart from being diligent, he is the one supervising the education sector and I am proud of his commitment to duty and I am assuring you that with him in the saddle, things would get better. "When I first came to office in 2003, the sector was in bad shape and we organised the first Education Summit and we moved from number 34 in the federation to seven and first in the Sourh-West. I came back again to meet it in a bad state and we took some steps and here we are. "Last year when we came first, some critics who would not see anything good in other people said we reaped from what our predecessor left. Now we have proved them wrong. "We are the first when it comes to the motivation of teachers and assisting them with teaching aids and materials. No state celebrates teachers like we do during the annual Teachers' Day." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
Marriage Collapses After Man Catches Wife With 'Charms' Posted: 15 Sep 2017 02:15 AM PDT A married woman whose "love portion" to her husband backfired has admitted that she is living in fear of her ex-husband who is harassing and threatening to assault her. The wife identified as Moleen has approached the Harare Civil Court in Zimbabwe where she applied for a protection order against her ex-husband, Rambawo, accusing him of harassing and threatening to assault her even though the two separated a year ago. According to H-Metro, the woman who said she is living in fear of her ex-husband who is harassing and threatening to assault her, said: "Your Worship, I do not want to be harassed and this man is my ex-husband. I want him to bring back my property that we used to use at our matrimonial home. I am no longer interested in him, I only want my things back". In his response Rambawo said, "The property she is claiming is not even hers, it belongs to me. Your Worship... I do not have her property these are my hard-earned belongings which I bought with my own money without her contribution." He added, "The reason why she left our matrimonial home it is because I caught her with some juju whose use I didn't know whilst she knows that we are Christians and don't use juju." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Nigerians should please help me, my drugs cost N1.7M - Sadiq Daba | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 15 Sep 2017 01:55 AM PDT Veteran actor, Sadiq Baba has finally admitted to having issues with his health. Recall news broke a few weeks back that the October 1 actor is battling leukaemia, rumors he debunked, the ace actor has finally admitted he is indeed having some health issues, pleading with Nigerians to come to his aid. Mr Daba reveals he lives off a drug called Gleevec, used for the treatment of the disease and gets supplies of the drug free-of-charge from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, courtesy of a donor agency based in the United States. However, if one needs to buy off of the counter, it is quite expensive. "To get the drug at OAU, you have to go through a process of evaluation. Then you are recommended to the foundation that supplies the drug. But, if you are going to buy it off the counter, a pack of it will cost you about N1.7m. And this will last for three months," he said, in an interview with a Punch correspondent in his Lagos residence.Daba's battle with leukaemia started toward the end of 2015. The disease virtually caught him unawares. At first, he had thought that he was having the first symptoms of a minor ailment. "I thought I had malaria fever. So I went to a hospital in Abuja for a test. After a series of tests, the doctor was shocked. He told me that what I had was beyond them at the hospital. He advised me to seek help from a tertiary institution. The tertiary institution, in this case, simply refers to a university teaching hospital. That was in 2015. "Then I went to the Dermatology Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and it was confirmed that I had leukaemia. Fortunately, the disease was not overblown yet. It was still at the early and manageable stage. I was placed on drugs," he recounted. But, midway into the treatment of the ailment in 2016, Daba had a relapse and he was hospitalised for about three months. "I was rushed from my residence to the Lagos State Emergency Unit. Again, I was fortunate to encounter a group of dedicated and courteous medical staff there who took great care of me. I was placed under observation for 48 hours and, thereafter, they wheeled me to the General Hospital where I was admitted," he said. He recalled that during his stay at the hospital, which lasted two months, the chief medical director of LASUTH came on a ward visit and recognised him as he lay on his sickbed. "It was nice that he visited the ward at that point because my bill was almost over N1m. The good doctor went on to slash the entire bill by 50 per cent. I will never forget that," he said. After leaving the hospital, Daba started attending a dermatology clinic where he met one Dr. Balogun, a consultant on dermatology, whom he described as a "fantastic person". Although the doctor placed him on a regular diet of drugs, it failed to solve his problem. Eventually, she advised him to go to the "only medical centre in Nigeria where leukaemia patients are treated and the right drugs are available" for the treatment of the ailment. That centre is at the OAU, Ile-Ife. "She gave me a referral letter. But I was scared because there was a proviso that I might undergo a bone-marrow surgery. For the first two months, I could not go to the university simply because I was trying to avoid the surgery," he said. While he struggled to overcome his fright, the broadcaster had another relapse. This time, he was warned that he needed to go for proper medical treatment at OAU. Somehow, when he got there the doctors had to skip the bone-marrow operation and he was placed on drugs. The doctors also warned him not to skip the drugs, donated to OAU by the Max Foundation, even for one day. For this reason, he has visited the university from his residence four times. However, wondering what would have been the situation in the absence of such collaboration between the foundation and the institution's dermatology department, he said, "If the Max Foundation had not been doing this and as a patient, you were to spend money for treatment, you would be dead." culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
FULL DETAILS: What Does 666 Mean? Posted: 15 Sep 2017 01:50 AM PDT Dear Dr. Roger, You said in today's post that you will post your answer to "what does 666 mean" when somebody asks you. May I please be considered a "somebody" so that you will do so? I, too, believe in "types and shadows" and do believe that the Bible is to be read both historically and predictively. We are certainly living in some very frightening, scary times, aren't we? The antichrist knows his days are numbered... and so do we. So, what is the real meaning of 666? May you be greatly blessed. Mary Kay Read Dr. Roger's reply below... Dear Mary Kay, Here is your answer to what 666 means according to the book of Revelation: 666 literally means a name. The number "666" is the number of the name of the coming Antichrist. Giving a number to a name is called "gematria," which is the Greek practice of adding up the letters in someone's name. In Latin this practice is called "isopsephism." Each letter in the Greek language has a numeral equivalent. Add up the letters and you get the number of the name. When Julie and I were dating I often wrote the initials, "RB + JT" in my notebook or in the wet cement of a newly poured sidewalk. Of course, the Initials stand for, "Roger Barrier plus Julie Tacker." Young lovers in Greece and Rome used gematria to express their relationships. For example, one inscription on a wall in Pompei reads, "I love the girl whose number is 545. Of course, it is quite easy to take a name and turn it into a number. It is much harder to take a number and turn it back into a name. Turning the number into a name is the key to unlocking the name of the Antichrist. Revelation 13:18 is the applicable verse: "This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666." According to John, those who are wise can get an insight into the Antichrist's identity by knowing the number of his name. In ancient Greek, Hebrew and Latin letters represented numerals according to their order in the alphabet. For example, in Greek, Alpha is one, Bata is two and so on. The letters in Greek for "Nero" (Neron) add up to 1005. However, if the Greek letters for Nero Caesar (Neron Kaisar) are transliterated into Hebrew (nrwn qsr), the letter numbers add up to 666 (50 + 200 + 6 + 50 + 100 + 60 + 200 = 666). By the way, the "the number of the beast" was not written as a figure like "666." Rather, the letters of the alphabet were written out in full. Many interpreters consider the Roman Emperor Nero to be the "antichrist" of Revelation 13 because the number of his name is 666 and because he inflicted "Antichrist-like" horror upon the first century Christians. Some consider Nero to be a historical Antichrist and we that we are not to expect a future Antichrist. Yet, for the number to have any significance for a first century AD reader, it would have to refer to a contemporary historical figure. Other interpreters, myself included, view the Book of Revelation as being both historical and predictive of coming future events (This is the double fulfillment principle of prophecy.) According to this view, Nero was indeed an "antichrist" as well as a type or picture of the coming future Antichrist — whose number-name will also add up to 666. Nero was a despicable man who murdered his own mother. Nero fiddled the night Rome burned. By blaming Christians for the fire, he justified his tortuous murdering of uncounted hundreds of those who proclaimed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He proclaimed his supposed divinity on coins, identifying him as the "Savior of the World." Since Christians have only one Lord, refusing to burn incense and declare Caesar Nero as Lord was like signing your own death warrant. As an aside, since Nero ruled from A.D. 54-68 he would have been the emperor to whom Paul appealed his case as recorded in Acts 25:10-12. For those who may be interested, I quote below a passage from Tacitus, the Greek historian (c. A.D. 60-120), who preserved in his Annals (XV.44) the viciousness of the Neronian persecutions which give us some idea of the horror the coming Antichrist will inflict on both Jews and Christians. Nero falsely accused as the culprits [who started the fire] and punished with the utmost refinement of cruelty a class … who are commonly called Christians. "Christus," from whom their name is derived, was executed at the hands of the procurator Pontius Pilate in the reign of Tiberius.… Accordingly, arrest was first made of those who confessed [to being Christians]; then, on their evidence [refusing to worship Nero as Lord], an immense multitude was convicted ... Besides being put to death they were made to serve as objects of amusement; they were clothed in the hides of beasts and torn to death by dogs; others were crucified, others set on fire to serve to illuminate the night when daylight failed…. All this gave rise to a feeling of pity, even towards men whose guilt merited the most exemplary punishment; for it was felt that they were being destroyed not for the public good but to gratify the cruelty of an individual. The number "6" in the Bible is often associated with man; just as the number "7" is the perfect number and "3" often correlates to the Trinity. 666 is thus a number that consistently falls short of triple perfection: 777. The number also refers to the "unholy trinity," Satan, the Beast and the False Prophet. One day I got to wondering what Jesus' number might happen to be. So I added up the Greek letter-numbers in Jesus name (ιζσους = 10 + 7 + 200 + 70 + 400 + 200 =887). What a shame. 887 is only one digit short of "888" which would symbolize Jesus as consistently one better than perfection. As I am writing my answer I wonder what "Christ" adds up to? Let's find out (χριστος = 600 + 100 + 10 + 200 + 300 + 70 + 200 = 1480). Well, I don't find any symbolism in 1480, but it was worth a try. By the way, some early manuscripts identify the number-name of the Antichrist as 616 (instead of 666). By omitting the final "n" in Nero's name in Greek, transliterating that name into Hebrew, and then adding up the letters, the number of Nero and of the coming Antichrist both add up to 616. Regardless of the number, Nero is the only name that can account for both 666 and 616. But, 616 is a story for another time. I hope my answer to what 666 means is both interesting and informative. Thanks for the question. - Love Roger [by Dr. Roger Barrier] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

5 Reasons Many People Love Android Devices Posted: 15 Sep 2017 01:15 AM PDT The debate on which is the better operating system between the iOS and Android operating system is a debate that will probably never be concluded, however, it is impossible to deny some of the impressive features that the Android operating system offers. Jumia Travel shares 5 reasons people love Android devices. It's Affordable Buying an Android device is unlikely to devastate your bank account, and for that affordability it remains an attractive option to many. With varieties of devices, designs and specs, Android devices really have something to suit every budget range and offers a true and enjoyable smartphone experience. Android's affordability is what has driven and continues to drive its worldwide dominance. It Allows Customization Another strong feature of Android devices is the fact that it allows customization. Unlike most Apple devices, Android devices let you choose any level of customization you want and this flexibility is what really appeals to most smartphone users. This is because many smartphone users generally tend to want to explore the limits of their devices, and they typically like having the ability to freely customize and play around with features and design of their phones. It Allows For Multi-Tasking Some might argue that iOS devices also allow multi-tasking, but what they cannot deny is that the level of multi-tasking that iOS devices support, does not come anywhere near the level of multi-tasking some Android phones offer. Samsung phones are a good examples of Android phones that have great multi-tasking features. This is one area that Apple is more or less playing catch-up to Android devices. Its Seamless Integration With Google's Services Android devices integrate seamlessly with Google's varieties of services, and this works just great because Google is largely considered the 'king of the web'. Apple and iOS doesn't seem to be able to keep up in this area, and have had to yield to accommodating more Google services on their platform. Unfortunately, the seamless integration enjoyed between Android devices and Google services, is not replicated in the integration of iOS and Google services. There are Widgets! With widgets you can 'see all the information you need at a glance' without having to open an app. Widgets are a major advantage Android devices have over iOS devices, mainly because even with Apple's recent launch of widgets on their iOS devices, it still remains very limited on iOS compared to the widgets of Android devices that are more unbounded and offer more varieties. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

IPOB Saga: "There Is No Tension In Nigeria" – Police Boss Posted: 15 Sep 2017 12:45 AM PDT With two weeks to independence anniversary, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, on Thursday maintained that there is no tension in the country. But he said efforts are on to quell the little disturbances in the South East. He said "I don't think there is tension in the country. Which country? This Nigeria? No. Nigeria does not have any tension. At least you are in Abuja you have gone around there is no tension." He spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday. On the South East, he said, "Obviously one is to deploy policemen across the country, two we are in touch with the states government, trying to mobilize the political leadership to be able to intervene where necessary on how to lessen the tension in the South East." He disagreed with the allegations by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike claiming that most crimes committed in Rivers State was committed by members Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Reacting to the allegation, he said "He has right to self expression. You know he is a governor." Asked if he was not denying the the claim, he said "Of course I have to deny that, that is nonsense. I have to deny that." On the picture of policemen displayed to support the governor's claim, he said "If a policeman was killed will you say he was involved in crime? I think you are mixing two different issues. "A policeman was killed in Rivers in connection with this IPOB issue, its different from saying the policemen are involved in crime. You cannot say someone that was attacked and killed is the one involved in crime. Who is the person they were attempting to kidnap?" culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
How To Change Your Actions & Change Your Life For Good Posted: 15 Sep 2017 12:20 AM PDT I've had a hard day. This has been one hard month. We've had a hard year. My life has been so hard. Yep. Sometimes life is like that. It certainly was for Jacob. "Jacob replied, 'I have traveled this earth for 130 hard years.'" (Genesis 47:9 NLT) According to Jacob, he had a hard life. Yet I wonder what Esau would say? You see, Jacob lived under the blessing of God (ruthlessly stolen from his brother, Esau). "From the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth, may God always give you abundant harvests of grain and bountiful new wine. May many nations become your servants, and may they bow down to you. May you be the master over your brothers, and may your mother's sons bow down to you. All who curse you will be cursed, and all who bless you will be blessed." (Genesis 27:28-29 NLT) What an incredible blessing. Surely such blessing would guarantee at least a good life. Yet Jacob did not experience that kind of life. Why did someone who had God's blessing on his life live such a hard life? Perhaps Jacob made life hard on himself. "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ." (Ephesians 1:3 NLT) Might I remind us that as believers, we too live under a blessing. A superior blessing to that of Jacob. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing you can possibly imagine, and then some. So why is life hard? Yes, there are times we come under immense attack. The minute you gave your life to Christ you became a target of Satan. And he makes it hard. But, sometimes we make it hard on ourselves. How do we make life hard on ourselves? I'm glad you asked. Poor Perspective The couple desperately wanting to have a baby could become discouraged and disheartened, or cherish time they spend together. The single woman who wishes to be married could pine away in sorrow, or she could embrace the benefits of singledom wholeheartedly. A child could despise waking for school each morning or be thankful for the opportunity of education. It all depends on perspective. From Jacob's perspective, his was a hard life. And you have to admit, it kinda was. His brother wanted to kill him, he married four women, his daughter was raped, his sons killed a city in revenge, his son Reuben had an affair with one of his wives, he thought his son was dead for 13 years, and his livelihood was struck by famine. However, Jacob also had incredible experiences. He was blessed by his father, he dreamt of angels ascending and descending from heaven, God promised his descendants would be great, he fell in love with a beautiful woman, he had twelve children, he prospered even when Laban tried to deceive him, he was protected, he reconciled with Esau, he wrestled with God, in famine God sent him to Goshen, he was reunited with his son, and died passing the blessing on to the rest of his family. "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." (John 16:33 NLT) If life is hard, take heart and have the perspective of an overcomer. Poor Mindset If you read Jacob's journey to Paddan-Aram in Genesis 29 and 30, you find there is a lot of work going on. Jacob had to work for his wives. Leah worked for love. Rachel worked for approval. Perhaps life is hard because you are working for it instead of operating out of grace. There is work where seven years feels like days called grace. There is work that feels like more than seven years called toil. And there is a fine line between them both. "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace." (Matthew 11:28-29 MSG) If life is hard; stop forcing it and allow God's rhythms of grace to take the lead. Poor Decisions There are times when life is hard because of our own poor choices. Laban was bad news. He sold his daughters. He lied. He cheated. Yet Jacob got into agreement with Laban. And he paid for it. Get in agreement with the wrong person and you end up with Leah. You end up with trouble, debt, bad relationships, and addictions to name a few. If life is hard because of poor decisions and bad agreements there is a way out. It might be as simple as unfollowing their posts on social media. It may mean blocking their number. Or it might require specific wisdom. Remember, God promises to provide wisdom when we ask (James 1:5). Poor Vision The Bible tells us Leah had weak eyes (Genesis 29:17 NIV), but if you ask me, Jacob was the one with weak eyes. He couldn't see the future and lived in the past. When Joseph was taken to Egypt, Jacob almost died of heartbreak. The one thing keeping him alive was tied up in the past - his first love and the good that came of their union. Nothing makes life hard like looking back. Life is not meant to be lived in reverse. The past does not belong to us. Decide today you will no longer make life hard on yourself. Change your perspective, mindset, decisions, and vision. A blessed life does not have to be hard. Police ‘arrest’ Alsatian dog for robbery in Lagos | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Sep 2017 08:55 PM PDT Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command, have arrested an Alsatian dog named Bullet, for alleged robbery in the Ladipo, Oshodi area of the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, during a parade of the dog at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Thursday, said two other robbery suspects, Odunade Olajide and Adeniyi Adisa, sent the dog after their victims. He explained that in fear, their targets would surrender their belongings. The CP said after dispossessing the victims of cash and other valuables, the suspects would speed away with the dog on a motorcycle. He said the men, however, met their Waterloo while attempting to rob a lady of her valuables in Ladipo, as the victim raised the alarm and the suspects were apprehended by the police. Imohimi noted that their operational motorcycle was also recovered. He said, "On September 5, 2017, two local criminals, who specialised in robbing people by sending a dog to attack them, were arrested. The suspects would command the Alsatian dog to attack a victim. The dog, in response to the command, would pounce on the person. Gripped with fear, the person would hand over all his belonging to the gang." The CP explained that detectives had been on the trail of the suspects, but luck ran out on them last Thursday when they were arrested. But the suspects denied the allegations, saying they had only gone to buy dog feed when the woman raised a false alarm. Olajide said the woman eventually found her phone where she kept it, adding that by then it was late as SARS operatives had arrested them. Punch culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
Surveillance video shows Kenneka Jenkins walking into freezer alone | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Sep 2017 08:40 PM PDT Ap opular Chicago activist who claims to have seen surveillance footage of Kenneka Jenkins hours before her death said Thursday that the young woman entered the hotel's walk-in freezer alone and was not forced inside. Andrew Holmes, who has worked in the community for decades fighting against violence, told the Chicago Tribune that detectives in Rosemont allowed him to view the video on Wednesday when he went to seek answers on behalf of Jenkins' family. He said the video shows Jenkins, 19, waiting in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel after her friends apparently went up to the room in which they had been partying to retrieve some possessions. Jenkins then takes the elevator to a lower level and wanders around, opening doors in an apparently disoriented manner, he said. Finally, he said, Jenkins opens two doors in a kitchen area and enters the walk-in freezer. The doors close behind her and Jenkins is seen no more, he said. 'We all was wondering and wanted to know did anybody pull her down there?' Holmes told reporters Thursday. 'Did anybody force her down there? Was anybody on the other side in that room when she got down there? And the answer to that is 'no.' Jenkins' body was discovered in the industrial, walk-in freezer at The Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Rosemont, a suburb of Chicago, on Saturday at around midnight. However ,many still believe foul play is involved . culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
