Rich Parents Pretend To Be Dead To Trick Their Son Who Planned To Kill Them

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 12:14 AM PST

May the good Lord deliver us from the enemy within.
A wealthy couple faked their own assassination to snare their evil son who had tried to pay a hitman to bump them off, a The Sun UK report has shown.

The 22-year-old man had asked undercover cops posing as hitmen to kill his parents and ten-year-old sister to get his inheritance. His parents then completed the sting by posing for photos that appeared to show the hit had been carried out.

An officer played the role of the hired assassin in the Russian resort of Sochi.

The son had instructed the "contract killer" how and where his family should be murdered.

He even drew a floor plan and indicated where security cameras were placed, and how to avoid guard dogs.

He agreed a fee with the undercover policeman for killing all three of his relatives. He even demanded to see pictures of his slain parents.

The man's mother and father played dead for the police mock-up photographs, complete with blood gushing from "fatal" knife wounds.

The "assassin" later arranged a meeting in a Mercedes and showed the gruesome photographs to the man.

No pictures were released of the man's sister and it is unclear if she took part in the set-up.

After seeing the pictures, the man expressed "delight" and agreed to pay the promised £38,000 fee as soon as he had collected his inheritance.

When armed cops then arrested him he immediately confessed, according to police in Krasnodar region.

It was later claimed that the evil son had twice plotted to kill them previously.

A police source said: "He wanted to get rid of parents because they were not giving him money.

"Before looking for a killer he tried to get rid of his relatives twice. He was looking on the internet to find out how to carry out the murders.

"The criminal wanted to put pills in the kettle to poison his parents but his father found out something was wrong.

"Then the son planned to break a thermometer in his parents' car so that they were poisoned with mercury vapours."

During interrogation the young man allegedly said: "I had been planning it for several months.

"I'm so done with them, they didn't understand me, so I found a contract killer."

His parents "cannot believe he could do this", said police.

His father runs a major education institution in Sochi and the family have a large house and car as well as savings.

The man faces 15 years in jail if convicted of preparing the contract killings of his family.

Buhari Reportedly Furious With Governor El-Rufai

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 12:04 AM PST

The crisis in Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which culminated in the demolition of the factional secretariat of the party by the state government has further put a dent to the efforts by President Muhammadu Buhari to bring aggrieved members of the party on the same page ahead of the 2019 elections.

A member of the party's National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke with Daily Independent on Wednesday said the presidency is displeased with the actions taken by Governor Nasir el-Rufai which it believes will further worsen the APC crisis and make the work of the reconciliation panel headed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu more difficult, if not an impossible one.

He added that the presidency believes that as someone who is regarded as one of the key loyalists of President Buhari, el-Rufai should not be seen as "a clog in the wheel of progress and developments of the party especially in Kaduna, the residence of the president".

A source said the presidency is particularly peeved that while el-Rufai, who was persuaded to contest for the governorship position of Kaduna State by President Buhari may not bother about seeking or winning reelection, he should consider the interest of the president who will soon announce his intention to seek another four-year mandate.

He also added that just like it did in the case between Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State and his predecessor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidency may summon the warring parties to Aso Villa with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

"As a member of this party, I must tell you that the presidency is unhappy with what is happening in Kaduna State and what they perceived as the insensitiveness of the state governor towards handling the issues he has with his rivals in Kaduna State.

"The president has a reason for setting up the reconciliation committee headed by Asiwaju Tinubu. Given what has happened in the past, many thought the former Lagos governor will reject it but he accepted to undertake the task in the interest of the party and respect for the president. He has already set the ball in motion and is already meeting with the affected stakeholders and we are seeing the positive results.

"We expect Governor el-Rufai to have done the same no matter how provoked he may be. Yesterday's (Tuesday) action has further widened the gulf between stakeholders in the Kaduna APC family and it will be extremely difficult for the Tinubu committee to bring them on the same page.

"The issue has gone beyond Kaduna State. Don't forget that the National Assembly has already waded into the matter. Before you know it, this may mar all the progress we have made so far and the election is already here.

"Here is a man who never showed interest in becoming the governor of Kaduna State. The president convinced him to run and to demonstrate his commitment, he went to Kaduna and raised his hands. Recently, the governor also said the president has endorsed his bid for another term. We expect him to also support the president's reelection bid too not just by words but through actions.

"While he may have his genuine reasons for pulling down the structure, they believe he should have exercised some restraint as such actions will not only exacerbate the crisis, but it may also affect the fortunes of the party in the state", he said.

2019: Buhari Tells APC Governors To Give Him More Time

Posted: 22 Feb 2018 11:39 PM PST

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening told state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress to give him more time to decide whether or not he would seek re-election in 2019.

He told the governors this at a meeting they had with him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the meeting held behind closed doors.

Okorocha said the President promised them that he would soon address the nation and the caucus of the party on the matter.

The governor said, "We discussed so many issues that affect the nation, our party and Mr. President's ambition to run for the 2019 presidential election.

"It is the desire of the governors that Mr. President should run for this exalted office given his performance in the last two years. We believe that if he continues, Nigeria will be better for it.

"Anyhow, Mr. President, in his usual manner, has requested that we give him time and that he will address the nation and the caucus of the party very soon.

"So, we should be full of expectations that Mr. President will make officially known to Nigerians his intentions but we hope that his response will be in line with what the governors are thinking."

That was the second time Buhari would be meeting the APC governors in the last one week.

The governors had last Friday met with him in his country home in Daura, Katsina State.

Although it was believed that the meeting had to do with the politics of 2019, Okorocha had told reporters that the governors visited Buhari to commiserate with him on the death of two members of his extended family.

The APC governors who met with Buhari had earlier in the day joined other governors from other political parties and former Presidents and Heads of Government for a meeting of the Council of State.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, among other political and religious leaders had asked Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

5 Subtle Ways Demons From Your Past Can Affect You

Posted: 22 Feb 2018 07:44 AM PST

1. You focus on what has been done to you.
Focusing on what has been done to us keeps the experiences alive in our mind, stirring up emotions, reviving hurt, fanning anger and hunger for revenge, as well as making us see ourselves as "a victim." Thus, we label ourselves as a casualty, a person duped or tricked, a loser and fool, quarry for sacrifice, a scapegoat for another's sins. Putting on those identity markers is crushing to spirit, and can keep people from taking the first frightening step toward recovery.

But if you start seeing yourself as "survivors" — someone who suffered greatly, but came through with body and soul alive, a hero who found strength to cope and rise above the evil done to you — you will move ahead.

2. You focus on what you've done.
Focusing on what we've done often fills us with shame and guilt. I know this was the case with me when I spent years looking back at my abortion and the circumstances around it. Though not yet a Christian, I knew and smothered the truth in my heart that I was doing wrong. The "solution to a problem" brought shame and guilt which grew even stronger when I married and became pregnant. My husband and I were excited from the moment we knew I carried a child. When I suffered a miscarriage, we grieved. It struck me then that the baby I aborted was as much a child as the one I wanted. Celebrated from conception or not, a human life is a human life.

How did I overcome the devastating feelings of shame and guilt? 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I confessed, I grieved, and I attended a nine-week postabortion class through a local pregnancy counseling center with other women suffering the same feelings I was. We came out the other side healed. I can testify that God keeps His Word or I would have carried the heavy, heart-crushing secret to my grave.

3. You rely on conditioned coping mechanisms. Relying on conditioned coping mechanisms is yet another way we hold ourselves back. I have loved ones who are recovering or active alcoholics. I learned unhealthy ways to cope, alternately mothering, manipulating, managing, and playing the martyr. I knew what was wrong with the alcoholic. He drank a substance that altered his personality. It took time to realize I had a problem every bit as destructive: trying to play God over another person's life.

What was the answer? I acknowledged I was powerless. I needed to stop trying to fix things and allow God to take over. Continuing to love the person, I learned not to take responsibility for another person's life. This lesson applies to many situations in life. God is God and I am not. Jesus calls me to self-examination, not to condemnation of others. I am responsible for my thoughts and actions, no one else's. My work is to realign my life to His will. We all have the sin nature we inherited from Adam and Eve, the desire to control our lives — as well as others. Trusting and relying on God is essential to experiencing life abundant out of what life throws at us.

4. You try to overcome and heal in your own strength. Trying to overcome and heal in our own strength is one of the more common ways we hold ourselves back. We set our minds on forgetting and moving ahead, sure we can be or do better and make all things right in our own strength. When we find ourselves right back in a similar situation or relationship, we are surprised and demoralized.

A journey through 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles in the Bible shows how a nation repeats history. The same is true of individuals. We are not at fault for what has been done to us, but if we fail to examine the past honestly and follow God's instructions on how to be healed and live a whole and fruitful life, we are complicit in repeating (practicing) the sinful behavior. Holding on to the past often skews everything in our lives, from our relationships with other people to our relationship with God. We are all ultimately responsible for the choices we make.

5. You set up idols.
Setting up idols can be an unconscious or conscious way of replacing God. Idols used to be carved of wood or stone. Now, we idolize celebrities, sports figures, our body image, sex, money, technology. Wherever we spend most of our time and money is our idol. Inevitably, idols crumble. Celebrities and sports figures change with the season. Our bodies grow weak and wrinkled. Economies shift. Money evaporates. Possessions can be stolen or lost in a fire. That new iPhone or entertainment system is obsolete within months of buying it.

Idols offer empty promises. When tragedy or some catastrophic event comes, most people know instinctively to cry out to God. Only He is faithful.

The question is:
Will we stand firm and abide in Jesus or waver and fall with the first breeze? If we stand firm and seek Him, He will make sure we find Him. And when we do, we will experience the fulfillment of what we long for: real, life-changing, eternal-lasting love.
