Nigeria spends N6.2b feeding 3million pupils | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Aug 2017 04:33 AM PDT Nigeria's Federal Government has spent N6.2 billion under the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme, one of its four ongoing Social Investment Programmes (SIP), with Ogun and Osun states having the most children covered. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice-President), Mr Laolu Akande, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday. He said the expenditure was in fulfilment of the Federal Government's plan to ramp up the Social Investment Programmes this year. According to him, the Buhari administration is now close to its target of feeding three million primary school pupils this year under the Homegrown School Feeding Programme. "Specifically, at the last count, a total of N6, 204,912,889 has been paid out to 14 states during the school year ending August 2017. The 14 states that have been covered under the School Feeding Programme are: Anambra, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ebonyi, Zamfara, Delta, Abia, Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, Taraba and Kaduna. "So far, a total of 2,827,501 school children are currently benefiting from the School Feeding Programme, which is well on course to achieve the Federal Government's projection to feed over three million pupils this year,'' he said. According to the presidential aide, 33,895 cooks have been engaged in the communities where the schools are located across the 14 states. NAN culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |

Rich Associates of Millionaire Kidnapper Evans Arrested Posted: 14 Aug 2017 04:08 AM PDT Police have arrested some millionaire associates of kidnap lord Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans. Ongoing police investigation has revealed that Evans was also involved in crimes in far away South Africa. That is besides his alleged illegal procurement of a Ghanaian passport that bears his passport photograph but a Ghanaian name. Police spokesman, Moshood Jimoh, said investigation has also led to the arrest of more associates of Evans who were found to be probably wealthier and living bigger than him. Evans is spending his second month in police custody and is expected to be formally charged within the next one month, Jimoh said. The Nation quoted him as saying: "You may recall that a Federal High Court granted us a three month remand warrant for Evans. We are just into the second month now and before the expiration of the third month, it is expected that we should be taking him to court. "The little time is to ensure that we conduct a thorough and detailed investigation. "This is somebody that committed crimes across several states and even went outside Nigeria. "You may recall that he illegally acquired a Ghanaian passport with a Ghanaian name but with his passport photograph. "He was also fingered for involvement in other crimes in South Africa and other places. So we need a little time to properly round things up and ensure that he is properly prosecuted because Nigerians will not be happy if we lose such a case in court on the basis of technical matters." He said relations of former victims of Evans' are among those being detained by the police. They are suspected of giving information about the former kidnap victims to Evans. He advised the public to be security conscious at all times to avoid falling prey to kidnappers. His words: "He (Evans) did things with lots of such people and we have lots of suspects who had collaborated with him in one way or the other; we even have other prime suspects apart from those that were arrested with him and paraded. "In the course of this investigation we have other prime suspects including people who broke away from Evans' gang to start their own gang – they left Evans to go and do a similar (kidnapping) business. "Some of the suspects we later picked after detectives' interactions with Evans are even living larger than Evans. "We are going to ensure that we don't make things public until we gather all our evidence towards securing a conviction in court. "I won't give you figures but they are many suspects; there are a lot of accomplices, lots of former gang members and lots of other people that have in one way or the other facilitated the offences committed by Evans and others. "There is a special group of criminal suspects that are referred to as 'catchers'; in criminal syndicates, they are the people that identify targets and give information about innocent, law-abiding people and more of such suspects are being rounded up. "Part of our investigation reveals that Evans himself jogs round the estate where he lives every morning and uses that opportunity to assess information on those potential victims that have what they described as 'kidnap value'. "It was after his arrest that some of his surprised neighbours realized that it was this man that used to jog around; that is why security-consciousness necessitates that every citizen should be alert and see things beyond their noses now." culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Pastor's Son Who Beheaded A Girl for Rituals Escapes Posted: 14 Aug 2017 03:38 AM PDT A pastor's son identified as Silas Anidi, who allegedly beheaded an 11-year-old girl Aghogho Igbi for ritual purposes in 201, has reportedly escaped from a remand home where he was kept in Sapele area of Delta state. It was reported that Anidi, only son of the General Overseer of God Peculiar Evangelical Ministry in Sapele, was caught by neighbours when he also attempted to kill the deceased sister, Favour aged 13 after his friend in Ghana told him to bring a human head. The suspect was said to be a family friend to the Igbi's and in the course of a visit, beheaded the girl and was about to do same to her sister, Favour, when neighbours nabbed him. HOW TRUE? World To End On September 23... Experts Say They've Matched Bible Dates Posted: 14 Aug 2017 03:38 AM PDT This is not the first time we are hearing from people who think they can preempt God Almighty. A stargazer claims to have "decoded" the Great Pyramid – and discovered it is a "date marker" that reveals when the apocalypse is coming. How true? It claims to match a prophecy foretelling the End of Days in the Bible – and it's next month. As reported by Daily Star, earlier this year, Christian numerologist, David Meade, matched the positions of heavenly bodies with Bible verses, to work out the world will end when a giant planet called Nibiru or Planet X crashes into Earth. His analysis suggested Nibiru will first appear in the sky on September 23, 2017, and crash into the Earth in October. The prediction, made in his book 'Planet X – The 2017 Arrival,' was so compelling it's covered across mainstream media in both the US and UK. A number of Christian fanatics have claimed a rare total solar eclipse that will blanket the US in darkness on August 21 will herald the end of the world – and may be one of the prophesied 10 Biblical plagues. Last week, Daily Star revealed the so-called Great American Total Solar Eclipse also pointed to September 23 as the date Armageddon will start. Mr. Meade showed how the Book of Revelation, in the Bible, warned the "stars in heaven will not show their light" and "the Sun will be darkened " before the apocalypse. Now, the doomsayer has discovered the position of the Great Pyramid also points to exactly the same date – September 23. Mr. Meade said: " It is very strange indeed that both the Great Sign of Revelation 12 and the Great Pyramid of Giza both point us to one precise moment in time – September 20 to 23, 2017. "Is this the end of the Church Age and the transition to the Day of the Lord? There couldn't be two greater witnesses." Reverend Donna Larson, who runs the blog Rapture and End Times , also warned the world will end this year – as did Robert Binnion , who runs the " end of time prophecy website " Nice Timing . - We're waiting for September 23 as we waited for previous dates. It is well with God's children. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
17-yr-old that slit girl’s throat, 22 others escape from Sapele Remand Home | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Aug 2017 03:23 AM PDT A 17-year-old male SAPELE—A 17-year-old male inmate, Silas Anidi, who slit the throat of an 11-year-old girl in 2015, is among 23 inmates that escaped from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Development Remand Home in Sapele. Though the incident was carefully kept away from the public, investigation by Vanguard revealed that the inmates within the age bracket of 14 and 17 years escaped from custody on July 30th and August 2nd in what a staff of the home described as a careful orchestrated escape plot. "The escaped inmates are being held for various capital offences ranging from rape, robbery, murder and burglary," the staff, who spoke on condition of anonymity told Vanguard. The source said: "The routine has always been to open the door of the home for the minors every morning for their daily chores, while two or three of them go to prepare their meal but the female correction officer, Mrs. Esther Micah, somehow took the keys to church and did not return until 11:30 am."Upon her return, 11 of them attacked her and fled through the back fence of the home and of course with only three staff on duty, there was little, they could do."Though three of the escaped inmates were arrested on the same day by members of the vigilante in the area along Sapele/Warri road and brought back to the home, two other inmates escaped the next day when the same correction officer went to open the door for them to have their bath. Security at the home has been very porous while the perimeter fencing at the back of the home has collapsed since last year with the home being in a poor state of neglect.Confirming the escape of the inmates when contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said: "Three of the staff are been investigated and will be charged for negligence of duty." culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
OMG! Sick Man Uses Standing Fan After Hospital Runs Out Of Oxygen In Nigeria Posted: 14 Aug 2017 03:08 AM PDT Same country where people loot as if we have too much money? A sick man had to use a standing fan for his survival after the oxygen in a hospital in Benue state got finished. The staff of Benue State Teaching Service Board identified as Terda Shiejir - was placed on admission in the Accident And Emergency (A&E) ward of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. The man had to improvise after the hospital officials reportedly revealed that they ran out of oxygen yesterday as they said that they were awaiting for new supplies from Abuja. The report shared by Ukan Kurugh This is Terdoo Shiejir a staff of Benue State Teaching Service Board on admission in the Accident And Emergency (A&E) ward of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. He is badly in need of oxygen right now but since yesterday the one he was on (oxygen) finished, the hospital authority said they have ran out of oxygen and their supplier in Abuja has not brought in new supplies. The family asked where they can get oxygen to buy for him,but they were rather told its from Abuja only and can't be gotten in town here. As you can see from the picture, there is a fan blowing him. These are the type of services we get in Nigeria hospitals but funny enough nobody will be held or queried even. Why can't we have an oxygen bank in a state like Benue? We need to do more to save lives in our hospitals else more people will die from simple solutions. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
S*x for Roles: Randy Directors almost made Me Quit Movies – Actress Nkechi Blessing Posted: 14 Aug 2017 03:08 AM PDT Rising Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing, has opened up on some of the challenges she faced as an actress when she first started out in the industry. Speaking with Potpourri, Blessing opened up on her career, life and more. Excepts below: Acting Getting into the movie industry wasn't that easy for me. While in secondary school, I had always wanted to act but I didn't know how to go about it. When I gained admission to the university, I met some friends who were into movies and they told me I have the physical qualities of an actor. After school, I met Kemi Korede who asked if I could act and I said yes. She then featured me in her movie, Omo Bewaji, in 2008. That was the first movie I ever acted in. Later, I met with Emeka Duru, who offered me a role in Emem Isong's movie, Through the Fire. In 2012, I travelled to South Africa on vacation where I met Tope Bali, who was there to shoot a movie. Coincidentally, the blonde hairstyle I was wearing at that time was in sync with a character she was looking to feature in the movie, Kafila Omo Ibadan, which she was shooting. In 2012, the trailer of the movie was released and that was how I became popular. Challenges The earliest challenge I encountered happened when I decided to become a full-time actress and different directors began to make advances to me. At some point, I wanted to give up on my dream of becoming an actress. Due to the pressure I was faced with then, I stopped attending auditions for some time. Apart from that, I haven't really faced many other challenges because in everything that I do, I always put God first. I focus more on my job and I don't leave room for negativity. Movies Honestly, I have lost count of the number of movies that I've featured in, but the most recent one I took part in, Alakada Reloaded, by Toyin Abraham, got me more fans. I got almost the same kind of fame that Omoge Lekki gave me. Personal productions I have produced four movies. Two of them, Omoge Lekki and Fiditi have been released. The others, Church Girls and Don, would be released soon. Being Igbo I am from Abia State, but I am able to speak Yoruba fluently because I grew up in Yoruba land. However, I also act in English movies too. Some of the English movies I've acted in include Unrequited, The Document, Weight of Guilt, When Hell Freezes, among others. Poor pay It's not like we don't get paid but we don't earn big. I'm not in this for the money or fame. I love to act and see myself on the big screen; it's my passion. I get paid what's commensurate with my level for now. I believe when I get to another stage of my career, I will earn better. I don't live above my means and I only show off what I have; I can't go broke trying to look rich. For now, acting is the only thing that I do. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
ASUU Begins Nationwide Indefinite Strike Posted: 14 Aug 2017 02:38 AM PDT The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on indefinite strike. In a memo to lecturers dated August 12, Biodun Ogunyemi, president of the ASUU national strike coordinating committee, said they resolved to go on the strike because the federal government failed to implement its 2009 agreement and 2013 memorandum of understanding (MoU). ASUU highlighted some of the issues that led to the strike as; non-payment of salaries, non-payment of earned academic allowance (EAA), removal of universities staff schools from funding by government and non-implementation of provisions of the 2014 pension reform act with respect to retired professors and their salaries, amongst others. "The national executive council (NEC) of ASUU met at the university of Abuja main campus, Giri, on the 12th of August 2017 to consider the results of a referendum from all branches in a bid to ascertain ways of convincing government to implement outstanding aspects of the 2009 agreement and MoU of 2013," it read. "The result of the referendum showed that an overwhelming majority of the branches of our union voted for the strike. "In the light of the foregoing, and having exhausted all avenues to get government to fully implement the 2009 FGN-ASUU agreement and the 2013 MoU as well as related demands, resolved to embark on a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action commencing Sunday, 13th August 2017." The lecturers were asked not to "teach any course whatsoever" and "not conduct or supervise any examination at any level". culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
"I Want To Go To Heaven" - Ex-President Obasanjo Posted: 14 Aug 2017 02:13 AM PDT Former President Olusegun Obansanjo at the weekend at Apostolic Faith Church said he wants to go heaven and longs to sing among the heavenly host. "I have a friend who will always say that when we get to heaven, we will be exhausted praising God and it will be like a prison and very boring. "But with what I have seen by the choir this afternoon, I will want to go to heaven and join the host to sing. "If this is an example of what praising God in heaven will be like , then I want to be part of it . If what I have seen here is an indication of how heaven will be, I will like go to heaven. "Jesus Christ came to the world to show us the way to salvation and eternal life. We have a good heritage and we have everything to be proud of ." According to NAN, Obasanjo made this remark during the 2017 Camp Meeting Concert by Apostolic Faith Church Choir and Orchestral at the Camp Ground Igbesa in Ogun State. Obasanjo said God could not fix Nigeria except Nigerians invite God into their lives collectively and individually. "We have a lot of things wrong with this country, if all Nigerians are sincere. Nigeria can be fixed by God but we have to invite Him into our lives. What we have to do about this country is in our hands. Police forced me to admit to crime –Robbery suspect | Mr Olumide's Blog Posted: 14 Aug 2017 01:23 AM PDT One Kingsley Ibe, who was arrested by the police in Niger State for alleged robbery, has denied the crime, saying he was being coerced by the police to make a confessional statement. Northern City News learnt that the 25-year-old, who lives in Gwazuma, in the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, was arrested by the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad on the allegation that he connived with other hoodlums to rob one Yusuf Isah of Gauraka, Sabo-Wuse council. The police claimed that Ibe and his gang members carted away Gauraka's properties including a 49-inch LG television, a 32-inch Panasonic television, four wrist watches, one Techno handset, one Samsung galaxy S3 handset, one Infinix Note 4 phone, jewelry, one Jingcheng motorcycle and N200,000 cash. But Ibe vehemently denied being a robber, saying he would rather die than admit to a crime he did not commit, insisting that the police knew the real culprits but refused to go after them. "I don't know why police are keeping me here. I am not an armed robber and they cannot force me to be one. It is better I die for the offence I committed than to die for what I know nothing about. He said that it was because he had no one to speak for him that the police were plotting to implicate him. But the police spokesperson in the state, Comfort Olawumi, said the suspect was sighted by the complainant's sibling, Usman Ithado, with the stolen motorcycle, adding that he was given a chase before he was apprehended by police operatives. She added that the police recovered the motorcycle from the suspect, noting that he would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded. culled from MPNB Mr Olumide's Blog |
How To Stop Envy From Eating Away At Your Heart Posted: 14 Aug 2017 01:08 AM PDT The words just tumbled out of her smiling mouth. And though they were happy words, I felt anything but happy. "I'm going to have a baby." There she was pregnant with her third, and try as we did, I could not get pregnant again. And why is it that when you want a baby, it feels like they are everywhere? Envy. We've all felt it... And even though we try our best, it's hard being happy when we are fighting off the green monster of envy. Envy is something a lot of people struggle with. But how do we deal with the green eyed monster? First of all, how is your heart? God tells us to weep with those who weep, and rejoice with those who rejoice. Read Romans 12:15. Are you able to rejoice with those who receive what you want? How do you feel scrolling through the newsfeed on Facebook? Do you hit "Like" or seethe within? Or how about those Christmas newsletters we sometimes get through the mail? Are you weeping or rejoicing? Sometimes we do anything but rejoice. Envy suffocates wishing someone well, because we keep thinking that should be us. Contentment is possible. Often when we feel the envy coming on, we need to refocus. We need to remember what God has blessed us with each day, and stop comparing ourselves to others. No one wins with comparisons. Read John 21:22. When the disciples started asking Jesus about their fellow disciple, Jesus did not thank them for bringing it to his attention. Instead, he said, "You, follow me." So often we're concerned about what is happening in the yards of other people. We need to tend to our own yards. God is redeeming those of us who have put our trust in Jesus Christ. Day by day, he is working on our characters. The end result will be looking like Jesus. God chooses how he works with us. Read Isaiah 55:8-9. God's thoughts are not our thoughts, and consequently his ways also differ. And yet, we continue to try and figure out with our finite minds why others seem to have the longer end of the stick. We try to take on what was never ours to take on, figuring out what God is doing. And dare I say, sometimes we even let God know that he is not being fair. We stand there with hands on our hips—the very hands God made. I can think of one person this pleases—the enemy of our souls. He loves discord, he loves dissension, and he loves it when we are discontent. Envy and love do not coexist. If we are envious of our brothers, we are not loving them, or God. Satan knows that. He is ever ready to point out anything that will cause us to complain, and then he will list all the reasons we have a right to be angry. To be dissatisfied. Can't we learn from the one who did the very same thing? Satan was once the most beautiful angel (Isaiah 14:12-14). But that was not enough for him. And who was he comparing himself to? The mighty one, the everlasting God. And as Satan looked at him, instead of awe, Satan was discontent. Serving God was not enough—he wanted God's position, so God cast him out of heaven. What can we do when we are envious? 1. Thank God for what you do have. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Is it a car you want that you cannot afford yet? Then thank God for the one you have that is still running. Thank him that you can get it fixed, yet again. 2. Praise God for who he is. Get your eyes off of what is physical and seek out the one who is invisible, the one over all. Praise God for being God, for being sovereign. Praise him for being the great provider. Read Philippians 4:19. Praise him for his timing which is perfect. If you have a legitimate need, he will provide. He's promised. 3. Rejoice with those who rejoice. The more we practice, the easier it will become. And when you feel a shade of green coming on, go to God. Tell him how you feel. He can change the hearts he made. 4. Give something away. This may seem like a stretch, I know. But thinking of someone else will get your eyes off of you. Ask God how you might be able to meet someone's need. Warning: You may feel like you're going to break, but you won't. It's just some part of you that God will sand away. A part you don't need anymore. If we take steps to follow what God asks us to do, it's a win/win. We will grow in our walk. We will exercise our muscles of faith. And lastly, others will see in us, a glimpse of our Savior. And deep down, you'll know, you pleased God. And he'll rejoice with your obedience. [written by Anne Peterson, speaker and author] culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |

Church Killing In Ozubulu: 3 Suspects Arrested Are Rich But Without Known Source Of Income Posted: 13 Aug 2017 11:43 PM PDT The Police already have in their custody three suspects linked to the Sunday massacre at St Philip's Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State. Strangely, the suspects are said to be very wealthy but with no identifiable means of income. Police spokesman, Moshood Jimoh, who confirmed the arrest however declined to reveal the identities of the suspects. He spoke as the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Dr. Hilary Okeke said the Church has forgiven the brains behind the attack. Okeke, who received a presidential delegation during a sympathy visit in Nnewi, however said the forgiveness does not in any way preclude government from fishing out the perpetrators and bringing them to book. Jimoh also said the Police will not dignify any suspect with the term high profile, pointing out that anyone who violates the law of the land is liable to be arrested and charged accordingly. "The arrested suspects have no identifiable means of income and they completely have no explanation as to their means of livelihood," Jimoh told The Nation in Abuja. "No doubt, when people do things relating to the offence of drug-running, they do not have a recognized means of livelihood. "I would not want to say that they are 'big men' because anybody can claim to be big but once you commit crime, even if people in the society say you are a big man, it is the duty of the police to hold you and take you before the law. The process is not a respecter of anyone's social standing. "They are leading us further in our investigation into the crime. What happened was a vicious and condemnable act in a place of worship. It is criminal and reprehensible to go and attack worshippers and kill people, no matter what issue prompted any feud. "All the perpetrators of such crimes would definitely be arrested and prosecuted. I want to assure Nigerians that whether they are in Nigeria or any other country, the Nigeria police and Interpol will get them anywhere they are. "We will get anybody who had a hand in committing this offence; anyone who participated in any way and anyone who gives custody to the perpetrator or hides him has flouted the law. Such a person would be culpable. "The process of the law would be firmly followed without compromise towards ensuring that we bring the criminals behind the Ozubulu incident to justice." Recall that unknown gunmen had on August 6 invaded the church during morning Mass and opened fire on worshippers, leading to the death of 13 people. culled from Olu famous Mr Olumide's Blog |
