Posted: 16 Aug 2017 03:41 AM PDT

A Primary school headmaster, Sule Yusuf, has been remanded in a Katsina prison custody following an allegation that he had sex with a four year old boy.

Yusuf, 57-years old was alleged to have recently committed the offence inside his office at Salihawa Primary School,Tunge-Zuri village in the Musawa local government area of katsina state.

The police told the court that the mother of the victim, Aisha Kabiru reported the incident to the village head of Tungen Zuri, Alhaji Kabir Hussain who in turn reported to the police at the village.

The presiding magistrate told Yusuf that his appearance before her was for cognisance purpose, adding that cases of unnatural offence are "triable" only by high courts. She nonetheless directed that Yusuf be remanded in prison custody until 24,August,2017 when his case would come up before her again "for mention".

Hajiya Dikko said"
This court will not ask you whether the allegation against you is true or false as allegation of unnatural offence is triable by the high court. The case file of your case would be duplicated and a copy sent to Ministry of Justice for legal advice. If a prima facie case is established against you, you will be charged at the high court but if a prima facie case is not established against you, you will be discharged pursuant to section 130(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).You are before this court for cognisance purpose. "
Police prosecutor (Inspector Sani Ado) had earlier told the court that investigation was still in progress on the case.

ASUU Strike: Why FG Will Not Meet Lecturers’ Demands – Presidency

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 03:33 AM PDT

The Presidency said the industrial action declared by ASUU on Monday was totally unnecessary. This was said by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who also indicated that the amount being demanded by the union was unrealizable.

Shehu spoke in an interview on Channels Tv's Sunrise Daily yesterday. He said ASUU leaders were aware of the fact that the current administration inherited the agreements based on which the industrial action was declared.

He said ASUU was also aware that the Federal Government had set up a committee on the matter.

Shehu gave an indication that the President Muhammadu Buhari's government might not be able to meet the huge financial obligation the striking lecturers were demanding since the N850bn debt was more than the total allocation to the Ministry of Education in the 2017 Budget, which he put at N369bn.

"Governments enter into agreements that they can pay for. Ability to pay is a key requirement in going into agreements.

"Since President Buhari assumed office, he has sent words out there in form of a warning to all government institutions that they should not go into negotiations and agreements that they cannot pay for; but get clearance.

"I understand that they are talking about debts owed their members to the tune of N850bn. If I am correct, the entire appropriation for the Ministry of Education for this year is N369bn. So where do they want us to get the money from?

"We have inherited these agreements and we are not running away from them. Government has set up a committee led by (Dr Wale) Babalakin. They are already sitting. Why didn't they sit down and negotiate?

"This strike is totally unnecessary. The issues can be resolved, especially where we have full understanding of where we are coming from. The governments that signed those agreements did not deem it fit to implement because the capacity was not there.

"If they are ready, they can sit down and discuss with the committee that has capable and qualified people as members.

"They want all the problems to go with a wave of the hand. They want all the answers to all their problems at a go. There is an avenue that the government has opened for them for dialogue and it is not closed yet," he said.

Police officers investigated after 11-minute search of woman’s vagina | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 02:43 AM PDT

Two police officers in the US are being investigated for allegedly pulling over a college student and performing a vaginal search on her in a parking lot for 11 minutes.

Charneisha Corley, 23, was stopped in Harris County, Texas for running a stop sign and was told to step out of her car to be frisked after the deputies said they smelled marijuana.

But when they found nothing on her one of the officers "bodyslammed" her onto the ground before opening her legs and pulling her pants off to probe her, the dashcam footage shows.
"I feel like they sexually assaulted me! I really do. I feel disgusted, downgraded, humiliated," she told abc13 television news channel.

The officers, one white male and one black woman, claimed they found half a gram of marijuana – but the charges were later dropped.

Now prosecutors say they have new secret evidence against Ms Corley and have re-opened their investigation after handing over what they say is fresh material to a grand jury.Sam Cammack, Ms Corley's lawyer, released the dashcam footage from the deputies' car of the 11-minute search of his client in the parking lot after prosecutors reopened their case against her.

He said one of the officers can be heard saying in the video that he was determined to find that Ms Corley had drugs on her person in the incident on the night of 20 June, 2015.

"One of the officers on the tape, you could hear him talking to a passenger, who was already in custody in the officer's car, you could hear him telling that individual 'oh we're going to find something, if we have to put our hands on her'," Mr Cammock said.

Porn stars who filmed themselves having sex in a confessional box are cleared of wrongdoing | Mr Olumide's Blog

Porn stars who filmed themselves having sex in a confessional box have been cleared of wrongdoing in Holland - because there are no blasphemy laws.
The grainy film was shot inside St Joseph Church and other areas of the Southern Dutch city of Tilburg earlier this year.
It was later published on an x-rated website owned by Dutch porn star Kim Holland sparking a complaint by the church board.

But to their dismay, the public prosecutor in the nearby city of Breda has now decided that the criminal complaint will be dismissed after ruling there had been 'no punishable offence',Daily Mail reports.

Kim Holland later took the clip offline and apologised to the church.

In the porn film, the church and the confession chair were used to secretly shoot scenes.
According to local media, chief public prosecutor Charles van der Voort explained to pastor Jan van Noorwegen and vice chairman Harrie de Swart of the church board in a personal talk last month that it was impossible to prosecute anyone in the case.
A spokeswoman from the public prosecutor's office said: 'While the recording is very offensive and shows little respect, there is no punishable offence.'

Catholic Priests Ordered To Report Confessions or Be Charged | Mr Olumide's Blog

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 01:08 AM PDT

Catholic priests should face criminal charges if they fail to report allegations of child sex abuse disclosed during confession, according to an Australian inquiry.

The measure was among 85 proposed changes published in a report Monday by the Royal Commission Into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The Catholic Church regards what is said in confession as strictly confidential, and priests face automatic excommunication if they reveal what they have been told by people in their confessions.

Catholic bishops in Australia have said they will fight the measure. Recommendations made by the royal commission will be put to Australian legislators to decide whether they should become law.

Related: How the Catholic Church's hierarchy makes it difficult to punish sexual abusers

The commission, Australia's highest form of inquiry, heard that more than 1,000 Catholic institutions and a total of 1,880 alleged perpetrators were identified in sexual abuse allegations between 1980 and 2015. Various other institutions were also implicated; the commission heard 1,100 abuse complaints against the Anglican Church of Australia during the same time period.

The commission said that in some cases, abusers had admitted to their crimes during confession but had gone on to reoffend, as they knew they would not be reported to police.

The head of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne, said in a statement that "confession in the Catholic Church is a spiritual encounter with God through the priest."

"It is a fundamental part of the freedom of religion, and it is recognized in the Law of Australia and many other countries. It must remain so here in Australia. Outside of this all offences against children must be reported to the authorities, and we are absolutely committed to doing so," said Hart in the statement.

5 Ways A Wife Makes Her Husband Feel Like A Failure

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 01:03 AM PDT

When I asked the married men in my life, "In what way does your wife make you feel like a failure?" I was met with a slew of responses. Some guys pushed-up their sleeves, like they couldn't wait to tackle the issue. Others introspectively rubbed their scruffy chins and cleared their throats, pausing a good long while before raising a finger — "I got one."

Feeling like a failure is complex. Sure there are times a man feels disrespected by his wife or, at the very least, a little sad when she uses the last of the A1 sauce. But when she makes her husband feel like a failure - intentionally or not - well, that's different.

Unlike failing, where a man is able to pick himself up by the bootstraps and try again, being a failure has a lastingness to it — and can become a label, a tag, an identity.

But here's the good news: No woman can tell her husband who he is as a man. She does not pronounce the verdict on him. Only God can do that. And when a man feels anything but the leader of his tribe, he must turn to his Creator for validation, the One who "has crowned him with glory and honor" (Psalm 8:5b).

And now, in no particular order and in no way comprehensive, here are 10 ways a wife makes her husband feel like a failure:

1. She's not satisfied with their income.
When it comes to money, my husband and I are like most people: We always want more of it—maybe not to buy boats and hold season tickets, but to pay the electric bill, get our teeth cleaned, and eke out a vacation. And on days we skip the two dollar upcharge for avocado, it's okay—we still carry on!

But lately I've been dangling my wish list over his head, telling him about my friends who get cleaning ladies and about the dream home I drove by twice that day. This can't be good for our marriage. I mean, if I'm tempted to feel like a failure—not having these things—how is it making him feel, the one who'd give me the world if he could?

So instead of counting on money, a woman should count on her ability to be, according to a 17th century quote, "her husband's best companion in prosperity and in adversity the surest friend." But above all, she must count on the One who meets their needs "according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

2. She won't let go of past mistakes.
Bringing up past failures works double-duty on the heart of a man. It's already enough that he's dealing with the inadequacies of today, let alone his wife swooping in to remind him of unrelated failures from yesterday. Besides, the past does a pretty good job of rearing its ugly head all on its own—without the help of a wife.

But for every woman who champions for her husband's future, forgetting "those things which are behind" and reaching "forward to those things which are ahead" (Philippians 3:13), there's a woman who won't let her hubby of the hook. Such a woman might not fully understand the depths of God's grace. Only then will she be able to extend grace in return.

3. She sets crazy-high expectations.
When a woman expects her husband to turn into Prince Charming every holiday, she's setting him up for failure. It's one thing to want a hot stone massage on her birthday, but a hot stone massage year after year — in Hawaii — might be asking too much.

Lame gifts aren't the only things women worry about. I once set unrealistic expectations regarding my husband's level of participation on Christmas Eve. Last year he fell asleep before the kids, and fantasies of sipping hot cocoa together while placing the gifts "just so" under the tree were dashed. And I became the opposite of "slow to get angry" (James 1:19).

Yes, he should have stepped up his game. But within the context of our 22-year marriage, a marriage he's shown himself to be a good man, why make him feel as if he's failed me now—and on Christmas?

4. She makes excuses to avoid S*x.
There are all sorts of reasons a woman makes excuses to avoid intimacy, some extremely valid and even biblical, others not so much. ("Sorry, ate too much cheese tonight" is always a popular one.) And when excuses pile-up for no apparent reason, a man might think he's failed somehow: I used to drive her crazy! Why are my needs not a priority to her?

And if a woman avoids intimacy because she thinks it's better to resolve marital issues before having sex, the experts disagree. In fact, the likelihood of settling issues is much higher when sex comes first. Clearly intimacy works: "Let no one split apart what God has joined together" (Mark 10:9).

5. She compares him to other men.
This is a biggie for men. Starting in grade school, they had to find their way on the playground, positioning for their spot in the order of things. Fast-forward to today and not much has changed. But alas, there's home! A place he can go, free from the comparison trap... or is it?

Nothing makes a guy feel like a failure more than when his wife says, "I wonder how much money Joel makes?"—"Did you see how Matt opened the door for her?"—"Why aren't you more adventurous like Andrew?" Turns out she's more interested in molding her husband into her ideal image, not God's.

But what if change is in order? Then she must give God margin to work in his life. After all, change doesn't happen overnight. Even Jesus himself, though perfect, matured over time, growing "in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man" (Luke 2:52).

TRAGEDY: New Car Crushes Owner, A Retiree, To Death

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 12:33 AM PDT

Confusion engulfed residents of Ogurugu Road in Nsukka over the death of a water corporation retiree, who was crushed to death by his car at a petrol station in Nsukka area of Enugu State.

It was gathered that the retiree, identified as Ochi Joseph, of Affa in Udi LGA of the state, drove to Willie Ekere Filling Station along Ogurugu Road to fuel his new car, a Toyota Avensis.

The man, it was learned, started the car after fuelling, engaged the automatic gear only to discover that the bonnet was half-closed.

Attendants at the filling station told Vanguard that the deceased, on noticing that his bonnet was half-closed, came down from the car, forgetting to return the gear to park.

While he was attempting to close the bonnet, the car started to move. He tried to stop it only for the car to gain momentum. The car crushed the owner to death to the shock of everyone.

The eyewitness further said it was a lone accident, as the deceased was trying to stop the car from crashing into the fence of the filling station by attempting to push it back.

Sympathisers rushed him to Joseph Faith Foundation Hospital opposite the filling station, but he was confirmed dead on arrival. How sad!

How To Start A New Beginning To Your Desired Destination

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 12:03 AM PDT

At nineteen, the thought of staying in college while raising a baby frightened the daylights out of me. I had no idea how all the jumbled puzzle pieces of my life could settle into a picture that made any sense. It was too much to figure out, and I honestly didn't feel capable of solving the whole puzzle in one sitting.

But there was something I could do. There is always something you can do.

I picked up the phone and called an admissions counselor who had welcomed me into the school the previous semester. And I made an appointment to see him.

That was it.

Sure, I later investigated my options for housing and childcare. Sure, I had to eventually work at getting more scholarships, finding a job, and figuring out transportation. But my journey to finishing my degree started with my decision to make a phone call.

I'm not suggesting the decision you need to make will be easy or quick. I'm just telling you that your decision to move toward your girl isn't activated until you actually do something to set that decision in motion.

A habit of praying fervently may seem unattainable, but you can pray one prayerright now.

The relationship you need to end may threaten to rip your heart out, but you can write down the words you need to say and practice speaking them out loud.

I'm convinced that the enemy of good decision making is the inability or unwillingness to nail desires down to a next step. Desires become decisions when they are connected to an action.

Don't get stuck at the point of desire simply because you can't decide what to do. You could spend way too long wishing for change when the only thing standing between you and that change is your willingness to do something — anything — that kickstarts your journey.

Don't get stuck talking about change either. If you're not careful, you just might talk yourself out of the very thing God is trying to talk you into.

Yes, I know the struggle. But I've also learned the solution. The fastest way to escape analysis paralysis is to keep the main thing the main thing. You have to operate in light of where you hope to end up.

Habakkuk 2:2 says, "Write a vision, and make it plain so that a runner can read it" (CEB).

Based on this biblical principle, let me give you three steps to making a decision with your desired destination clearly in mind.

Step 1: Write It Down
...Writing things down is critical and important. No business could run without things being written down. Since your life is more important than any business, treat it that way by writing down the ways in which you want to grow, change, and become the person God wants you to be.

When God gave a vision to Habakkuk, He also told him to write it down. God knows that we are quick to be inspired, but often times slow to take action. When God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses, he had Moses write them down. In Revelation, when John experienced a vision of heaven, he was told by God to write down the things he saw. God knows we are notorious for getting distracted and forgetting to live continuously with the end in mind.

When you write down the desires of your heart and the destination you hope to reach, you clarify your thoughts and reinforce your intentions for tomorrow based on aspirations you hold today.

Step 2: Remember It
Don't forget to keep your vision in plain sight. If you write your desires down and stick them in the side pocket of your purse to make friends with forgotten pieces of gum, loose change, or old lipstick, those desires will not be front and center in your mind or heart.

Write them down and put them somewhere you will see them.

We need to be reminded of our intentions. We need to see them. We need a vision of the beautiful tomorrow that belongs to the girl in us, and we need to see this vision every day so we can remember to align our lives now with the girl we intend to be later.

So write down the dream that maybe you've forgotten or given up on.

Write down that hope you harbor in your heart.

Post that Scripture with the command you need to follow, the encouragement you need to receive, or the message you need to remember.

And then look at it as often as possible so you never forget your destination.

Step 3: Rehearse It
Habakkuk was told to write the vision and make it plain so somebody else would know about the end game as well.

Something happens when you choose to share your destination with someone else. A friend of mine puts it this way: when you share your vision with someone else, you give it oxygen. And isn't that what we all need — a little room to breathe and believe that change is possible?

Now, pick something. Don't stress. Don't overanalyze. Don't wait for the perfect time.

Remember, the first key to living with focus is to make decisions that lead to actions — even small ones — that align with your aspirations.

So act. Seal your decision by connecting it with an action.

And know that even if you're a bit behind the eight ball — either from an indecisive period in your life or a period void of decisions at all — it's never too late to make a choice that gets you on your way.

Eventually, you will make it too.

Man Killed Over Girlfriend Days After Release From Prison

Posted: 16 Aug 2017 12:03 AM PDT

A 25-year-old man, Oloche (surname withheld) has been brutally murdered by unknown gunmen in Ogobia Ugboju, Otukpo local government area of Benue State.

It was gathered that Oloche was killed on Sunday while still in comma in a local hospital after he was attacked by the same group the previous day.

Oloche, alleged to be a member of a notorious fraternity in the community, met his untimely death just few days after his release from prison custody.

A source told Daily Post in Otukpo that problem ensued few days back between his group and a rival cult group over a girl.

According to the insider, the deceased was accused of snatching a girlfriend of a member of the rival cult group.

The source said the rival group confronted him and warned him to stay away from the girl but fight broke out in the process and he was badly injured.
"He was rushed to an intensive care unit of Blessed Hospital in Ogobia Ugboju but the group still traced him there and shot him in the chest. He was confirmed dead by the doctors.
"Ugboju community has been in conflict for some time now and we suspect that the perpetrators of this were those who are counterparts of the deceased because while he was alive, it was rumoured that he belonged to one of the factions, which I can't tell now. Our community has become so rotten that majority of youths you see walking about belong to one faction or the other.
"As I speak, some of them have fled the community immediately they heard that the police were on their way from Otukpo while others are have returned to their hideout within the community."

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the Benue State Police PRO, Moses Yamu said 25 persons had been arrested in connection with the crime.

"Yes, we are on top of the situation. The young man was killed over a girl few days after returning from prison. The suspects are currently being investigated and would be charged to court when we are done with out findings," ASP Yamu added.

Healey's 14-year-old granddaughter Sorrell Leczkowski was killed in the suicide attack by Salman Abedi on 22 May. Her daughter, Samantha, Sorrell's mother, was also seriously injured. Healey was left in a coma for several days and had to have surgery to remove shrapnel from the bomb.

Parker was widely hailed in the media as a hero in the aftermath of the bombing after he described cradling a dying woman, following his "gut instinct" to help rather than running away.

More than £50,000 was raised for Parker in the days after the attack via a crowdfunding campaign. The Guardian understands Parker has continued to sleep rough since the attacks.

A total of 3,799 people pledged £52,589 for Parker, though he has yet to receive any of the cash.
A spokesman for GoFundMe said: "We're monitoring the situation closely. We are in full control of the funds and all donors are completely protected by the GoFundMe Guarantee. Anyone concerned about their donation should contact us at http://ift.tt/2dbSZHR."

Particularly, lecturers of this university have no business to be here. As we are taking, out union, ASUU, the only union that has fought relentlessly for the upliftment of education, the standard and quality of education in Nigerian universities. Our union have declared strike and you are here doing what? Why are you more catholic than Pope?''
