How I Was Saved By A Drunkard From Sleeping In A Police Cell - Man Shares Story

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 03:29 AM PST

A Nigerian identified as Akande Olutobi, has narrated how he was saved by a drunkard and drug addict from sleeping in a police cell during his undergraduate days.

The business development personnel shared his story in a bid to encourage people never to look down on anyone, no matter their condition. Read his story...

"I was saved by a drunkard/drug addict from sleeping in a cell during my undergraduate days. He was always a subject of ridicule by all But I would always greet him each time I pass by his compound by prostrating(as a typical Yoruba boy).

He was always amazed to see someone still greet him with such courtesy and would always call me his friend He even promised I would marry his youngest daughter.

Someone was accused of committing a great crime in my hostel and this led the police to arrest all of us..

It was certain we are all sleeping in the cell that night. My friend rushed down to the station when he heard our hostel was ransacked, we never knew he was a retired police officer I was already crying and sweating like a Christmas chicken waiting to be slaughtered.

But behold, I saw my friend coming he was ready to devour the officers for laying hands on his beloved friend. They had to calm him down and ordered my release immediately. My other friends who laughed at me for always greeting him had to sleep in the cell for almost two weeks.

Please don't look down on anyone, they might just turn out to be the messiah your life needs at a point in time. What determines your escape during a trail time might be the good deeds you enacted during the rosy ones."

Possible Ways To Not Lose Your Work Visa

Posted: 11 Feb 2018 09:29 PM PST

If you are currently on a work visa or you are thinking about applying for one, you need to be aware that there are certain conditions you need to maintain in order not to lose your pass to work in the country.

In line with this, Jumia Travel highlights possible ways your visa can be cancelled.

Don't engage in work other than what is allowed by your visa
In most cases, work visas are obtained for a specific job. Your employer will complete the application with you, and your visa will allow you to work for this person or company. If you take another job during your stay, your work visa will be terminated.

Be careful of other intentions
Work visas are considered as temporary visas and are granted to individuals who have no intentions of settling or absconding. If there are any reasons to believe that you obtained a work visa for the purpose of settling or absconding, you could lose your visa.

Don't lie about your qualifications to obtain the visa
Some work visas are only granted to workers who have a particular degree or experience in a  recognised field. If you lied about your education background or qualifications to get a work visa and you are caught, your visa will probably be cancelled.

Be sure to keep your job
Most work visas are valid as long as you keep your job. You might be able to maintain a valid visa if you can find another job in the same field and get your new employer to sponsor you but your current work visa will not remain valid if you quit your job or get fired.

Don't commit a crime
If you commit a crime and are charged for it, your work visa could be suspended. This usually depends on how serious the crime is. If you are convicted of a felony, you should just forget about your work visa.

Don’t vote for politicians above 60 years – Catholic Bishop

Posted: 11 Feb 2018 09:29 AM PST

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Anambra State, Most Revd. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has asked Nigerians not to vote for politicians above 60 years of age in the 2019 elections.

Describing such politicians as a "burden on the growth and development of the country," the bishop said they ought to have quit active politics at such an age.

Speaking on Sunday in Awka, Anambra State, the Prelate wondered why candidates who retired from service would want to pilot the affairs of the country.

"I can't understand why retirees would want to seek political offices. Such people are a burden to growth.

"I urge Nigerians to stop electing such people. 2019 is crucial in our history. We should vote wisely; we should avoid voting for retirees."

He urged christians to ensure active participation during the 2019 general election, just as he condemned Christians who speak ill of government but would fail to participate in election processes.

He insisted that the only way to vote out the wrong people during elections was to be fully involved, such as by obtaining the permanent voter card and casting one's vote during elections.

The bishop cautioned Christians who sell their votes for a token, adding that such people should be ready to endure the consequences.

He said Christians were entrusted with the responsibility of taking the lead in positive directions, tasking them to eschew nonchalant attitude.

Applauding the recent move by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission and Independent National Electoral Commission to check excessive spending by politicians during elections, the cleric said if implemented, it would restore sanity in the electoral process.
