I will remarry once I find true love.”- Tonto Dikeh | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 03:23 AM PDT

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh's first marriage may have crashed. That doesn't mean she has given up on love or marriage .Speaking to Premium Times she said

"Love is a beautiful thing and love is exquisite. So, of course, I will remarry once I find true love."
On her acting career, she said,
"I was off the scene for a long time but I returned with a bang. I stared in a yet to be released film titled Celebrity Marriage and it will be out soon. I'm all fired up because I'm involved in the movie. I don't want to be involved in the acting like I used to be in the past. I have shot a film in a day, in the past but not any longer. I'm not looking for popularity so I am just trying to stay relevant by starring in very few quality movies. My family proposes that I shoot five quality movies in a year. I think three good movies in a year is fair enough. And that is what I have been looking for. That way, I can have time for my child and other people because I'm not just a mother of one but I am a mother of nations"
On her glow, she said
. "Well, firstly I am born again and when you have God, you just radiate. So all the glow is from within; you don't fake God's glow. You also can't fake God's glory because it overwhelms you. I don't know how to say what I want to say but when God steps into a situation or your life he elevates you and makes you see things in a different light. So, the glow you see is all God. I am a radical for Christ"
On becoming an evangelist, she said,
"Yes I will, before I became an entertainer I was close to becoming an evangelist but I backslid. But not to say anything, I am back with God. I don't know where God is taking me to. But if it is the pulpit, I am ready."

Working Together In The Body Of Christ

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 03:21 AM PDT

I want to start this post by asking you a question. Do you know your place in the body of Christ? Meaning, where you're called to serve? If your answer is no, then I urge you to pray and ask God to show you where to serve, who to serve, and how to serve well. And if you know your place, then I'll ask you this. Are you flowing in it or are you stagnated?

These are essential questions for today's time, because Jesus is coming back soon. And we need to be found working as one to bring more souls into the kingdom, before He comes.

This is not a selfish race. If you look at a natural race, everybody's running. But everyone has their own lane. No one's jumping on top of the other person, or trying to trip someone up on purpose (hopefully not). Remember, everybody's trying to get to the finish line and finish well. That's the same way it is in the kingdom. We all have our place in the body of Christ and we all have our own area of calling. And there's no room for competition, jealousy, strife, division, unforgiveness, bitterness, contention, or vain glory. These things will only disqualify us.

That's why Ephesians 4:31-32 warns and instructs us to, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tender-hearted, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." We all need forgiveness. We all need mercy. And we all need to be able to extend it to those whom we work with. So, if there is anything of the sort happening as you're pressing to do God's work, then I beckon you to get it right with God and the other person. Don't let it fester, be a stumbling block, stagnate you, or be a hindrance to your effectiveness. Remember, we are one and we are a team.

Another thing that we have to watch out for is the enemy's tactics with pinning us against one another or comparing ourselves to each other while we serve. This is a danger zone! I'm reminded of what Paul said when he was talking to the church of God in Corinth in 1 Corinthians 3:5-6 & 8-9, "Who is Apollos and who is Paul, that we should be the cause of such quarrels? Why, we're only servants. Through us God caused you to believe. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. My job was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God, not we, who made it grow…The one who plants and the one who waters work as a team with the same purpose. Yet, they will be rewarded individually, according to their own hard work. We work together as partners who belong to God…" (NLT)

*Wow! So do you see this? There is no need for competition. Each person has their own part to play. And when we do what we're called to do together, God brings forth the increase in other people's lives for His glory. This is unity! And then guess what? He then rewards us individually for it! Amazing!

So, let's do a quick recap. Watch out for competition, unforgiveness, strife, division, or bitterness. Don't let it get you! And don't allow the devil to destroy the good work that you're doing by allowing jealousy to creep into your heart. Choose to obey God's word on this oryou'll only disqualify yourself and make life miserable for you and those around you. Quote, memorize, meditate, and pray this Scripture in Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me." (My theme Scripture)

I'll close with this. Do your part and work together as one and in unity in the body of Christ. Philippians 2:2 says, "Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose." (NLT) We need this today. So let's serve. Let's love. Let's forgive. Let's show others Christ within us. And let's get the job done together so that we can someday hear those precious words from Matthew 25:21 which says, "Well done, my good and faithful servant…" ;-)

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let's be ready from the Inside Out!

Reasons Your Smartphone May Become Unresponsive

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 02:26 AM PDT

You just bought a new smartphone, you can't seem to control your excitement. However, few months down the line, your beloved smartphone becomes slow and unresponsive over time. There are many reasons why this happens. In line with this, Jumia Travel shares 5 of these reasons.

The OS Upgrades
If you bought your device a few years back, it may be running on Android KitKat or iOS 7. From time to time upgrades of these apps are released with a certain set of hardware specs which may not be compatible with your phone. This may affect the speed of your device.

Apps running in the background
Background apps can also cause your phone to slow down because the running apps are taking space. Hence, make it a habit to always close your apps if they are not in use.

Memory Degradation
Smartphones run on a flash memory. When the phone memory is full, your phone gets slower. Do not forget to intermittently clean your phone memory.

Higher expectations
Sometimes, after looking at several high-end smartphones, we expect our phones to perform better. You can't compare Galaxy S3 with Galaxy S8. So, we should learn to manage our expectations or simply buy another device.

App updates
Apps can be transformed from lightweight to heavyweight over time due to updates. Developers are constantly releasing updates and every new update brings new features, which ends up taking most part of your RAM and CPU.

7 Habits To Help You Fight Comparison

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 01:21 AM PDT

"If only" are two of the deadliest words in a Christian's vocabulary. If only I looked like her. If only I had as much money as him. If only my kids were as well-behaved as theirs. If only I could speak, work, cook, travel, think, do, be like someone else.

We are plagued by comparison.
We compare our bodies, our jobs, our families, our skills, our stuff, our intellects, in an ever-increasing desire for complete satisfaction. We want to be attractive, successful, and happy. So we measure ourselves against the people around us. But instead of resulting in contentment, our comparison delivers compulsive jealousy, pride, and shame.

We envy those who are "better" than us, and we look down on those who are "worse" than us. And once we've started comparing ourselves, we slide into a bitterly insatiable cycle. The more we compare ourselves, the more we need to compare ourselves. It's an addiction. We're on a quest for acceptance and joy, but are paralyzed by the pressure to look, do, and be better than the people around us.

Because of this, we are distracted from our purpose, mission, and need to pursue holiness. This is why comparison is so deadly.

Comparison Is Anti-Gospel
But comparison isn't just unhealthy for Christians; it's downright antithetical to the faith we profess. The gospel is a message of radical acceptance—but it starts with recognizing we are not okay. We're not beautiful, worthy, successful, perfect, or better than anyone else. We're all sinners, every one of us. But in Christ, God has accepted us. He cleansed us, clothed us, saved us, changed us, loved us, adopted us—and he fulfills us.

As Tim Keller famously said,
The gospel is the good news of gracious acceptance…Christians who trust in Christ for their acceptance with God, rather than in their own moral character, commitment, or performance, are simul iustus et peccator – simultaneously sinful yet accepted. We are more flawed and sinful than we ever dared believe, yet we are more loved and accepted than we ever dared hope at the same time.
The God of the universe has accepted us! Why would we try to find our value in being better than another human? I believe the search for acceptance is ultimately at the root of our comparison. We want to be better than others so we can be loved more. We think, "If I was prettier, smarter, wealthier, a better parent, spouse, employee, I would be loved."

But we have been accepted, and nothing we do can change that. Yet comparison rejects the humble glory of the gospel and says, "No, that's untrue. I need to work harder."
Seven Habits to Help You Fight Comparison

So how do we get out of this self-destructive trap? How do we break the cycle? Ultimately, we embrace our identity as children of God, wholly accepted and loved. But how do we get to that place?

First, we have to recognize that it's not an overnight cure or a magical mental shift. Instead, change comes from intentionally cultivating holy habits that fight the lure of comparison.

Here are seven of these holy habits to pursue:

1. Feast on gospel-truth.
Get in God's Word and marinate your mind in gospel-truth. Read and reflect on and apply what you read. Get your strength and sustenance for each day from this living, active book.
2. Look for your comparison, and confess it.
Start intentionally looking for what triggers your comparison. Are there regular rhythms or moments when you struggle with it? Identify them, notice them, and repent of them. Recognize comparison for the sin it is, and run from it.

3. Surround yourself with humble teachers.
Listen to the people who are not marked by insecurity, comparison, and envy. Take counsel from the humble. Surround yourself with those who are generous and big-hearted and who love others deeply.

4. Read books that challenge your self-focus.
As I've struggled with my tendency to compare myself to others, two books (after the Word of God) have hugely helped me. The first is New Morning Mercies, a daily gospel devotional by Paul Tripp, and the second is The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness by Tim Keller. Both of these books recognize that we humans have a self-focus problem and seek to re-orient our perspectives by giving us practical (and kind) help in pursuing humility.

5. Train yourself to love better.
Instead of using people as measuring sticks against yourself, take steps to treat them as image-bearing individuals. Serve them. Pray for them. Do good to them. Encourage them. Give to them. Sacrifice for them. And see your attitude toward them change.

6. Cultivate gratitude.
We compare ourselves because we are discontent. Fight comparison by nurturing daily thankfulness. Start noticing small mercies. Include specific times of gratitude in your prayer time. Pay attention to all the ways God is showing his grace to you.

7. Remind yourself of your identity in Christ.
In other words, preach the gospel of acceptance in Christ to yourself. You are fully known and fully loved by your Creator God, and nothing can change that. As you seek to combat comparison, rejoice in the gospel. This is the only thing that has the power to break the chains of jealousy, pride, shame, and self-focus, and free us to live satisfied, content, and happy in Jesus.

Praying In The Powerful Name Of Jesus

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 12:51 AM PDT

"In that day you will say: 'Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted'" - (Isaiah 12:4).

Dear intercessors,
Praying in the name of Jesus is powerful because when we pray in His name, we pray with His authority. God promises to answer whatever we ask in His name according to His will. This is why we must know the will of God in order to pray with the authority of Jesus. This truth is wonderful because we have the assurance that He hears our prayers. Through prayer in His name we shall make known among the nations what He has done. Have you taken advantage of this glorious promise in your own life circumstances?

John 16:23-24 says:
"In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete."
A few years ago my husband, Norm, had an opportunity to test this promise at a movie theater with his nephews. Lord of the Rings was an exciting movie, but right in the middle of it, a teenage boy stopped breathing. Those in the theater could hear the agonizing cry of a father pleading for his son to start breathing. He cried out with all his heart, "David, breathe! David, breathe!" But David just lay there without moving, without breathing.

The movie stopped abruptly, and people in the theater began to fear and panic. The atmosphere was extremely tense. Not knowing exactly what to do, Norm walked right over to where the boy was lying motionless. He then stooped down, and with an act of faith, he laid his hands on David and quietly said, "In the name of Jesus, breathe." Suddenly David came to life and began to breathe! God had answered believing prayer.

There is power in the name of Jesus when we link our faith with heaven.

On a more humorous note, the news reporter, Paul Harvey, told the story of a three-year-old boy at the grocery store with his mother. She sternly told him before entering the store,"No chocolate chip cookies, so don't even ask!" In the store she put him in the little child's seat in the cart, and they wheeled down the aisles. He was quiet until he got to the cookie aisle. He saw those delicious chocolate chip cookies, stood up and said, "Mom, can I have the chocolate chip cookies?" With a strong voice she said to him,"I told you not to even ask. No!"

He sat down. They went down the aisles but later had to come back to the cookie aisle again. He asked for them again. She told him,"Sit down and be quiet. I said no."Finally arriving at the checkout lane, the little boy knew it was his last chance. He had to do something quick. So he stood up in his seat and shouted as loud as he could,"In the name of Jesus, may I have some chocolate chip cookies?"

Everyone around him began to laugh and applaud that little boy. And because of the generosity of the other shoppers, the little boy and his mother left the grocery store with twenty-three boxes of chocolate chip cookies! He was very happy. God loves to answer persistent prayers that are prayed in the name of Jesus. This may be a funny story but let's not forget the message. There is an authority attached to using the name of Jesus.

What does it mean to have the authority of Jesus?
Isn't this something that can revolutionize our faith and give us great boldness and confidence in our prayers? Too often we pray very weak prayers because our eyes are on the impossibilities. In reality the God of the universe, the victorious Savior of man, is standing with us in strength and power. His name is a strong tower and a fortress that all the forces of darkness cannot withstand nor overcome. He can do anything!

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe" (Proverbs 18:10).

Let this verse stimulate your faith to believe in the greatness and power of the name of Jesus in your own prayer life. You will touch heaven and change earth with your prayers when you pray in the name of Jesus.

What It Means to Pray in Jesus' Name
"The name of Jesus is the gateway through which true prayers must enter heaven. His name is the 'pass key' that opens heaven's account." Eddie and Alice Smith
We pray with Jesus' authority - We acknowledge His divinity and Calvary's victory when we pray with His authority. We draw from His heavenly bank account when we pray in His name.

"You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" - (John 14:14).

We pray in His place and for His glory - We pray in accordance with all that He is, and according to His Word and character.

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father"
- (John 14:13).

We live out our lives and bring forth our requests in His name - He will answer prayer when we live for Him and pray in His name.

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him" - (Colossians 3:17).

We pray in the power of His name - We pray with faith because we pray in the power of His name. We know and experience in increasing measure the reality of answered prayers prayed in His name.

"By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong" - (Acts 3:16).

We get His assistance by using His name - Jesus comes to our aid when we call upon His name. He brings salvation and delivers. He sets free through the use of His name.

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" - (Romans 10:13).

We remind ourselves of what His name represents. We claim God's promises in Scripture and understand the authority inherent in His name.

"O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens" - (Psalm 8:1).

We pray in relationship with Jesus - Our relationship with Jesus grows in strength as we experience His love and faithfulness in prayer. We pray on the basis of our relationship with Him when we pray in His name.

"Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness" - (Psalm 115:1).

Several years ago I spent ten long days at the hospital while my father had open-heart surgery. Four days after heart surgery, he began to bleed internally and had to quickly go in for another operation. In the waiting room I prayed in the name of Jesus that the bleeding would stop, and it did. The operation was successful, and my father just had his 91st birthday!

Does God answer prayers in the name of Jesus? Yes. God had saved my father's life. The name of Jesus is all-powerful. Let me assure you that the power of the name of Jesus meant much to us at that critical time.

Let us never forget that the name of Jesus is the key that opens heaven's account. It brings forth His mighty power in our daily lives. As we pray in the coming weeks, let's remember what it means to pray in His name and realize the authority we have in prayer. We are touching heaven with our prayers.

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well"
- (Mark 16:17-18).

Black Death group kidnapped model and put her on sale for publicity | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 08 Aug 2017 12:38 AM PDT

A group that calls itself "Black Death" accused of stuffing a British model into a suitcase and holding her hostage for six days tried to put a positive media spin on the ordeal and her captors.

Authorities investigating the alleged kidnapping of model Chloe Ayling, 20, in Italy last month said her kidnappers told her exactly what to say about the group upon her release.

A letter to Ayling found on a suspect's computer said Ayling
"agreed to sneak a pre-determined set of information into the media, and we will expect to see evidence that has been done in near future," according to The Independent.

The letter, written in English, laid out a series of demands made of Ayling upon her release. The note also suggested that the kidnapping was intended to be used as a publicity event for the group.

The letter warned that anything Ayling said publicly in the wake of the kidnapping would be monitored.

"You have been treated fairly, with respect and we expect to hear exactly the same about us in return," the letter said.
The letter said it had been a "mistake" to take Ayling into custody.

The letter also demanded Ayling pay $50,000 in bitcoin within a month.

This may explain her latest interview where she claimed she was not assaulted despite sharing a bed with arrested suspect, Lukasz Herba as he guarded her.

The 20-year-old told police:
"He never sexually molested me or asked for sexual favours because Black Death prohibited or severely punished members who touched kidnapped girls."
And she claimed Herba allowed her to shower and gave her a clean T-shirt and underwear every day.

Officials said they could not verify the authenticity of the Black Death group, or that anyone from the group had written the letter.

Ayling said she traveled to Milan for a July 11 photo shoot. After her arrival, Ayling said, she was abducted by men who injected her with a tranquilizer, put a pillowcase over her head, handcuffed her and stuffed her in a suitcase that they crammed into the trunk of a car.

Authorities said her captors were trying to get $300,000 for her online until she told them she had a 2-year-old child.

Governor Willie Obiano, who visited scene of the attack had promised that investigations would commence immediately to bring the perpetrators to book.

Giving an account of the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, said
gunmen went into the church during an early morning mass and shot sporadically at worshippers. He further explained that the attack was not unconnected to what he described as gang violence between some indigenes of the state.

"Information further revealed that this is not unconnected to a kind of a 'gang war' between indigenes of the state – the children of the same village – who are engaged in a warfare outside Nigeria, precisely in South Africa".

According to him, many people were injured in the attack while some of the victims died on their way to the hospital.

Reacting to the incident, President Muhammadu Buhari also condemned the attack, describing it as an unspeakable sacrilege.
