6 Interesting Ways To Build Wealth

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 03:21 AM PDT

In this day and age, even with the current economic situation, it is still very possible to build wealth. The knowledge of some of the best ways to build wealth can go a long way in helping you to successfully increase your net-worth and elevate your financial status.

Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 6 best ways to build wealth.

Consider Your Vehicle
One of the worst things a car buyer can do is to buy a car without doing some research first. It is extremely important for a car buyer not to rush into the process and get as much information as he/she can on the vehicle reliability, pricing and financing of the vehicle he/she intends to buy. This is mainly because there are many people currently spending a significant portion of their income and savings on car expenses and it's almost like their vehicles are vacuums that suck up all their money. Various car payments can be normal but this 'normal' will definitely not help you build wealth in the long run, and it is best to do proper research before purchasing a vehicle so you don't end up with a vehicle that constantly devastates your bank account.

Be Wary of 'Little' Expenses
The thing about little expenses is that they quickly add up into shockingly large expenses, so unless you need something, you really have no business buying it. Avoid buying crap that is not only useless, but eventually becomes a regretful waste of your money. Every 'little' expenses should pass the 'is it useful?' test, and if it doesn't pass the test, then please save the money and be on your way to building wealth.

Save a Percentage of Your Income
There is no magical way to build wealth, it takes time that's why it's called 'build' wealth not 'conjure' wealth, and saving remains one of the best ways to build wealth. Yes people are fond of saying that it's difficult to have a saving culture in our society because we simply don't earn enough, but that really isn't true. Consider Fridays and how much money is wasted by most of us in the name of 'boys night out' or 'girls night out'; if a person decides to take N5000 or even N3000 out of that entertainment money and put in a saving account for a year, he/she would have saved at least N60,000 or N36,000. Though the money might be small, it is something, and if the person continues that way for half a decade, it would have increased to something very reasonable, alongside the interest that will be received on it. If the person is interested in building his/her money further, he/she can invest some in real estate or can decide to buy shares and let that money continue to multiply in these ventures. There are still other legal investments to consider that can be very good for you in helping to build wealth, you just need to do some research to find out about them.

Earn More
It is important to change that wallowing mindset of 'Well, if my job is crappy and I don't earn enough or if i'm not given salary increases, how on earth can I earn more?' There is little than can get in the way of a determined man, and if you are able to work up enough grit to think of and actively look for ways to earn more money, you will. Life simply answers more to those who learn to take the bull by the horns and refuse to give in, give up or wallow. Some ways to earn more money include getting a side job (maybe a weekend job) whose income can contribute to that of your main job, invest in your education by getting more degrees or certifications that can qualify you for better paying jobs etc.

Consider Venturing into Entrepreneurship
If you have a knack for it, entrepreneurship can be a very effective way of building wealth. For most people, their wealth building journey really took off when they made the decision to venture into entrepreneurship. However, starting a business is no small feat and it's definitely not for the faint of heart. You are likely going to experience a lot of challenges and setbacks, and you will have to remain focused and resilient through it all. You also have to be prepared for the fact that as much as starting an entrepreneurial venture can help to jumpstart your wealth building journey, it can also really set you back financially. Nevertheless, like was said earlier, if you have a knack for it and genuinely believe you have what can set you apart from the rest and can succeed at it, then you can definitely consider venturing into entrepreneurship.

Consider Real Estate
Investing in real estate is not for everyone, but it has helped a significant amount of people build wealth. Real estate investments might not make you wealthy overnight, but it can significantly increase your net-worth in a shorter time-frame than many other traditional investments. If you invest in real estate correctly, wisely and responsibly, it can earn you significant windfalls that can eventually significantly elevate your financial status. Some real estate investment strategies include buying and selling undeveloped lands, renting out apartments, house flipping etc.

Woman Allegedly Kills Her Daughter to Save Her From Aliens(Photo) | Mr Olumide's Blog

A Virginia mom is facing charges after allegedly killing her 6-year-old daughter with a shotgun blast in an effort to protect her from aliens. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to reports, 27-year-old Darla Elizabeth Hise turned a gun on her daughter Abigail in their home in Hot Springs, VA back in February. Upon her arrest, Hise was taken to a psychiatric hospital for treatment, where she explained her reason for shooting and killing her child. ⠀

In the interview with officials, Hise revealed that "she believed her daughter and son were in danger from aliens and she thought she was going to save her daughter by sending her to heaven,"

Hise's attorney, Tony Anserson, wrote in a motion to toss her confession, which was filed last week. Anserson added that the woman was under the heavy influence of "drugs and psychosis" which compromised her ability to make sound decisions and prompted her to waive her Miranda rights to remain silent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the motion to suppress Hise's statement to police, Anserson said Hise told officials that she had "aliens in her body and wanted them removed from her stomach" and was speaking incoherently at the hospital, just before she was diagnosed with "possible drug-induced psychosis vs PTSD psychosis." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hise was then charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, two counts of use of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and having a firearm while in the possession of drugs. She has since pleaded not guilty to all charges. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Young mum whose daughter was born blind shares her moving story | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 02:18 AM PDT

A mum took to social media to share her heartbreak of finding out her daughter was born blind. She also shared her resolve not to let it affect her daughter . Kiara Shanee's story has gone viral and she has raised over $14K out of the $10k fund opened to secure her daughter's future. She wrote
"When we found out I was having a baby girl, I was so excited and started planning her whole life out in my head. Dance schools, gymnastics, modelling etc. All cute things that little girls do. And to top it off, my best friend proposed to me, taking the next step to making our family one!

Life was looking up and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I ate all kinds of healthy foods, drank the best water, Google was life and avocado became my best friend lol.
The day came on 3.15.2017 at 5:34am after having labour pains for almost two days. It was a natural and easy birth and God blessed me with a beautiful baby girl - Kensley Ayanna. But I noticed something.. it was a big lump under her left eye and her eyes were swollen. I asked the nurses and doctors I saw that day and everyone told me it would go down, not to worry about it. But I pressed on because I wanted her to open her eyes.. to see me and her dad. The next day we were hit with heart breaking news. "We didn't find any", is what they said to us.

My heart fell to my stomach. My fiancé broken like never before. In an instant it pulled us closer together. With my mom by my side, they helped me to be STRONG. I had no other choice. It felt like a dream. My baby girl has a rare genetic disorder called Anophthalmia (born without eyes). Like what? Why me? Why her? But I soon realised what was best for her was me and what was best for me was her! Today I no longer have those questions.

God makes no mistakes. During ultrasounds she would cover her face or turn her head because she was meant to be here. I will treat my daughter as normal because she is normal. A healthy baby girl who has the advantage of not seeing the ugliness in the world the way I do.

To meet and love someone for who they are, not what they see. To surpass all limitations and expectations. Kensley will have to work a little harder but yes, I will see to it as her mother that NOTHING stands in her way. For now my eyes are hers and I will show my daughter nothing but how to be the strongest and smartest black woman there is with all the confidence in the world!" ❤️✨ #anophthalm

List of 173 ISIS assasins ready to strike in Europe is found in Iraq | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 01:48 AM PDT

A terrifying list of 173 ISIS assassins prepared to carry out attacks in Europe has been found in Iraq.
The list was found in a terrorist hideout in the shattered ruins of Mosul and includes names, photos and the country of origin of scores of fanatics.

More than 130 of the fighters are from Iraq, but it also includes Tunisians, Moroccans and Jordanians as well as jihadists from Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia, according to German newspaper Die Welt.

Six of the terrorists are Europeans - from Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany.

The lone German on the list is Sami J., 27, from Solingen(pictured), formerly a leading member of the Islamist group Fillatu Ibrahim.

His current battle name is 'Abu Assid al-Almani' - the German. He is said to have left his homeland in 2012, travelled to Egypt, then Libya and later via Turkey to Syria to join ISIS.

His wife and child followed him but it is not clear whether he is still alive. In mid-July ISIS broadcast a report about his death via its propaganda service in Raqqa but without mentioning how he died.
This is considered unusual and intelligence agencies believe may be false in order for him to be secreted back into Europe for a suicide mission.

Die Welt says it has seen the list, adding: 'Each photo on the list is marked with a name and a date of birth, with a often martial-sounding battlename and information about the country of origin.

10 Reasons You Should Go To Church Every Week

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 01:26 AM PDT

When I was growing up, my grandmother went to church every week. It was a part of our family's culture and a value I still follow today. But in today's day and age with sports activities and working on weekends, culture has made attending church once a month the new norm. It is easy to miss church if you feel you don't fit or feel like no one would miss you if you were gone. Church has improved my life in so many ways; I rarely miss a Sunday.

Here are ten reasons you'll want to attend your next church service:

1. So You Can Enjoy Community
The number one reason why I love my church is for the community I receive. There is a reason why Scripture refers to members of churches and "brothers and sisters." Church is not just a place to go to on Sundays, but rather a gathering of people who have committed to walking their spiritual journeys interdependently rather than independently. Some of the people I call my dearest friends are those I have met within the church and have had the pleasure of serving alongside.

2. So You Can Use Your Gifts
God has gifted each one of us not only with natural talents, like singing or playing an instrument, but also with spiritual gifts, that when used, build up the church body in unique ways. If you don't know what your gifts are, I encourage you to take a spiritual gifts inventory or read biblical passages such as 1 Corinthians 12-14,Romans 12, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter 4. If you still don't know what they are, find someone who can affirm the gifts they see in you. Sometimes others can see what we have trouble seeing in ourselves. Once you have confirmed those gifts, talk to a pastor or ministry head and see where you might best be suited to use those gifts. Maybe it is an existing ministry, or maybe your church is missing an important ministry that you can create yourself! The possibilities are endless.

3. So You Can Discover Your Purpose
Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has a plan for all of us. He knows the hairs on our heads and has ordered every one of our steps. But finding out what that purpose and plan is easier said than done. As members of your church get to know you, they can speak words of encouragement and affirmation into your life. They can help navigate through the muddy waters we call life. Seeking wise counsel is one of the many benefits of being a part of a church, and something that is difficult to find outside family members and close friends.

4. So You Can Find Connection
I have met many people not only during my time in ministry but also my time being a Christian. Some people are exactly like me while others are the complete opposite. I get the chance to meet and connect with people I wouldn't have met otherwise if it were not for being a regular church attender. Being in relationship with people who are the opposite of me can be frustrating at times but it helps me work on making me a better person because of those relationships. In either scenario, I connect with people in a unique way and discover things about myself I would have never had the opportunity to do otherwise.

5. So You Can Worship
Worship can happen any time of the day and any day of the week. I can worship in the car, in my room or when I'm feeling down. But there is nothing like getting together in a room full of other worshippers and singing my heart out to God with others who share that same desire. My life is enriched when I worship with others and I can't do that sitting at home by myself.

6. So You Can Learn the Word
I admit, I don't read my Bible as often as I should, and I don't take the time to study the Word through concordances and other Bible study tools on a regular basis. But when I go to church on Sunday, I get the opportunity to hear the Word preached in ways that help me understand it better and in unique ways I may not have seen myself if I was studying it on my own.

7. So You Can Participate in Missions
My church has a high emphasis on missions. Our church is in the process of organizing a Missions trip so that members of the congregation can share the love of Jesus with those who have never heard His name before. When I regularly attend church, I get to share the good news with people to whom the name of Jesus is foreign. I also experience cultures and see the world I would not have seen if not for low cost opportunities like those presented by a church. Often, churches offer scholarships and ways to work off costs and fees so everyone can experience what it is like to be a part of a Missions trip.

8. So You Can Practice Generosity
When I give of my money, I often think of how far reaching my money goes. I imagine getting to heaven and meeting people I never met on earth whose life was touched because I gave to a missions fund or general fund. What if a person walked into our newly renovated church building heard about Jesus and dedicated his life to Him who couldn't attend previously because the sanctuary was too small. Where else can I allow my dollars to create such an impact on others' lives?

9. So You Can Forge Lifelong Friendships
Scripture references church members as the body of Christ. Once you make friends at church, you are forever bonded to them through your desire to follow Jesus. Even if you don't attend that church anymore, there is a special connection you share because of the Savior. Who can't use another friend or two in their lives?

10. So You Can Enjoy Food
Last of all, the food! Potlucks bring a sense of coziness and family like nothing else. Coming to church with a dish you learned from your grandmother and having the opportunity to share it with the people I love not only lets me practice hospitality but also share the intimacy that comes from sitting around a table eating and getting to know those around me. And, well, who doesn't love a free meal?

Get in the habit of going to church regularly. The positives outweigh the negatives and you never know what opportunity God may present you with because of your attendance.

SERIOUSLY? 1.2 Million Applicants Applied for 1,112 Nigeria Immigration Jobs

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 12:51 AM PDT

About 1.2 million applicants are presently competing to clinch 1,112 job openings to be filled by the Nigeria Immigration Service.

According to report, the Service is recruiting over 1,00 officers in its ongoing recruitment drive, according to its Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede.

Speaking in an exclusive chat with Premium Times, the Immigration boss said the service has received 1.2 million applications through its portal.

The ongoing recruitment exercise, which was announced in May 2017, is for three cadres:
Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (II), Immigration Assistant (III) and Assistant Inspector of Immigration.

The Immigration comptroller general said the current recruitment drive is meant to fill the shortfall of slots left after the service had absorbed 888 of 2,000 officers engaged in May 2015.

Mr. Babandede said the computerised application system will prune down the number of applicants based on unmet criteria.

He said all those who have not met age or educational qualifications for the applied posts will be automatically disqualified by the system.

The recruitment exercise is the first since 2014 when a similar exercise was mired by controversy following a stampede that killed many applicants, including seven in Abuja.

Shocking photos- Man mauled by bear after teasing the animal with food | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 12:43 AM PDT

It was just like a scene out of Leonardo Di Caprio's award winning movie, The Revenant as an enormous bear mauled a man after he allegedly teased with the beast by dangling food above its jaws.

Naiphum Promratee, 36 and his friends had gone to a temple in rural Phetchabun province, Thailand, when he was reportedly seen holding a bowl of rice above the huge bear before it suddenly snatched him into its enclosure.
The animal knocked him unconscious as it dragged him back towards its cage.

After failed attempts to rescue him,one of the group ran into the enclosure and battered the bear in its cage with a pole while friends rescued Naiphum.

Naiphum was rushed to hospital where he is now recovering and able to talk.

(Photo)Couple drug ,sexually abuse 5 year old girl while live streaming the attack | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 03 Aug 2017 12:08 AM PDT

A British couple drugged a young girl and streamed live webcam video of themselves sexually abusing as a paedophile in the US watched, a court heard.

Sarah Gotham, 34, and her now former partner Craig Forbes, 36, indecently touched the youngster, aged five, during a Skype video call with a woman in California, a jury was told.

Assistant police chief resigns after posting racist meme on Facebook | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 02 Aug 2017 10:13 PM PDT

Wayne Welsh, an assistant chief at the Estherwood Police Department, has resigned after he shared a post Sunday depicting a woman holding a young girl's head under water in a bathtub, with the caption, "When your daughters [sic] first crush is a little negro boy."

Social media users grabbed a screenshot of the officer's post and it quickly went viral.

Welsh's community was outraged by his post and  Estherwood's police chief, Ernest Villejoin, confirmed to HuffPost Wednesday that Welsh had resigned and said the "situation has been taken care of."
He told local media earlier this week that he was dumbfounded when he saw the post.

"When I found out about it, I couldn't believe I had to call him. I called him at work and asked him what the hell is going on," Villejoin told local news outlet KADN. "He done it. He said it and he realized what he had done after he done it and he deleted it but it was too late."

Welsh, whose Facebook page is now private, appeared to be surprised at the backlash before he apologized on Monday, according to KATC.

"It's not against the law to share something on Facebook. It's social media. Internet," he posted, before backpedaling with an apology. "Well, I'm sorry for what happen. Ya [sic] have a blessed day."

Life Is A Race, Being Properly Dressed Doesn't Mean You Are Ready For It - Tonto Dikeh | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 02 Aug 2017 02:38 PM PDT

Actress Tonto Dikeh, is indeed a spiritual being.

She took to IG to share some deep words with her fans about life.

According to the mom of one, one needs a lot to be ready to face the struggles of life and having God in one's corner is the first step.

She wrote:
A lot of times many of us think we are ready for everything God is about to do. We look ready... We seem ready... We even get frustrated that it's not happening.. But hey! Life is marathon and just because you turn up in a jersey and the right running shoes doesn't mean you are actually prepared for the race. The waiting seasons of life are actually God's disguise to prepare you for what lies ahead.. And sometimes it's not the big things... It's the little things that go quite unnoticed.
Moses parted the Red sea but needed Patience to see the land he prophesied about. Samson slew thousands but needed self control to fulfill the totality of his destiny.
So from anger, to bitterness, to unforgiveness, lust, procrastination, pride,Gossiping, fornicating, hate, envy or even talkativeness, there are things you must shed to be prepared for what lies ahead.. So you think you are ready? Self Scan! Lean on God and learn by Grace!
